This place is hit or miss and today was a miss. Either everything is good or everything is bad. I order 4 Cuban sandwiches, not pressed, and when I got home and took them out of the bag they were all flat and half the bread was gone on one of them. There was icing all over the Saran Wrap. They would have been much better wrapped in the parchment paper they usually come in. I ordered 10 ham croquettes and they were all soggy. They were old. You could tell by the flavor. I haven't tried the paste ties yet. They look ok. I'm hoping for the best. Really, I go there at least twice a week for at least a cortadito, colada, or cafe con leche and depending on who makes it is whether it tastes good or bad. I just don't understand. It pains me to score this rating for Vicky, as this little bakery is near and dear to my heart and what makes up the culture I have been around my whole life. My mom being Cuban, she got me hooked on guava and cheese pastelitos. And this is oddly not to diminish this business...it is to point out small but significant things that I think will be easy (atleast I hope) to tackle. Today I ordered the usual. Yes, two guava and cheese pastries. And a cafe con leche. The guava and the cheese was slim to none. I eat them what is odd to anyone, but I dissect and pull them apart; allows me to savor the deliciousness longer! So not only was the stars of the show having stage fright, but I found the bottom to be way too sticky and stiff. I like that golden crisp but too sticky for my liking. My cafe con leche at first had a strong burnt taste to it but then it was tolerable, especially after putting little bit of sugar. The cleanliness of the place, or lack of, is probably the worst I have seen. Absolutely no napkins where only one of the 6 dispensers had any available. The floors, around the trash where the trays are, and the tables were filthy, crumbs everywhere. I love you Vicky but hopefully we can reunite on better terms! read more

Since moving to south Florida I've expanded my culinary boundaries. I first went to a Vicky Bakery in Hialeah, and it was so good. A great Cuban, exquisite pastries and phenomenal Cafe Con Leche. I found this Vicky a year ago, looks like the closest one to my home. I met the owner, great guy, gearhead like me (nice motorcycle too). I was just there and got a Croquetta Preperada sandwich. This place is AMAZING!!! I grew up not knowing the glory that is Vicky Bakery and all the Cuban pastries and food they serve. Then i started dating my Cuban wife and she blew my mind one day by taking me there. The Croquettas, the Pasteles, the Cuban Coffee and it's all so cheap! We just stopped by this weekend to get some stuff for breakfast and only half of it made it home. My favorite thing is the Croqueticas (small croquettas) with ham. You get 25 Of them for $8.00 and if you can catch them fresh out of the fryer, it's like a small bite of heaven. Crispy on the outside and hot pillowy meat on the inside. Perfect blend of flavors. This isn't the best Vicky that I have been to and It could use some TLC. I immediately noticed how messy their tables inside were and the empty napkin dispensers. It also didn't seem like there was any system for helping out the line of customers so you don't really know the order. Maybe I'm just use to the number tickets. This Pembroke Pines store has declined in quality and customer service. I asked for a Breakfast special which includes eggs (fried or scrambled), ham or bacon, toast and café con leche. I asked for my eggs fried with bacon. The front clerk said there was no bacon. I said, ok, then fried eggs and ham. She said I could only get scrambled eggs with ham . Really? It use to be my fave, but not any more, these last two month I have have ordered bread and pastelitos, 3 times in the same week no bread or old bread only twice I had fresh bread the pastelitos are bad and old threw them out twice out of 3 times and had to wait to be served or I am waiting and no one acknowledges that I'm there like you didn't wanna work for they wanna work a slow as possible. As soon as we walk in we are not greeted right away and had to ask for help. There was a guy sitting by the Register on his phone texting. The vibe was completely off. I'm not surprised since this is south Florida. People are very rude here, it's pretty much expected lol. They had pastries galore and cakes just waiting to be picked up by someone (not me, not today haha). There is plenty of tables and chairs inside to sit and enjoy your food. The best guava pastelitos ever are found at Vicky's! I venture to say every location is just as legitimate and can stake the claim. I ordered a guava and cheese along with just a guava. I had a preference for the guava one over the other, but both were excellent! Perfect crunch, tons of guava and warm...nice and waaaaaarm. Service surprisingly was also very good considering how busy they were. People might say its Hialeah looking and that it lacks decor, but for me its a stop and go so none of that matters to me. I walked in and there were a couple of employees standing around but nobody greets you. I chose 15 mini cookies and paid for them. They were two different varieties and I brought them home. They looked delicious and I even ate a couple before dinner. The flavor was fair. I liked the ones with the chocolate on top but the ones with the cherry were really lacking flavor. I will probably only come back here for the cookies with the chocolate on top. A lot of the varieties of the cookies did not appeal to me. It does get pretty crowded here and can be a little loud. I usually come to this location whenever I have big orders to put in. The staff is always kind and friendly which is extremely helpful if you don't know exactly what/how much you need. They are always bringing in freshly baked/cooked items out. The pastries are always great but I've yet to try the sandwiches and cakes yet. I know I won't be disappointed if I do try them. I went to buy my cake on my Birthday, when it was time to cut the cake, my guests did not eat it, all of them find the cake funky, weird flavor and smell. I think I was the only one that eat half of my piece, it was a uncomfortable experience. I went there to ask them to try it and compare the flavor and they took the cake, tell me it was good that probably my guest did not like chocolate :S, then they offer me a credit. I appreciate that but I guess my passion is customer experience and I think it went bad, If I take the time to go back to the store with the cake for them to try it and smell it, it is because it was a BAD experience the previous day with 8 different people. when they say the cake is good and probably my guests don't like chocolate they are canceling my voice- it is why are you complaining and then offered me the credit made me feel like I was there for money, when in reality I was there because I was concerned about safety... I was visiting the area from Fort Myers & walked in on a late Thursday morning to all of the ladies at the counter talking to one another or on their phones. Finally I was acknowledged by a girl who looked bothered that I was there. She was able to get my items and while she was checking me out she kept sighing and rubbing her head. Everybody has their own stuff going on, but your customers don't want to see it. I got to my car eager to dig in to my empanadas, croquettes & tequeño only to find the items cold. Not even like they were under a heat lamp/Luke warm, they were cold. Therefore unappetizing and didn't hit the spot like I had hoped. I ordered my food and coffee and every known customer that came in behind me was given their items first while I am still waiting.
