Absolutely terrible experience with WAKUDA Las Vegas and specifically Christine Olivo, the Director of Event Sales. Our reservation was originally for 10 people, but I called around 11:30 AM, hours before a 5:30 PM dinner, to let them know I was sick and would not be attending. Ultimately only 7 people attended. The group was still dining together at one large table in the restaurant. This was not a private room buyout or full venue event where a few guests not attending would realistically impact operations. Instead of showing even basic hospitality or understanding, Christine sent an incredibly cold and passive aggressive email focused entirely on making sure the restaurant still hit its food and beverage minimum. The tone was honestly shocking for someone in hospitality. Rather than caring about the guest experience, the response came across as "we don't care that you're sick, just spend more money." The most ridiculous part is acting like 3 guests not attending a 5:30 PM dinner reservation somehow created a major issue for a large Las Vegas restaurant when the party still showed up and dined there anyway. It felt completely unreasonable and like a blatant money grab. Hospitality matters, especially at this price point. There are too many amazing restaurants in Las Vegas to spend your money somewhere that treats guests like walking credit cards. Christine's handling of the situation completely turned me off from ever returning. read more

With a hefty price tag, this restaurant is worth it for a special night out. As Vegas locals we avoid the strip like the plague, however the moment you step into this restaurant it gives that "wow" effect. Beautifully designed rooms with much attention to detail. The cocktails are very good and food is definitely worth the price tag (skip the sushi, it's just good sushi with strip prices) one notable mention is the miso ice cream. Careful to explain the flow of the evening and that the dishes are meant to be shared and will come out 1 at a time. With each dish the staff described the dish and ingredients. While appreciated it made it difficult to converse. Each time we would start to talk a new dish was coming out and they would have to interrupt to explain. Overall the food was ok. None of the flavors really stood out. The sashimi was flat and not the quality I expect for the price. Miso soup was delicious 9/10. Toro wasn't fatty at all 3/10. Froi gras dish was really inventive. Fruit and savory. I enjoyed it 8/10. Marinated cucumbers had a weird texture 2/10. We had a dessert dish with different desserts. She was amazing to work with and being from out of town she made the planning simple and seamless for me. She is also very responsive and accommodating! From the moment me and my guests walked in and met and greeted by the hostess, to sitting down at our seat, to our walk to the bathroom and the conclusion of our dinner, hour service was exceptional at every one of those points! Well, you won't see any pics of food in this review as I was too busy immersing myself in the Wakuda (tons of Waygu) experience! We had a family dinner here on a recent trip to Vegas. My husband and I rarely dine at restaurants this level (next level) but my niece and her wife absolutely love fine dining. Okay, so I know I did not go full 5 star on this one BUT despite a well in advance reservation we were seated in the dark bar off of the lobby with a very small table for a party of 5 and that immediately dropped the experience down a smidge. Our server was absolutely wonderful and made some excellent recommendations for us. We tried tons of items from spicy edamame to Waygu fried rice to Sashimi to a number of prepared steaks. All of our food was absolutely delicious and melt in your mouth. I will admit that some of these high end/high priced foods are lost on me - for example the filet mignon my husband ordered and shared did not taste any different than a filet I would get at a nice steakhouse (e.g. Flemings) yet the price was significantly higher. All in all, we had a wonderful meal and I tried some things I would have never tried otherwise and our service team was top tier. read more

