Waffles really DO equal love!!! We traveled into Salt Lake City for the week and found ourselves here not just once but twice in three days- it was that good! Both savory and sweet options are incredible. We were really impressed by the quality of the meats and ingredients in our sandwiches- the bacon was thick, the fried chicken juicy inside and crispy outside, the sauces- delish! Of course, the waffles are sooooooo tasty! Our second morning, I tried the classic Biscoff and while cream waffle. Yummy! Service is kind and friendly. Everything was delicious at this cute fast casual style restaurant! I stopped here around 4 with a couple friends for a midday snack. There was no line to order, plenty of seating, clean tables, and we got our waffles in about 5-10 minutes after ordering. The atmosphere was very cute, and there were two women behind the counter with attentive and friendly service when we ordered. Most of the waffles are the thicker liege style like what you often find on a ski slope, and both the sweet and savory options were delicious! Ordering is also cafeteria style, where you order first and then go pick up the order by the counter. We tried following items: -- Nutella Love: one can never go wrong with Nutella, it wasn't too sweet due to addition of fruits] as my dad was afraid of -- Banana Cream Pie: chocolate stuffed waffle just added a different touch to this dish -- Grilled Cheese & Bisque: probably my favorite one, very simple dish but so delicious -- Avocado Toast: it was little bland but they did give a lot of avocado so can't complain and I ended up eating avocado with my grilled cheese -- Sunshine: was little hesitant to try this one due to a lemon curd but it was a great combo of savory and sweet. This review covers three trips to Waffle Love. First trip I got the Breakfast Sammy which is eggs, cheese and bacon on a waffle croissant described as "crisp and light with 27 layers of flaky goodness." It was pretty darn tasty and their version of hollandaise is quite delicious. My only concern is that it was around around lunch time and the place was empty. Just me and another customer. That was a month ago. The other concern was the food took awhile to come out. I've been back twice this week. It's been a stressful week and some good waffl-y comfort food sounded perfect. On Tuesday, I got the Grilled Cheese and Bisque. The waffle croissant wasn't as light and crisp as I remembered from a month ago but was pretty good. The tomato bisque was surprisingly good and had a bit of bite to it which I liked. YUM. Again, the food took a while to come out and I was there around lunch and it was me and two other customers. Then came today............. I went in around 12:30ish and it was me and four people waiting for take out. I got the sammy again since it was a good experience a month ago. Not this time. First, it took a long time to come out and when she brought it she said she was sorry but the waffle iron was having issues (I don't recall exactly what, but you get the gist). This time, the waffle croissant wasn't even close to light and crispy with 27 layers of goodness but a thin hard super greasy thing. And one side was barely a waffle, fell apart right when I picked it up since it was more of a "lacy" waffle than a solid one. See my photo. Greasy... UGH! And the eggs were wayyyyy overcooked. Yolk was rock solid and hte whites were brown and hard. Nothing like the first time. I couldn't even eat it and turned it back to the girl (she must have been all of 17) behind the counter. She offered another but I had waited long enough for the first one so she gave me a coupon for a freebie. She again said the waffle iron was taking a while blah blah blah.... Makes me sad to see this place not do well since I liked it the first time around. But the empty space, slow service (I think they only had two irons) and greasy food isn't going to cut it. Absolutely delicious!!! I ordered the chicken and waffles, and the chicken was extremely tender on the inside and perfectly crispy in the outside. The waffles themselves had a nice flavor to them. The dish itself came with a delicious chipotle sauce as well as maple syrup. My friend ordered the avocado toast, which came on a waffle (of course). She enjoyed it, but it looked a bit plain compared to the other items we ordered. My third friend ordered a dessert waffle called dulce de liege, which came with vanilla ice cream. I visited here yesterday with a friend for a late night waffle (which is the best kind, really). There were probably about ten or so people dining when we arrived a little after 9:00pm, and it was a Thursday night, so I bet this place is pretty happenin' on the weekends (I can't even imagine Saturday morning...I don't really want to). 