Victor's is my favorite spot for a lounging dinner in Ptown. It can get loud, slightly hectic, at rush hour, especially on July 4th, but the attentive and engaging service remains on point regardless. I've been in a handful of times, which is a testament to how much I appreciate the atmosphere of the place and the quality of the food, but the reason I've left one star out of my review is because of the static menu. I'm a vegetarian, and there are some REALLY great dishes here to order, but I've noticed that they haven't changed over the last three years, and instead it seems as though they've added a page. Now we're entering the realm of personal preferences vs. the style of the restaurant, but I would like to see a smaller, but consistently revitalized, menu. The sweet potato fries with marscapone/honey sauce are not to miss, really enjoyed the watermelon/feta salad, the mushroom empanadas are great (though a touch too spicy for my taste), and the drinks are wonderfully inventive but quite strong. Also, the dessert portions are huge, the banana bread pudding and sugar-cookie-crusted strawberry/rhubarb tart were both delicious, but it's a good thing there were 5 of us at the table. Victor's is our favorite in Ptown. We usually eat here at least three times each week for the last 8 years. The staff is low key but they attend to your every need. The food is what we come for every time and we have never been disappointed. If this is your first visit I would highly recommend the fresh baked bread with hummus and olive oil, the coconut shrimp, the skirt steak and the halibut. The mixologist is a master and their cocktails are original and delicious. Try the pear martini, the lime Rickey mojito and in July and August, their red and white sangria. read more

Really wanted to like this place, but the food was terrible. My friend and I came here because the Yelp reviews were the best in the area, but we had many regrets afterwards. First of all, the people here are so so nice and their drinks are decent. The atmosphere is the kind of coastal upscale thing we expected. We just couldn't eat the food. We got the foie gras, some stuff from the raw bar, the scallop and goat cheese quesadilla, the bass ceviche, and bread pudding. The foie gras was just bad. Neither of us had ever had it where it was inedible and we both did not eat it after one bite. It was cooked in a way that it was unrecognizable in taste. The ceviche wasn't good either and we also did not finish that. The scallop and goat cheese quesa might have been a mistake on our part to order but we felt like we were being adventurous. It turned out to be fried, but not just on a flattop. It had that deep-friedness about it. The scallops were overcooked and just didn't go with the goat cheese. Again, we accept the blame for ordering it. Everything from the raw bar was really good and fresh. If we were going to do this again, we decided we would be willing, but just get drinks and clams and oysters. Oh also, we would get the bread pudding again. It was pretty good. read more

This place has HANDS DOWN the best food in Provincetown! I have been coming for about 12 years (almost every years) and have always been frustrated at the overpriced, mediocre food. It almost takes work to reach those levels of mediocrity. That is why I was so happy to discover Victor's. Finally, interesting food with care put into the presentation and the taste. It rivals restaurants I have liked in NYC and DC. The gnocchi was incredible, so interesting and different from any gnocchi I have ever had. Also, don't miss the tuna sashimi-MELT in your mouth good! Service was attentive. There was an additional item we didn't order that appeared on our bill, but we caught it and the waiter was happy to fix it and reissue. I am not usually a big fan of small plate restaurants, but Victor's is an exception. Dinner here, with a group of four, was outstanding. Everyone loved every element of our meal. We started with the Deconstructed Ahi Tuna Napoleon (delicious!!), Two Large meatballs and Stuffed Mushrooms. Following that we added crab and cheese Rangoons, Sake Steamed Mussels and Sizzling Asian Style Skirt Steak. Everything was very well prepared and delivered to our table when it was ready (not in courses). The atmosphere is pleasant and the service was excellent. This restaurant was exceptional!!! We did not have a reservation and they accommodated us at the last minute even though it was very busy. The host was extremely gracious and our server was friendly, efficient, nice and knew the menu well. The food exceeded all expectations!!! We had the bread basket, Brussel sprouts, French fries with aoli, sliders and stuffed mushrooms, one dish was better than the next. Came here for dinner at a 5:45 Friday night reservation. Promptly seated with the sweetest server. I was a slight pain in the you-know-what and requested that we move to a corner seat in the room. Eric, our server, moved us with no problem. THANK YOU ERIC!!! ATMOSPHERE: Classy and comfortable. Everything is clean and updated. We loved it. FOOD: Everything is tapa-sized servings so we tried four dishes between 2 people. We had a fantastic birthday dinner for two here. Our favorite dish was tuna tartare; I highly recommend it. The margarita (standard) was delicious as well. I also appreciated the variety on the menu. We had fun simply choosing what to eat. We arrived at 6 and I felt a bit silly for making a reservation (a Wednesday in August), but the place was full and lively soon after. The interior feels upscale with white tablecloths while still feeling casual to align with a beach town. We had a lovely evening all around, but what I appreciated most were our server Andrew's special touches: a birthday wish in crayon on the table, a candle in our dessert, a few birthday laughs, and complete attentiveness while letting us take our time. This place is a gem. One of the few restaurants you can make reservations in advance and I'm so glad we did. There is a small patio outside with a fire pit if you arrive early. The dining room is open with vaulted ceilings but still feels intimate.y only complaint is that I couldn't eat everything on the menu. We started with some chilled shrimp and got the iced gazpacho shot w lobster bite as cold starters. The shot was so delicious, it was hard to share it. Next up we couldn't decide between the steak tartare or tuna so we did the tartare sampler and got both! Be prepared though you get a full portion of each. Probably better for a table of 4-6. For dinner we ordered the mac and cheese w lobster add on and the sizzling skirt steak tips. The steak was perfectly cooked, still steamy and had an amazing savory and zesty flavor. The mac and cheese was decadent with truffle oil and pancetta. All in all a wonderful dinner and great service too. We were so happy with our choice for dinner! read more

