You always know what Waffle House is synonymous for,right. I thought I did until I saw the cook on his car smoking a cigarette and then coming back in without washing his hands-Strike 1. That was an immediate way to get me out of your establishment. Wait staff lackluster and not eager to greet you..mind you the WH concept has always been small shoebox so you can't miss me walking in...That was strike 2. Looking around for a clean table at 4a.m. on a Wednesday morning was a bit daunting hmm Strike 3... Yes as a point of contention,what are you all doing at 4a.m. are you outside--kept calling to place a to go order but no answer. This led me to run by the restaurant on my way into the hospital. The last time I was here I ordered a T-Bone Meal,I got a sliver of meat,no bone. What happened,did I miss something or did this location run out of T-Bone. Todays my day off and I choose to come to good old Waffle House. But today experience was awful. Got my egg, sausage and hashbrowns quick but waffle 20 minutes later. I'm in the management buisness and dam this is poor service. I'll continue to come to Waffle House in future but not to be waited like this time. Wish I could leave LESS than one star! Went in to eat today (Jan. 17) all the tables were very dirty, the guy said, "you all can have a seat" I looked around and said "um, if we can find a clean table" then a worker got up from a corner booth and said, "you can have this one" It was not even all that clean, since there were crumbs all over it, but at least it did not look as bad as the others. So we did take that table. It was just around 3:00 and there were two guys working, then someone came in and they just started chatting about how her boyfriend just went to jail, this went on for at lest thirty minutes. Meanwhile, the tables remained dirty, and they did clear the plates from a couple more during that time, but never once wiped them down. There was sticky hand prints, greasy spots, drink rings and crumbs on all of them! I then had to go to the restroom, only to be greeted in the ladies room by some nasty vomit that was just left there in the floor in a puddle. It was really nasty. So I dedided to wait until I got home. I am not one to be petty since having been a waitress years ago, I realize that at times, things can be busy, but the entire fourty five minutes we were there, they had a total of two customers, and one of them had a take out order. When we left, the two workers were just hanging out around the back grill chatting. The food was ok I guess, the server was nice enough, but the place was a pigsty. So filty in fact that we came home hoping we will not get sick in the coming days. Thank goodness we ordered everything well done! Most negative ratings on here really surprise me. I have had nothing but old school, typical waffle house-esque fair here in the past few years I've been going here. On my last visit, my wife and I saw some seriously racist folks who were being both aggressive and hateful towards a hard working, African American waiter/short order cook. I figured they were just being jerks, but then I heard racist comments spewing out of their mouths like venom. It's not hard to hear others in a restaurant as tiny as WH. Anyways, the food here is delicious, dirt cheap, and there's no smoking, which is worth the drive to the East side of Plano. (the Addison/FB one is nasty since folks can smoke their death sticks a few booths over, yuck!) I've never experienced hygienic issues here, but the greasiness is just Waffle House. HORRENDOUS, absolutely horrendous. I have been to this waffle house a multitude of times and had a fabulous experience. But the last time I went it was astonishingly bad. The service, horrible. I am very disappointed with how unprofessional the employees are at this location. The front end worker skipped us to be seated. He began to seat people who arrived after us without calling their name. When asked he claimed that they were there before us. I noticed on his sheet that our name had been crossed off, at which time he changed his story to say he called our name and no one answered. Instead of rectifying the situation and seating us. He sat another family and told us we would have to move to the end of the list. I went to waffle house a few months ago and decided to write a review about my experience after my second visit. Despite all the gripes about cleanliness and bad service, this place has a certain charm i cannot ignore. I cam at about 5 o clock in the afternoon on a weekday and my waitress was a younger girl with a accent, latinai assume because she was speaking spanish with the cook. despite my waitress telling me its the slow time of the day, the place was still dirty. I find that rather unacceptable in all honesty and the main reason why i give the place 3 stars but whatever. i was hungry for some waffles. Service was actually good, my waitress was friendly and bubbly and fairly attentive and seemed genuinely kind, like she was interested in what i do and what i had to say. I guess it is a slow time and the staff gets bored and need company, but despite all the free time they had to chat it up i had to ask for refills and my check. Service was slow despite me being the only customer. The food was nothing to write home about. it was delicious don't get me wrong, but it was just average, eggs and bacon can be very very boring. I find it neat that you can see the cooks working, makes everything feel more intimate. I didn't get the cooks name. He was a younger guy who drank tea leaves and rambled on about techno. The cook seemed passionate about food and knew what he was doing, even walking to my table with his pan and asking me if my eggs were cooked well enough for my liking. again it's the same theme of intimacy, be prepared to be treated like family! Speaking of intimacy the waitress and cook seemed more interested in each other then in me. Bickering and fighting i assumed they were married because that's how they acted,. I guess they were playing because of all the giggling and flirty touching which is sweet and nice but keep your personal business outside of your professional business! My second visit this past saturday was alot better. I guess when you have more staff and more volume you can focus more on work and less on socializing. My food came out fast and prompt, and i was in and out before i knew it. Quality was about the same but everything was faster paced. This sounds like a bad thing but when i just want to eat and go it works out better. I like the intimacy and friendliness of my first visit, but that's not what i came for. i came for food and the weekend shift delivered. Whenever I see a Waffle House fond memories of my NC college days and hangover cures and late night shenanigans fill my head. Not doing too much late night partying these days, but this particular Waffle House fits the bill when wanting a good breakfast at a cheap price. Where else are 2 eggs, bacon and toast $3.90?! Wanted