Good food, good service. Has a family feel. It's not the nicest restaurant in town but it has people with experience, and the owners really care for the place. Came last night with friends who live in the area. We passed here last week and saw a sign saying best duck in Long Island, well have to admit it was. Duck is from a local farm. Was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a cherry sauce that was not to sweet and went perfectly with the duck. The desserts were excellent and made on premise. Right on the side of Montauk Highway, Villa Pauls may be hard to find if it it your first time going to the restaurant. The restaurant looks like a large home. Very cute.... Inside, the dining room looks a little plain with polished wooden walls. However, the fireplace in the middle of the dining can be very romantic during the winter. I've always been satisfied with the food at Villa Pauls. Fried calamari is always crisp and never rubbery. The marinara sauce is tangy with lots of flavor. I've had the salmon which was good, but nothing that made me say woah! I tried the porterhouse the last time.... don't get it marinated. I don't know, for me, it tasted as if there was charcoal on my steak. It looked as if it had been blackened with spicy which was totally not the case. However, I was litterally scraping off the marinade. All entres comes with a salad. Sometimes they have a prix fixe menu in which dessert is also included. Desserts are always great....something to look forward to after dinner. Service is great. Better than most restaurants. They are attentive, polite, and always made sure our glasses were never empty :-) They cleared our plates when we were finished and gave us new utensils when they took them away. I like this place. This place was the worst experience in my life. I decided to give it a second chance. The bartender is not friendly and makes you feel unwelcome. Never smiles and looks like she can't wait to get out of there. The dining room on the other side and food is mediocre. The front when you walk in looks a little more better than a dive bar. And no host or anybody friendly to welcome you. Looks more like the bartenders place with a couple of her senior citizen friends getting drunk. read more

Delicious authentic Italian spot on the south shore! I had the chicken Parmesan. The portions were manageable and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed how I had the option to get meat sauce on my pasta on the side, instead of just marinara. I also tried some of the Penne a la Vodka. It was quite creamy and delicious. There was prosciutto in the sauce which was a great touch. If you are looking for a cozy Italian sit down restaurant on the south shore, this is one of your best bets! read more

After finding the Cowfish restaurant unappealing, as well as Rumba, a totally overcrowded beach hangout, with a one hour wait, we tried Villa Paul. Although we did not have reservations (which I suggest), we were seated promptly, apparently just prior to the evening rush. A mature and quiet crowd created a relaxing environment, which together with the lovely decor, felt very European. Service was pleasant and efficient. I had pasta bolognese with a meatball. The meatball was very tasty, as was the bolognese sauce, and both were cooked to perfection. I love my bolognese sauce, and this one was compelling. The cost of the meal was very reasonable, and it helped that you could select half portions of the entree. We did not have desert, but my wife and I left contented and agreed that this was a restaurant we would be happy to return to. read more

I felt compelled to write this review after having a spectacular dinner with my husband the other night for our anniversary. In Hampton Bays there are many new restaurants to choose from and some are good of course, but this entire summer we did not have a meal as good as we had at Villa Paul the other night. Not at any other restaurant, anywhere, including the surrounding towns. The fact is, Villa Paul is a charming place without all the bells and whistles that many places out here have now and that is because their focus is to provide a quaint time and a fantastic meal. We have never once had a bad meal at Villa Paul and we can not wait to go back. Just so you know what we ate, we had Clams Casino App, Shrimp Scampi App, a Porterhouse Steak and Chicken Marsala. Plus when you get your bill your not shocked like most of these other places. We will be sure to be back soon. read more

