Got Wagyu AYCE and it turned out to be such an immersive and premium Japanese tasting menu! I tried the Signature Sukiyaki Tasting Menu ($98/person), which includes multiple courses from appetizers and specialty dishes to dessert. One of the standout moments was watching the beautifully marbled A5 Wagyu Ribeye and Striploin prepared table-side, 10/10 vibes. Rich, buttery and incredibly tender, literally melts! Some of my favorite bites were: Wagyu uni handroll A5 Wagyu Nigiri A5 Wagyu Ribeye and Striploin If sukiyaki isn't your style, they also offer shabu shabu and all-you-can-eat options, so there's something for every kind of wagyu lover. If you're still craving more, you can even request for unlimited slices of Wagyu meats or upgrade your meal with quality add-ons. Thank you to the staff- Ted, Shawn, Josh, Andrew for the best service at Wagyu Master, we had such a great time.

Wagyu Master is located in the Paseo de Saratoga shopping center in San Jose. Part of the Chubby Group. No reservations but can join the waitlist on Yelp or upon arrival. We went on a Friday evening around 5ish and no wait. They have a 35 person seating capacity, dine-in only. As of June 27, they still don't have their liquor license. We were encouraged to download the "Chubby Club" which has member tiers. The standard membership is free and you can have 1 complimentary drink. They also have membership for a fee as follows: Chubby Club Plus for $88/year (now $58) and Chubby Club One for $28/year. On to their menu: They have 2 types of Tasting Menu 1. Sukiyaki Tasting Menu - $98 for non members and $85 for members. If you go for AYCE - + $20 for non members and $14 for members - this type of menu is more of the grilling side 2. Shabu Shabu tasting Menu - $88 for non members and $75 for members. If you go AYCE - +$25 for non members and $20 for members - this type is more of the soup base. They also have the Lunch tasting Menu and Sukiyaki Lite Menu from Monday - Thursday for much cheaper pricing. Complimentary drinks are Pepsi, Starry, Dr. Pepper and Hot green tea. We opted for the Sukiyaki Tasting menu, skipped the AYCE because the regular menu was too much for us. For our food: Chef's Daily Special * Assorted Japanese Pickles Zensai (choose 1) * Tempura Fried Assortment - good (2 servings of this * Poke Salad - husband loved it, never got the chance to try it though (they served 2, possibly by mistake but hey, I'm no complaining just confused) - son wanted the Chicken Karaage or A5 Wagyu Musubi but they were out of it Specialty Dish (choose 1) * A5 Wagyu Handroll w/ Foie Grass * Lobster Roll w/ Uni & Caviar - people were raving about it, that it's a must order but I was not a fan, it was too basic, didn't even finish mine. * A5 Teppanyaki Wagyu Steak - it was too hard Main Course: * A5 Wagyu Striploin w/ Snow Peas and Leeks * A5 Wagyu Ribeye w/ Shitake Mushrooms & Yaki Tofu *A5 Wagyu Ribeye w/ Snow Peas & Konjac Noodles Additional Selections: unlimited by request so we had 1 order each of the A5 wagyu Top Round, A5 Wagyu Shoulder, A4 Wagyu Brisket (we ordered 2 for this) & Vegetable Platter Dessert: * Matcha Mochi * Vanilla Ice Cream *Matcha Mille Crepe Overall, the meal was decent and pricey. The Bay Area finally gets its own Wagyu Monster, and judging by the reservation book, people have been waiting for it. Tables are tough to score, and because the San Jose location is smaller than Pasadena, expect a queue even with a reservation. Fortunately, the space is beautifully designed--modern, polished, and a noticeable step up aesthetically. The concept remains the same: an AYCE menu that leans into abundance rather than restraint. The Diamond tier gives you access to an impressive range of wagyu cuts, seafood, sushi, hot pot, and enough side dishes to derail even the most disciplined ordering strategy. The wagyu nigiri is still one of the more unique offerings. Instead of the typical thin slice, they drape an entire shabu-cut sheet of beef over the rice and finish it with a tableside torch. It's undeniably theatrical. Personally, I still prefer a thinner slice with a higher rice-to-beef ratio, but others at our table loved the richer bite and interactive presentation. The wagyu itself was a pleasant surprise. Despite the beautifully marbled ribeye, I found myself preferring one of the leaner cuts, which delivered a cleaner texture and more pronounced beef flavor. One notable upgrade over Pasadena is the king crab, which immediately became one of my favorite items. It was excellent in the Hunan broth. The caviar lobster rolls were another repeat order--rich without feeling excessive--and the egg tarts remain one of the best desserts on the menu. The biggest differentiator, though, is the sukiyaki experience, which isn't available at the Pasadena location. Having premium wagyu simmered tableside in the sweet-savory broth made the meal feel less like an AYCE marathon and more like a proper Japanese hot pot course. I'd come back for that alone. This still isn't where I'd send someone seeking the Bay Area's best sushi or highest-grade wagyu. It's where I'd send friends who enjoy exploring a huge menu, comparing cuts side by side, and leaving with a list of favorites for next time. In that category, Wagyu Monster is a lot of fun--and San Jose may be the stronger of the two locations.