I've learned that it's hard to judge places in Provincetown by online reviews. Something about people's vacation mentalities seem to inflate the reviews so they all seem similar. Knowing this, I had pretty average expectations for Victor's despite friends telling me that they had good experiences there. I figured it was worth a try, and I'm definitely happy I did. The physical space is similar to a few other establishments in the area. It's relatively casual in general. Outside, there is a nice fire pit to wait by in the cooler evenings; inside seems as if you are in a friend's dining room with high ceilings and skylights. The menu generally consists of smaller, shared plates, so we decided to order a few and spit them between us. We ordered the calamari, tuna tartare, veggie burger, crab and three cheese rangoon, and grilled fish soft tacos. The calamari and tuna tartare were the highlights of the night. They weren't anything too out of the ordinary, but the ingredients were very fresh and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. If I were to come again, I'd avoid the fish tacos. They weren't bad, but they just weren't as good as the other items we sampled. Overall, my experience here was great. The setting and food were perfect. I'm happy to say that this was one of the better meals I've had in Provincetown, and I'd gladly return and recommend it to friends. read more

Wanted to try this place all week. We tried it once without a reservation but they were all booked up. We came back with a reservation last night and got right in. However, we did want to eat later in the evening but the last reservation listed was 5:45. Though there were several empty tables for the duration of our dinner. The service was great. The food was just ok. They have some entrees but it is mostly tapas style. Which I am usually fine with. And the tapas come out of the kitchen as they become ready. Which is also fine but there was a weird order to how things came out. Like our bread basket came out last after the 5 other plates. There was also weird gaps in the timing of the kitchen. There would be two things that come out and then what seemed like an eternity for the next dish. The drinks were good. The place was decently expensive. If you go before 6 they have a sunset special which can save you money. Overall just an ok experience. read more

