This Walmart is kind of tiny. All the aisles are pretty cramped and it seems as though they always have boxes and crates of stuff randomly strewn about the store which makes it seem even more claustrophobic. Since the store is smaller than it's counterparts it has less of a selection. It also seems as if the people who do the stocking of items at this location are slow in performing their jobs. Maybe if they unpacked some of those boxes that are lying around the shelves would have more merchandise on them. Also, the shelves always seem to be lacking items or have items that have been opened and placed back in their original places. Fail. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! If I could give them ZERO stars I would. However I called prior to coming into the store for a return with a coupon I used. I was waiting 15 mins on the phone, when they picked up they HUNG UP on me. I called back the store asking for a manager, I was transferred 2 times and spoke to Gloria (One of the lead supervisor) she said I will get my FULL refund plus my coupon back. However I got to the store my FULL refund was declined. So the lady at customer service called for help and NO ONE CAME TO HELP HER AFTER 25 mins. Then another lady came and the person also waiting in line told her "You should help that lady on the side first".... referring to "Me" and the lady starred at me and helped the lady instead. But I was ok waiting even longer. So 35 mins later... another lady came name "Johnette" came to help. So I explained what happen and her ATTITUDE SUCKED. She was no help, she basically told me to go back to the store where I purchased my item and go to the exact register and tell the employee to give back my coupon and refund. Then on top of that Johnette raised her voice at her coworker plus me and said "Why are we arguing " then she threw the money and my receipt hard on the table, then basically told me HERE and get out. NEVER EVER SHOPPING HERE! They need more training in store front and throughout the entire store. Don't make it an excuse it's the HOLIDAYS or we are SHORT STAFFED. Always busy..... But good selection of stuff. Especially clothing at least compared to the kunia walmart. One thing I can't stand is if you want to buy anything from the makeup,skincare isle...even mens items like razors shave cream etc needs to be paid for THERE. There's literally a cash register there with a sign that says any items from this area needs to be purchased here. So even if I just want a $1 elf eyeliner I need to run my card separate from all other items. And each time I've had to pay for something there the cashier is always doing something in the isle or theres a line. It's just inconvenient. I get people steal but anything else in the store can be stolen so why can't we just purchase it normally. Also, if you bring in a oversized bag or backpack they require you to lock it up in a locker now. Once again because of theft. I get it but how much are you going to inconvenience your customers. Like any walmart, this one is crowded and unorganized. The employees don't know anything. My husband asked one working in the baby are if they sold co-sleeper bassinets and she said she didn't know what that was, but we should try Toys R Us since it was close by. We also came here for a cube organizer and we realized it was a little cheaper on their website so we asked another employee if they price matched and she said she didn't know and walked away to go to McDonald's. Lastly, we ordered something online for store pick up and when we asked where to go they told us Customer Service. When we got to customer service, they told us we had to go to the back of the store by electronics to pick up our item. Just get your crap together and train your employees to be more helpful and educated. There's a reason why walmart in general has a bad reputation. Took the phone back to Walmart, and asked for a REFUND. Door guard said that Hawaii does it different then the United States. They don't realize Hawaii is a state in the US. Apparently they think all Hawaiians are criminals. This Walmart is a hot or miss. Today however was a miss. We went to the jewelry department (5/13/18) in hopes to buy a new battery for my car alarm. Associate, Remedisio (?) an older Filipino lady clearly saw us standing there at the register. When just seconds ago she was helping and chatting w/ a co worker of hers who just got off her shift. Anyways, I finally asked, "Are you open?" And she said, "why, do you need help?" Wtf? What do you think ? Smh... seriously, these people need to take basic 101 on How To Give Simple Basic Customer Service. No smile and no eye contact. Was she upset because she has to work on Mother's Day? Walmart you need to test and quiz your employees on the products you sell. Your employees knowledge of your products is pathetic! I asked 3-4 different employees about the same product in their section and none of them could give a correct answer or tell me where the item is located in your store??? WTH??? I even had to prove to them that Walmart carries the item I was looking for by pulling out my phone to prove it to them?!?!!! WTH??? As a big corporate company it's a BIG shame that you don't educate or train your employees with the correct product knowledge that they need to do their jobs correctly. This Walmart is always packed with people. Come here at 1am and it's still busy. I have really bad anxiety, even before I got pregnant, so I knew coming here was going