We haven't been to the Hamptons in over 2 decades. Driving around 7:30pm looking for a place to eat. Drove past Villa Paul. Looked very nice from the outside so we decided to try it out. I'm glad we made that U-Turn. Greeted warmly by the hostess and then Meaghan our server. Ordered the Linguini with White Claim Sauce. Since I really liked the shirt I was wearing, decided to go with Rigatoni instead of Linguini. Wife ordered Scallops with a side of pasta & marinara sauce. The white claim sauce was a perfect blend of chopped claims, garlic and other seasoning. The broth was so good, I needed more bread to soak up every last drop. My wife's entree consisted of 10 nice sized Scallops in a very tasty sauce. Usually the "side of pasta in marinara" is left lightly touched in many restaurants. That was not the case. The marinara sauce tasted home-made and we finished the entire side dish. While sitting there I texted my friend John, whom graciously let us use his condo, I mentioned we were at Villa Paul. His return text said that I must try the "brickle" for desert. We asked Meaghan what was "brickle" and she also claimed it is a highly ordered desert that they are known for that contains toasted almonds, ice cream and whipped cream. Even though we were full, we folded to the peer pressure. Wow-I could've eaten 2 more pieces of "brickle". It came out exactly as described-piece of ice cream cake with chopped toasted nuts on top, drizzled with caramel and 2 scoops of whipped cream. Came here on a Saturday night with a party of 6. The service was great and attentive. The ambiance was adorable. You feel like you're having dinner at your family home. But mostly importantly the food was AMAZING!! As an appetizer we had the ahi tuna poke. The tuna was light and fresh and the seaweed was also prepped well and not chewy at all, as it can be sometimes. As an entrée I had one of their daily specials; the shrimp stuffed flounder, and my mouth is literally watering thinking about it. I received not one but two portions of flounder and it literally melted in your mouth. All in all great experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone. read more

First let me say I love the Villa Paul. It's great for any occasion. I wouldn't really describe it as an Italian restaurant, but more continental. My favorite dish is the veal saltimbaca which has a lemony sauce, prosciutto and mozzarella on each medallion of veal. It rests over a bed of spinach. The clams casino are also a favorite. The brickel dessert is very good and reminds me of pecan pie stuffed with vanilla ice cream. The service is excellent and most staff have been there a long time. I am young and always considered this an old place. You know, traditional. Great food. Just safe, and not experimentive. My mother and father in law loved this place. My mother in laws memorial was held here (she died Thanksgiving week in 2015). They did a fantastic job. I am going there tonight and writing this review before I go. (I am not psychic). It is the one year anniversary of my mother in law's death, and we are going to eat, drink and be merry (and miss her a lot in the process). But that is what the Villa Paul actually means. It isn't one thing. It isn't the food. It isn't the atmosphere. It is mostly the memory. In the end it's all we have. Thanks for the great memories. read more