This time around, we ordered the lobster tempura and it was worth every penny. The meat was perfectly cooked and had that fresh-lobster sweetness. The servers are super polite and helpful (e.g., they actually go ask the chef about allergens rather than speculating). I wasn't able to eat most of the food we ordered, but my coworkers gave phenomenal reviews. So, this review goes all the way back to over a month ago when I made a reservation through OpenTable. They did not have the time I wanted(6:30 or 7pm) so I picked the closest time available, 5:15pm, and figured I'd just call the restaurant to see if they could reserve the real time I wanted. I called, and called, and called and called. I must've called at least 4-5 separate times over a span of a week or so and nobody EVER answers the damn phone overt there! They suggest leaving a message and someone from the restaurant will call you back but after leaving 2 messages, no one ever did. So, I decided that I would have to either go to the restaurant in person, on one of the days I'd be in Vegas, and ask to change the time or have concierge at my hotel (Caesar's Palace) try and get in touch with the restaurant. Fast forward to a month later when Im in Vegas. I call the hotel concierge for help and they tell me that they can only help me with restaurants at Caesar's. Oh great. This isn't starting well. So, I then call the concierge at Palazzo. They actually got me through to the restaurant!! HALLELUJAH!! As I thought, the lady on the phone from the restaurant said changing the time was no problem. I even got a confirmation text saying it was changed. So, once I got the text, I felt comfortable canceling our 5:15pm reservation that was made through OpenTable. Now comes the day of the reservation. I go at 6:30. When i give my name and reservation time to the lady helping me, she acts confused. She says, "You didn't have a 5:15 reservation?" I tell her I used to but that I called and someone from the restaurant helped me change it. She tells me they may have a table but will need to look. MAY?? WTF is going on at this restaurant?! So, as I'm waiting, one of the other ladies comes over and inquires about my situation. I explain the entire detailed sorted affair. At the end, she replies "Do you know who you spoke to?" I told her no to which she answers "well, next time you should really get the name of the person you talk to. And call us directly. Don't go through the hotel". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Even though she was as polite as can be, it was the deflection that angered me so. Finally, I'm seated and I'm told my seat has the best waiter. I think we have different definitions of "best" cause he only visited my table a couple of times and was nowhere when I needed more soy sauce or wasabi or a refill on my drink, etc. yes, the food is excellent (and expensive) and the decor and design of the restaurant are beautiful but after everything I went through before AND during, there are far better Japanese restaurants to eat at in Vegas like Nobu or (believe it or not) Yellowtail. Such an awesome experience! Had date night with my husband a couple of nights ago. Easy to find if you park at Palazzo, up the elevator to the right of LAVO. If you valet, it's straight through the doors to the left. When you arrive, the entrance is already illuminated by bright neon lights. We were kindly greeted and seated. Decor and ambiance is beautiful. In the center are two sumos looking at each other, surrounded by cherry blossoms, to the right is the kitchen and you can see the skewers cooking on the robata grill. In the back in the sushi bar where the chefs are working their magic. Jeromy was our waiter. He was attentive, patient, & kind. He knew the menu like the back of his hand and explained the history of Wakuda, gave us fun facts about the chef, & all the details of what we ordered. I wanted all the dishes Chef Wakuda was known for and all the popular dishes We ended up getting the -soft shell crab roll - big eye tuna sashimi toast (also on their Singapore menu) - Red and Black Pepper Kinmedai - Big Eye Tuna Tataki - Seabass Miso - Duck on the Rocks - Grilled Octopus Desserts - Kakigori shaved ice - Miso Soft Serve We ended up doing a la carte vs omakase. The dishes were phenomenal. So flavorful. My all time favorites were the duck on the rocks and sea bass miso. The soft shell crab roll was nothing too special for us. But everything else was spot on. loved the bright citrus flavors that came from the salad & kinmedai. Desserts were gorgeous! The kakigori is made from an ice machine imported from Japan AND the ice is from Japan as well. How insane is that? The center had a fruity raspberry sorbet & the sweetness of the candy floss tied everything all together. That miso soft serve... omg I could have a whole bowl of that! They recommend to eat it with the wooden spoon because a metal spoon can change the flavor completely. We were notified that Chef Wakuda is also a sake samurai! He has a bottle of sake especially made for his restaurant in vegas (yep, you can't even get it in the Singapore location!). It's Junmai so that's pure rice. It was the perfect drink to sip on while we ate. In terms of price, Wakuda is pricey, but you get what you pay for a 2 Michelin starred chef's restaurant. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is just easy and welcoming. The hostess team is super friendly--they'll even offer to take a picture for you before you think to ask, which was a nice touch. Our waiter, Toshi (Level 1 sommelier), was great. Really knowledgeable but not in a forced way. He helped us find some Japanese drinks that matched what we like--one even had a bourbon-like feel--and everything was reasonably priced. He walked us through the menu and seemed genuinely happy to do it. Everyone who brought out food also took a second to explain what we were eating, which added to the experience without slowing anything down. Food-wise, it was just really good. Some of the best rolls I've had. The gyoza came open-face, which was different in a good way, and even the tempura stood out--which usually isn't the case. It is hard to find words to express how incredible this dining experience was! If you are interested in Japanese for your special occasion in Vegas, this is the restaurant to try. It's in the Venetian as well, so if you're not staying there it's an opportunity to take some quintessential Vegas photos. We had a bottle of Sake that was some of the best we've ever had (Kuheiji Junmai Daiginjo for about $150) and Travis's description as he opened it was expert level. Every piece of fish melts in your mouth. We had the salmon belly and the toro, absolutely worth the price. I (stupidly) put some soy sauce in my dish by habit. Not necessary. The nigiri was dressed appropriately by the chefs. Oyster trio is a great first course, all three flavors were unique and complimented the oyster amazingly. Before wine we all had cocktails (fantastic program) and the standout was the Lychee martini. No, it is not made with canned lychees or lychee liquor.. it is made and garnished with very fresh lychees. An absolute must try for a freshly crafted cocktail. Travis, you and your staff are exceptional! From the lovely folks who greeted us and seated us, to everyone helping Travis wait on us was of the utmost professional. When you're paying these prices that sort of hospitality goes a million miles and makes all the difference. It will be really hard not to come back when we're in Vegas again.. Not even sure where to start with this review because literally every aspect of my experience here was absolute perfection. So let's start at the very beginning (it's a very good place to start, I'm told). THE SPACE is breathtaking. The entrance is grand. The decor resplendent in every respect, with cherry blossoms and koi pond and giant ceramic Bhuddas. Just beautiful. THE SERVICE was warm and friendly and generous from the hostesses at the entrance to the servers (big shout out to Victor, who was just a delight and so much fun) and our waitress, who took great care to work with the chef to create a custom tasting menu for our group. THE DRINKS were spectacular. I chose the Mezcal Negroni Royale (Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Salers Gentian Liqueur, Blanc Vermouth, and Champagne) and it was to DIE for good (I loved it so much I've ordered all the ingredients so I can make one at home). Everyone else at the table was equally happy with their choices, and the sommelier helped us choose two magnificent sakes (Mizubasho Ginjo and Heiwa Shuzo KID Junmai Daiginjo) to enjoy with our feast. THE FOOD. Every single thing (and there were many things) that arrived at our table was indescribably delicious. From the kanpachi carpaccio to the kinmedai shiso, lobster tempura, snow crab, hotate, aburi salmon, sizzling duck on the rocks with edamame pesto, to the melt-in-your-mouth A5 Wagyu, everything was utter perfection. Wakuda is one of the best Vegas has to offer. First off, it's beautiful and the atmosphere is a perfect mix of 'Vegas energy' and 'Japanese hospitality'. My husband and I dined there on a busy Friday night - every table was full - but the experience was so relaxed, enjoyable and honestly flawless. Our server, Vincent, was extremely knowledgable about the food, the ingredients and was clearly very well experienced. We actually didn't order anything ourselves; we let Vincent guide or experience entirely and we're so happy we did! He was friendly, helpful and explained each dish to us as well as how the chef intended for it to be eaten in the cases where that mattered. He gave us an incredible progression starting with a selection of lighter dishes and finishing with a Wagyu steak. Each dish arrived exactly perfectly timed. Not rushed, but never waiting too long for something to arrive either. The food itself was perfectly balanced, flavored and obviously created with great attention and care. This is a place where you can just see that the staff not