My fiance and I moved to North Austin earlier this year. One of the best things about this town is that small business owners thrive and bring quality work and great customer service to the table. Dane Vick is no exception. I needed to get the oil changed on my fiance's 2006 Chevy Cobalt but I didn't want to go to any of the chain quick-lube places that overcharge and have horrible service. I pulled in at 4:00pm the day after Christmas with no appointment and was greeted promptly by Dane(the owner). He informed me that usually he is booked up with repairs and it's a good idea to call ahead(just to insure quick service). But his master tech was waiting for parts for a vehicle so he got it on the lift right away. I was in and out in a little over half an hour. No BS. No upselling. Just great service with a big smile. Dane thanked me multiple times for my business and has definitely earned my future business. Anyone in the North Austin area, or anywhere in Austin for that matter, would be wise to go to Vick's for quick tune-up or even major repairs. They do everything but body work. read more

I first stopped by Vick's about a year ago for a state inspection sticker. Dane got me in and out in about 20 minutes. Really nice guy and said if I ever needed work on my car, give him a call and he'd get me in. Ive been back 5 or 6 times and have had great experiences every time. Dane always answers the phone and always calls you back and lets you know the progress on your vehicle. He sits on the phone and walks you over your options, what things you REALLY need, what things you probably need but can get away with for a few months and how much each things costs. They do the work and get it done when they say they will. Hes extremely flexible and from what I can tell, they do great work at a reasonable price. He even offered to pick me up from my house when I told him I was planning to ride my bike to pick up my car. Highly recommended. It takes a lot of the stress of getting repair work done when you have someone like Dane working for you. read more

This is absolutely the place to go! I called to ask if they did state inspections and the owner, Dane, told me to come in right before they closed so I wouldn't have a long wait. Come to find out, his regular inspection guy was out sick that day, but he personally inspected my car even after the shop had closed. Came here to get my tires replaced after seeing they are affiliated to Amazon. After calling I found out they not only had the tires I was willing to buy off Amazon but they actually had them cheaper and labor was cheaper too. The dealership wanted $700 for Bridgestone forenza tires with crappy reviews. I walked out from Vick's Expertune with 4 top performance Pinelli tires and labor for $500. On top of that they were able to remove the wheel locks without the key and without damaging them (they are lost and the f'ing dealership denied ever taking them). Overall great service. Dane Vick told me I needed a new battery when I took my vehicle in for a simple oil change. I immediately drove it to another repair shop a mile away where they hooked up my battery and told me absolutely nothing was wrong with it. Since I've had no indication of any battery problems, I'm left a little suspicious of this place now. Sorry, I think I'll keep looking for a repair shop that i can trust without worrying if I'm being played. read more

I only had the chance to come here one time before I moved out of Austin, but the staff were excellent. The owner helped get everything set up for my appointment and was kind and knowledgable. His staff were the same--did an excellent job and went above and beyond to ensure my car was taken care of and running well. They were accommodating and communicated with me the whole time they were working on my car, which does NOT happen other places, and I very much appreciated it. And you can't beat the price. Almost a year later and I still think Dane's the best! I had to write an update to let ya'll know about my most recent encounter that further proves this guy (and his wife who works the front desk) are the real deal! My car finally died (transmission) and I borrowed a car from a friend to get to work and back but wanted to pick up my car so I could drive it straight to the dealership in the morning. I was trying to figure out how I was going to pick up the kids (the carseats were in my car and I needed to get them in the borrowed car) and get the car home with just me. I thought about walking to pick it up but it's June in Austin so...yea. When I got there to pay for the tow -$74 (the dude didn't even charge us for all the time he put in to trying to figure out what was going on with it!) he said he would be happy to drive it over at 5pm if I wanted to come back...at which point his wife said "I can do it now if you want." These people are the sweetest, most honest people!!! I cannot say enough about Dane and his shop...if you need an honest, hard-working, no bull-shit kind of mechanic, Dane is your guy!! read more

I own a Honda Odyssey and Honda Accord and every time I brought these cars to Vick's, they were able to correctly find the problems and fixed them at a very reasonable rates : from AC issues, alignment, car-won't-start, etc... you name it, Vick's fixes it. So any major problems that I have with my cars from now on I will bring them to Vick's because I know that this shop can fix them.