to be stressful. If you do have anxiety around people, I suggest taking a few breathing exercises, bringing a friend or 2 and bracing yourself for customer impact. Stopping to look to find something is not ideal at this Walmart. To many people walking in front of you or behind you. Customers get annoyed trying to drive their cart around you. My suggestion is to turn in the middle of the aisles with the display areas and look instead of down the main aisles. As I continued to grocery shop I realized I became so faint to the point where I felt like I was going to pass out at any moment. I couldn't go back home since I was really low on food and I knew because of my pregnancy the dizziness was not going away any time soon. I looked over to the electric carts to see if any of them were available. One was. When I sat on it, it beeped for low battery. The person who worked there looked at me and said, "Yeah, sorry, it doesn't work." I looked down at the extension cord that was attached to the cart that lay next to it on the floor. "That's because it's low on battery and you haven't plugged it in.." I thought to myself. I had worked in retail long enough to know how these electric carts worked. I wasn't about to do their job and plug it in for them just so someone else could use it. Sounds selfish but I would think the next customer would prompt them or even yell at them to do their job. I decided to go over to McDonald's and get some food hoping that would help the dizziness. Always busy. Mostly crowded with parents and children. All kids running around popped up on a sugar high and a bunch of those famous red happy meal boxes sat at almost every table. I'm assuming parents bring them here to make them happy. Kids get bored grocery shopping with parent's, so I don't doubt the parents bribe them with happy meals in trade for good behavior. The line is long but often quick. My food was piping hot but that's no surprise. Since the McDonald's is always busy they have to constantly make "fresh food". Microwaved then served instead of microwave and sit under a heating lamp. Never worked in the fast food industry so that's just a guess I have with how the food worked. When I sat up I still felt dizzy but alas there was a working electric cart available. I dreaded going onto it. I didn't look like the obvious customer that rode on these things. I wasn't overly big with a thyroid problem, wasn't old and didn't have any cast on my legs. But I knew in my mind that I was going to faint if I continued to walk and I needed food. So I sat in my cart and as I shopped stared down at all times from embarrassment. I also didn't want to catch any mean looks from anyone because I knew I would snap. Pregnancy hormones you know? First baby and I was 6 months and not looking very pregnant at all. Apparently that's normal. No one said anything to me. When I checked out 2 ladies helped me at the same register. One might of been training but I didn't know which one. Both overly friendly and not at all fake. With employees here, it's a hit or a miss. Most cashiers are friendly and most aisle employees didn't care for customers and acted like they weren't there. I got the name of one of the cashiers, Stephanie. It stood out to me though because we shared the same name. I felt bad for not remembering the other nice cashiers name. I was happy because I didn't get problems from riding my electric cart..or so I thought. I drove up to a tiny older women with short black hair that checked the receipt and items before I parked the cart and went home. She looked upset at me, raised an eyebrow and said, "Are you okay?.." It wasn't a concerned question but more of a sarcastic, "Why in the world are YOU in the cart?" I drove past her, parked the cart neatly and stood up to reveal my small baby bump. "I'm fine, just dizzy because of my PREGNANCY." I grabbed my things and walked out. Wish I had gotten her name. I will the next time I come to shop. I was already embarrassed as it was, but I wasn't going to continue pushing my body to the point of fainting in the store just to prove to a bitter women like herself that I was sick and faint. When backing out of the parking lot, look both ways. I know that the lanes are one way, and people have the arrows to point if they should enter one way or not, but a lot of people don't know how to drive and end up driving in the opposite direction the arrow is guiding. Also, there are always racers that park in the parking lot. Iv'e caught them drinkings and smoking. What makes it worse is younger employees come out to hang out with them. Store lacks customer service. Asked if they had an item I need for my child's school and kept being redirected to the same two departments. I told them the app says you have in stock but I guess pointing and walking away is great customer service, NOT!. Last guy I asked who probably came back from their break or something didn't even bother helping me at all but just point and tell me check around this area. The lines go by quickly because there are always enough cashiers available... that's really the only good thing I can think of though. There is a McDonald's inside it, but I've never gone because it always seems to be packed out. Their baby diapers run out of stock all the time, so we've often had to go elsewhere for our diapers. And their produce section is almost nonexistent. If you're trying to buy groceries, I wouldn't recommend going here simply because they don't have much besides an entire