only cares, but is well cared for. It shows in every aspect. The drinks were just as good as the food. Well balanced, flavorful and complimented the food perfectly - just as Vincent said they would! Wakuda truly is an exceptionally well-run gem. Was so excited eat at Wakuda's Social Hour after passing by earlier this year during our last stay at the Venetian. Made a reservation online several months ago, but called and changed it to an earlier time on the same day that we actually visited Wakuda. No issues with our Friday Lounge reservation at 5:15. Seated right away. Lounge was fairly empty when we arrived. Given the new Social Hour menu. So new that the website may have even been updated the same day. Our waiter, Jeromy, was amazing. Ordered the Marinated Japanese Cucumber with a spicy sesame dressing, the salmon nori tacos with caviar, sea bass bites, chicken katsu sliders, miso soup and a beet salad to start. A few minutes later, we were visited at our lounge table by the GM Christopher, they had a big event earlier in the day and so they were not honoring the advertised Social Hour menu. Really? Why didn't they let me know when I called to change my reservation from 5:30 to 5:15 an hour earlier? If that was the case, we would have actually changed our reservation to later to accommodate family who wanted to join us. And all of these Social Hour items, except the chicken katsu sliders are on their regular menu. Did they run out during their big event? Christopher did offer us cocktails (which never happened) and told us that he would take care of us because they should have let us know and not taken our order for the Social Hour in the first place. So instead, we ordered a variety of soup, salads and seafood entrees. The whole fish that we ordered became the seabass miso (which was delicious, but not what we ordered). At first, I thought that he had sent out a little bonus lagniappe, but I was mistaken. The beautiful beet salad was served at the end of the meal after we finished our entrees. The chef did send out a single serving of his miso ice cream as a gift for our family (but I also read that this is a frequent gift at the end of a meal) and Christopher gave us a $39 discount on our meal, but I was surprised that Christopher did not follow through on what he offered us, such as the free drinks for our family (which would have exceeded $39 at an average $21/22 a pop) and taking care of us. It is a shame, because the restaurant is beautiful and what we ate was delicious. The service was amazing, but I felt quite put off by the GM. Would I go back? With locations in Vegas and Singapore, maybe. For dinner, I would book the main dining room over the lounge. The open kitchen views are so nice. But I would also recommend that the restaurant lets its employees know if a menu is not available if a guest calls to confirm especially if it is on a holiday weekend (which is what I did to confirm our lunch reservations with estiatorio Milos). read more

I teetered between a 4- and 5-star rating and thought, why would I give it a 4? I enjoyed everything about my experience at Wakuda. So a 5-star rating it is. My husband and I went here for date-night during our Vegas weekend- found it on Infatuation or Eater or one of those sites. Was easy to make a reservation for a Saturday night at 8:30, and when we arrived, it was still bustling but not crowded, if that makes sense. We like to order a bunch of things to share, and Wakuda was the perfect spot to do that- all of their starters and appetizers were delicious. I loved their little nori tacos (we got wagyu in ours), and spicy tuna crispy rice- they serve it a little different here, sorta like a lollipop of crispy rice that you could top with spicy tuna from a little bowl with a little spoon. So good! The marinated Japanese cucumber salad is probably one of the best cucumber salads I've had at an Asian restaurant. The cucumber was nice and crunchy, when I feel it's usually a little soft at other restaurants. The marinade was tasty and perfectly vinegary. Their fish is fresh. We got a roll that seemed like their "house special"; it was pretty much like a Rainbow Roll with different types of fish inside. Nothing special, but it was still good because again, the fish is good. We got a few orders of sushi which were delicious. When our waiter told us the dessert options and went with the ice cream, we had no idea it was going to be topped with gold. Edible gold. I mean, when in Vegas I guess.. ! I'd like to say we'd come here again, but there are so many sushi restaurants in Vegas and I'm the type of person that likes to try new spots. But if you are considering whether or not to come here- it's a no-brainer. Highly recommend. read more
