How have I not written a review about this place yet?! I know. Its because places like these, gems, deserve the utmost attention ever. This is literally the best Vietnamese place in Albuquerque hands down. Where do I even begin... Ok so one downside is this place only has probably 12 tables, aka its small, so during peak times I hope you're wearing comfy shoes because you gunna wait! But after that, its game on like Donkey Kong! I really like how they use paper on the tables and replace them after each service. Makes the tables look real clean. The menus are clean, easy to read, and *gasp* numbered. Thank God because I don't even want to try and pronounce anything on that menu. Now on the the best part. The food. My natural go to is the tofu spring rolls and any of the noodle bowls. Some people really like the pho, but I really have to be in the mood for pho and it has to be really cold out. The spring rolls are kind of a meal in itself, so good. They're packed with tofu, noodles, lettuce and bean sprouts and served with a thick peanut-hoisin sauce on the side. Now my favorite main dish on any given day ending in 'y' is the pork and egg roll noodle bowl. The pork (or any of the meats) is marinated and grilled just perfectly to an outer crispy state and the chopped up egg roll is packed with flavor that makes it obvious it is homemade. And if it's not, they've fooled me. The bowl itself is huuuge and contains noodles on top of lettuce, cucumber, carrots, and bean sprouts aka vegi heaven! This is how I convince myself that stuffing my face to completion with this dish is 100% OK. So look, for reals, you must check out this place. I've been here so many times now I just call it "noodles" amongst close friends. "Hey, let's go get noodles". And they know. Go support this place. It's small, but way, way mighty. read more

There are a few Vietnamese places in ABQ, and this is high on the list of my faves. It's clean, the food is great, and the service is quick and friendly. My husband and I tried Viet Taste after hearing wonderful reviews on the food. The restaurant was clean and quiet. Service was fairly quick, but hard to get refills. Unfortunately though the food was terrible. All the food was bland (spring rolls, clay pot, and fried rice), rice was very mushy, and I'm pretty sure a bag of frozen vegetables were added to my fried rice, the carrots were still slightly frozen. read more

I typically order the #60 Spicy Lemongrass Noodle Bowl and love it every time. Today I ordered the #17 Well Done Steak Pho. The broth was delicious but the meat was less than desirable. It was thick and full of fat. I couldn't even eat the meat because it grossed me out. I recommend you get better quality meat for your Pho so this doesn't happen to another customer. read more

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We arrived cold, hungry and tired after a long drive from a short vacation. The restaurant was spotless and well decorated, the pho was honestly some of the best I've ever had, the serving sizes were enormous, excellent quality and freshness of ingredients, and the service was exceptional. Traditional or not, the service is friendly, its very affordable, food comes out fast and in my opinion pretty darn good. The food is decent. Services is spotty. I come here to get a taste of decent Vietnamese food and a lot of time it is the most convenient option. It is located by the Coronado Mall so there are a lot of businesses there and it is very conveniently located so if I feel lazy I will come here. Viet Taste was recommended to me by a friend when I had mentioned I had been craving Pho and it did not disappoint (even though I got the shrimp/crab Udon Noodle soup). My boyfriend got a grilled pork sandwich-which is technically an appetizer- and he really liked it. We also got some tasty egg rolls to start(see pic). On my second visit I received an app and entree that had no flavor at all - no spices, nothing. The entree was a chicken and veggie stir fry that had exactly one pea pod and a few small carrot slices in the entire dish (it was mostly noodles). The included fish sauce for my (bland, mealy) egg rolls was obviously watered down - nearly clear instead of slightly thicker than water and yellow in color. The hoisin sauce on the table was also watered down. I think Viet Taste needs to concentrate more on improving their flavors rather than trying to cut costs by shorting the customers. read more

Viet Taste is hands down the best Vietnamese in Albuquerque. I've been going here for years and although we have a wide variety of Vietnamese restaurants that are great, this place is my favorite for many reasons. The recent remodel is beautiful. The restaurant is twice the size it was before. The people who work here are amazing. I've never had to wait to be seated and never waited over 10 minutes for my food. Not to mention they have the most delicious Pho of all time. It is so good that I have rarely order anything else. Parking is tricky during dinner time due to the lot being so small and narrow but that may be the only minor inconvenience. Regardless, I go out of my way to eat here and 10/10 regret choosing another place to eat just because it's closer. read more