Took 3 guests there for dinner last Sat. night. We sat over 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. Then waitress brought 3 drinks and we waited for the 4th. She did not take one persons entire order but took each individual appetizer and then went around table for our entre. Again she brought out 3 apps. and after a good 10 minutes brought out the 4th which was a wedge of iceberg which we sent back to kitchen. When she brought out my prime ribs she spilled the au jus on one person's pants and sleeve. Went here tonight for the first time for our Anniversary. We were greeted by an older man who I assumed was the manager. Told him we were celebrating our Anniversary. We were the first guests in the restaurant. Room is beautiful and our waitress was great. When we ordered the waitress told us we could either get a potato and a vegetable with our entree or a side dish of pasta. I asked the waitress what kind of pasta and sauce could I get and she said any kind you'd like. I asked her if I could Carbonara and she said yes. Appetizers, entrees, side dishes and dessert were all very good. When I got the check I noticed I was charged $30 for my chicken entree and side of pasta when I know it was $26. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said she would go check with the manager. She came back and said she spoke to the manager and he said I was charged an extra $4 for Carbonara sauce. The waitress apologized and said she didn't know it was extra and was sorry she told me there was no extra charge. She said she felt bad and I told her not to worry about it and it wasn't her fault. The manager should have taken the $4 charge off since it does not say anywhere on the menu that certain sauces for side dishes of pasta cost extra and because the waitress told us we could get any sauce with any pasta. I would have given it 4 stars but that left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We have eaten here twice since Villa Paul reopened, eating on the front porch. Both times we had great meals. I had the delicious duck, and my husband had a special, chicken JoJo, also delicious. Our waiter was very good. The second time he had the duck and I had another chicken dish. We were very happy with the food and service. We will be back. I was really craving Italian. This is your very good but very standard classic Italian restaurant. They always have fresh seafood specials, we tried the softshell crab, as well as the bacon wrapped scallops which were both delicious. I had stumbled in here, one day, just on a whim- They had a huge, free, delicious buffet for their anniversary (20th? 30th? 500th?). It was a laid-back, unsnobby atmosphere... very comfortable, but formal, at the same time. The bartender gave me quite a unique, coffee-based drink that she created... also delicious. Great live acoustic duo, as well... We then, decided to go back for a real-deal dinner. Being the rockstars that we are, we arrived quite late (relatively speaking for formal restaurants- around 9:20). The young gentleman, at the door, made us feel right at home, however, when we inquired...took our drink and app. orders...very pleasant...no rush... UNTIL... This stressed-out, waitress, apparently out-ranking our dashing, young friend, heisted our table from him and was very fussy-rushy... We had our hearts in our throats, most of the time... If she had someplace better to be, we really wished she would have just gone THERE, instead! She was even rolling her eyes by the door, in frustration, when we left (not at us, directly - she just had somewhere to go...). There were still two tables that had patrons, however, but I guess she attempted to rush their buck, too...Although the male couple, next to us, with their full, red wine glasses, wasn't going anywhere, any time soon (my heroes)! That being said, if you don't get there later in the evening and this waitress has nowhere else to be, the atmosphere and food were spectacular. The muscles marinara were the best I have EVER had...this is saying a lot... a huge statement... We even ordered ( and paid for!) an extra serving of garlic bread to sop up this Heavenly sauce... unreal. The escargot were served in their full, opal-like shells - I have never seen such an elegant presentation of this dish. Absolutely delectable, if you like that mollusk sort of thing... I had the chicken parm. (I was feeling rarely simple) and it had a great crisp to the edges that really added to the flavor and texture...Excellent. The angel hair was cooked just a tad much, for my adamantly al dente taste, but still very likeable. The dirty martinis were great... asked to have them shaken, but that took a bit of asking...had to shake 'em down ;) (incidentally heard the bartender, letting us hear his extremely loud shaker in the bar area, after our second request... we laughed)! Wish I could have tried the coffee or dessert, but no time left for that...( I wanted so badly to ask Maria Andretti to see a dessert menu, just to see the horror on her face...) and no ROOM, either! Enjoyed a delicious dinner here last night. The prix fixe dinner is a great value. For my main course, I ordered the salmon with a Dijon almond crust and it was served with roasted potatoes and snap peas. The portions were substantial, perfectly seasoned and cooked, and served hot! Just OK... A bit pricey... Food - mediocre. Staff - hard workers, no complaints. The bar crowd was pretty old and very loud... Very distracting to eat with the noise from the bar. During a trip to Long Island my best friend and I stumbled across Villa Paul after finding that most of the local restaurants in the Hampton Bay area are closed on Monday. We drove around in our fancy dresses looking for an italian restaurant where we would fit in. The smell of marinara and garlic coming from the building helped us decide quickly that Villa Paul was the place to be. We arrived on the later side, around 8pm and the restaurant was winding down but the wait staff was still happy to serve us. While we found individual items on the menu to be on the pricey side, they offered a set menu for $25. This included a soup or salad, a main entree (a choice of one of 3) and a few different options for dessert. I started with the salad, which was traditional and simple. My main course was an eggplant dish with melted mozzarella, marinated tomatoes and spaghetti. The portion was large and the flavor was fantastic. It truly tasted hand made and the tomatoes were sweet and fresh. I finished with the most amazing banana chocolate chip bread pudding, most impressive for a girl who often grades a restaurant by the quality of their desserts. For the price we were very pleased with the meal and the relaxed but slightly upscale atmosphere was the perfect setting. If you're looking for dinner on Monday Night in Hampton Bays, Villa Paul is the place to be. read more

