I love that Verti Marte is a real deli with amazing options to select from! The cashier was more than welcoming and helpful, escorted when it comes to getting suggestions of what to try. I finally made it to Verti Marte on my latest food stop in New Orleans. It was all that it was hyped to be and more! Firstly, when you enter, you think you may have come to a convenience store....and, you're right. There is a wide array of snacks through to freshly prepared cooked food. Then, your nose is welcomed by the wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen at the back of the Marte. When I walked to the food counter, I found a very large menu and 2 food cases, both packed with choices. I placed my order at the small kiosk near the front entry and waited for my name to be called. During my short wait, I was able to see a lot of delicious looking entrees and sandwiches get presented to customers from the kitchen. The hype is real with this little corner store. Don't be fooled by the looks of the store. Located directly across from the the LaLaurie house featured in American Horror Story (also known to be the most haunted house in NOLA), it would be easy to miss this store, but on our walk to the Frenchmen Quarter, we saw so many people eating sandwiches right outside this convenience store, so we knew this had to be a good place. We ordered a muffaletta and a po boy. These sandwiches were no joke and could be shared by at least two people. I'd HIGHLY recommend the All that Jazz po boy. This is the place for po boys! Got the fried shrimp and oysters on French bread. The bread just melts in your mouth. The shrimp and oysters are not little seafood under a ton of batter. Because the original muffuletta sandwich shop closed, we found rhis place on yelp. It's located on the corner, inside the back of a small market. It's very cramped and tiny in there. We waited probably 10 mins to order. When you order, you get a receipt, which you can take to pay in the front, then go back and wait for your sandwich. Staff were kind, and we got the muffuletta within less than 20 mins probably. The muffuletta was pretty good, although not as huge / good as the original from the original place. read more

First off, the food in the deli refrigerated stands looked like they have been there for several days. Maybe is the trays and the glass that are not washed out well. Then the kitchen needs a good scrubbing. The floors are dirty and I saw the cook grab two burgers with her gloved hands and didn't change them when she switched and began assembling the sandwiches for serving. So if you have a strong stomach and do not care about cleanliness then the food was yummy. I would not come back at the risk of getting ill. read more

We also got a spicy muffuletta sandwich, I wish we got a regular one instead of spicy. I don't eat spicy so it was hard for me to eat. There are dozens of worthy can't miss options on the blackboard, but you are here for the All That Jazz Po' Boy. This thing is a hot mess. The sesame studded French bread is stuffed with grilled shrimps, ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, American cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, and lots of sauce that will drip between your fingers and down your arms. There's a shelf in the front, but you need space and room to enjoy, which means you need to eat this thing at a park bench. The delectable deli meats, gooey sauce, and shrimp all mix perfectly in your mouth. In my two trips to New Orleans, this is my absolute favorite shrimp po boy place. Last time was in 2021 when covid was still happening, so the deli didn't open until midnight, but I'd stay up till midnight to get my po boy! (Granted not too hard to stay up till midnight on Bourbon Street) Now it's back to 24 hrs 7 days a week and the shrimp po boy is still amazing. I even brought my sister and her friend this time and they admitted it was their favorite thing they ate in the trip. Forewarning though, it is a small corner store grocery store/ deli, nothing fancy, only delicious. The sandwiches are all around $16-21, the shrimp po boy being $21 but you could easily split it into two meals unless you've got real drunchies. I saw the reviews and everyone was raving about the all that jazz sandwich so I decided to try it. It was a little pricy for a sandwich but I thought it would be worth it. When they handed it to me, it sure was heavy. I lugged the sandwich all the way back to my hotel and unwrapped it. First thing I noticed was that it's messy, which is no problem for me. They sure weren't slacking on the shrimp or cheese but the problem I had was how salty it was. The sauce is like a horseradishy mustard sauce and there was just so much of it that I felt like it was overpowering the sandwich. A friend told me about this place years ago and I'm glad they did because it's a hole in the wall shop you'd never really know about unless truly searching. FYI - this isn't a sit down restaurant; truly a grab and go. It's a walk up deli-type counter. You can probably only fit 15 people in a single file line in there as the space is small but again, a hit! My husband got the muffaletta and he raved! I took a bite and it was definitely delicious. Every time I come to New Orleans I HAVE to stop at Verti Marte. I've only ever come at night so not sure how it is during the day but whenever I come it's packed! The place itself is super tight since it's located at the back of a convenience store so if you're claustrophobic this might not be your place. Also I should mention it's strictly to go! I always get the grilled shrimp Po'boy on French bread and its always is as good as I remember. First off the sandwich is HUGE. The shrimp are seasoned so well and grilled just right. I did a late night run to Verti Mart. It's known for having awesome sandwiches with late night hours. It took a long time for me to decide but I got the shrimp Philly and seasoned potato balls. The sandwich was huge and filling. It was covered with two cheeses, mushrooms, shrimp, peppers, onions, and their special sauce. The bread was fresh and I couldn't finish it. This is a great deli and a great po boy shop in addition to being a grocery!!! They have a fantastic selection of available meals and sides in their deli counter and a large selection of various po boys and other sandwiches. I don't know if I will ever be able to make it through everything they have on the sandwich menu much less the deli counter but I've made a good effort over the years. Great place to grab some picnic food and head over to the dog park or river to enjoy the food and outdoors.