aisle of cookies and candies. They have a tiny frozen meats section that makes you wonder why it even exists, it's so useless. The main problem I have had multiple times is their online service, both for the photo center and for the store itself. I've made two photo center orders that got lost in the mail and had to be cancelled. And then when I ordered a portable shampooer online and chose to pick it up in store, online it said they had it available at the store and that it'd be ready for pick up in just a few short hours. But then I get an email a couple hours later saying the order had to be cancelled because this store didn't have it. Online it said it was in stock at this particular walmart. Confused, I go to this walmart and guess what I find on the shelf? The same shampooer I ordered online, the one they cancelled because they said they didn't have it. So now if I want to buy it, I have to pay 10 dollars more for it in the store than I would have if I'd purchased it online. In my mind, I'm thinking that maybe an employee decided not to bother going to get the shampooer off the shelf, so they just said they didn't have it to avoid doing the work? I don't know what's going on with this Walmart, but they clearly have an online order issue. read more

3pm on Friday on Dec 16. Called in to the Photo Center to ask a really simple question. Dude answered in an irritated tone and as I was middle of my opening sentence in my question, I got hung up on. Figured, no problem, maybe i'm just assuming he was in a bad mood, maybe dude accidentally pressed the wrong button and hung up on me. So I called back. This time a woman answered the phone, pleasant tone this time, she told me to hold and I was like "ok". I waited for 20 mins. Heard mild convo and muffled noises in the background. Could make out some light laughter and talking. I got tired of waiting so I hung up. Now Im a little irritated. Called back a third time, waited to get patched thru... no answer. Waited 5 mins again, called again, This time then operator sounded irritated and said they are not answering and tried to patch me thru again,... again, no answer. In Store Pick up today...bull crap. Found a fan online for sale I wanted, awesome, see they have it for pick up in store today, awesome! Think to myself whelp since it's already 20 minutes out of my way I'll go ahead and order other things I need. Place my order EARLY in the morning, "wait for your email". Receive my email noting not that my products are ready but that they will not be ready until -estimated- tomorrow. Walmart, tomorrow doesn't work for me. Give my order a couple hours just in case it was a mistake and it goes through, nope. Cancel order and decide to go to store anyway. Find all my stuff, surprise not on sale and prices jacked up almost double as online. Think to myself, price match; head to the register quite excited to find everything (and more) I needed but still wishing the in store pick up had worked cause my kids were super not happy about shopping. Hello not so friendly cashier I'd like to price match from online..."oh we don't do that you have to order it online for IN STORE PICK UP". At this moment I'm thinking "you're shitting me". This Walmart is the best one I've been to in Hawaii. There's lots of parking and the store is clean and well organized. The greeter is friendly and acts like she really cares. She wipes down the shopping carts during her spare time and once guarded my cart for me while I used the rest room. (I didn't even ask her to.) In addition to better prices than other stores, they have American Savings Bank and Mc Donald's right there in the store. Sometimes I get grossed out by stereotyped examples of the "People of Walmart," but in spite of that, this place gets my vote as one of my favorite one stop shopping spots. (It's almost as good as the Hawaii Kai Cost Co!) read more

I just want to personally thank KAINOA for all his help yesterday! He went above and beyond to help us out. My son's brand new christmas bike got stolen so we wanted to find the same one to replace it with. KAINOA was able to look in their warehouse and find the same bike in its box! Wal-Mart does free bike assembly, but unfortunately the guy that assembles bikes was leaving for the day. We were fine with that. He was able to ask his manager if we could pay for the bike, have them assemble it, and pick it up the next day. I felt bad for putting him through so much trouble, but he was awesome! Closest Walmart to where I work and live. Although it's convenient I'm just not gonna be coming back to this location anymore. The short older Filipino lady who stands at the exit door racial profiles customers walking out by grabbing their receipt and holding their wagons and will just blurt out numbers and then treat customers as if they're stealing because she says a number but the receipt count is different. She also accused my patient of stealing the black/white stripe bags that had his items in, he clearly brought he bags in. I have reported her at least 3 times to different managers and all they'll say is oh we're sorry we'll look into it and nothing ever changes. So if they want a worker who racial profiles people and don't do anything then I better go to another location although it's a drive. How do I know she racial profiles people? When I go in with my other half who's Filipino or my Filipino clients she jus waves us and says god bless, when I go in with others that's when she looks at all our items I've witnessed her do it to other customers also. read more

