Visiting a client in Fort Worth TX and I will admit, I was very disappointed when I learned that we would be dining at a Mexican restaurant, boy was I wrong!!! Hands down the best filet mignon I've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked "SMOKED medium rare and paired with Yukon mashed potatoes, carrot and asparagus!! It was seasoned to perfection and the smoky flavor was the icing on the cake!! Highly recommend this dish!!! Another dish (I did not sample but received great reviews from my colleagues) was the sea bass and shrimp enchiladas (pictured). Overall it was a positive experience, the service was excellent and the staff as a whole was super personalble!! We had a party of 10 and were well looked after. On the downside, the appetizer options were pretty basic and lacked enthusiasm and the old fashion I ordered was amateur. This place is legit! I've been here twice and the food and services is always on point.. we started with the basket of chips and salsa which was nice. Then moved on to nachos and then the ceviche as our starters. I went with the build your own entree of a petite filet medallion with a couple scallops and vegetables which came with a nice blue cheese salad. One of my co-workers did the same entree but with a different salad the spinach. They always have Kraft cocktails for the time of the year. So this time it was Christmas themed drinks which were very delicious. They also have a wide array of Tex-Mex food, seafood, Margaritas and other assorted delicious items. This is a Texas staple! The owner has owned it for many many years. I had friends take me here and they could not stop talking about how amazing the owner is and several friends say the same thing about his place. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. Everything from the chips to the salsa were so so flavorful! They have a brunch buffet on Sundays that was highly recommended and the lunch special is what I ordered and it was absolutely delicious! The potatoes were seasoned to perfection with a reddish seasoning that was savory and the vegetables were perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. I wanted to go back the next day and eat again but I didn't have time on my trip to Texas. The restaurant looks like you are transported to Mexico and they have indoor and outdoor seating and great for large groups. I've always been curious of this spot whenever I drive by because of all cars I see at the valet. I finally went, and after being disappointed by the appetizers we asked our server for her recommendation. Luckily she was very honest and basically told us to stick with the meats on the menu. We ended up getting steak and beef quesadillas and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was super tender and flavorful. It was a special night and they took our photos, printed it and gave up a signed copy from the staff which was very sweet. The interior has a unique and upscale design with an indoor fountain. I haven't been here in a while, but i brought one of my midland friends here to celebrate her bday and we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely everything was. The decor is lovely and the ambiance is nice :) We kept bending our necks backwards anytime we saw someone order something that was on fire. :) My friend is gluten and dairy free and she was able to find plenty of options for her special diet. We had good eats, good non-alcoholic drinks and lots of laughs. Our waiter was wonderful and very thoughtful. We were here on a Tuesday evening at 8 PM and this restaurant was buzzing with corporate crowd. We had a table for two and we ordered two meals. For the vegetarian we had the squash enchiladas. The tortilla itself was a little under cooked but the enchilada was very flavorful. we also had Taco de res, tenderloin tacos, which were really intense and flavorful. The corn on the squash enchilada was probably one of the best corns I have had. The best part was the dessert, we had a flan and a rice pudding made like a cheesecake, which was highly recommended by our host And we absolutely loved it. Came to Sunday Brunch (not knowing there was a brunch, but yay). The $38.00 price for adults is reasonable, considering the spread they put on! There's a salad table (with the most wonderful grilled vegetables - don't skip those), the buffet line, and an impressive dessert/fruit table. We came around 1 p.m. and they close up at 2 p.m. to prepare for the evening dinner, but I was surprised at how stocked the buffet still was. The only thing I noted was the eggs benedict was cool instead of warm, but realize that if you keep the container warm, those wonderful yolks will harden up. I'm looking forward to coming to another brunch just to try those when they're warm. Take care - the dressed salad is spicy, but tasty, with a great jalapeno dressing. On the buffet they have everything from waffles to migas, fajitas to empanadas, enchiladas and everything in between. Don't skip the soups at the end of the buffet line. I had the roasted corn soup and it was terrific. Service was great - our server was Carlos and he was helpful since this was our first visit to Via Real. The plates were kept clear of the table and our glasses were always full. I really look forward to returning, not only to the buffet, but on an evening to get a look at their regular menu. read more

