    Waffle House, Slidell

On the road and heading home after a week of carbs, here's the last big meal with carbs before getting back to my keto diet. Not very busy this morning at 8:40, I went right to the "All Star" which is a major quantity of food - city ham (I find the country ham too salty), waffle, two eggs (over medium), hash browns and toast. With this much going on, I skipped adding my usual cheese to the hash browns. The food was quick and hot, served all together. It's great when they are able to time the waffle with the eggs. Friendly service and the only ding is that I did have to ask for more coffee. This Waffle House is located next to a discount motel - there was a constant parade of folks walking across for take out breakfast. [Review 14229 overall, 1552 of 2020, number 45 in Louisiana.]

Food wasnt all that great. Server seemed like she was new. Very quiet but really polite. The cooking station wasnt all that clean but we were on the road and hungry. They need to season their food. Put some salt and pepper on the steak. The cook literally slapped it on the grill and served it to me bland as hell! I was like my goodness how are you in Louisiana serving this unseasoned mess?! Even the damn eggs didnt have any salt! Oh and they forgot to put the cheese on my eggs. Thats all i got to say!

I mean it's the Waffle House, it's nothing fantastic. What is though is the customer service we received from Jonathan. He was so welcoming and just such a great experience to have someone who loves being there helping his customers. I'd come back just to say hello Jonathan whenever I have the chance to go back.

Great Waffle House. Staff seemed happy to work together and everything came out on time and correctly. My only disappointment is I didn't see any guests make a scene which is kinda expected at a Waffle House. Then I realized the top of my right sandal detached from the sole of the shoe and I had to get up and pay then awkwardly walk out like a culturally appropriated hobo. Hope someone enjoyed that and spent some time wondering what was up with my shoe.

I enjoy Waffle House just for being Waffle House. I like the simplicity of the food they offer and the consistency. If I want waffles and eggs and hashbrowns, I know I will get good waffles, eggs, and hashbrowns. Our waitress was very nice and the food was good. However, this place was busy when we got there. We waited maybe 20 min to get a seat and waited another 20 to pay our bill. It wasn't on the waitstaff, they were just swamped with all the diners. It goes to show how Waffle House is a staple down here.

The waffle was extremely thin and soggy. There are remnants of the waffle iron on my waffle. This is not edible at all whatsoever. I am disgusted just looking at it.

This was my first waffle hours experience and I have to say I was pleased with what I got. Our server was very friendly and made great recommendations. Waffles, eggs (scrambled) and hash browns (with cheese, onions and jalapeño) were Fresh and delicious. Can't imagine I'll get the same experience at any other location but this one was pretty good.

This was my second time at a Waffle House. The staff were so pleasant and kind. They gave great recommendations on what to have when we asked and made sure our meals was great. My waffle was amazing and everything was cooking very well. I would absolutely come back... had such a wonderful experience!

My waffle was served so cold butter wouldn't melt

I've only ever had their breakfast here, but they do SUCH a great job, I'll have to come back for their lunches too It's a casual eatery that always seems to be fairly popular. Everything is very reasonably priced, so yummy, and their portions are generous. You'll go home full without completely emptying your wallet I highly recommend their "Poor Man's Benedict" ($10). It's SO good! It comes with their freshly baked biscuit topped with fried chicken and a poached egg, smothered in their homemade sausage gravy. The biscuit is soft, the eggs are perfect, their fried chicken is flavorful and well-seasoned, and the gravy is savory and just makes it feel like comfort food. You really can't miss out on their fried chicken. I know what you're thinking, fried chicken first thing in the morning? Trust me though, it's DELISH and you won't regret it! If you're really hungry, I suggest the "Chicken Fried Platter" ($13). It's very similar to the Benedict, but it comes with an extra side. We tried the hashbrowns and they were yum. Crispy surface and soft on the inside. Just the way I like 'em!

MAY 2026 Anniversary Vacation Part 4A: NOLA Southern Grill…read morein Slidell, LA. We were in Oyster Heaven last night at NOLA Southern Grill. It's a Hidden Gem nestled in Slidell, LA. We like to sit at the bar in restaurants and chat with people. Last night, we enjoyed chatting with the bartender Carol and her friend who is another local. I started off with a killer dirty martini! Carol knows how to make a good one! She, the cooks and entire staff are so appreciated! They were a lot of fun. Carol was so nice, very attentive and saw to every need of her customers. They offer Happy Hour 3-6:00 which included OYSTERS, raw or chargrilled! So I had both...raw and chargrilled. Terry stuck with the grilled. The raw oysters were amazing! Plumper, meatier, creamy and mild and less briny than East Coast NC and VA oysters. These are the kind of oysters you also want to fry! They were so perfect and so delicious! Next came out the Chargrilled Oysters...drenched and grilled with a melted Parmesan, Garlic, Herb Butter Sauce and served with slices of warm, garlic French bread to sop up the hot butter sauce that pooled at the bottom of the tray. Oh my oh my oh my! Shut the front door OUTSTANDING! Terry and I relished every single bite, I may have been moaning as I kept saying how delicious they were. Perfection on an oyster shell. We shared 2 doz chargrilled plus I had a doz raw with cocktail sauce and freshly grated horseradish. I seriously think I could have had more oysters! Terry also ordered their fried mushrooms, best we ever had! We ate like Kings and Queens. Dragos is on our list to go to but if we don't make it there this time, I'm so happy with NOLA Southern Grill's chargrilled oysters, I'm good, I don't need to go. I would like to compare the chargrilled oysters though, we shall see. But in the meantime....move over Dragos! NOLA Southern Grill has entered the building! Let's what we can get into trouble with later today in NOLA. I have my list!