90% of their menu is sweets, but they also have some savory items like grilled cheese with bisque, and I'm pretty sure I saw a sign for biscuits and gravy. There are about 12 waffle options, customizable in many ways, so you've got a lot of possibilities here (liege, croissant, or filled waffles, berries, bananas, ice cream, lemon curd, and several other toppings). I ordered the Nutella Love with raspberries, and my friend ordered the Red Wonder. They were both delicious, although I think the Nutella topping beat Biscoffs juuuust by a hair. The whipped cream was only lightly sweetened...or maybe not sweetened at all? (that's a good thing with all the other sugary toppings), and the fruit seemed fresh. I do wish I'd had more raspberries on my waffle, but that seems nit-picky, and in the future I could always ask for extra. It took about ten minutes for our waffles to be prepared. They made a mistake on my friend's order, realized it as soon as they brought our food out, but he said it was okay. A little disappointing, especially considering they weren't busy, so there wasn't really an excuse. Prices are pretty moderate to maybe a teeny bit high at an average of $7.50 or so for most waffles. The servings aren't huge, and while you could share, I think most people can eat one on their own quite easily. We stayed until about 10:30pm. They close at 10:00pm, so we were totally "those people," but the kid working was pretty nice about it. I'd return when in the mood for something sweet, definitely if I want a waffle specifically. While there are better places for dessert in Salt Lake, Waffle Love is still very yummy, this is close to my house, and I appreciate that they are open late (or relatively so, considering the other options in that immediate area). read more

I'd normally give Waffle Love 4 stars, but on this visit, the waffles were way too sweet and were hard to cut through because of all the sugar that was in the batter. The waffles are usually thick and flaky on the inside but these were just thin and crispy. I couldn't eat more than a couple bites because they were too caramelized. Other than the batter being off, the waffles weren't bad and the toppings were good. This location is bigger than the Draper store and is really bright with fun decorations and murals. I waited a long time for my food. The girls apologized about the wait and gave me a $5 off coupon. I got home and my waffle was the first bad waffle I've ever had from Waffle Love. It was weird and thin and doughy. I wasn't going to write about it because I figured it was a one off. But today I took a mental health day from work and decided to treat myself to a breakfast Sammy. Granted it was busy, but not insane. I got here before 11:30am, waited a couple minutes before they were free to take my order. It is 12:10 and I still haven't gotten my food. I literally could've gone to a sit down restaurant and been done by now. Waffle Love has my love forever, but holy moly, guys. Let's get some more employees here if that's what's needed. read more

You know what? It's rhubarb season. That tangy, deep red, tart and oft unappreciated garden gem. I remember last year during rhubarb season I came to Waffle Love (it's a long story) so tonight, now that rhubarb season is upon us again, I was compelled to come back. I was here exactly a year ago, and it seems an appropriate time to check back in and talk about waffles. And love. I have a lot to say about both of those things. But tonight, the line between the two of them is going to get really hazy. Just as the chambers of waffle created by the rise of sweet batter give the final product their complexity; our hearts, their chambers, they make up that that organ that gives humans our most complicated, exquisite, excruciating and wonderful feeling: love. I ordered the Red Wonder. It's the same thing I ordered before, and even though it was my first time ordering it a year ago, I was so right then--more right than I knew--and I was right again tonight. Sweet waffle, topped with a sweet and somewhat crunchy biscoff spread, then covered with whipped cream and an assortment of red raspberries and red strawberries. This redheaded (strawberries blonde?) dish is the right mix of sweet, fresh, exciting, simple, complicated, indulgent, and heartpounding perfection. Sometimes you say, "Well, I must have just been lucky" when you get the right thing? Well, on the one hand I was extraordinarily lucky, but on the other, it only takes a taste to know it's something good. I knew what I had. There are plenty of other lovely things on the menu, but for me, I knew I had it then and I needed it again tonight. There's even more charm in the story. They have it written out on the wall where you order. The story of a kid who followed his heart. And who wasn't sure it would work out. We've all been there--and it may not work out for all of us, but in the moment we can only listen to what our heart says and follow it at the time. Like poets, artists, and musicians. Add waffle-makers to that list. You must, you MUST follow your heart. I think of the story of the young mandolin player who stayed at home perfecting his craft. He did it beautifully, better than anyone who had ever picked up the instrument. But no one there appreciated his music. It wasn't their fault, they just didn't hear the music the same way. Soon, he became discouraged, and after a while the mandolin was stored in a closet, gathered dust, and forgotten. One day, near the end of his life, he found it amongst his discarded belongings. Tears welled up as he thought about what could have been. But the world never knew his music, and his heart never knew the real, true, fulfilled love that comes from letting your heart pound in authentic rhythm with the music that you make. To all those who know their music isn't heard, I say PLEASE! Grab your mandolin and do what is right, brave, and hard. We now how beautiful waffles because of this same courage. That's the thing about love. Love causes us to do just as the founder did. It causes us to take action. Fear is what paralyzes us into inaction. Apathy and