Restaurant Review When you see the sign outside of this restaurant for the first time it's not the most attention grabbing, but when you enter the restaurant you're smacked in the face with aromas of foods like pizza, burgers, and pastas. It's also warm from the ovens in the back that are constantly on for the pizza so it could possibly make it uncomfortable while eating there.They're only two tables inside so I've seen this restaurant more as a take out restaurant. The greatest part of this restaurant is its variety of food Service: Where I live now it takes me 40 min to get there so by the time I get there my 18' pizza is fresh out the oven when I walk in I'm always greeted by the person at the register. I've never had an issue with service or any of the employee's. They deliver, but if you're not in the boundary then they won't deliver. I've been getting the same thing from this restaurant since I was two years old. An 18 inch thin crust pizza with extra sausage and in my 15 almost 16 years going to this place and I've never been disappointed with my food or service nor have I ever even thought getting something different because the Italian sausage is unlike any other that claim they have Italian sausage with ever bite into the the perfectly squared pieces your pleases and flabbergasted that there's pizza in the world that is this good. read more

Villa Palermo catered a party I went to last night, and the food was fantastic! I had no idea that they did more than your typical pizza joint. Everything was delicious - the shrimp was perfectly cooked and had great flavor, their hummus was amazing (and I'm never amazed by hummus), my husband loved the dried meats, and the antipasto plate was gorgeous. Ok, so let me start off by telling you, my family and I have been ordering pizza from VP (Villa Palermo) since we moved in less than a block (YIKES!) away in 1992. Their pizza is so freakin good! I've tried so many other pizza places in the area but nothing compaires to the delishessness that is Palermos pizza. Their salads and pastas are super good also. We've been ordering from Villa Palermo for over ten years. The pizza and salads are great. The salads especially go on forever. Everything else on the menu has taken a downturn though. The pastas are obviously frozen and nuked in the microwave. But yes we keep coming back for the salads and pizza. The garlic dressing is to die for. Also...um...best to get delivery. The place is really filthy. Best not to look. I'm also wondering why the menu is not available on line. You can find several versions that are truncated with most of the prices left out. If it were possible to give a negative five stars I would. Two nights ago I ordered fries and wings from Villa Palermo. I ended up only eating a couple of wings and the fries that night (which were obviously store bought and WAY over cooked.) as I was not as hungry as I thought. I woke up feeling sick, which I disregarded since I had been drinking the night before. For lunch that day I had the leftover wings, which I stuck in the oven. And they admittedly tasted pretty good. This is the best overall restaurant for delivery in Roger's Park. Everything from the beefy sandwiches to pizza is excellent and priced better than others. I order from here all the time but lately I've had bad experiences. The last few times my order has taken forever to be delivered and food is always cold. Last nights order took more than an hour and a half to get here, the driver called and asked if I had ordered pizza and that he would be here in a minute, when he arrived at the gate he called and said be was there and I told him he needed to press the bell #s in order for me to buzz him in from my phone (I live in a huge apartment building with a gate that the only way to get in is when the bell rings on your phone) well anyway he hung up on me. I've lived in Roger's Park since I was 11 and had their pizza since--best pizza in Chicago, no exaggeration, and I've had more than I can count; Father & Son, Ranalli's, D'Augustino's, and none of them measure up to Villa Palermo's. They also have great specials--1 topping family or party size thin crusts with one ingredient on Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays, always such a good deal! Their chicken fingers are also delicious. Always crispy but not dry, with large chunks of chicken breast tenders--their BBQ is smoky and has a nice kick and their ranch is good too. Their Italian beef and Palermo special are also delicious, so is their coleslaw and the fries are your standard frozen fries, and depending on the day they might be soggy or just right but its fries, it's like that everywhere--big portion though! Their breaded cauliflower is also awesome, it's my favorite side they have, never disappoints and comes with ranch! I used to love their onion rings when it was the cheaper kind--I know, the small rings, but the portion was so big, then they switched to steak cut onion rings that I don't very much care for--most might prefer but I like my onion rings bite size and plenty, but oh well. They have good pasta too, though I don't really order that much anymore since I learned to cook my own. Their gnocci was tough and kind of flavorless and I learned how to make my own gnocci too, but for those that don't know how to cook, I suppose its a good buy. Lasagna I also wasn't a fan of, but that's more because I don't like ricotta, and not a knock on their execution on the dish. I had the veal parm dinner once--found it too salty and overcooked but that might have just been a bad night. They have delicious homemade meat balls and delicious Italian sausage! Goes great in sandwiches or on their pastas. They have a decent fish sandwich worth its price but I wasn't really a fan of the steak. There was nothing wrong with it, I guess I'm just not a steak sandwich guy unless its moist and decked out with fresh grilled onions. Oh, how could i forget? Great pizza puff, so good! Their calzone is also out of this world good, always hot, fresh and huge, it's big enough for 3. And that's my review of nearly 20 years as a frequent customer here. So, I am ONLY giving this place 1 star, and if I could it would be 0 stars!!!! I have been religiously ordering pizza's from this place almost 3 times a month, so I should be considered a pretty loyal customer. I noticed there was a Groupon for a 14" pizza with 1 topping for $8...what a steal right!!!??? Well, I do not have a car, and can only have pizza's delivered. I made sure to read ALL FINE PRINT, before I bought it, because I can only have it delivered, and wanted to make sure that it wasnt "dine in only" or "Carryout only," because I didnt want to waste my money. So after reading all fine print, I said Awesome...I will take it!!!! I go to call, and a young guy answers. I tell him I would like to use my groupon for delivery. He laughs and says..you cant do that only for pickup. So I go through my lecture about how I