I forgot that I had been here for lunch way back in 2016, but when in the car headed over for dinner last night, immediately remembered the place! Such an out-of-the ordinary location - like it's part of a residential gated community! Via Real manages to be classy but not uptight. We had a bottle of red that was delicious and high quality as I had no headache at all! We got the assorted appetisers and my favorite was the calamari - light and very good paired with the house dressing. I went with shrimp fajitas and loved them. Others at our table had veggie fajitas, red snapper, and the wood-fired steak. we ended with lemon chiffon cake, pecan praline cheesecake and a chocolate cake slice. This is a regular spot for my neighbors, so I gamely went along for the ride. The large margarita is the size of a kiddie pool, so be warned. The chips are my favorite kind... thin, and freshly fried in house, we got some queso to go along with the salsa, and I pretty much made a meal of them. But we did also split the Chicken Monterey. (chicken breast with spinach, goat cheese and a red pepper sauce). It was fine, but I was already full of chips. Next time I will try something else. Service was excellent and very attentive! I cannot stress the enough, stellar wait staff. I went with a large group during lunch and they did an amazing job, taking orders, passing out the food and checking on the group throughout. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful. If you are looking for your next date spot, I recommend this. I ordered the chicken Monterrey. It was very flavorful, and the portion size was okay leaning towards large. The sauce did not overtake the chicken flavors but added on to it. For desert, we got the sampler. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try all the samples because of a food allergy but I did try some. The chocolate raspberry cake was pretty dense but not heavy. The raspberry was not supper potent, I would have preferred for more. The carrot cake had a hint of citrus that the table was not a fan of. read more

My assistant organized a team dinner for us at Via Real during our short stay at DFW area. The decor Via Real was average, a bit on the dated side in my view. It was a popular place. There were customers celebrating birthday, date nights. The server was very friendly and lively. It was a loud venue, so she had to raise her voice a lot for a table of 10. Still, it was difficult at times to make out what she was saying. We ordered a round of drinks and many of us tried their signature margaritas. They were good. For dinner, several of us ordered the tomahawk pork chop. That was a big plate. I was barely able to finish it. There was some risk when the piece is so big. There were definitely pinkness close to the bone. While I was comfortable with it, some were not. In general, the amount of food was a bit too much for anyone who is weight conscious. So be warned. The overall impression was that this is a generally good place to have casual dinner but for something that's a bit more refined or serious, this isn't a place that you want to impress your client. read more

My friends and I had been attending a convention at the airport this weekend. They had an extra spot for their dinner reservation here and invited me to come with them to dinner! I'm so glad they did because now I've got a spot to bring some family when they are here from out of town! Staff was outstanding, we regularly got refills before our drinks were done. The owner was even coming around to check on everyone. My friends all got steaks that came out with a wooden plant that was on fire. They put out the fire with your steak so it had that fresh straight off the flames taste. I got the squash enchiladas. Which has zucchini, squash & a queso like sauce. Everyone enjoyed our meals! We also ordered three desserts. A chocolate cake like one that was sweet, the carrot cake that reminded one of my friends of a Norwegian cake that is similar & the creme brulee which one of my friends said was the best he had. During our meal we talked about the brunch buffet they do, make to order waffles & omelets one friend mentioned, and we talked about coming back for that on a Sunday. Seems a little fancy for a Mexican place but the food is pretty good. Came for lunch with coworkers & had the veggie fajitas. The waitress confirmed "no dairy" when I said no cheese or sour cream & asked if I would like guac (always). They've got things marked as "vegetarian" but I didn't ask if their black beans or tortillas were vegan. My coworkers seemed to really enjoy what they ordered. Service was very good, attentive. Although, I wish the manager hadn't made such a big deal about coming to our table to apologize that service hadn't boxed up our leftovers for us - just send her back to the table to take care of it & address it with her privately. read more

Every week, for months now I have looked over at Via Real on my way to Tom Thumb and said "I've got to check this place out". So when my gf surprised me with dinner reservations there on Valentine's Day I was super excited! I kid you not, this restaurant is always packed. Which we all know is usually a good sign lol. There's valet parking or you can self park in their lot. The building itself is unassuming from the outside. But once inside, you are engulfed by the fine dining experience. Low lighting, a fireplace, wood columns and exposed brick sets the tone. Followed by cushioned clam shell seats and tables fully set with cloths and folded napkins. We were greeted by a lovely host and quickly taken to our table. Shortly thereafter we were brought water, chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa had just the right balance. We also ordered a side of queso because...why not?! It was great as well. Not too thick, thin or salty. As we're enjoying our chips and salsa, we were offered complimentary champagne which I thought was awesome and just right for the occasion. Moments later our waiter came by to take our dinner order, asked if we had questions and to show us the evenings specials. He was very knowledgeable, pleasant and professional. We decided on the bone-in pork loin and Chicken Poblano. Both dishes were full of flavor, well presented and portioned perfectly! Throughout our meal, there were several members of the staff walking around to make sure everyone was well taken care of. And that they did..take care of everyone. We even had a chance to meet owner Fran Mathers. She too was walking around speaking to every patron. She was sweet, witty and fun; dressed immaculately in her sequin jacket. This is not your typical Tex-Mex restaurant, with a classy atmosphere and higher end options like steak and seafood, along with traditional options like fajitas and enchiladas. I had the Tacos de Res - enchiladas filled with beef tenderloin tips and ancho chili sauce that was so good! I paid extra for the queso and chili con carne sauce. Appetizers were also amazing, we had the assortment platter with a mix of calamari, spinach quesadillas, fajita nachos, and amazing stuffed jalapeños. My margarita was just okay, not the best I've had, but the wine was excellent as was the dessert options - I had the white chocolate crème brûlée.