My second time dining at Wagyu Master, and it's long overdue for me to leave a review. I celebrated my friend's birthday here with a group of 8, and the staff did an amazing job accommodating our party. From seating arrangements to service throughout the meal, everyone was attentive, friendly, and made the celebration feel special. Of course, the star of the show was the wagyu. It is prepared sukiyaki and hot pot style. The quality and flavor were exceptional, and every course felt thoughtfully prepared. It's the kind of meal that makes you slow down and savor each bite. Each guest receives a personal chef that prepares each course right in front of you, which makes the experience exceptional. Thank you Chef Scarlet for your amazing service. While our large group had a fantastic time, I think Wagyu Master truly shines with smaller parties. The setting and dining experience feel more personal and intimate, allowing you to fully appreciate the food and hospitality. Thank you to the team for helping make this experience memorable. Tried this new sukiyaki and shabu-shabu hot pot spot on a Friday around 1 PM and joined the Yelp waitlist. It was busy with about a one-hour wait, but it was totally worth it! The ambiance was modern, neat, and clean, with high countertop seating that gave it a stylish bar-like feel. The service was excellent--shoutout to our server, Michael, who was attentive and gave great recommendations. I had the Shabu Shabu tasting, while my husband ordered the Sukiyaki tasting. The A5 Seared wagyu nigiri literally melted in my mouth, and the Otoro uni caviar hand roll was amazing. All of the A5 wagyu was top quality, and we loved that they cooked the meat for us with the sukiyaki course. Highly recommend this place, and we'll definitely be back!

We decided to check out Wagyu Master because it was part of the Chubby Cattle chain. We made reservations for Saturday night at 7pm and surprisingly when we got there there was no wait. I couldn't decide between the menu options so we went with the sukiyaki tasting since that was the more popular one. The experience comes with some appetizers to pick from (ex: the lobster roll and poke salad), chef's choice for sashimi, the tasting, udon/rice with eggs, ayce for the meat, and dessert. The experience was fun, but the sukiyaki was too sweet. Overall, I think this place was over priced for what it is especially if you aren't a member and have any discounts.

SATIATED! 4.5 This was our first visit to Wagyu Master though we're already familiar with the Chubby Group through multiple visits to our local Mikiya Wagyu House and Niku X in Los Angeles. While all three concepts specialize in premium A5 Wagyu, each delivers a distinctly different dining experience. We arrived right at opening and there were a few seats already taken at the long, U-shaped bar. This restaurant offers only bar seating and has capacity for 30 guests at a time. There are purse hooks tucked beneath the counter, though a few more would definitely be appreciated. At first glance, the double-sided menu may feel a little overwhelming, but our server did a great job of simplifying everything. The primary experience really comes down to two key decisions: 1. Sukiyaki or Hot Pot, and 2 . Whether or not to add the AYCE (all you can eat) option. Along the way, there are a couple "choose one" selections and toward the end of the meal you're offered unlimited servings from three different Wagyu options, one A5 and two A4 meats. Our server cooked our meats in the style of "shabu shabu" where he gently swished the meat back and forth through the sauce. The Sukiyaki sauce is very rich and flavorful and can get a little salty if left in the pan for too long. Toward the end, we got the opportunity to shabu shabu our own meats. Initially, the pace was quite quick as we were enjoying our first selection, then the second dish was placed atop the cooking area in front of us. I'm used to a slower pace; however, I understand the nature of AYCE establishments. Once we were able to cook our own meats, we were able to slow the pace a bit. One especially helpful tip from our server was to wait until later in the meal before deciding on the AYCE upgrade, since it also unlocks additional sushi options. By the end of dinner, we were completely full and decided not to add it. For dessert, we chose the matcha ice cream and the matcha mochi. The mochi's texture was much softer and less chewy than the traditional style I'm accustomed to, so I swapped it out for the Matcha Mille Crepe cake in its place. We have the Chubby Club Plus membership and will definitely return to try the Hot Pot menu next time!

We visited on a weekday and opted for the sukiyaki tasting menu. The Highlights: The appetizer course was excellent, especially the uni and ikura chawanmushi and the otoro, uni, and caviar handroll. The A5 teppanyaki steak was also a standout. I would skip the poke salad, however. The Sukiyaki Experience: The main event was a letdown. While the A5 wagyu was high quality, the preparation did not reflect the promised Kansai-style experience. The meat was drenched in an overly salty, concentrated broth right from the start, more akin to a standard Kanto style. True Kansai-style requires precise grilling, caramelization, and a light drizzle of sauce, all of which were missing. Additional notes: AYCE portion: The AYCE meat was a significant drop in quality compared to the initial cuts. Dessert: Both the matcha mille crepe and matcha mochi were underwhelming. Drinks: Unlimited drinks via Chubby Club membership are a plus (excluding the ume soda that limits one per person). Final Thoughts: The meal started strong but faltered on the main course due to a lack of technical execution. I hope to see better staff training to ensure a more authentic experience in the future.

