I know inflation has everyone changing but Waffle House, or at least the location on 4601 Old Gentilly Rd. in New Orleans, has taken it to another level. The price has increased, as expected, but I expected to get a waffle and not a pancake. The waffles (3) were so thin, they couldn't hold butter or syrup in the divots. This is usually my last choice because there is always an issue with this particular location. I will only return after Armageddon has wiped out all other breakfast locations. No, seriously. First visit, I called in my orderS with no problem. I arrived to see a leaning Tower of Trays sweating and dripping of hot food. I'm waiting for it to be bagged but received "Naaah, we don't have anymore bags". 0___o So, I made two trips to my front passenger seat with my orderS. I dont do this to other servers after working so many years in the hospitality industry but to hear the server talking down to you? Are you serious? The employees chatted about personal affairs for all to hear as if they were at home. A customer fled before paying his tab and the waitress started yelling about how she wasn't going to pay for the meal. Pancake syrup covered some of the menu that was placed on our table. The waffles were sponge like and not very tasteful. I regretted not checking the rating of this place before going in. This was the first time I've been to a "Waffle House" so I don't know if these are typical conditions for their customers. But I would avoid this place at all costs. I saw what others meant when they said this place is racist. The employees essentially don't give you the attention you see other people sitting near you are getting. I want a refill too! Steve and I stopped here on a Sunday night around 11:00 pm. We left NOLA right after the Bacchus parade and we were heading to Gulfport. Not much open at that time, so we decided to stop for a quick bite. Service was very pleasant. That was the best part of our experience. They are rude, slow, and if you ask them for anything special they will get your order wrong. Shift change just happened and I was hungry. Ms. Carrol was my cook and server and the food was GREAT. I ordered the All Star Platter and had a sweet tea. The tea was so fresh, it melted the ice. The eggs were soft and the bacon, hashbrowns, and waffle were all cooked to my specifications, slightly crispy. I really can't complain much about this visit. The 504 Waffle House on Reed Blvd., New Orleans, deserves a compliment! I don't particularly like Waffle House because they are usually unclean and take forever to bring your order. The exception is this Waffle House. First and foremost, the energy and the team work is awesome! The place is clean, the condiment bottles are clean; the team had 3 managers working and actually on the food line. The team greets guest as the walk in with enthusiasm! The worst restaurant experience I ever had. I came here the night before Halloween. If I could rate this Waffle House zero stars I would. I came here with some friends, I order the cheesesteak melt. My first complaint was how long it took for the food to come out, it took about 30 minutes. Once the food comes out, my sandwich is burnt so I return it, not wanting another one because of how long it took for the first sandwich to come out. That's not even the worst part. I sat down at a table with 2 of my coworkers about 5 minutes after they I arrived. The waitress didn't acknowledge me for about 25 mins. I ordered the All American special which came with waffles, eggs, grits, and bacon. Portions were generous and it satisfied my waffle cravings. As expected, service was mediocre. Coming from San Antonio and having a horrible first experience in New Orleans we were delighted to have the best service we've had in a long time. when we stopped at the Waffle House on Read Blvd I walked outside to make a phone call but it took longer than expected and when I asked for it to be heated up they made me a completely new plate.