I'll consider this a generous two star review (meaning, I'm not quite sure it should even be that). It's a ways off Commercial St (10 minute walk from the very end of the main street of shops). Not terribly far, but if you're only daytripping, or staying near the docks, not sure it's worth the walk. I commented to my wife several times throughout the meal that I had no idea who their target clientele is. White washed, with beautiful sunset pictures on the wall, white tablecloth with white paper tops, and crayons? It may be a tapas place (shareable plates), but the prices aren't tapas-reasonable. And that's because while their menu says everything's shareable, most of the dishes appear to be more entree' portions than anything (so why advertise as shareable?). Our waiter was very... awkward. Most of the staff was just as awkward. It's a small place. You have to walk through the entire staff to get to the bathrooms, and they're not really interested in giving way to let you pass. I found it odd that waiters were giving each other chair massages within full view of the dining area (probably because there wasn't room in the kitchen?). Did I mention our waiter was awkward, cause... he was. My water glass was empty more than it was not. No refills on soda, and they charge $3 per small glass. Maybe the restaurant was going to be hoping, but I didn't understand why there were so many waiters there, most of which were standing around talking to each other... For the most part the food was tasty (though you may not know it based on my forthcoming comments). We ordered the mushrooms, which had a good flavor, but was served in one of those escargot trays (ya know, the one where it's an individual droplet). I'm not sure how they found mushrooms small enough to fit. But it was only $9, so I guess I can't be too disappointed. The highlight of the meal, the flatbread pizza. It had a lot going on, and I wasn't quite sure how I should eat it... but no shame (nomnomnom). That circles back to my "I'm not sure who eats here" comment. Lobster and rice, I mean risotto. More edamame than I cared for, but I'll chalk that up to personal preference. One claw worth of lobster, and a pile of otherwise unimpressive cheesy rice (no other seasoning or accompaniment); not worth the $28. The short-ribs, tender, mediocre flavor. I'm not sure what was going on with the root vegetables, the carrots were soft/mushy on the outside, and the inside was tough (somewhere between undercooked and not ripe). That may be intentional, it was just weird to me. Lots and lots of sesame seeds, which were ok. The flourless chocolate cake with dark & white chocolate mousse; it should be described as a mousse cake, not a flourless cake with mousse. It tasted fine, but was not what I was expecting based on the description. We made a reservation through OpenTable, and checked in with the host when we arrived. The restaurant reported to OpenTable that we blew off our reservation, and when we followed up, the restaurant contested that we were there. Everything about Victor's led to a perfect evening! This was our first visit, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautifully cozy and chic ambience. The bartender, Martin, was very welcoming and friendly, creating superb cocktails! We ordered the lobster gazpacho shot, which was so delicious we ended up ordering again... and then again. The shrimp cocktail was served with a mignonette, which was fabulous. Stuffed mushrooms followed and did not disappoint. These plates were followed by a lovely slice of passionfruit cheesecake, so very tasty. So, to summarize... when you have a beautiful ambience, a great bartender, and deliciously prepared food... well, in my book, that's a 5 star experience! read more

I am so happy to say that we had a fabulous dinner last night... Just as we have had in the past. I had spoken to Chris, the manager, when I made my reservation and had asked for a " nice" table as we were celebrating with our friends a special occasion. I also gave my credit card info and asked that our friend NOT be allowed to give their credit card, as I had wanted to treat them to dinner. Both requests were honored! We loved our table in the dining room by the window. My friend thought he was slick and slipped his credit card to the waiter...of course, at the end of the meal he was given his card back and told it was already take care of! Our waiter, Henrique, was great. The service was excellent...very attentive to our questions, polite, he had a sense of humor, and was a true gentleman. Henrique's two busboys were also wonderful. Food was yummy. My friend said the oysters were the best she has ever had, and she travels extensively and eats at many fine restaurants. Loved especially the calamari, Mac and cheese as well as the fruit cobbler for dessert. The only things we didn't like: The spring rolls were without any flavor, even thought they were crispy and hot. My ginger lemon martini was just " mehhh". Red velvet cake was a bit stale. I dressed for the tundra as I had remembered how freezing cold I was last year. I was so happy that it was on the warm side, and my friend asked for the air to be put on, and Chris was very accommodating and it was perfect. Great dining experience! read more

