I wanted to mix myself a couple Jack & Cokes but realized I should save the space for the food. Got a groupon for $39 dinner for two, awesome price. The cheese-filled bread melts in your mouth. This is my worst experience in a Brazilian steakhouse. Getting seated is the first battle. Nobody greets us for at least 10 min. We were confused whether we should go to the cashier desk at the back of the restaurant or just wait. Our reservation was not honored even when we were on time. we were asked to wait. Their excuse was too many people came at the same time. That's not funny!!!! Getting served in villas grill is another battle. I had an empty plate for 20 min while the servers passed by us 10 times at least. We were waiting for 40 minutes for chicken to be served. A server passed by us with the chicken and ignored us even when I waived my hand. By the time he got to our section the chicken is gone, then he came out with the pineapple to serve other tables. What a JOKE!!!!!!! The servers pays more attention to bigger table. I guess Big tables' tips are guaranteed and the servers think small tables don't tip. One server was very rude when we asked him a couple extra slices of pineapple. He sighed at my face. Are we not a paying customers????? Forget about asking extra slices of anything, the servers will fly away from your table in a dash and head to other tables. Food is good but service is sucks. When service is sucks food really does not matter anymore. I will not come back for sure. And by the way, they advertised that they serve 10 cuts of meats, check with them what they are before you are disappointed. Don't expect filet mignon to be in the list. They just don't have it. This was my second Brazilian steakhouse experience. While I was absolutely charmed by the first one ( Braza in Allen), I was very frustrated by Villas grill. Their meat serving was a total mess and they were serving in a very random fashion. We were waiting every 15 to 20 mins to get one thin slice. Servers were bringing small amount of meats every time and offering meat only to some selected tables that had a large group. We were very annoyed and frustrated. If you would like to get a soft drink along with some crappy salads for 25 bucks this might be a good place for you! For me it looked like a total rip off. read more

GREAT Brazilian food! Nice atmosphere, friendly service and GREAT price!

We went here for lunch, were seated promptly, and immediately received our drinks. In fact, my iced tea was filled so frequently I scarcely had time to set the glass down before it was topped off. Unfortunately, we were seated at the "No Meat For You" table. The carvers passed our table frequently, often pointedly skipping us while serving the tables on either side. When they did deign to offer us meat, they would carve off the thinnest sliver possible before scurrying off to deliver great, steaming slabs of delicious protein to other diners. We were at lunch for about an hour, during which time my tea was topped off at least a dozen times , but the carvers visited us less than half that many times. Even when we specifically asked one of the waitresses once, twice, even three times, if she could send the picanha our way, no carvers came to our table. At one point, there were so many carvers offering food to the table next to ours that there was one standing idle, the delicious skewer of meat scant inches from my empty plate. Did I receive any of this tasty meat? I did not. The carver looked at me, then walked away to serve the table next to ours. Dining here appears to be a gamble. If you sit near the kitchen, or on the far left side of the restaurant, you may be offered a sumptuous meal, with meat overflowing your plate as the carvers bring you an unending parade of delectable flavors. If you sit anywhere else, you and your dining companion will spend $30 for glass after glass of tea, while your belly rumbles and you wonder when you will ever be served. And, unless you're at one of the lucky tables, the meat you do receive won't be the good stuff - sausage and chicken for you, my friend, maybe top sirloin if you're very lucky. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. Save your money and spend a little more to go to one of the better churrascarias. Yes, you'll spend more, but you will be fed well in much more pleasant and inviting surroundings. I was really hoping Villa's Open Fire Gril would be a great place for my family to enjoy weekend meals together, but given our shabby treatment on our first visit, we will not be returning. read more

I've never been to a churrascaria style restaurant but this place was excellent, without having to dread the bill. My co-workers and I heard about this place so we decided to go there for lunch. So we arrive and they have the table for 14 ready for us, the employees were all so nice. The place is small but homey, right away our drink order was taken. Once everyone from our group arrived we helped ourselves to the salad and sides bar. The salad bar does not have much to choose from, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and dressings. The sides bar has rice, beans, meat stew, steak fries and okra. So this does not sound like much, but as you are digging into the salad the passador (meat server) comes around the table with a skewer on one hand and the knife on the other. Some of the meat choices for lunch are sausage, chicken leg, bacon wrapped chicken, garlic beef, beef picanha and at the end pineapple. My favorite was the garlic beef but they were all very good, the meat was very tender and very tasty. The price is also great, for lunch during the week it's $9.90, dinner $16.95 (they have lamb in the dinner and more meat choices), weekend lunch is $12.95. Again the employees are very attentive, they are constantly refilling your drink, the passador wants to make sure you get exactly what you want. So if the meat is not cooked enough or if it's too well done he will bring the perfect one for you. This is a BYOB, I definitely will come back and this time I'm bringing friends along. read more