Let's start with the good - the meat is great! The servers are all kind and nice. Plenty of parking. There were open seats at 8pm on a wednesday. Then let's get into expectation setting: I think it's important to go into this understanding what you want. Do you want this to mostly be just a one time experience to try new fancy dishes? or are you trying to optimize AYCE? If you want to go for the experience, then you'll have a great time, and should be closer to a 4-5 star experience. If you're part of the chubby club and trying to see if Wagyu Master can replace Mikiya, or you're trying to optimize AYCE, then you reallllly have to make an effort to optimize your time here. First, they have 2 options, a Sukiyaki tasting menu, and a Shabu Shabu tasting menu. Both some with starters, which somewhat slows your meal down. The appetizers are fancy, but I would say, skip the king crab legs. They came out a bit tough and rubbery. The sashimi was good, and the tartare was also tasty, but these fill you up. The sukiyaki is Kansai style (Osaka), in which the first portion of your meal is dry-cooked (by the employees) to render the fat from the meat into the pot before adding broth (much later). They do a good job with this, but the pacing is slow though. Sukiyaki broth is also sweet. I was told that choosing this experience you could not switch out the broth, but the 4 other people in my party did this experience and all picked various broths from the Shabu side. I opted to to the shabu shabu experience since I didn't want a sweet base, also I wanted to optimize AYCE. However, once the rest of my party started on their experience, I was kind of forgotten about until I asked when I would be selecting a soup base (there are 4 to choose from including tomato, sukiyaki, miso tonkatsu, and bonito dashi). I selected the miso, but would try the dashi next time. Also, because the employee was busy with cooking meats for my friends, I would often have to wait to ask for additional meat or other things like water. There are 3 dipping sauces, the seafood spicy, a sweet soy, and sesame. I stuck with the seafood spicy because they have thai chilis cut up into it, but towards the end of the course, I avoided the sauce because the sweetness was becoming prominent. Other than veggies, which they bring a plate of, for the other items, you will have to ask for, which you also may have to flag someone down to assist. I got the A5 gyudon which was tasty but much too big of a bowl for 1 person. Overall the meats are good, the veggie selection is kept simple. If you're trying to optimize AYCE, stick with the Shabu Shabu and be proactive on asking for things. The cons are really just all the waiting which fills you up significantly faster, no alcohol selection, and a lot of things being a bit on the sweet side. I think the first time is a learning curve for me. I think my experience will get better in time, and perhaps next time, I'll ask to skip all the appetizers and go straight to hot pot and meat.

We came as a group of 6 and since they don't take reservations, we showed up 10 minutes before opening to find a line already forming. Once they opened the doors though we were seated immediately, so the wait was short. One thing worth knowing before you go is the seating setup. It's all bar style with the staff working in the middle, which means if you come with a big group you'll likely be spread out and only able to talk to whoever is right next to you. For that reason I'd say this spot is better suited for groups of 2 or 3 max. I was at the end of the bar and barely got to talk to half the people I came with, which was a little unfortunate. Now the food. Really good. You get to choose between the sukiyaki route or the hotpot route, and here's a tip I wish someone had told me beforehand. If you go the sukiyaki route, you get way more dishes AND you can still do hotpot at the end. I went hotpot only and had a great time, but knowing I could have had both would have changed my order instantly. The one thing I'd skip is the lobster roll with uni and caviar. It sounds impressive but the roll is tiny, the inside is lobster paste rather than actual chunks of lobster, and the flavor was just okay for the price. Everything else was solid and the service was great. Would definitely come back, ideally with just one other person so I can actually have a conversation the whole time!

Overall, we did enjoy our sukiyaki experience at Wagyu master given that the restaurant was only half empty on a Wednesday night. The staff were very friendly. My favorite part of the meal was the beginning. Chubby plus members get free drinks so that was a nice perk. I liked the Ume soda. The pastel de nata was not bad, but it definitely helped fill me up. I should've saved it for after the meal. The chef special was pretty good as well. I got the hand roll w/ foie gras in there - I enjoyed it. I love chawanmushi so I'm already biased there. What I didn't love was the seasoning for the sukiyaki. It was too salty for my preference. The meat was still good quality though. The donburi was pretty good, but again, too salty because they use the sukiyaki sauce. I do very appreciate the chef checking about rice portion size before giving it to us. As for the desserts - I agree with other reviews. It was a bit disappointing. The Mille cake was not fully defrosted and the mochi has a weird consistency that is not mochi-like at all. For the price, I do expect everything to be good quality, hence why I dropped it to 3 stars. (Side note: I really don't know how I got so bloated even though I don't think I ate as much as I would at an ayce???? We didn't even order extra rounds of meat because we were so full.)