We ALWAYS dine at Victor's when visiting PTown. This past weekend was probably the best food we have ever had there and that's saying a lot! We started with oysters and the deconstructed tune napoleon. I also had a spicy cilantro margarita. I was afraid it would be too spicy, but the server assured me it was perfectly spiced and it certainly was. We also had some delightful seaweed salad and sizzling skirt steak-to die for. The real highlight for me, of all things, was the kale ceasar. I daydream about it. I am currently pricing hotel stays just so I can have this meal again. Came here twice within the same weekend and sat at the bar for a quick cocktail and a bite to eat. We read about the happy hour 99cent oysters and shrimp cocktail but when we arrived the first time we didn't notice it posted anywhere and the bartender failed to mention it. We felt odd asking so we just ordered off the regular menu. Shortly after, a couple came in and got the oysters, littlenecks and shrimp. I was disappointed that the bartender failed to mention it to us and feel as though maybe they should have it printed on the menu or somewhere where we can read it for ourselves if they don't feel like mentioning it to everyone. The shrimps were HUGE, they were a bit tough to bite into but for 99cents and for the size it was easy to forgive. The Oysters were fresh, cold and easy to go down! We definitely ordered a decent size round of these and will be back next season. The last day we sat at the bar was actually the last day they were open for the season. Everything on the menu was HALF OFF since they were going to be closed for some time. We already had our dinner planned for that evening but will certainly look out for this next year as we have made it a tradition to be in town for new years! By far the best oysters I've ever had, and I live in the Ocean State. Each year, we go on a Sunday at 3pm (start of happy hour) and grab a bunch of Wellfleet oysters, some tuna tartare and a few cocktails. The bartender, Marten, is the nicest guy and he remembered us from the year prior. The ambiance is perfect inside, very quaint yet chic. Food and drinks were very good, but host was extremely rude. We had reservation, arrived 8 minutes early, told our table was not ready. I walk with a cane. The 3 of us stood in busy restaurant for a minute or two. Then I sat down at bar. Host immediately came to tell me I couldn't do that, there was a wait at the bar. I said I have a cane and I need to sit. He told me that if i had asked he would have gotten me a chair. With an attitude. He went and got chairs for all of us. We sat there for 15-20 minutes, past our reservation time, in the middle of server traffic. server was about to seat another party when I pointed out we were still waiting and then we got seated. The meal was fine, drinks, were good but HOST WAS TERRIBLE. Why not be gracious to someone with a cane? I cannot forget his smirking , supericilious attitude. Why not be pro-active and offer me a seat? Did he not realize that people use canes because of impaired mobility????? read more

We went there for the happy hour a few minutes before 5 pm. Asked the waiter why there is a 6 item minimum on the happy hour menu for appetizers and the waiter gave a long explanation and we said oh we will order more than 6 anyways, so we thought we are all set for happy hour prices. We even asked for more shrimps thinking happy hour prices. Then the check came with full prices, and when we asked, the waiter told the happy hour finishes at 5 pm, a few minutes after we came in. While having dinner, two guys dining across us made complaining gestures for our daughter's talking to us. I would stay away from this place at all costs. Victor's seems to have gone downhill in recent years. Used to terrific about 5 or 6 years ago, but each year since has slipped a bit. With four of us each ordering two things the staff would time it so that we would have a short break between items. But for the past few years they seemed to be in a rush to get us the food. Sometimes we would not even be finished one item when the next would arrive. With a few exceptions the quality of the dishes has degraded also. The mac & cheese was an absolute disgrace. You can make it better at home. Waste of money. Will probably skip the place in 2020. read more

This was listed in guides as "fine dining". I made a reservation for our 17th anniversary, thinking this would be a nice restaurant for a celebration. Totally wrong. It's a bar/fun time place that's tiny and noisy. They only serve appetizers at the price of an entree. On top of it all, it was a 1/2 hour hike outside of town in 90+ degree weather. Just so- so this our 3rd time dining at Victor's. The menu this summer has changed somewhat since the last 2 summers. Change by itself is fine but this summer too many offerings with halibut. The bruschetta was excellent as was the tuna tartare and ciopiino, but Asian steak was simply lousy . Tough and poorly tasting. Service was excellent. This year we were seated at a high top table in the much, much too noisy bar area. Since the bar area is so noisy, dinner should only be served in the dining room. We will remember to specify a table in the dining room for our next visit, should we return. Wine list is quite average, our cocktails were quite good. The place is lovely and the staff is charming, but it took almost an hour for our entrees to arrive, and when they did, my skirt steak comprised 7 or 8 little individual bites -- sort of a micro-mini skirt. The steaklet actually tasted great, but it was clear they were out of steak and were cobbling together what scraps they had. I didn't complain because it ruins the experience for everyone, but I won't be back -- unless I'm not hungry or in a rush. read more

We called for a reservation at Victor's mid week. It was for our last day of vacation in Provincetown and we looked forward to a celebration. We were left waiting when we showed up early for our reservation. We were told to wait another 15-20 minutes more. When we asked again about the time, the arrogant waiter told us that reservations are "only an estimate". As we watched large party groups of women enter immediately, we decided to leave. As you may know, it is nearly impossible to get another dinner reservation that late on a Friday night in Provincetown, MA... Don't risk your family celebration on this place and become the next victim of their arrogance... read more

And for a fine dining establishment, you committed the cardinal sin: not changing out the used flatware.
