I've had delicious pastries at Villa Nueva before, but yesterday I needed to find a birthday cake last minute. I walked into the cafe, and they had the most gorgeous red velvet cake in the display case. I asked if I could buy the whole cake, and they agreed to sell it to me. It was delicious! They did a great job decorating specially for the occasion. And they were very nice and accommodating all the way through the process. The service was first class. They even added a little pack of candles to the cake, which made it even more perfect. I can't wait until I can try another one of their delicious baked goods! read more

This is an OK place to visit on a nice day just because of the outdoor sidewalk space and it's visual appeal, but as far as the food itself - pretty average. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich, and it didn't have much flavor. My omelette was just OK, and the coffee could be a lot better for a pastry shop (it was like coffee at a diner or Denny's). read more

Christmas Day brunch here has been a great five star experience. From the order at the counter to finishing our meal, the servers and cashier are happy to be working today when most are not. We were visiting San Diego for the weekend, and drove into Coronado to look around. When we passed by VIlla Nueva, there were a number of people dining there, so we thought it must be good. Unfortunately, it took 35 minutes to get our food, and the food was really quite average to below average. I had the Huevos Rancheros which was a soupy, spicy mess. My wife had the "Coronado Burger" which I ate most of, because I was so hungry after waiting so long. The burger was overcooked and dry. Didn't get a chance to try the baked goods, but they looked okay...I wished we could have eaten at the Panera two doors down. One of the best places to get omelets pastries and coffee. One of my family's favorite breakfast venues here in Coronado! Pretty much everything you get here will over exceed your expectations. So we came here yesterday for the wife's bday breakfast/Memorial Day weekend after spotting this place off Orange. A simple setup of ordering and picking a seat (self seat) and food is brought out. We ordered breakfast stuff, including a cinnamon roll (yum! Get it) kids pancakes, croissant sandwich, and American toast (some may call it "French"). Everything was absolutely delicious, and we ended up coming back the next day for breakfast again. We suggest if you have multiple people in your party to have someone grab seats when you arrive, while the others order! Boutique-sized cafe with great breakfast eats & coffee. The jumbo mimosas are very tasty and a great value. Staff is very friendly.

Although this place can be hectic with customers, it was worth the wait. The orange blossom pancakes were phenomenal and the muffins were fresh and delicious. I also have to commend the staff with their customer service. I watched the staff handle so many customers, foreign and local, in such a confined and sometimes chaotic environment. My husband and I had breakfast here. The food was good, the service was friendly and fast, but I was very disturbed when I asked where the restrooms were I was told they didn't have and and to use Starbucks restroom because that was public. I asked Starbucks and it's not a public restroom but they let me use it because I'm six months pregnant. Its time for Vill Nuevo to stop mooching off of Starbucks and get a bathroom for their patrons! read more

Ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and the Greek omelet. They forgot the side of bacon, but the burrito was good, very filling. My girlfriend loved the Greek omelet. Overall, good bang for your buck, definitely wish they offered table service. read more

I used to come here every week for an omelette but after getting horrible phone service I will never return. The person on the phone first told me they were too busy to take my order then demanded I give him my credit card on the phone. I always pay with cash and didn't feel very comfortable giving my card by phone so I refused. This was the manager apparently. I won't be back. read more

This was my first and LAST time here. I was a waitress for 6 years at Chilis and the customer is always right, even if there is a mistake you treat the customer (me) with respect vs telling me that I was at fault and that they did nothing wrong at all. She did not apologize whatsoever or try to make peace with the situation they were very defensive and we're arguing with me at the counter in front of other customers which I would've never done on a professional level at a restaurant but obviously this is a café and not a restaurant. The list of sandwiches behind the cashier does not even say sandwiches on the board and when I told her that I wanted the avocado and toast for some reason she recommended me a sandwich because it had the spinach and the cucumber however I do not recall her at all repeating that it was a sandwich but she firmly insisted that it was a sandwich. She did remember me saying that I was vegan which I appreciated since there was no cheese on anything however the full description of the item was nothing like what I pictured it was and I was very dissatisfied with my overall experience here. Although I do not recall at all saying it was the sandwich even if you did say it and for some reason I did not remember you still should not be that defensive with your customers you were very rude and unprofessional and I wish you would've done more to accommodate to the paying customers, which I also tipped you and should not have obviously done. read more

Ahhh this place is a hit or miss when it comes to coffee. I've heard their pastries are delish. I think next time I'll just purchase the muffins they have there. I ordered a mocha drink the last time and boy did it taste plain. I was basically drinking milk with ice. Super disappointed with my purchase since we had to battle the coronado traffic and look for parking. Next time I'll just get a muffin and go somewhere else for coffee. Other than the bombed drink, the cafe is neat looking and parking can be a drag on the weekends. read more

Visited Villa Nueva on a Sunday just before noon and was pleased that they were still serving breakfast (our first restaurant of choice was not). The baked goods look phenomenal. We ordered breakfast but decided to add a cookie because they looked so wonderful. The place was crowded and it took quite a while to get our food. However, everyone really enjoyed their meal (our group had omelet, breakfast burrito, eggs benedict and pancake sandwich). I can't comment on the mexican fare, but the breakfast was quite outstanding. I think I'll have to go back and try the cinnamon raisin bread soon. read more

Little cafe in Coronado. I had an amazing ultimate omelet with potato cuts and a mocha. It was really good and filling. The mocha drink was delicious. Friends got sandwiches and omelets and were all happy with what they got. I will definitely go back here. read more

I was so excited to grab Starbucks but saw this cute little cafe next to Starbucks. Which was probably the biggest Starbucks I've ever seen. Everyone was really friendly. I loved their food. We got the Greek omelette, waffle and pancake sand which. Everything was delicious. It's a must try. Can't wait to come back. read more

Lovely cafe, lovey women working there. We had California omelette, an egg & spinach wrap and fruit parfait. Everything was very tasty and perfect portions. Food was hot and oj was great! I loved it here, would recommend it and will be going back! Only recommendation is to make some salsa for the omelettes! Hubby disappointed. This place is great! My wife and I have been there three times and loved the food and service every time. This is not a fast food joint. You are supposed to sit and relax.
