    Omelet at the Waffle House
    Bruce K.

Very quiet this morning for a Monday, there was no shouting, no drama, and no waffle or hash browns for me as I'm doing a keto (no carb) diet. Instead, I ordered from the "small" menu and chose the fiesta omelet which includes all jalapenos and cheese and ham and onions and peppers and tomato. Absolutely delicious and better with a bit of the jarred salsa poured over the top. Easy to eat, almost completely "free" on my diet and delicious. Lots and lots of coffee this morning. Every time my cup got down to half, my waitress was back to top it off. Excellent service. I had a good meal this morning. Hooray for the Waffle House. [Review 10858 overall, 629 of 2019.]

Quick and easy. Pretty decent Waffle House in the area. The service is fast and does not deviate too much from the Waffle House standards. Although some may say that "the Waffle House "standards" are subjective. This is not a place for elegant dining; it's a place to get your greasy and sugary food fix at a decent price. I tend to go to the Waffle House after a night of boozing or when I am craving "breakfast for dinner". The guys working behind the bar seemed to be having a good time (perhaps they were in a happy holiday mood) and the restaurant definitely had a "service with a smile" type of vibe. I will have to say this Waffle House probably is one of my favorites in the Tidewater area.

    Paper signs on door

The worker said he was sick and that's why we can't dine in and he's a cook, (black male, short cut)... I'm black too & the female coworker informed me that the ceiling is leaking. DO NOT EAT HERE

    Busy Saturday night.

I went here for an after hours breakfast food break. It was fairly crowded for a Saturday Night and has a typical diner feel to it. I did not feel like driving very far and was in the area so this was the lucky winner. "The Good" - A decent selection of fast food. I have only had breakfast food here and settled in on the Bacon Egg and Cheese on Texas Toast. - Its not a fancy restaurant and they do not try to be. Just some fast food and they are open late. - The chefs have some skills and move a ton of food on a few burners and a small flattop. - Real Cherry Coke. The kind where they put the cherry mix in before the coke - Outstanding! They have other flavors as well, but since I rarely drink soda or at least try to match with the water intake this is some good stuff. - Juke Box. Although I have rarely seen one being used at a Waffle House, they have one and it is on autoplay every once in a while so you get some background music. "The Meh" - The packet of Mayo I get with my Bacon Egg and Cheese. I am Anti-Mayo as it is... but even if I was all about it, there would be absolutely none on the Bacon Egg and Cheese. Plus, God only knows how many people do the same thing I do, and take it off the plate and leave it on the table to be recycled again and again. - I like it for what it is, I don't love the chain and know that there is better, but it is consistent and I know what I am getting. "The Bad" - The fact they charge you an extra take out fee, I think it is a $1.25. I know times are tough, but does the plastic carrier really cost that much that you would pass those costs on to me. Plus, Isn't beneficial that the people are getting orders to go and shouldn't you support that by leaving the limited seating that you have open for even more customers??

It's a Waffle House, so not expecting anything fancy. Food was good and hot. Don was a good server and made sure I was taken care of.

We decided to stay close to home and headed over to The Egg Bistro, conveniently located just across the street from us. It's actually within walking distance, but not today--not in this oppressive heat! We love coming here because the food is consistently excellent, the staff is always friendly, and every visit is a great experience. My wife ordered the Chicken Salad Wrap with a side of onion rings, and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The onion rings arrived piping hot with just the right amount of seasoning, perfectly crisp and absolutely delicious. The Chicken Salad Wrap was fresh, flavorful, and every bit as satisfying. I ordered my favorite sandwich on the menu: a BLT with scrambled egg and Pepper Jack cheese on sourdough bread. It comes loaded with a generous portion of perfectly crispy bacon, which is always a treat. The lettuce and tomato were garden fresh, and every ingredient came together beautifully. I enjoyed every single bite of this incredible sandwich. If you're looking for a great place to enjoy breakfast or lunch, be sure to check out one of the several Egg Bistro locations in the area. You'll be glad you did, and you'll also be supporting one of our outstanding local restaurants.