Another Chubby restaurant opened, so I knew I had to try it. There's not a lot of places in the country that specializes in sukiyaki, so I definitely had to try this place. I got the tasting menu and I did not know it turns to an ayce after the tasting is set. Poke Salad (5/5): Got this for the appetizer and it was amazing. Super fresh and flavorful. Chef appetizer (5/5); This was an absolute treat. It comes with slices of sashimi, Wagyu tartare, and chawamushi with ikiura. It tasted very luxurious and even though this place does specialize in sushi, it was amazing. Otoro handroll (5/5); comes with Uni and shiso leaf. Another luxurious dish to eat! A5 meats (5/5): Super fatty and sweet with sukiyaki. Runny egg don (5/5): I loved how runny it was and comforting with the rice In order to make my moneys worth I had to get full with ayce. I really enjoyed my experience here and I want to give a shout-out to my server Michael! He did a great job at explaining and cooking the dishes. I also loved his recommendations

Shabu is my absolute favorite food and my friend and I frequent Mikiya ever since it opened. Wanted to love Wagyu Master, but the lack of service made us realize we would not come back. Before 6 PM on a Thursday, it was already pretty full but there were still plenty of seats available for those that were waiting inside. After waiting 15-20 minutes, we were first taken to the handicap table which we wouldn't have minded, but it was next to all the dirty rags and that's all you could smell so we asked to move. They don't provide you with the general AYCE menu and seem to push the tasting menu, but we knew we wanted to do AYCE shabu and eat at our heart's content. We placed the order of appetizers, meats, and rice. We wanted to order some soda, but there's no way to order off the tablet. I ordered through a server, but after 10 minutes and him just standing around, I ordered through someone else. The nigiri, rolls, and handroll were very top notch! This was definitely a nice to have. However we came to eat meat and not just sushi. The lobster roll wasn't very good and the bread was overly toasted. The crab croquette was just a creamy mess inside and didn't like it. My friend and I both got the miso tonkotsu broth, but it was so salty! We had to keep asking for water to be poured into our broth. The veggie plate has good veggies, but quite small in portion but you can order more if you want. We ordered the ribeye and shoulder. Both were very good, the shoulder was surprisingly better, nice marbling. The ribeye was a bit too fatty for our taste. After our first round of meats...we waited at least 15 minutes for our next round. We finally asked one of the servers and another 5 minutes, half of our meat order came out. The second half never arrived, nor did our bowls of rice. Everyone was catering just to the tasting menu diners. Everything was taking so long and we couldn't enjoy as much meat as we'd like, especially as they gave us the 90 minute time limit. I thought that was unacceptable given we were just sitting with no food coming out. The matcha mille cake was icy and gross. For $108 the meal didn't fit our standards as we didn't get to eat as much meat as we'd like. Will be sticking to Mikiya for AYCE shabu going forward.

Never had the sukiyaki style Japanese experience. Really enjoyed it. Expect a coursed meal - we started with multiple appetizers before moving onto the main course. For the meat, the A5 Wagyu Strip loin wasn't as tender as I would've expected but the A5 Wagyu Rib-Eye was delicious. The flavor intensified as you progressed through the meat options. Just when you thought they were done, they brought out more meat to cook in your choice of broth. Somewhere in between they had a carb option which was a nice break from all the meat. Hubby got the egg over rice and I chose the stir fried udon. If you had room, you can finish off with dessert, which I opted to skip as I was beyond stuffed at this point. Service was excellent. This, I would rate as 5 stars. We had Andrew as our cook. He was great!! There wasn't much of a wait in between cooking of the meat. He went at a good pace that allowed you to enjoy each course. Jacob came around and checked on us intermittently, as well, to make sure everything was to our liking. Overall a great first experience as they've only been open 2 weeks. There may be more value for others who can eat more than I could as this could get pricey especially if you're not a member of the Chubby Club. Essentially I ended up doing only the initial round of meat options, however, for those with larger appetites, you can continue as some of the meat such as the A4 options are unlimited. read more