First time here! Right off the freeway so the location is very convenient. The inside is spacious and can seat plenty. Menu is vast and has a lot of Vietnamese dishes not usually offered, banh canh for example. My bun bo hue (spicy beef noodles) were overdone. Other than that there was a decent amount of meat in my bowl and it wasn't as spicy as I would have liked. The soy bean drink was arguably the best part of my meal and at $2, ya can't beat it! Me and my boyfriend went here to get some quick and filling noodles because we were starving. I ordered a pork noodle bowl and he had ordered a chicken udon bowl. When we got our food, mine looked and tasted great, but his chicken in the udon bowl was way over cooked. When our waiter asked if everything was okay, we told him we didn't care for the chicken in it because it was tough. He had asked for extra chicken and it seemed like the same amount of meat I got. Or waiter tried to argue that that was the way they cooked their chicken and that that is what he ordered.. he argued with us asking if we wanted to add a different entree to our bill! We told him "no can you take this back and get us something different?" Finally he brought him out a beef noodle bowl that was HALF the size of mine with an attitude and you could hear the people arguing about it in the kitchen. Then a different waitress at the end of our meal went to grab the check and was counting the money at the table to see if I left enough!! I still tipped 14%.. as someone who is a waitress of 3 years, I couldn't believe they wanted to argue instead of making us as customers happy by bringing us something different. Renovations were nice, but they're trying to copy Lime on Eubank and Montgomery. I'd recommend that place way more, very friendly and knowledgeable staff!! read more

This is an amazing and delicious operation! I stop in for lunch often because I LOVE the soups - your choice, egg or rice noodles. And the portions are really huge. I always take home half. Now have also tried and can recommend a dish they do that includes both noodles and pieces of egg rolls in a bowl! There are a few variations on this theme. The food is good, but I really dislike the waiters. I have been here more than 10 times. Sometimes the waiter makes us waiting for more than 10 minutes to serve us after we have been seated. They give us the bill while we are still working on the dishes (we just start eating for 5 minutes, and there are 20 minutes before the closing time). The worst thing is the waiter will check how much tip you write on the receipt IN FRONT OF YOU when you are still sitting there. There are other viet restaurants in ABQ that can provide the same good food, and their waiters are surely more polite. I will not come here again because I don't want to be treated rudely anymore. A good suggestion for you is to order the take-out. I still want to give a fair comment on the work of the chef. read more

I came here in hopes of finding a new place to enjoy pho regularly (when my mother isn't cooking it at home, of course), yet my expectations of this place were not met. Food: The pho was decent. The noodles were a little strange; they tasted very floury, and not chewy and fresh like I typically enjoy, and they broke apart easily. The hoisin sauce that I always love to add in pho was diluted and watery. The broth was decent, and so was the selection of meat. Service: It was lunch hour, and I understand that the waiters and waitresses were busy, however, it shouldn't take much for my water at the very least to be refilled. Throughout the hour that I was there, my friend and I were tended to a total of two times - once to order, and to pay. I even had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes to call someone in order to get change back from what I paid. How disappointing. This is my favorite Vietnamese Restaurant in Albuquerque! I am never disappointed with anything I order here. My favorite dish is #43 (Bahn Hoi) vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and meatballs. The meatballs taste like a high end spam grilled to perfection. The grilled pork is also delicious! The grilled onions also add to the deliciousness. I also have to add the fried egg rolls to complete my heavenly experience. Their Meatball Pho is also very tasty. The broth is good by itself or by doctoring it up with hoisin or chile sauce. My Wife's favorite dish is the grilled shrimp bun with vermicelli noodles. If you want wonton soup, it is also awesome. Formerly my favorite Asian restaurant and also the best Vietnamese restaurant in town. Their spring rolls are excellent - my favorite in Albuquerque. They also have excellent noodle bowls. The grilled chicken is excellent quality. I also enjoy their fried rice. Their Pho is good. I am not a huge pho fan, so I don't know if it's top notch, but it is really good. Years ago, the food was good. Now? Oily and bland. I was not impressed with my spicy lemongrass tofu and veggies. 1) Not spicy at all. 2) Super oily. My companion's noodle dish was really oily, too. I had to add several spoonfuls of chili sauce and sriracha for spice and hoisin sauce for flavor. Service was good and the restaurant was nice, but the food was disappointing. I love this place. Their food is fresh and delicious. These guys make food the way it is supposed to be made. I am still amazed that they have kept their prices so low for the food they serve. (about $7/person) When I go out to eat I want something that is better than what I can throw together at home and this place is...beyond. They are always busy when we go (which is usually dinner) and I have never eaten something I didn't like. I love anything on the menu with lemongrass. I also recommend the stuffed grape leaves YUM!