The employees suck. especially the cashiers and supervisors. I went in to buy some alcohol product for a party I was having. I was shopping with my 20 yr old cousin. The first cashier refused to sell it to me just because she was standing next to me. Fine so I have her go outside, and I went to purchase it at another register the tattle telling ASSociate went to tell the supervisor. Who then tells me I could not buy the product. This was such BullShit. I asked her if a mom is with her kid, you would not sell it either. Her response was, " that's different." That is what I call Discrimination!!! Who gave these employees the right to past judgement and to make these assumptions! I don't feel as if I need to explain why I should buy the product or justify my purchases to them, it is really none of their F---king business! And the sucky part was the first cashier did not even check my ID, I am 40 and there is no policy that says people standing next to you have to be over any age. My cousin wasn't even touching the alcohol, it was just cause she was by me. I am very disgusted with ignorant people who make judgement on how a person looks!!! Walmart employees need to learn not to discriminate and making up lame ass rules that are not consistent with their policy. On another occasion, my brother went in to buy this product called "wipe new" and the cashier tells him he needs a hunting license to purchase this product. WTH, this is just used to clean the discoloration of the glass on the headlight of a car. Why would you need a hunting license. He was able to purchase it at the Keamoku Walmart without any hassle. So LAME the employees at the Pearl City Walmart!!! I went the next day to purchase the prodUct and the cashier sold it to me without asking for a hunting license, I just had to purchase it in that dept. So inconsistent and So Lame!!! For starters, I'm not a Wal-Mart fan to begin with...I know people just love them for super cheap prices, but there's a lot of cr@p that comes with such low prices. When you decide to go to a Wal-Mart, you prepare yourself for low-level customer service to begin with, but my last visit to Pearl City location was horrendous...which says a lot since I wasn't expecting much in the first place. 1. I ordered prints online about 1.5 hours prior to my visit to the Photo Department. I paid a higher amount for the "1- Hour" prints. My confirmation email gave me a specific time to arrive. I stood in line and when I got to the cashier, the girl didn't even know where to look for my prints. She started asking this guy who was working behind the desk, who never made eye contact with me but blurted out, "Did you even check your email to see if it's ready?". Uh. Not everyone has a smart phone to check their emails on the go (I do, but why should I?). I paid for 1 hour prints and its been 1.5 hours. He NEVER looked at me, the CUSTOMER, but continued to do whatever he was doing and said "You have to come back in 2-3 hours". No apologies. No explanation. I asked the girl if I would have to pay the 1 hour prices and she said YES since I chose that online. How ridiculous. Puh-lease. Like I'm going to sit here for 2-3 hours. I understand that it's the holidays and I'm sure the photo department is SUPER busy. It's really not that. It's the customer service (or the lack of). 2. I asked a representative if they had any Gingerbread House kits left or where I could find them. The representative said that he wasn't sure and if they did have it, it would be somewhere in the store, just not in the clothing department. ....uh. I just had to laugh at that one. I went to this Walmart searching for mini-blinds. I went near the curtain rods where they are at most Walmart stores. There were those bamboo coverings but nothing else. I asked an employee if they carry the blinds I was looking for. He told me they would be in Hardware because they are considered a bathroom item. Or, they might be in stationary... Confused, I clarified what I was looking for and the employee repeated his first answer. So, off I went to hardware (nope, not there) and then to stationary (not there-no surprise). I asked another employee and she sharply told me that they are by the curtains across from fabric and crafts. I went there thinking maybe I missed something. Nope. She led me right back to the bamboo coverings for the lanai. If an employee would have just told me that they didn't know if they carried them or didn't understand what I was talking about I wouldn't have been frustrated. I have been to this Walmart at least 10x already since moving to Hawaii. I'm giving this 4 star review for the staff there. Everyone that works there seems to be helpful and quick when you need something and everyone is quick and friendly during check out. I haven't experienced any unnecessary waiting at this Walmart and I really appreciate that. Everyone that works at this Walmart is professional and approaches their job there with a high level of professionalism which isn't something you can say for all Walmart's nationwide. read more

I guess I never really paid any attention to it, but Walmart actually had a pretty nice selection of tropical fish!! They have some really nice fancy guppies that we got for our little pond. Also, the garden section is pretty impressive. I noticed they had a nice selection of hapuu and orchids!!! It really pays to keep your eyes open when shopping in Walmart!!! read more
