We were looking forward to some Chinese food so tried Wang Palace. Boy were we disappointed. We ordered the General Tso's chicken, and pork lo mein. Just ordered take out from Wang Palace being new to the area and safe to say I won't be going back anytime soon. We ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and Tangerine Chicken as entrees. The shrimp were about quarter sized, scrawny and tasted a bit past their sell-by date -- so much so that the spice was nonexistent. In my first bite of the Tangerine Chicken I either encountered a bone or a piece of cartilage that made the bite unchewable, my next bite, however did not redeem it in anyway, completely devoid of flavor, not crispy, no tangerine/orange to be found other than a sad peel included for presentation? The homemade egg rolls were utterly disgusting, finally, the pork fried rice and the lo mein were normal, nothing special, but normal. read more

Got an easy take out order - check online for a printable coupon - with hearty portions. The sesame chicken was a little overly saucy, but the Four Happy Seasons, which includes lots of different proteins and veggies, definitely delivered. I'll easily make this into two meals. This Rocky Hill restaurant is currently open for takeout only, but they have a comfortable looking dining room which I hope to visit once the pandemic ends. I had their food many years ago in Glastonbury and realized this is their new location right off I-91 on the Silas Deane Highway. Free on-site parking too. Very nice staff and they always have had my order as promised. Being New Year's Eve tonight, it was extremely busy but not once was the staff impatient with the large group of customers waiting to pick up their food. My food was hot and the containers were filled to the top with quality meats, good soup, and fresh veggies. The shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce was fragrant (scented my car in the nicest of ways!) and was served with a great mix of assorted vegetables, not just a lot of cabbage and celery. I found the large, tasty shrimp hit the spot. Kung Pao chicken included carrots and peanuts and their sauce was a good balance. More items are waiting for future discoveries! read more

I had an awful culinary experience here the other night. My egg drop soup tasted like it had been cooked in fish water. The waiter got really mad at me and asked one other guy at my table if his soup was ok. This other guy's nose is permanently stuffed... Then I ate my cashew chicken. Or tried to. It also tasted like fish! And the sauce was loose and runny. In an hour so we're my intestines. I had gurgles, eruptions, and blasts from below as the food I'd eaten went through my body like fish Miralax. I am not going to be in a rush to go back. read more

Stopped by for a recent lunch and found myself enjoying the food far more than I thought I would. The hot & sour soup is terrific. Very flavorful and I wanted to eat every last drop. The right mix of pepper and bitterness. The chicken dish I had was terrific too. Very hot and fresh without a sauce that overwhelmed the dish. Add some fresh vegetables and the dish was a winner. Wang Palace is awesome!! They have a dedicated section of their kitchen for making items gluten free. They even have gluten free soy sauce and they are very conscientious of other allergens as well if you let them know (peanuts, etc). Their portions are huge and always last me 2-3 meals. Their prices are pretty reasonable and the staff always welcomes me with a smile. They even have a restaurant section which appears very nice, although I admit I have only ever gotten take out. My biggest gripe with a lot of places is that the food is too greasy or soggy, but I have never had that problem here! Definitely recommend. read more

I only got take out, so I do not know much about the service of the restaurant. However, I can speak to the food I ordered, and there were some short comings. I got the General Tso Chicken with The Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. The chicken was FAR from all white meat and was fatty and chewy. The pork in the fried rice was also fatty and untrimmed. The egg roll comparatively was pretty good. Now I want it to be clear I'm not running from fatty foods, if I were I wouldn't have selected the items I had. That being said, I want to have the quality of white meat chicken and I don't want to feel the crunch of pork fat when I take a bite of the fried rice. If they cut the corner of white meat for their chicken on got lazy with their pork, what they do with their other meats is not a question I will likely not return to have answered. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We have had Wang Palace when we lived in Glastonbury and it was great. We tried the new location in rocky hill and it was an atrocious experience. I ordered the general tso chicken and when it came out it looked great. However, the chicken-which I'm not sure how you can actually call it that- was comprised of fat and cartilage and when I bit into it I can only describe it as biting into lukewarm jello. The small bits of "chicken" In the masses of fat were undercooked and still pink. We ordered in the restaurant and the food came out lukewarm and soggy. I question if it even made it to the fryer or if it's journey was to the microwave only. The fried rice tasted like it had been scraped off the burnt edges of a pan and, once again, reheated in the microwave. I ate NONE of this dinner as I had to spit the one bite I took out. The waiter never even asked how the meal was-just if I wanted it wrapped to go which I responded with no. He never offered to comp the meal and we paid $13.00 for something I wouldn't even feed my dog. Utterly disappointed and will never return. read more