Had an amazing experience at Wagyu Master, and a huge part of that was thanks to Kevin and Shawn. Their service was top notch from start to finish, attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great time. They took the time to explain the different cuts and made excellent recommendations that absolutely delivered. Everything felt smooth, welcoming, and thoughtfully handled. It is rare to come across service that feels this personal and polished at the same time. Wagyu Master is in a league of its own. The shop is immaculately clean, and the quality of the meat is second to none. What really sets this place apart, though, is the service. Jacob, Shaun, and Kyle are true experts--incredibly knowledgeable about their cuts and marble scores, and they made the entire experience seamless. Extremely disappointed today. We drove almost an hour specifically to try the sukiyaki lunch special after checking the website for the hours of operation. To make sure, we also called ahead, and the AI phone agent repeatedly confirmed that the restaurant would be open at 11:30 AM. On top of that, the website menu clearly advertises the lunch special as being offered Monday through Thursday starting at 11:30 AM. However, when we arrived, the restaurant was not even open. The inconsistency between actual hours of operation and the website information and the phone system is incredibly frustrating. The wait honestly wasn't bad at all, we checked in and were seated about 40 minutes later. There was already a line before they even opened, which felt like the first sign this place was going to be something special. I didn't quite know what to expect. I've never been someone who eats raw anything, but at that price point I figured I might as well try everything and I'm so glad I did. Every single bite was incredible. Beyond the food, the service was truly white-glove. Attentive and perfectly paced. It's not just a meal, it's a full experience. I finally got to try this place on a weekday for lunch and it did not disappoint. My party of 3 got lucky with no wait, we practically had the restaurant and staff to ourselves. So it was nice getting to know the workers without them stressing in between cooking for customers. We went for the Sukiyaki Tasting Menu + AYCE (I believe it was the most expensive one). It was super tasty, we loved every dish during the tasting menu. For the soup portion, we each got to pick our broth of choice, so my friends did Sukiyaki, while I tried the Miso. Both were flavorful and tasted like how they should be. Wagyu came out super tender and thin so it didn't felt so overwhelming. Since we got AYCE, the meats kept coming until we decided we were full. Tried this popular new restaurant earlier this week. I've read that the wait is super long, so we were pleasantly surprised to find the wait was less than 5mins on a Monday night. They have two tasting menus (sukiyaki and shabu). We tried both and got a sampler of the different options for the first course. I stopped by Wagyu Master, part of the Chubby Cattle family, around 4 PM and luckily there was no line. The restaurant is relatively small, seating about 35 people, with a sleek and modern design. The setup is counter style where the chefs cook everything in front of you, which adds a bit of theater to the experience. Because the meal is served in multiple courses and takes time, expect a wait during peak hours. I went with the Sukiyaki Wagyu full course which comes with several appetizers, add ons, and dessert. It is more of a tasting style experience rather than a quick meal. The Wagyu teppanyaki steak unfortunately was the weakest part of the meal. All the pieces were tough and chewy. Wagyu is supposed to melt in your mouth, so this was a bit disappointing. I ended up discarding a few pieces after chewing. To their credit, Charlie the manager noticed right away and stepped in. He offered to bring different options for me to try and handled the situation professionally. His service really helped turn the experience around. Most of the appetizers felt like premade frozen items that were reheated. For a restaurant centered around Wagyu, I would love to see them develop more original in house appetizers instead of relying on frozen bites. The Wagyu and sashimi quality overall felt similar to Mikiya, their sister spot. It almost feels like some of the items were tested there before appearing here. At around $100 per person, it is not exactly a steal but also not unreasonable for a Wagyu focused experience. Final verdict: the service is really what stands out here. The food still has room to improve, but the hospitality made the visit enjoyable. I am giving it 5 stars largely because of the service and hope the food will continue to improve over time. Looking forward to the upcoming Chubby Cattle opening at Westfield Santa Clara as well. read more