I have never wrote an online review for a restaurant, but having just ate at Villa's, I felt the need to (plus I feel all these "excellent" reviews might be being padded a little by the staff.) First let's talk about the food. I found it very mediocre at best. The salad bar, which is one of my favorite things about going to a Brazilian steakhouse, was quite lacking. Very few options. What was there didn't seem very fresh. There were green olives, some banana peppers, pickled peppers, a few other pickled items, cold pasta, some potatoes salad, romaine lettuce, spinach lettuce, and a couple other items I can't recall. The hot bar items included mashed potatoes that tasted instant, steamed peppers/carrots, rice, beans, fried yucca, and some empanada looking things that tasted very dry with chicken inside. During the hour I was at the restaurant no items were ever replenished on the hot or cold salad bar. Now on to the meats. I counted around a 6-7 variety of meats. Sausage, chicken leg, bacon wrapped chicken, lamb, and a few options of steaks. Most of this I found on par with what you would get at Golden Corral. The chicken leg was very dry, a little too crispy, and definitely cooked too long. Bacon wrapped chicken was okay, not great, just okay. The cuts of beef all seemed a little too chewy, with several quite bland. I passed on the lamb, but my eating companion tried it and felt it was on par with everything else. The fried bananas is simply a mushy banana in a crispy cinnamon shell. The pineapple couldn't really taste any cinnamon on it, and it was cold. Bland is the best description of their food. Let's talk about the service. In no way was it worth the 18% gratuity given. We were offered two tables that were both dirty, and neither setup to eat at. Our drinks came to us halfway through the meal only after we asked one of the men bringing around the meats for them. After we were done eating we sat there for quite a bit of time wondering if anyone was ever going to ask if we wanted dessert, or even our check. We had already informed the waitress when we sat down this was our first time there, so you would think she would make sure to check back on us towards the end of the meal. By the time we were finally asked the whole thing just felt awkward. What I thought was going to be a fun night out ended up being a less than enjoyable experience. Went for the first time and was not impressed at all during lunch and the service was not the best. Not impressed with the tiny salad bar being elbowed by other people.Several veggies were expired, red and yellow peppers. The meat was not at all what I expected, I tried one bite of steak and it was raw and full of fat for my taste, you definately get for what you pay "Best Cheap Eats In Dallas". I also requested piccanha meat and it was NEVER brought to me. The chimi churri sauce had no taste to it. We ordered pan de yucca when we first sat down and was brought to us as we were paying our check.I kindly requested to be charged for only the salad bar since I had one piece of meat which was not cooked to my likeings and manager came to my table to argue that the meat was cooked. About a week ago I made a reservation for my boyfriends birthday. I had eaten at villas once before and remembered the amazing food! I asked the hostess over the phone to put on the football game for us and that we could sit somewhere and watch it. Upon arrival we weren't even greeted by anyone for about ten minutes. Finally 15-20 minutes later taken to a table in the corner of the room near the front window... no where near the screen and blocked in by a noisy table with 3 babies. I asked the hostess for something different and instead of making it happen, had us wait an extra 35 minutes before finally getting us a proper table. Then a server asked me if he could open my bottle of wine and SPLIT THE CORK. Luckily we got the cork out but I was absolutely floored at the end of the meal when there was a 5.00 'corking fee'. The food was so fabulous but for a seven o'clock reservation not getting food until 8 pm, I do NOT recommend villas on a weekend. They do not have enough staff and do not take care of their customers. I paid for our meal in full and never heard an apology. Bad bad bad service. read more

They kept our water glasses full and the meat kept arriving every 5 minutes. This recommendation is an overall recommendation, however the attitude and efficiency of the service as well as the salad bar get a 2 star rating, whereas the taste and quality of the meats (there were 6-7 of them) would merit 4 stars. For the cost ($27 per person), this is overall a better deal than the larger chains (e.g., Fogo de Chao) if you don't desire a nice atmosphere and poor service. It is a BYOB. read more