read ALL the fine print, and NOWHERE on he groupon or in the fine print, does it say Pick Up only....I went on to say that this is false advertising, and I am very upset since I have been a loyal customer that you will not honor this. The young kid dismisses anything I had to say, and says hold-on. A few seconds later, an older man gets on the phone, and this is when I get pissed! I had to explain the whole thing all over again, he even tells me that he knows it is not right, and they have been telling Groupon to fix it!!!!!!!?????? I say, well, they didnt and this is false advertising......you by law, have to honor this. He absolutely refused, told me I had to talk to the owner. So, as I am going to say ok, well, I still need to order food....he just hung up on me!!!!!!!!!!!! What???!!!! Is this a joke????!!!!!!! He literally hung up on me....this man that should be managing the business, and should be skilled in customer service, hung up on a customer...UNACCEPTABLE!!!! I am so pleased with how the owner handled my previous situation. He responded to my review and I spoke to him on the phone. He was very concerned about my last delivery and offered to resend the order at no cost to myself. I had some friends in town from New York and he also threw in a Chicago style pizza. My guests literally inhaled the food and they are picky eaters. The Italian Beef and Chicken Parm were excellent and the minestrone soup was great. The pizza everyone thoroughly enjoyed and when I took my friends to the airport they were eating the leftover cold pizza in the car. First let's go over my order. A cheeseburger with raw onions, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. Onion rings and a brownie. I will go over the food first. The ONLY good. The onion rings. Bit soggy but were still decent. Not great but decent. Edible to say the least. NOWWWWWWWW let's move in to this atrocious thing they call a cheeseburger. First off I had no raw onions. The bread was soggy from them putting the TOMATO on the bottom of the bread with the wet lettuce and a wet nasty ass pickle. The grilled onions were old. I could taste it. It was slimy and yuck. *shivers*. The burger was awful! It was cold and it tasted as if they cooked it and had it sitting around. Not to mention it took a very short amount of time to delivery which makes me think my stuff was not cooked fresh. When it bit into that burger it was like biting into cooked rubber. The burger was bland and the cheese you could also see was old. It was just frigging awful. The whole burger was awful and should be arrested. Now the brownie. I'm allergic to peanuts and I feel that you should have a little note under brownie like they do for other dishes that says "has walnuts". So I spent two dollars on a brownie which I was told was awful. I mean it had a star by burger, which means its a darn favorite. NOT! AWFUL JUST AWFUL. It took less than 30mins to get my food to me and the place is like 15mins away from my house. Do the math dudes. No. That was not fresh. I ordered from this place before and had the same problem and another so I decided to give it a try again. No longer will I order from here. Very sad. I didn't eat the burger. I tried this pizza on the insistence of a good friend and I'm glad for it. So far I've just had the cheese pizza on thin crust but I love it. It's my go-to cheesy, late night food crush. I'll definitely expand my horizons and try their other menu items and toppings. I do have to point out the couple times I've chosen to have it delivered, it seems rather slow and the pizza has been pretty lukewarm- so maybe stick with carryout. I have been ordering from this place for literally 22 years but have only recently been reviewing places on Yelp. In that time no one is perfect but I really like this place. Last Saturday I ordered for delivery a stuffed pizza, chicken dinner, and Italian beef sandwich and had a few special requests which were all met like usual. The person on the phone was super clear speaking and all business. The food got here in a reasonable time and was hot and exactly as I ordered, which is really the big thing when you get take out. Cuz if something is wrong you don't find out till the guy leaves and then you are stuck waiting again, but that didn't occur. I have tasted nearly everything on the menu that I would ever care to order and the biggest problem I have is deciding what I want. If you want food/pizza from a non-chain delivery place this is the way to go. I will be ordering from this place as long as they exist lol. Especially good is their thin crust and stuffed pizza, pizza puffs, sandwiches, pasta and their ribs and chicken dishes are great as well. Im not a fan of salad but when it comes with my order I always get the delicious garlic dressing. The food usually comes with a drink and there are a bunch of coupons and daily specials on the menu. Unbelievable! Second time I order from this place with problems. First time The delivery man dropped my pizza then tried giving to me and runs off. I had to complain wait an hour to get another pizza. This time the delivery driver never rings the doorbell or knocks on the door but calls and lies he did and then gives me an attitude. Guess, same delivery guy. He's pissed cause I complained. I call the store and the manager doesn't let me get a word in and bitches me out telling me why would his worker makes things up. Good stuffed sausage pizza. Sauce was a bit too sweet for me, but it was really fresh, with tons of cheese and a well-made crust. I'm normally able to snarf down any pizza in two sittings, but this thing was a monster for as thin as it looked from the outside. It seriously took me three days to finish, and weighed several pounds. I also got two entrees, one of which was a perch dinner with spaghetti, and the other of which was a bbq chicken dinner with fries. The 4 pc chicken tasted fine, but was missing most of its parakeet-sized leg, which unfortunately happens to be my favorite part, (couldn't tell if there was a processing accident, or the poor little bird was just deformed) and the fries were limp, crinkle-cut blobs that reminded me of a grade school cafeteria lunch. 2 stars for the chicken dinner. Perch smelled a bit fishy, but tasted fine, and the spaghetti side was exactly as expected. 3 stars for the perch dinner. Oh yeah, and there were two soggy side salads, which came already dressed, smooshed into tiny styrofoam cups. Honestly, if I were just basing this review on the entrees, it would probably be 2.5 or 3 stars at most, but the pizza was better than average and the order taker was really nice and friendly, plus they came a long way to deliver it (with a free soda), and it arrived within the time frame stated, so I rounded up. read more

Great Pizza! Their thin crust pizza actually has flavor. And their ingredients are super fresh. It is not expensive and their portions are very reasonable. I also love their fried calamari.
