Hands down the best chicken fried steak I have had in my existence! This cafe is a total gem in the industrial district of duke city. Prepare to be greeted genuinely and guided to a clean table. The customer service was outstanding! I dined with a friends and we both had the chicken fried steak only mine was breakfast style that came with eggs, tortilla and of course christmas (red and green Chile) smothered. It was a huge portion which was great for breakfast the next day too! Hold on wait a sec, don't forget the pie! This place has amazing house pies! This cafe is the bees knees! I had the best breakfast burrito I've had in a very long time. They have beef chorizo, which IMO is the best! The burrito is a good size and it's not just chock full of hash browns. I had Xmas, so I tried both green and red Chile and I honestly think that's what made the burrito so delish. It was full of flavor and just spicy enough. My husband had the chicken fried steak and it was bigger than his head and SO juicy and tasty. The veggie medley was kind of a throw away, frozen veggies I think and just kind of meh. The mashed potatoes were pretty standard, nothing to write home about but certainly nothing to complain about. Always the best most incredibly friendly staff!! Food is homemade and always delicious. Huge servings and now that they have huge patio such a short wait time. The only disappointing thing about this meal is that I couldn't finish it. What a great value at $15! I got the Vaquevos which is a perfectly seasoned and battered chicken fried steak covered with cheese on a bed of beans or hash browns (or both) and two eggs cooked your way. I got 'red on the side' and it also comes with a tortilla. Everything was delicious. I was worried it would be soggy from the cheese but it wasn't. I might suggest getting the eggs on top however. I travel to ABQ on a regular basis and I do not anticipate ANY future visits that don't include Vic's! read more

You've just gained weight looking up Vic's. If you are looking for really tasty comfort food this needs to be your staple location for getting that food! We shared a Huevos Rancheros plate which was below my palatable standards, but I know it fancies quite well for most. The tortilla & hash browns are not fresh (Sysco products) frozen bag hash browns, the coffee is also below average, definitely using a subpar coffee, not from a Local roaster, the only thing I thoroughly enjoyed was the Green/Red Chile....it rocked, but the rest of plate lost me, if I was starving & wanted a bang for my buck, Vick's would be an option. The chicken fried steak at Vic's has replaced that served at the Mule Barn as my top favorite in the Duke City. Crispy but not dry, the taste is like beef and not cardboard. No grease. Huge enough for a take-home box. My favorite cake in the USA is Carrot Cake. There is, IMHO, none better. Moist and tasty with a bit of orange in the bater, this alone will keep me coming back to Vic's. Extensive menu and great service make this a perennial favorite of many of my friends. We've just moved to New Mexico and heard about this place in the newspaper's choice awards (it was in the top 3 best breakfast places in Albuquerque). We are so glad we came! The wait was longer on a Saturday morning, but we knew it was going to be busy. Everything we had was really good - we especially loved the huge cinnamon roll (we got one to split between the 4 of us - they are huge!) We will definitely come back, and want to come back for lunch as well. I do wish they hadn't already been out of biscuits - we were there before 9 - we'll have to come earlier if we want to try them. Wow, what a great meal! Very busy, they've imposed a a rule: you must have all members of your party ready to be seated. So, travel together or make sure no one is late because there isn't much waiting area, nor much parking area either. This place is tucked away in a nondescript warehouse, ambiguous and poorly marked building. Yet, it's so popular because of its good food and great portions. We had the big daddy chicken fried steak over hash browns, the vaqueros plate Christmas style, huevos rancheros, Greek salad, and various strudels for dessert. Service was polite but managers ignored new customers to chat with regulars, kind of clique-ish. Our server was slammed but our food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering. Every area is congested. They seemed to have outgrown the building. The restrooms are inadequate for the numbers of customers. Let's hope management can find better facilities and make the adjustments to accommodate the volume. read more

A few weeks ago we discovered VIC'S DAILY CAFÉ on Osuna (at the Osuna Business Center), and were so impressed, we have since revisited many more times! All the food is fantastic, the service is excellent, and the prices are better than reasonable. The breakfasts range from ham and eggs, omelets, corn beef hash, burritos, cereals, waffles/pancakes, etc., and the lunches include a wide variety of burgers, international salads, beef and turkey sandwiches, as well as Gyros and meatloaf baguettes. The place is always packed (but it's definitely worth the wait because it's really great!) - Especially on weekends - so come as early as you can. The servers are wonderful, and Vic and his staff are always watching to make sure everyone is fully satisfied. Very Highly Recommended. read more

We went to Vic's for breakfast with friends. This is just the kind of place to eat we look for when visiting new areas. The menu was good. We had lots of choices. Prices were more than fair . Our server was friendly and offered good service. We were all pleased with the food, the price and just about everything with this restaurant. Holy chicken fried steak! I stopped by Vic's on a Sunday at 11 am following countless recommendations to try this place out. When I arrived, the line took up the entire entryway, but we were told we could be seated in about 25 minutes. We were. The line never stopped, and I could see why. For about $14 per person, we each ordered an entree and drink. Two of us went with the Vaqueros, Christmas style, with biscuits. We could have shared and still had leftovers! This thing was YUGE! The CFS was breaded just enough and not overly salty. The Chile was good, but not spicy at all. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was a nice touch. The biscuits were good but not the best. The place itself is unassuming from the outside but you shouldn't be dissuaded from indulging here for that reason. Worth a stop and very Instagrammable. read more

Food was not good. Pancakes should be able to be picked up and eaten, instead they were all crumbly and not cooked all the way. I also ordered the five pancakes and got three instead. Ordered two eggs and got one egg. Asked for extras syrup but only got one. When the waitress went to get my other egg and syrup 10 minutes had passed and had not seen my waitress. I did ask another and she said she would let my waitress no. Still nothing. Out of the four plates ordered 2 came out right and good. When getting our ticket I had to let the waitress no not to charge for the 5 pancakes but for 3 only. She said yes she noticed that and also noticed my plate did not look good or right either. I asked her if that was the case why did she not mention or catch it in the beginning? She also said to pick any item on the menu but we were leaving and did not want to wait any longer when we waited long enough. We will no longer support this business. I hope it gets better also. They have such a great atmosphere, their service is great, their dish portions are huge, and their food is impeccable! I went most recently with my friend for breakfast. When we arrived they were fairly busy, so we waited about 10 or 15mins to be seated. We ordered drinks, water and coffee. Vics has a pretty vast selection of dishes. When it came time to order our meals, I ordered the El Gordo Omelet with a side of red chili, and my friend ordered the Vaqueros. The food came out in reasonable timing. We're always surprised at how big the portions are when the plates are put on the table. Everything was cooked to perfection! My omelet was so good, and my friend said his order was delicious. The Vaqueros is definitely one of the best things you can order. After we devoured our meals, we ordered dessert, which was the coconut cream pie. It is to die for. It's the perfect light dessert to top off a heavy meal. Vic's Daily Café is a GREAT restaurant to visit, I would definitely recommend it to everyone! read more