Very disappointed, just like the other guy, I guess I was sitting at the "no meat for you" table, make sure you make a reservation seating is VERY limited, no much room at all. None of the good meat gets to you or you just get the left overs when you sit further from the kitchen, even when you ask for a certain meat for your table, they end up passing it all out before it gets to you and you wait another 20mins for tiny pieces of meat, pineapples good of course but that took about 40mins to get because they kept handing it all to one table. Forgot it was BYOB, spent like 20 bucks on tea and soda waiting for food, not much of a variety of meats for lunch like the other places, only meats that made it to my table really were, sausage and the cheese pork. Also the salad bar didn't have much, desert wasnt all that good. Service was slow, only had 2 servers and id say one cook because the meats were coming out very slow, me and my friends got full off of salad, and the rice and beans. Only reason I went is because it was close by and I didnt feel like driving out to Tx de Brazil, or Rafain's, but if I would of none the experience was going to be like this, I wouldnt of mind driving a little further and spending the extra money, for better service and more variety of meats, desert, and salad bar, especially with Rafain's. Overall my experience was not so great, they need a bigger place and bigger staff. Only reason Im not giving it 1star is because the meats were actually good once you got it. I made the mistake of reading the good recent reviews instead of the bad ones. Then, I compounded that mistake by making a reservation for Valentine's Day / My Anniversary. The website reservation form has misspellings and is missing the box for answering how many people are in the party on my browser. At the end it asks for email and/or phone (I gave both) for them to be able to contact me for confirmation. I never heard from them. Therefore, I spent 4 days calling during their normal business hours trying to confirm my reservation. Sometimes the answering machine picked up - I left messages. Most of the time it just rang with no answer. Eventually someone answered. He was nice, engaging and very helpful. I was surprised he treated me a bit rudely when he looked up and confirmed my reservation and time, but it was a "Duh, of course you have a reservation at that time." kind of rude so I didn't worry. The night of was chaos (of course) I prepped for double the drive time and it still wasn't enough. Therefore, when we were caught behind yet another car accident, I called and let them know we were running late. I spoke to the same gentleman and he was very understanding and told me not to worry. He did not need to move my reservation, not to rush myself into my own car accident, etc. Considerably more understanding than I expected. We were relieved. We arrived 10 minutes after the reservation time. It took about 5 minutes to find the person (and get past the crowd) with the reservation book. Because it was so cramped, I stayed at the front near the entrance. My husband dealt with someone that was rude and dismissive. He was informed that they had given our reservation away and we could wait "like all the other walk ins" for 1-2 hours for a table. Extremely upset, my husband returned to tell me the news. As what little I was able to see of the dining area looked like a back alley burger shop, I decided to call other Brazilian Grills and see if we could salvage the evening. The first place I called was part of a Denton chain we had visited before. They took my reservation for 1hr later. We arrived in Frisco 1/2hr later and were seated promptly. It had 16 meat choices, 2 sides to the salad bar, a hot bar with 6 choices, and 2 main waiters for our table as well as the gauchos. The hostess and managers also kept track of the tables and helped direct the waiters to where they were needed. Best of all, it was only $3 more per person than Villas, who never has to worry about us darkening their doorstep again. Tried to use it on 2/10/15 they called Alex, the owner, he said that it was not good. I called Alex back and told him the gift card said it does not expire and was purchased on restaurant.com. He said that just means that the amount I paid does not expire. Alex said that it makes no difference where or when I bought the gift card that it was not good and he would not accept it. BUYER BEWARE! I drove by the place three times before I spotted it. Parking was fine for a Tuesday night. There was no one to greet us at the door. Waited five minutes before an employee spoke to us. Waited another three minutes before our "reserved" table was ready. Salad bar was meager and sad. Hot sides were similarly limited, although the black beans and rice and the fried banana were both tasty. No one offered the advertised bread. Table service was non-existant. I counted at least 14 times when a server walked past our table with a spit of meat and didn't stop, and didn't come back. Of the advertised items, we were only offered four. The meats were highly seasoned, tender, and tasty. Had to ask for the sausages. Had to physically stop someone to get refills on beverages. We were there on a TravelZoo coupon, as was most everyone else there that night. I saw a stack of 20-30 coupons. I KNEW it wasn't full of people from the local area. We asked an employee about our free desserts. There was a card on the table with pictures of six desserts, but no prices. I chose the flan, which was fine, and my guest chose the papaya creme, which was delicious. But the coupon only covered desserts up to $4.95, and the papaya creme was $5.95. So...did they charge me an extra dollar? NO...they charged me an extra $5.95! The 19% mandatory tip was completely unearned. BUYER BEWARE...it may look like a deal, but you may have a dreadful experience like we had. They will not have an opportunity to fool me again! read more