Wagyu Master is basically Mikiya + Chubby Cattle on steroids. I came for an NFT private tasting and went with the sukiyaki tasting menu, which Alan cooked tableside. He was attentive, personable, and paced everything perfectly, elevating the experience. He remembered me from a previous tasting -- as "the guy that eats a lot" -- and made sure my wife and family were taken care of. The ambiance is intimate, with a round sushi-bar setup seating about 35 people, and along one wall is a timeline showcasing the history of Wagyu Master, which adds a nice touch of story and context. Alan also recommended the sparkling yuzu drink. I usually avoid sugary drinks, but this one was refreshing and balanced -- a perfect palate refresher. I was also lucky to meet Phil, who was prepping the concept for public opening and helped make the night extra special. We tried almost everything: the teppanyaki A5 wagyu steak, all the hand rolls (the toro + uni + caviar + A5 wagyu hand roll was incredible), A5 seared wagyu nigiri with uni, and sides like fried pea and ube tempura -- crispy, crunchy, and perfectly salty. We opted for the $20 add-on unlimited meats, and favorites were A5 ribeye, A4 shoulder, and A4 brisket -- rare A4 cuts not commonly found in the U.S., don't miss them. Dessert was a delight: Portuguese egg tarts were flaky and flavorful, and the matcha mille crepe cake was light and not too sweet, ideal after all that wagyu. Highly recommended. This was our first time at Master Wagyu, and we didn't realize at first that we didn't have to grill the meat ourselves because they grill it for you in front of the table, which made the experience even more special and relaxing. We did the Sukiyaki tasting menu ($85 each for members), and it was actually a good amount of food for the price. The chef's daily special was really good and a nice portion. The poke salad was fresh and tasty, and by the time we got the Wagyu hand roll with uni, I was already getting full but it was so good I still wanted more. Then we had the three different meats, and Scarlett grilled them for us and made sure each one was cooked perfectly. There were many courses and different meats to try, so you definitely get full by the end and might even need to take some food to go. Our waiter Scarlett was really sweet and thoughtful throughout the whole evening . She grilled the meat for us, explained the flavors of each cut, and made sure every piece was cooked to our preferred level. She was fun to talk to, very attentive, and kept checking on us to make sure everything was good. Came here because we heard so much about this place. Our experience was a bit different. We felt like they didn't explain to us the difference between both of the items. Honestly, we got one of each, but if we knew that it was going to be going into the same direction of Shabu I think we would've got the sukiyaki experience. It was hard for them to explain to us what the difference was. We ordered hot tea and udon when we first got there and it didn't come out to the very end. Then after we received the broth and I wanted a refill they were out of sukiyaki broth.. they refill it with u believe water with some seasoning. We were set at the bar. Not sure if it's a different experience than the patio..? But we weren't offered a patio . They were also out of sauces as well. They only had one type of sauce and it was ponzu sauce.. they also ran out of meat as well.. so our choices were very very limited. .. overall I felt like it reminds me of Mikiya.. but Mikiya has more options . We came to Waygu Master for the first time and were truly amazed by the unique dining concept. Everything felt new and exciting to us. Our server, Minh, made the experience even better. He thoroughly explained the menu and continued to guide us as he cooked the meat right in front of us. He constantly checked in and asked how we preferred our meat cooked, which made the experience feel very personal. The meat cuts were thick, juicy, and full of flavor. Besides their Japanese wagyu, their specialty dishes were also impressive, especially the king crab legs and lobster rolls. I normally don't leave reviews, but I had such a great experience at Wagyu Master that I felt I needed to share. It was Father's Day weekend, and I came in on Saturday morning with my two kids. Since it was our first time, I was honestly pretty confused about how everything worked. Thankfully, Fonda was incredibly helpful from the moment we arrived. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions with patience, and made sure we felt comfortable and knew exactly what to order. We got our name on the waitlist shortly after they opened at 5:30pm for a party of 4 and was told to be back at 6:30pm. We came back as soon as we were #1 on the waitlist which was after 7pm and was told to hang tight. The host let us know that there is a party of 10 with an investor in it and another 7pm reservation will get priority but that we're next.... He would notify us every after maybe 30 min at a time saying seats would open up, until next thing you know we have been waiting for 3 hrs when we finally got seated! When we got seated and ordered, the couple who got seated after us got their food first! We gave it a chance but no food was worth the 3 hr wait. Our couple friends had somebody cooked their food for them at least 10-15 min before we finally had a chef cooking our sukiyaki. Egg tart was good-flaky and not too sweet, the sashimi was fresh along with the egg custard. The otoro uni caviar handroll was really salty and the wagyu A5 shoulder that they cooked for us were way too chewy. The rest of the meats were underwhelming for the price that we paid. The desserts were very disappointing -matcha mochi did not have the right texture, no chew to it. And the matcha crepe was bland and still almost frozen. We walked in around 1:30pm on a Sunday and were able to get seated right away. Our server Minh was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Lots of great options on the menu and will be back again to try the others. The food was tasty and the quality was good. The servers were very attentive and helpful when telling us what was next and not to worry about finishing the different courses as we could take it home. Save room for the hotpot and AYCE! The miso tonkatsu was delicious and my husband enjoyed the tomato broth as well. It only seats about 40 inside, they but also have outdoor seating, maybe 6 tables that can seat 4. We arrived at 5:30pm and was told the wait would be an hour and our table would be ready by 6:30pm. However, it is now 7:50pm and we still haven't been seated. The staff told us there's a table of 10 that are seated by investors who he cannot say anything to. This table sat down when I put myself on the waitlist at 5:30pm so they're way past the time limit at this point at 7:50pm... Then a party of 7 comes in and the staff says they have a reservation and thus they get priority even though we've waited for almost 2.5 hours now. It's ridiculous and beyond me how any of this is okay. They're still letting people put themselves on the waitlist despite they're way behind schedule. I don't even know if I believe in the investor story because who would ruin the reputation of a restaurant they invest in like this?? Don't waste your money or time at this place. Other places with similar food like Mikiya has way better service than this. Update: We finally got seated at 8:30pm after waiting since 5:30pm. By the time we got seated, the restaurant had ran out of a few items already. Our choice of appetizer also kept getting mixed up and some just never came until we asked again during the sukiyaki course. The broth was a bit too sweet and same with the sauce used for the hand rolls. The matcha mochi was not chewy and tasted like it was coated with cough syrup. The matcha crepe cake also had no taste, the texture tasted like they just brought it out of the freezer as each layer was very icy... We had hoped the food quality or taste would be a redeeming factor. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Would not recommend this place to anyone at all. You're better off spending your time and money elsewhere that actually values your business. read more

First time here and thought it was a great experience. We had a larger party of 5, which I don't recommend going much bigger than that so we had different servers that helped us. Logan was the best as he gave us all the options and helped us through the menu as there is a lot you can choose from the tasting menu. I recommend the sukiyaki tasting and then when it comes time for the unlimited meats I recommend the miso flavor pot for your meats. The ambiance was relaxed and chill. If you want to be able to eat more meat pass on the dessert and the udon/donburi options. read more

Does everyone on the group have to do AYCE or can it be by each person? I have some people who can only do either handroll or shabu, and also some the wants to do both. Please advise!