Ordered takeout which we enjoyed in the comfort of our hotel room. They even have wine and beer available for take out at the moment (amazing). Yelpers you have let me down! We were bringing food to Grandma's and I chose this place because of number of stars but I was misled!! Nothing we got was particularly good. Everything was flavorless. Lo mein had noodles, very little chicken, and the occasional mushroom or scallion-that's it. Ditto for fried rice. We thought a chefs special would be safe: Pan fried prawns in "special salt". Um, no. No sauce, prawns were coated in flour (unexpected for pan-fried and poor mouth feel), the only vegetables were green peppers which we happen to despise, and the container was literally half full of iceberg lettuce. Never have I had a bad experience here. I would come here at least once a week as a kid and now as an adult it's still wonderful. I absolutely love the beef sticks and they have amazing house friend rice with shrimp and pork and beef and eggs. My mouth waters thinking about wang palace. So we have been trying to find a decent Chinese Restaurant East of the river and Wang Palace totally scored for us. We were so hungry and everything was so tasty that we scarfed it down before taking pictures.....Oops. We didn't eat in the restaurant we just picked up a Togo order. Although they do deliver to our area. So we go an order of 2 eggrolls they were very good seemed homemade. They weren't as crisp as I like them but hubby took awhile getting home so they might have steamed a little in the bag. For entrees we got a order of sliced Chicken in Garlic Sauce and this was better than our go to place in Rocky Hill. Chock full of fresh veggies and that delicious garlic sauce....Yum. We also got an order of Szechuan Beef which comes with steamed watercress. It was filled with good sized chunks of beef. Only grip was the sauce was very watery needed a touch of cornstarch to thicken it up. But the sauce was still mighty tasty drizzled over the pint of white rice that came with meals. All and all I think this will be our go-to place East of the river from now on...... Can't wait to try more of their tasty offerings!! read more

Sadly, after my last annoying experience, I will NEVER return! My family and I have been loyal customers for over 30 years and continued to visit monthly even though it's now takes us 40 minutes, round trip. On 12/9/21 I placed two separate takeout orders, one was a combo dinner and Crab Rangoon appetizer. As I was paying, I asked the man at the register if he could make sure we got everything. He assured me that the order was correct and since they tied such a tight knot in the bag, I couldn't check myself. I even asked "Are you sure the Crab Rangoon is in here?" and he said "Yes, everything you ordered is there". Well, 20 minutes later I arrived home and when I opened the bag there was no Crab Rangoon, which is my husband's favorite. I immediately called the restaurant and was told by the same man I met at the restaurant "Sorry, you can come back or I'll refund you for the crab rangoon." I responded by saying that due to the aggravation and the fact that I had specifically asked if the Crab Rangoon was in the bag, I thought it only fair that he refund the entire $22. He immediately replied "Oh no, I can't do that!" I explained that it was a 40 minute drive for me and we had been loyal customers for over 30 years. He laughed and repeated that he would refund me $7.25. He was extremely rude, didn't seem concerned about my inconvenience and obviously didn't care. To make matters even worse, it took a few weeks to get my refund. After such an annoying fiasco, Wang Palace has lost our business forever. I'm a massive Chinese food fanatic and I grew up in Glastonbury which might make me biased towards Wang Palace, but in all honesty I can say that Wang Palace has the best Chinese Food in New England. This is a bold statement, but I've moved around up and down the Northeast, I lived in Boston for a while and up in northern Massachusetts and quite frankly nothing compares. Wang Palace is impossible to beat. First off, if you eat in the resteraunt the service is second to none. The waiters have been there for years and they are extra speedy, diligent and always very nice. Second and most importantly, the food is top notch and it still has remained so to this day. Above all I reccomend the Sesame Chicken, but the Broccoli and Chicken is great as well. The soups are what you'd typically find in a chinese resteraunt (Hot & Sour, Wonton, and Egg Drop), but something about the Hot & Sour amazes me each time. This place is excellent and if you are even the slightest Chinese food fan, it is a must. read more

I'm conflicted. This used to be one of my standbys for cheap, tasty Chinese when I was looking for a nice meal but didn't have a ton of time. The lunch specials have always been tasty and the service has always been top-notch and very attentive. They also sometimes have rice noodle dishes on the menu that are a bit more Vietnamese or Thai in inspiration and those have always been really, really good. Unfortunately my last visit was disastrous. We waited and waited for our soup to come and I was praying that the guy wasn't going to bring out our entree's and forget our soup but that's just what happened. When we asked if we could please get our soup first he apologized and brought out the soup (it usually comes immediately after ordering) and our entrees went inevitably went under the heating lamps. When they came back out every thing was soggy and the rice had, literally, crusted over. We also had to get someone's attention for water refills a couple of times and we had to ask for tea which was unusual but not a big deal. Still weird. I will be tempted to come back because Wang Palace has been so good in the past but it's a shame this last visit was just really poor. read more

This place is a classic staple in Glastonbury--everyone has tried it and most people are loyal customers--including everyone in my family. They aren't known for their amazing Chinese food, they're known for their dependablity and familiarity. Also the food is reasonably priced. Wang Palace is a medium sized strip mall restaurant on Main Street in G'bury. The decor is outdated-but comfortable. They have the same 2 or 3 waiters/waitresses along with the two in-charge guys who work the register/bar--I like to call them Wang and Father Wang. The wait staff doesn't seem to speak perfect English but I've never seen them mess up an order in the last 10 years or so. They also never EVER mess up a take out order--quite an accomplishment. Wow. Super delicious egg rolls. They are unique, not just pork in there. They also tasted super fresh. We also enjoyed the l0 mein, fried rice, and dumplings. The dumpling were clearly homemade and we not as doughy as some usually are. All if the people working there were super friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Love this place for American Chinese and will definitely continue to pick up from here when I am in the Glastonbury area! What a great evening. 15 family and friends for dinner. They arrange to have us sit in a semi private room. I did make advance reservations. Everyone was happy with food choices. Someone got the Peking Duck with pancakes and sauce and raved about it ! The staff was very helpful and did a good job serving us even with the two small children. They brought over umbrellas for the kids, and placed them with the glass of milk ! The price was very reasonable. The food was hot when served. The waiter ended the evening with two large dishes of Icecream for all of us. We ended the evening with everyone reading the fortune cookies. Great night. read more