Needless to say the food was so good, pics proved to have zero chance. Sooo after a rough week, a Saturday late morning breakfast was calling for a much needed downtime to sit and enjoy... and well here we go: Some say happiness in a bottle, I say Happiness in a glass! Their iced praline mocha is soooo good! The right balance of mocha and coffee, not overly sweet but enough to give you a pick me up while enjoying their amazing food! Next time must try their lavender latte or pistachio... but gotta get it before 5/31 as it's available for a limited time! Definitely recommend the brekki bowl with cheese grits and fried chicken! You will not be disappointed. Cheese grits like "buhhhttah" without the oily and maybe the calories?! But honestly, so flavorful and creamy without the guilty feeling for having something that tastes so good. The veggies are fresh and perfectly cooked to give you great texture contrast. And let me tell you about their fried chicken!! Chefs kiss! Moist, flavorful lightly breaded chicken fried to perfection that had a slight kick for this girl. In full disclosure black pepper is spicy for me so take that with a grain of salt. And for those of you like me that believe there is never too much salt and add salt to your salt but need to cut that bad habit... this whole dish is the perfect amount of salt. I literally never had to add just a little more. The goat cheese crumbles gave each bite the little extra tah-dah pop that might have been otherwise gotten had you like me added a few more shakes of salt to the dish. Seriously though, if you are watching to slowly cut back on having to add salt to your food, this dish is for you! The service was great and everyone was friendly and hustling! This place is the best for a quick sit down or a group brunch. I saw a table of like 10 menly bros enjoying a huge selection of food, drinks, and catching up. Really awesome to see that as the next few tables were a mix of families with and without kids, in laws, aunts and uncles just coming together for amazing food, great and accurate service, and overall fantastic experience ina random Saturday morning!

The waitress who helped us was incredibly nice and took the time to answer all of my questions. Unfortunately, my excitement was cut short when I went to order the #6 breakfast special and found out the fried rice was pre-made with ham, and there was no option to get it without meat. Since the fried rice was out, I pivoted and ordered the #1 Special: 2 eggs (requested soft scrambled with cheese) 2 pieces of bacon (asked to hold the bacon) White toast Home fries Side order: Egg rolls to go The execution of breakfast was pretty disappointing. The eggs weren't soft scrambled, the cheese on top wasn't melted, and the home fries were very hard. To top it off, the whole plate came out at room temperature. I didn't make a fuss or send it back because it's a small, family-owned restaurant and they clearly have a lot of loyal regulars who love them. Overall Verdict: Breakfast Food: 5/10 Egg Rolls: 7/10 The service alone makes it worth giving them another shot. While breakfast wasn't a hit for me, I would definitely return to give their lunch menu a try.

First of all can I just say WOW!…read more We were excited at the first because we thought the Neat Bird from Chesapeake had a new location in Norfolk Colley Avenue but there chicken sandwich was even delicious here too with a different owner! We met the owner, he is a cool band guy with a mustache name Dand. The drinks he made for us were so good and so was the way he talked with his staff and the way they worked together. My parner and I had seen that they pride themselfes on Scottish eggs, which we were lucky to try and it was also very delicious! We like that they have the vibe and also a board with many events of the community on the wall to check out while you sip on a delicious expresso martini. Good job to the Bird! now dont go opening another restaurant in Chesapeake or we will all be very confused!

You order at the register, and the staff brings the food out to your table. Everyone was attentive, and we had no issues with the service. We ordered the waffle plate, which came topped with fruit alongside eggs and their house sausage. We also tried the Huevos Rancheros, the Sausage Egg & Cheese sandwich, and a build-your-own omelette. For drinks, we ordered the brown sugar cold brew, dulce de leche cold brew, drip coffee, and an espresso martini. The waffle was huge, and the sides were great. My only complaint was that it could have used more fruit, as there were only a few small pieces. The Huevos Rancheros were delicious and came with a generous serving of avocado. The only thing that caught us off guard was the lack of salsa, since in traditional Huevos Rancheros the salsa is a key component. Even so, the dish was still flavorful and filling. The omelette was excellent, and the breakfast sandwich was equally delicious. I was especially impressed by the house-made jam, house-made hot sauce, and the perfectly seasoned home fries. As for the drinks, the brown sugar cold brew was excellent, but the dulce de leche version was far too sweet for my taste. From what I understood, they use two flavored syrups to make it, and I think using smaller portions of each would create a better balance. We ended up adding oat milk and some drip coffee to tone it down. The drip coffee itself was solid and came with free refills. The espresso martini really tied brunch together for me -- strong, well-made, and delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed both the food and the experience, and we'll definitely be back.