They had a few (very tall) high chairs. I wouldn't say it's too kid friendly since the restaurant inside is small and cramped. Outside there's more room if tables are open. I personally wouldn't take my toddler here but a baby would be fine.

They don't accept reservations. In the beginning, you can virtually add yourself on the waitlist. However, as of last night, we had to go in person to add ourselves on the waitlist.

After the main course, you can get unlimited meat until your time limit of 90 minutes is over, you can ask your server to get it for you

Foods arrived promptly and we were surprised to see a many-piece fish dish served. Upon inquiry, the server mistook "Fish & Chips Combo Family Meal" with "Fish & Chips Family Meal". This meant we missed scallops, shrimps, and oysters and got just fish. She explained that what was served was lower in price, that did not impressed us. We ended up ordering another shrimp appetizer and bagged the extra fish. The server did not make any remedial offers. Just "oh well, that's what I wrote, moved on, decide what to do." That's a bit irking. As for the foods, they were pretty good. Seasoning was on the light side, and that's exactly how we liked it. Clam chowder was quite creamy. Tasty too, but you need to like creamy clam chowder first. There were two Louie Salad. Shrimp one was considerably less expensive than crab. Make sure to order the right one. But we're well made and delicious. I won't mind coming back, but probably not out of my way to do so.

The pan roast tasted good, I liked the spices, very flavorful. It was however a little too spicy for my partner. The staff let us know that this batch was a little spicier than most batches. We are ALWAYS so impressed with the yummy food (we always get 2lbs shrimp/2lbs crawfish combo in Medium Cap't Loui sauce with garlic noodles, garlic bread, and Cajun fries). Wifey and I are stuffed after this but will cleanse our palate with complimentary popsicles in the freezer by the entrance. So yes, the seafood boil and food is absolutely phenomenal. But even MORE impressive is the generationally excellent customer service, in particular from Aung and Edward. They are true servant leaders and I noticed they take care of each and every patron as if they were family members or royalty. I really like the seafood quality here, but sauce-wise, I prefer Cajun Bistro for the garlic butter sauce. Cap't Loui does not offer that sauce, but it was still delicious overall. Service is timely and our food came fast, so thats a big plus. Only complaint I have here is that I wish there was more sauce in the bowl. The bowl had too much food, so I couldn't dip or soak my seafood in the flavor.

It really seems that a change in the kitchen has lost their way. We may try once again in the future to see if it was just a badly off night, but I'm not hopeful.

Not wanting to cause any embarrassments, we hoped to get a couple of questions answered before we walked in. They don't answer their phone. They don't reply to emails. Their website says to contact them via phone messaging, but they don't even reply to THAT. Fortunately, there is another Japanese restaurant just one block down (Hachi ju Hachi) which serves superb, authentic Japanese food and which warmly WELCOMES its customers. We went there instead and are of the opinion we didn't miss out on anything by giving this kaiseki joint a pass.

