Dark pieces of fried chicken with collard greens

As I was looking for a different place to eat other than the usual. This establishment came in my view. Chicken and Beer definitely caught my attention. The establishment that used to be here was a BBQ joint which was good as well so this brick and mortar didn't skip a beat. The food is made from scratch and I can tell it was as well. I ordered the 1/4 fried chicken and greens. They had the best collard greens so far and they even have vinegar for the greens. Only people from the south know about that. Ha. Valerie was very courteous and ensured you had everything you needed.

1st time eating food from Waldo's . I came here once before as I was inquiring about if they had happy hour. The hostess said they didn't know. She went to the bar and asked them , the bar tender said she didn't understand the question but they had a list of beers that were dollars off , nobody could really give me an answer. So I walked right out. That was last year. Today I had an errand in the area and wanted some chicken so I gave it another chance but this time I did the drive thru. The menu board was easy to read , speakers worked perfectly , and food came out to about $50. It was for a bucket of fried chicken, 2 larger sides , 4 muffins and some sauces. The food was all 5 stars but the Mac n cheese. I've never met a 5 star Mac n cheese yet. I will def. eat Waldo's chicken again.

To go CHICKEN & BISCUITS with beak burner dry rub

This was the most basic and flavorless chicken and biscuits I have ever had. I went through the drive through so I don't know what it looks like inside. The drive through process was simple and easy. I ordered the Chicken and Biscuits for $7.99. It comes with 4 biscuits and shredded up chicken pieces. A customer is able to choose what sauce or dry rub comes with it. I pulled up to the window and was barely greeted but the young man was ready to take payment. The food came out quickly. The chicken was cooked well but had no flavor. There were very few pieces of shredded chicken. I asked for the beak burner dry rub. It was in a small container on the side not covered onto the chicken. The biscuits barely tasted like cheddar biscuits. A far cry from what I believe a cheddar biscuit is supposed to taste like. Definitely not worth the price. I will not be going back.

I know, I know....I should try the rotisserie but honestly, nothing beats a good, crunchy chicken sammy, so on my first time visiting, I went straight to the top (of the menu) and ordered The OG. It has always been my opinion that a chicken thigh is one of the best parts of a bird and The OG doesn't disappoint. I ordered the sammy sans mayo with slaw on the side and wow was I impressed with the meal. The slaw isn't uber wet and has a nice semi sweet flavor. And the pickles on the sammy are a nice bonus (natch). I did the drive thru thing as I was on my way to Trivia but definitely would dine in next time (service is a bit slow at the drive thru). Beer is also free tomorrow! IYKYK

The chewable ice, the sauces, the customer service, and the decor?!?! I loved it all, especially the chicken sandwiches! Oh, plus huge wedge fries, those are my favorite! I will absolutely be back in the future.

First timer eating Waldo's chicken. This restaurant is a great local spot in the Aurora Southlands mall area. It's very well priced and all the food is wonderfully seasoned. All the sauces are excellent each one unique and true to its taste. Did a curbside order & they were prompt and delivered right on time. Highlights of our meal were the howl chicken sandwich, the onion rings 10/10 crispy and delicious. Cheddar biscuits were also a great addition to our meal. Waldos is a great local alternative to fast food meals, inexpensive and a great option for a weeknight meal. If you live in the area this a great spot to hangout and enjoy a great meal, if you're in the area shopping around check em out! Definitely will be back when those chicken cravings hit. Pro tip: Majority of the sandwiches are made with thigh meat, for my taste it's juicy tender all the yummy things. If you're not into it, I'm sure they have an alternative option for your taste.

Ok exceeded expectations that's for sure!! We stopped by for dinner with our kid. He was excited to sit in the room with the crane machine and pinball machine. My husband ordered for us while we played (or said goodbye to a few dollars). He had been eyeing the chicken tenders bucket but said the staff convinced him to get a plate so he could try a little of everything! Fried chicken, fries, cheddar biscuit, potato wedges. It was a nice variety and all quite tasty!! Our son enjoyed the Mac n cheese and fruit punch (kids menu for the win!). The staff was very nice and friendly -- they bring the food right to you!

A nice surprise for a casual night out! We were greeted promptly by the staff. This is fast casual style restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. For our first time here, we got free cheddar biscuits! They were fresh and wonderful. The chicken tenders were delicious-lightly breaded, and we liked the signature sauce. Servings aren't huge, but the quality is high. The fries were more shoestring size but were fresh. My husband got the sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese. Both were great! I really liked the pickles too. Plenty of seating and a great place for a casual bite to eat.

First, wife is a vegetarian and they had no mains other than Mac and cheese for her. She ordered the salad without chicken which was $25. They knocked it down to $22 after I asked why it was the same price without meat, which still seemed like a lot for a salad with no protein. Kids' Mac and cheese was not the same receipe as last time; it was a different noodle and seemed to be needing some salt as it was pretty bland. Unlike our last visit they did not include an ice cream for dessert. My fried chicken and waffles was ok--the breading was a bit soggy though and I much preferred the Nashville hot chicken from my last visit. If I'm being honest this was closer to a 2 star experience, but with how good the last visit was, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt they maybe tonight they were just off. That said--need one vegetarian entree for the menu.

Ordered a small combo with ends and perfectly cooked catfish fillets/tenders. Sweet potatoes casserole was very tasty. I am not a greens expert but these were bitter. My only big concern was the extra utility charge on the bill. I did not see it until I got nome, a little late to discuss.. On a $102.00 bill it was just shy of $18.00. I would definitely recommend but be aware of the extra charge. Restaurant/Service fee is the designation on the bill, listed as 18.5% and "is not a tip" per bill. Music was great. Since then, I've returned three times--and I plan on coming back again. My favorite order is the catfish sandwich it comes with a side. The fish comes out a beautiful golden color and is served with lettuce, tomato, onion, tartar sauce, and hot sauce. The catfish is battered perfectly--crispy, flavorful, and not overly salty. Every bite was delicious. The menu offers a great variety of soul food favorites. I noticed greens, sweet potatoes, red beans and rice, shrimp, and several other comforting dishes. There was something for everyone. What really stands out is the customer service. Mr. Swirk always acknowledges customers when they walk in. Whether he's busy or not, he lets you know he'll be with you shortly or takes your order right away. That personal touch makes you feel welcome. As for the atmosphere, it's a good old-fashioned soul food dive--the kind of place where the focus is on great food, friendly service, and feeling at home.