Yes! After being told we had to wait 2 hours at Cowfish, we made the decision to go and get some real food. Couldn't have been happier, the owners sat us right down and we had a big group. Everything we had was great but my chubby friend James ordered a duck entree for the table which was some of the best duck I have ever had, at least from the few bites I was able to steal. Great restaurant in the Hamptons not far from Riverhead to get Long Island Duck! I believe the place was built in 1804 and serving as a restaurant since 1965. The main dining room appears to be the old library and is beautiful. We were seated right by the fireplace. The duck was amazing, and everything here is great. read more

This is my third visit here. It never disappoints! I had the most tender veal marsala I've ever had, the most amazing bay scallops and outstanding chicken parmigiana this visit. This place is my aunts favorite restaurant, so she brings us here a lot. But after last night I have to put this review because I'm furious. Besides the waiter spilling our wine and taking forever to take our order ( those things sometimes can't be helped) this is what happened: We ordered two chicken Parms. He came over with the food and said, 'veal parms' and we looked at eachother and were like, no one ordered that, we ordered chicken. And he goes, 'oh yeah, chicken'. Easy enough mistake. So we start eating. I haven't eaten veal in 25 years, (on purpose!) so I have no idea, but eventually my mom says, I think this is veal. I'm practically done with mine At this point. Everyone around the table is trying to tell her otherwise. Long story short, we get the bill, and sure enough veal is listed!!!! HOW DARE THEY GIVE VEAL TO PEOPLE WHO ORDERED CHICKEN! And the nerve of the waiter to straight lie to our face!!!! And to top it off, to CHARGE US FOR THE VEAL!! I will never go here again. read more

I absolutely loved this restaurant. It has a bar restaurant that was packed for a Tuesday evening with an older crowd having fun. Their dinner room was amazing however! It look like a huge living room complete with an amazing fire place, high ceilings and visible ceiling beams. The dining area was decorated with all Christmas decorations and the tables were set around the lit fireplace. I sat nearest to the fireplace diagonally to the left so I was toasty but I never felt like it was too hot. The food: A-MAZE-ING!! You need to try their PASTA BOLOGNESE. TRY IT. You will not be disappointed. I ate the whole plate, because I couldn't stop! They also have homemade deserts (hallelujah) and some not so homemade. The homemade deserts included a gelato, a chocolate brownie cake, and banana bread pudding (i think). Very romantic, very good food, and the staff was very friendly. I have to vent my feelings here tonight: 8/30/16 I just came back home from the Villa Paul Restaurant in Hampton Bays Cheryl Pensa Jim Patterson. I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened before my 20's, and have always loved the food and have been eating there at least once a week for 40 years or so. I have given many gift certificates out to many people as I am an owner of a Real Estate Co too. I have also been in their kitchen since I joined the Rotary to try to help out in the Community, for a bit. Maybe 3 years ago my husband sent back the flounder since it was not cooked right and tasted like it was frozen. He always eats the flounder and always loved to get it there. This night it was not right. The owner was totally upset with him and would not understand that the dish that particular night was not cooked properly. The customer was not right here and we were insulted and for a bit decided not to go back for awhile. That was over 3 years ago. So tonight we were enjoying another dinner and I ordered the special meat lasagna, and of course my husband ordered the flounder. He always likes it well done - it was not and he was afraid to say it was not. My dish came and it really did not have any ricotta cheese in it so I ordered more immediately. Well my husband finished his meal before the waitress brought the ricotta over even after I asked for it a few times. She was taking orders and and finally brought it with some other people's salad. I then told her I did not want it any longer along with the lasagna. She asked if I wanted it packed up and I said she she take it back as it did not want it now. We got the check with the lasagna on it and were told that we always complain so they decided to leave it on the check and we were told we did not have to come back from Christin the manager. What does everyone think about this? I told her that I have always loved the food here and she told me I should have ordered the ricotta with the meal and not later as it takes too long to get. I told her I did not know the meat lasagna had so little ricotta. I guess I should have known the customer is never right there. She was screaming and reminding me about my husband sending back his food 3 years ago and that it was not frozen to her Father. I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