complacency are the enemies of love. Love is what we grab onto to overcome our fears. It's the secret. The motivator. Like biscoff spread, it's the special sauce. Anything can happen here. As I sit and write this review, the Edison bulbs shine brightly casting warm light on a crowd of teens hunched over their phones, a family with their kids out for a treat, couples in love on their first date, middle date, hopeful dates. Post-it notes are plastered all over the wall with special messages from lovers, one to the other. On this night, against all odds of the sometimes crummy world we live in, with just a little batter, a little sugar, and a little extra something, there is hope. Maybe it's a fool's hope, but it's there. Hope with a waffle iron pattern and some whipped cream. Love is alive and well at Waffle Love. read more

Got here at 8:30am on a Saturday during non-ski season and had the place to myself. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the restaurant was clean. I had the chicken avocado tartine with the chicken fried instead of grilled, the egg over hard and a side of bacon. It was perfect! 10 out of 10 recommend. The chicken was fried perfectly, so light and crispy. The waffle was the same, though it wasn't the star of this meal. It was the sauce! It pulled the whole dish together. Yum! read more

The food is great. Never a problem. HOWEVER-- wait time was 40+minutes for mine, and a full hour for my friend, even tho it wasn't busy AT ALL. We ordered to stay, and they made it togo-- the breakfast sandwich was cold and getting soggy already. The cheese was already hard and the "waffont" was falling apart. Every single table had some sort of syrup stain and/or crumbs, but there are no cleaning spray or anything to clean it ourselves. Bathroom was unhygienic and smells AWFUL. I have been to Waffle Love three different times and this review is simply a summary of my experiences. I love waffles. I mean I LOVE waffles. Ever time I come to Waffle Love I'm pretty excited because waffles tend to be an occasional treat for me. I wish I could say that I leave Waffle Love just as happy as when I arrive. When you go to Waffle Love there is a very wide variety of topping options for your waffle, but I'm very old school and when I get a waffle I want syrup and LOTS of butter. Each time I order this, I get cold hard chunks of butter with my waffle with the explanation that they don't usually serve butter with waffles and that they only use the butter to cook with. Okay. I can appreciate that. But you still have butter, and you still served it to me rock hard cold when it would have taken less than a minute to soften it in the microwave--which I generally have to ask them to do, but I shouldn't have to ask for that because who likes to eat a really cold and hard piece of butter with their kind of warm waffle? The lack of basic problem solving skills and customer service abilities is kind of annoying, though at least the staff is always friendly. The waffles themselves are thick and dense. For someone who hasn't had them before, expect the waffles to be more filling than you think they will be. The flavor of the waffle itself is pretty good, but not amazing. Unfortunately, all three times I've eaten at Waffle Love, I've left feeling queasy and kind of sick to my stomach. Another thing about this business is that all three times I've eaten there, the tables are absolutely filthy. I mean really disgusting. I wish I'd had the foresight in the past to take pictures to illustrate what I mean, but they're generally pretty gross. The flatware could also be cleaner. I would understand if they were slammed and simply couldn't get out from behind the counter to wipe off a few tables, but each time I've gone they've been slow enough for the people behind the counter to have had time to come out briefly and wipe off some tables. It's disgusting and unsanitary. In general, Waffle Love gets two stars from me because I have DEFINITELY had better. I really want to love Waffle Love. It's a cute little shop with a nice concept. I want it to be my go to waffle place and send every one there to eat. But it's not. Not for me. I don't foresee myself going to Waffle Love again. It's kind of a three strikes and they're out type of thing. Had to come try this place fresh and it delivered! At one of our job meetings they brought waffle love for us and it was great just getting a hit cold. So I finally made my way down here and it was sooo good I had the breakfast waffle which had 2 slices of bacon, 2 over hard eggs, avocado and the waffle. Wow! I never expected this place to be so good! It was my first experience with waffle love and the workers were so unbelievably helpful. They suggested an option to me that I would have never chosen for myself, but BOY! was I glad that I listened to them. It was amazing! It was called the cinna love and I was feeling the love! The girl behind the counter was more interested in socializing with her friend than getting my order right. I ordered a Nutella love with strawberries and added bananas. After waiting 20 min. I got a Nutella waffle with bananas, no strawberries, no cream. They took it back and cut up some strawberries, stem and all (yuck) and plopped on the waffle. Again, it went back for the cream. I get that it's hard to find good help these days, but a bit more training in customer service and checking the order before it goes out would be appreciated.
