This place is aweful. I have no grounds for judgment of the ambience of the joint, or their catering ability, but I am now unfortunately expierenced in Villa Palermo's food. Granted, neither my girlfriend nor I ordered pizza here, but the pasta was absolutly aweful. My girlfriend ordered the meat ravioli with marinara. She said it was disgusting, and I tried some my self and I had to agree. The sauce was horribly soupy with no texture or body (which you can expect out of a tomato vodka mind you, but not a marinara). We questioned the horrible consistency and taste of the sauce and our conclusion was that they add a ton of water to a little amount of sauce to save some money, but they don't rinse out their post well enough to get all the soap residue out (not kidding, her first comment was related to the fact her sauce tasted like laundry detergent). I saw her reaction and decided to dig into my baked chicken alfredo to see if we would have the same complaints. While the dish looked impressive, once I got under the tick layer of melted motz. I couldn't believe it. The alfredo sauce was disgusting. The food was so bad that we could not finish it, took the loss of $32 in inedible food, and hit the phone again to call in another delivery order from a different resturant. Ordered food from Villa Palermo via Grubhub, got the confirmation text and tracked on-line. Ordered at 6:37pm, first delivery estimate was within about an hour. Delivery estimate was updated to 7:35 - 7:45, ok fine no big deal. Then at 8:05 I start chatting with Grubhub customer service, it takes them 15 minutes to respond after the initial greeting - order is in process. So then I ask for an update on the ETA, they say 7:35 (???), I respond with 8:35? they say 7:35 (and say they just checked) I say it's 8:32 here now. They finally come back and say that the restaurant didn't get the order and they are really sorry and I will be given a full refund for the cost (LIKE THERE WAS ANOTHER OPTION). Then they tell me it will take 3 to 5 days for the refund, with the 4th holiday that means a potential of more than a full week ... NOPE, AmEx will be giving me my money back tonight. This is absolutely the worst pizza place in Chicago. I've ordered from them three times and they messed it up every single time. The first two pizzas came so cold I had to send them back. The second time they promised a new pizza right away and it took them two hours to deliver it which was 10 PM at night as we were going to bed. Even if you pay for something and they're out of it they will charge your card and deliver the pizza and your order incorrect and then blame you for it. When I told them I wanted the order corrected or I wanted a refund they laughed at me. When I told them I would write this review they said "I look forward to it." If I could give the negative stars I would. They're completely rude and do not deserve it even a single try. If you're interested in getting a quality pizza in a reasonable amount of time look elsewhere. If you enjoy being treated like crap and receiving cold pizza at twice the delivery time as any other place in the area, you've found it. read more

Villa Palermo serves the best deep dish pizza in the city! You want this for your next party! Other places in Chicago deliver this so-called 'pie' that turns out to be mostly thick bread crust with a little topping scattered on top. When Villa Palermo says 'deep dish pie', they mean a deep dish _pie_ stuffed with your toppings. Nothing compares to this pizza in Chicago or elsewhere. While I lived in Chicago, we ordered Palermo at least once a week. When my wife and I traveled across the country recently, Villa Palermo was the first Chicago stop to go on the list. Anyone complaining here is probably related to a competitor or they'd complain about a free lunch. You really should try this place. read more

I have ordered from Villa for a few years, the service is hit or miss. Mostly it is a hit. Till the last couple of times, it was more of a miss. The young lady who answers seems to be really in a bad surly mood. The first time I asked for another person to take my order. The second time today, I called at 6:25 pm, the same young lady, placed my order, SO wanted to hang up and not bother. I told her she should sound not so miserable, she was like "your address is.... your total is...." I asked to speak to the manager, I spoke with Joe, he was cool, apologized offered to give me a discount etc. I was like no need, I just wanted him to be aware of the young lady and her surly attitude. He said he would take my order from now on, just to ask for him. I was like ok can do. He offered again to give me a discount etc. I was like no big deal, I felt like he HEARD me. I called at 7:41pm to check on my order, surly girl said it would be an hour. Way past that, asked for Joe to be sure, gave him my name, he seemed not to remember me, but assured me that the order was in route and hung up. I was like um ok sure. Waited an additional 13 minutes, spoke with Joe again, this time he remembered me, he thought I had canceled my order. I was like I called like 15 minutes earlier and you said it was in route. Now I was royally unhappy and told him as much. He then said he was busy talking to like others when he was on the phone with me the second time. Made me feel good! NOT! Then when I was venting my strong disappointment and explaining I had a 5 year old hungry boy he was like I can have a pizza there in 45 minutes, I was like I need one in 15 minutes, he then said he was busy had 5 other calls on hold and I was holding him up. I know for a fact , that a managers top priority is the customer in front of him or on the phone and I felt like I was not a priority to Joe or to Villa Palermo. I come all the way from Cali for this pizza! The cheese is so fresh & the pepperoni is so good with no greasy after-taste. When My Favorite Guy picks me up from the airport Palermo is always our first stop. Our favorite is the thin crust palermo special pizza with fresh tomatoes on top! I hope the boss of the place reads this because I want him to know the girls at the front counter are some of the hardest working chicks ever!! That phone never stops ringing & the front counter area is always packed!! No matter how busy they are they always greet me with a friendly smile & a piping hot fresh pizza!! They deserve a BIG FAT Raises!! I also never leave town without having at least one cheeeeeeeezy italian beef sandwich! Yum! I wish I had one right now!
