Unfortunately I can't give a zero star but we were there on Sunday, Aug 22, 2021 around 11a. We ordered and after an hour, we still did not have our food. We ordered avocado toast and a bagel and lox. Many other customers after us got their food. We asked many times throughout the hour where are food was but nothing! Finally a burnt bagel came out and my avocado toast never came. We sent it back, got our money back and left. They are clearly very disorganized. Please don't waste your time here! read more

They have huge muffins. Tender and fresh, not too sweet. Better to share, because they are generous. Coffee and expresso drinks are very good. Nice strong flavor without bitterness. Great customer service. My husband and cousin have been buying some baked goods from this store but today was my first time to come and see the shop personally. I was so excited! Unfortunately, the shop closed at 2 and we arrived just after 2. The doors were locked. We waited a while until the nice gentleman working inside the store saw us and asked us what we wanted. We only wanted the deliciously large orange cranberry muffins that the bakery sold. He was so nice to accommodate us on this purchase. HORRIBLE service to a child. The person at the register forgot to add in 1 of the 5 children's breakfasts this morning and then when it was noticed told us that we needed to wait in a line that was out the door again to rectify the situation. Letting a child go hungry for a $5 meal that they could have just charged us from the table. Or gee maybe they should have comped the children's 5 dollar meal? Considering we have spent over $100 on a party of 10 worths of breakfasts. We will not be back or telling any of our friends to come here. After a wonderful walk through the hoods of Coronado, we settled here for lunch. A fresh and delicious tuna sandwich with a different, but delightful clam chowder. Ate outside. Fun to watch passers by activity. Lots of good looking pastries in the displays. Some obvious regulars enjoying their time. Sweet and casual. read more

Good place to hang out and relax. Food is okay. Came here for brunch after looking unsuccessfully for a breakfast place. It was quite busy and we had to wait for a table. Food was not bad. We were a party of five and got huevos rancheros, florentine omellette, 2 eggs and bacon, primavera omellette. The potatoes were a bit over cooked. The croissant was hard and not flaky. The eggs were good. The unlimited coffee and tea was probably the best part. There's no rest room. It seemed like a family owned restaurant with an aunt and her nieces running the place. Went back to buy some pastries and the experience was a bit less desirable than the first time I stopped in. It was two older men operating the cash register and I gave them my order for pastries 3 times and he kept telling me to slow down. They had a new register and he did not know how to use it. Finally after I paid for everything, they were still not sure which flavors of muffins I ordered so I said just give me whatever. I would recommend going in the morning. Charming little eatery. We were able to sit outside with our dog. Ordering takes place at the counter and they bring it out to you. Tasty (and HUGE) omelettes that are cooked perfectly. Not gooey or runny at all. Huge chunks of avocado in the California. Comes with a sinfully delicious mini croissant and country potatoes. A good-sized portion, I couldn't even finish it. The food and coffee were decent, nothing amazing but not terrible. Same with the service. The reason I'm writing this review is to complain about the styrofoam cups and plasticware. We ordered coffee to drink while we ate at the restaurant and were handed styrofoam cups. When our food came out we were given a plastic knife and fork wrapped in a plastic bag. The food came quickly, and tasted ok, but I just couldn't believe that they were using disposable cups, forks and knives for people that ate at the restaurant. They also have a nice outside front patio/seating area that is dog friendly. But until they start using less disposable products I'd say avoid this place. read more

We stopped at Villa Nueva one day for brunch and had a nice time. It's within walking distance of Hotel Del Coronado. You order up at the counter, get a number from the cashier, find a seat and they bring you your food. Kind of like at Panera Bread. They have tables and chairs outside, so we got to enjoy the sunny weather and eat out there. It was pretty busy when we went on the weekend but we were able to get the last table that was open. I ordered a mimosa and eggs benedict. This being my "go-to" breakfast choice. Overall it was a good meal, nothing too memorable but not bad either. Came here for lunch. Everyone was very friendly and the place was really cute and very clean. All of the pastries in the case looked sooo good (especially the muffins- which I can't stop thinking about!) We sat outside- great people watching. Caesar Salad- good. Ferry Landing Sandwich (chicken salad)- good, but a strange combination of ingredients. It was called "Almond Chicken Salad" but from what I could tell it also had capers, black olives, grapes, and something that tasted like pumpkin seeds.. it was a little strange but alright enough to eat. The pasta salad that came with it was delicious! All in all I'd say stop here for a nice place to catch up with a friend or people watch and eat a pastry or muffin. After ordering at the counter, you place your number card on your chosen table and wait what seems like a long time. It is good to know that the food is great when it gets there. The cafe was cute and the service was friendly and fast, granted I only ordered a latte and a bear claw. However, it was the bear claw that made me take off the stars. Even though I was there around 10:30am, the pastry tasted at least a day old, definitely not baked the same day. Finally made time to eat a full breakfast (been coming here to get muffins and coffee) here and was very unsatisfied. It took so long to get our food and the people who ordered their food after we did got served first. When we talked to a waitress, it was clear that they had forgotten us, brought us our food, unapologtic and the food was cold. We did not recieve the same friendly service that was provided to the table right next to us. I was so frustrated but didn't want to ruin a rare morning date with my husband. Town was extremely busy, and there was a pretty long line everywhere, even here when we arrived to order our food. But the service was fast, the food was really good. I had a Rasberry Turnover, which was the BEST i ever had. From what i read here they are very well known for their pastries. Here's the reason for the 2 stars. I orderes the Coronodo Burger, comes w fries. $9.50! This DOESNT include the drink. Had this burger been delicious, i would have easily given them 5 stars for great food & pastries. It was a huge burger, however the meat had no taste. no seasoning or anything. My burger sucked & my fries were hard as rocks. Ordering at the register takes too long. If you are over at Coronado, this is a nice place to get a leisurely breakfast/lunch, sit outside and enjoy the weather. Be warned, however, that it is small, so if there is a rush, there may not be seating. They had solid brunch food, and muffins that are amazing! All of their pastries look delicious, and if I go back, it will definitely be to try some of them. The staff is very nice and helpful (they seem to be used to having tourists and people who do not know the lay of the land). I live in Coronado, and this is the only place I like to come to for breakfast. They have delicious omelets and amazing fresh baked muffins! My favorite muffin is their pumpkin muffin. I also like their salmon toast! The servers are so nice and very helpful. Also, this place doesn't have a restroom, so that's the only bad thing, but you can go next door to Starbucks. The place was so crowded with people brunching I didn't even think to look this place up on yelp... Their baked goods are unnecessarily too large and don't taste that great. All the Muffins had some weird grease taste and nothing tasted impressive...