to call in an order for pick up no one answered the phone so coworker went there and after an hour long wait he finally got the food and returned back to the shop - every single one of our orders was incorrect - we understood that they were busy so we did not complain we just returned to get the missing items from the order . More miss than hit. It's a Waffle House so expectations should remain low. I don't frequent here often but it's mediocre at best. I expect sticky tables and they don't usually disappoint to provide. However the last visit, they had about 10 customers and 3 staff running the place. Only one empty table was bussed. But the table was actually cleaner than usual. If anyone reads this, the mirror in back is absolutely disgustingly filthy. We were acknowledged when we entered but that was about the only moment efficient. They are SLOW. When the waitress brought silverware, she actually coughed across our table. Her hands were full with cutlery so she didn't cover her mouth at all. She said excuse me but she didn't turn her head away or anything. It was really hard to eat with that silverware. She was wearing gloves but she was eating food with her fingers while she was cooking. She was friendly enough but she lost me at the cough. This place has terrible service. After we were seated we waited a while to even get a drink order. Got our coffee and waited about 10 minutes before our waiter came back to take our order. We then waited 30 minutes from the time we put our order in to finally I called our waiter over (who was washing dishes) and said what's up with our food? Cleanest and tastiest Waffle House EVER! I swear the only reason to diss this place is keep the crowds down. The manager on duty when I visited was Nelson, and our adorably sweet waitress was Chelsea. They run a tight ship, but with a super friendly and welcoming attitude. MOST IMPORTANTLY, my order of Country Ham was soooo freaking delectable, that I had to order a second one. What I would do for one of these here in The Bay Area!!! Great late night spot to enjoy some tasty greasy food when the bar crowds let out. In my opinion waffle house is almost a better place to people watch than Walmart. The all star breakfast is enough for 2 people. I always order sausage egg and cheese biscuits. I am not sure if it is the alcohol or just my late night hunger but they are to die for. I have been to this location many times and normally I am happy with the service as well, as the food. The last two times they have a waitress that fusses and complains wiith her co-workers! Who wants to hear that? I came during a shift change. At the end of my meal I ordered a to go box. Another waitress got my 'to go' meal prepared. When. I went to pay, she insistex that I swipe my card twice - once for each meal! This woman was off duty amd waited for a tip after she made my experience miserable. I waited awhile before. I don't do very many Yelp reviews but this place warranted mentioning. It was filthy and the service was horrible. Granted, when I came in they only had one waitress. Another one came on duty about 10 minutes after I got there. She was nice enough and immediately spotted me sitting there unattended. She waited on me and was very cordial. However she did get the order wrong. I ordered the eggs with cheese dish - not sure what it's called but the pic is on their menu. Didn't get the raisin toast. I can live with that. The problem was the place was just filthy! The condiment baskets obviously hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. There was spilled gump all over the bottom and they had been dirty and rusty so long that rust spots were on the table. The napkin holder had syrup spilled on it so several of the napkins were stuck to the metal holder. I was sitting where I had a clear shot of the refrigerator and I promise I would have to wear gloves before I'd tough that thing. The pics don't do justice to the filth. There were spill stains all over it that had obviously been there a long time. The stain trails led down to the refrigerator vent, which was caked with dirt and grime. We came in on a Sunday about 1:30, a table had just opened up and the manager was just finishing wiping it off from the last customers, he greeted us and pointed to the table in front of him. We sat and waited for a menu or waiter. Roughly 10 minutes later, we were greeted by a waiter with napkins and silverware, he asked if we needed menus. We had already been sitting long enough, so we both ordered off the top of our heads without menus. 15 minutes later, we start discussing what time it is and how long it had been, then he comes up to us with a Sprite and water and says "I'll be right back with your lemon." 5 minutes later he comes back with a small bowl of 2 lemons, which included a delicious chocolate chip and a tomato seed. We decided to leave at this point, but honestly, I don't even think he entered our order for food. Horrible! Went to this place after church for breakfast. Standing around close to 8 minutes because the waitress was "busy" conversing with regular patrons y not cleaning tables. The area manager Patrick is a coward. My boyfriend who was acused of stealing was told by the DISTRICT MANAGER Patrick that he was on leave until the investigation was over. He did not keep him updated on the situation, and instead told the manager of this location Carlos he was fired the day of the incadent. As weeks went by of my boyfriend TRYING to contact Patrick to get his name cleared he finally gave up. Patrick didn't even have the nerve to tell him he was fired; he just stopped talking to him. Also the person that really stole the money Stormy still works there and was not on leave for the situation, and she was work with him that early morning. In fact she was there almost 4 hours BY HERSELF and wasn't even a suspect. Only my boyfriend because he was new there. In my year of being that a assistant manager even I know that if there is a investigation involving theft you have everyone on that shift suspended not just one. The only proof they had was his name was on the cash register around the time the money was stole, and they didn't even check the cameras. I do know that thye have a camera pointed right at the cash register, so either their camreas are not on or that just don't know how to look. I also reported this into the corperation today, so not only will THEY get to the bottem of this, but I hope they terminate Patrick for not doing his job. As a district manager you should have the indecency to tell someone they are fired not string them along for weeks without pay, and then never talk to them again. The reason people are stealing for this location is because they know they will automaticlly blame the new guy which is completely unprofessinol witout soild proof. Not only did they fire the wrong but they kept the one that is actually stealing, and has worked there for years. No telling how much money she has really stolen.