I'd like to start by saying I never write reviews unless its for a discounted item or something really goes wrong. After visiting Wagyu Master this past Sunday, I needed to come on here and discuss why my experience was sub optimal. For some context, I arrived to the location at 7pm, was seated at 9pm in the back corner (which was pretty cold) and didn't start getting food until 9:30pm. As they close at 10pm, I came as a party of 2 and we were extremely rushed which I will get into later. For starters they don't take reservations and when I put my name down at the restaurant it said it would take about an hour (which it didn't). Additionally, i realised there was a party of 9 ahead of me. Given the layout of the restaurant (bar seating only), I have no idea why in God's name they are allowing parties of 9, but that's besides the point. I've never been to a chubby cattle location before, so this was my first one. I saw many tik toks and did research online before coming of course and I was extremely intrigued. I expected a vibey dim lit ambience with exceptional food and service. This was not the case. The vibe was extremely chaotic and there was a party of 4 next to us chowing down on AYCE as the kitchen was closing asking for 20+ trays of meat while we were sitting there for a prolonged period of time waiting to be fed. I recommend they remove the AYCE option and focus on quality (which I will get into) and a superior dining experience. Or, implement with a reservation options so people can eat timely. If they want to stay as this fast casual chaotic zoo then don't advertise as an elevated dining experience. I understand its their soft opening, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt here. Next onto the service. Since we were seated at 9, and didn't start getting appetisers until 9:30, we overheard the workers saying that the kitchen was closing at 9:30. I asked the worker if we would need to preorder the all you can eat meats now as the kitchen was closing. The response was to not worry as these can still be ordered at a later time. When it got to that time to order the AYCE meats, a different worker who was helping us now said that there was no more meats and he rushed to the back to "sneak us two plates of meat" which were frozen shut to the plate. So there was obviously some miscommunication amongst the workers. Other than that I can tell the workers were trying there best and I had no other issues there. Next on to the food. What was good: egg pastries, tempura, wagyu handroll, shoulder meat (yes, one of the frozen meats i managed to scrape off the plate- not 100% sure it was shoulder since we weren't told what the meats were but this was my best guess). What was bad: The sashimi was so bizarre. The salmon and hamachi tasted fine, but the Tuna, oh my god the texture was SO weird I could not sink my teeth into the tuna. The wagyu tartare was also this super cold (probably frozen-- seems to be a frozen theme) and a weird pink white color that I just could not eat. And, I love all things raw. Next, my girlfriend and I ordered the Sukiyaki tasting and when I tell you everything had the same strong sweet sukiyaki flavor, I started getting sick of it. I get that we ordered sukiyaki and I DO like sukiyaki, but I felt they could have done something different with the noodles, or provided something to break through the thick sweet sauce which overwhelmed the main meats, all the vegetables, and noodles. Next on desserts, our cake and mochi were also frozen. Nothing else to say here lol. Mind you, I was also fasting for Ramadan this day which means I did not eat all day, and I really just could not stomach what was provided because I was so turned off. Overall, some things were good but the things that were bad overshadowed the possibility of anything being good. I understand that this may be a one off experience and given the time that I was seated, but I felt so annoyed to pay 200+ for this experience. Wagyu Master delivers on its promise of a premium Japanese Wagyu experience, and then some. But what truly set this visit apart wasn't just the food -- it was the staff. Dining solo, I was a little unsure what to expect, but the team made me feel completely welcome from the moment I sat down. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about making sure I had an incredible time. Every question was answered with a smile, courses were paced perfectly, and I never once had to flag someone down. Hospitality like this is rare, and it turned a solo dinner into a truly memorable evening. The food, of course, was no slouch either. I sampled several cuts -- including beautifully marbled A5 ribeye and striploin -- and the fat distribution was truly stunning. Thin-sliced and presented on clean white platters, each piece looked almost too beautiful to cook. The sukiyaki preparation was perfection: the natural richness of the Wagyu shone through without being overwhelmed by the broth. Beyond the beef, a bright and well-seasoned poke salad with fresh tuna, salmon, cucumber, sesame seeds, and scallion was a lovely palate cleanser between courses. The sashimi presentation -- salmon and bluefin tuna with wasabi, nori, ikura, and a rich sesame dipping sauce -- was elegant and beautifully composed. The price point is steep, but when the food is this good and the staff this genuinely wonderful, it feels like money well spent. I have mixed feelings about my Friday night visit. On one hand, the food was excellent and our server was incredibly kind, friendly, and professional. On the other hand, the hostess's behavior was so unprofessional that it ruined the entire evening and cost me a six-figure business deal. We were seated at our assigned time after a two-hour wait, but the hostess--who was dressed in what looked like pajamas/ "just woke up" attire--lacked any sense of grace or etiquette. We were with a high-net-worth partner discussing private business plans. When I politely declined her offer to explain the menu so we could continue our conversation, she snapped back with, "No, I have to explain the menu to you." There was no "Pardon me," no professional greeting, and no respect for our privacy. Her attire and abrasive verbal communication were completely out of sync with projection of the establishment. While I appreciate the quality of the Wagyu and the effort of our server, a good meal isn't worth a bad mood. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere than risk another encounter with that level of hostility. If you are looking for a place to conduct business or enjoy a refined atmosphere, be warned that the "face" of this restaurant currently lacks the basic training to handle professional clientele. read more

I had an exceptional dining experience at Wagyu Master Sukiyaki House tonight, made truly memorable by the outstanding service provided by our server, Kyle. From the moment we were seated, Kyle's professionalism and expertise were on full display. His knowledge of the menu is impressive; he took the time to explain the nuances of every cut of meat in great detail, helping us appreciate the quality of the Wagyu we were being served. As a food reviewer, I had high hopes for this tasting menu, but it was disappointing overall. I waited almost 3.5 hours to be seated. I've always liked Mikiya, and since this restaurant is part of the Chubby Cattle group, I was excited to try it. The meal started well, the first three A5 wagyu servings were excellent and truly melted in the mouth. However, the starter felt cheap and did not match the price. The sukiyaki was too sweet, and the A4 wagyu was tough. Some of the sashimi did not taste fresh, and the matcha cake was hard. The side dishes were just average. At about $100 per person, I expected better service and more attention to detail. I had to ask for basic items like a spoon and soy sauce. As promised, The restaurant was open early to nft holders. Felt very exclusive because we didn't have to wait for public opening as the announced for Friday. Also didn't have to wait, for sure the wait will be long for this. Had a great experience, totally worth having the membership. The ingredients are so expensive I'm not sure how they keep the low prices. They must have some serious bulk discounts on the a5. I buy wholesale and won't even be able to replicate the pricing for the type of menu they have at home.
