Came to Golden China as a spur of the moment dinner idea and tbh I'm super disappointed…read more Located off Geer in the Turlock Town Center, Golden China serves typical no frills Chinese fare. The inside is decked out in lucky red and reminded me of those mom-n-pop Chinese restaurants of yore. There's a walk-up counter to place to-go orders. I ordered: Salt n pepper shrimp - I counted 14 head OFF shrimp with 60% onions, NO jalapenos for almost $17. The shrimp looked like the kind you find in a frozen bag at Costco - small and... shrimpy. I get this may be a bastardized version to appeal to the general demographic in Turlock, but I was not impressed. It's what made me write my review right away, I was so shocked by the small amount I got. Chicken chow mein - this was ordered at the counter for the SO after placing my original order over the phone. When he dug into it, it was 40% bean sprouts and barely any chicken, maybe 5 or 6 small pieces... Beef chow fun - same issue of overcompensating with hella bean sprouts. The beef wasn't velveted enough and a bit tough. Taste was fine. Chili oil spilled over in my to-go bag and didn't have much spice at all. All three entrees came in the leftover to-go sized boxes, totaling almost $50 after tax and tip. I understand inflation and all, but cannot justify returning due to the negative value for the amount of food received. It's unfortunate because the service is probably some of the best for a Chinese restaurant. Super friendly over the phone and just as friendly in-person. As Gordon Ramsay would say, "Damn. What a shame."

The restaurant is nestled in the cute downtown area of Hughson, their main street. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. We were there on a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, but the restaurant was packed with customers. The menu has an extensive selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes. I had the Bruce Li roll which had tempura shrimp topped with crab meat, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. I also 2 pieces of the Hamachi (yellowtail), miso soup, and spicy edamame. The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had - flavorful, definitely sushi grade, and I could tell that it also wasn't previously frozen due to the color and texture. The miso soup and the spicy edamame were well-seasoned and delicious. My nephew had a combination plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and chicken fried rice. One thing to note that was really nice is that the restaurant allows you to create your own combination plates, they're not set items with no substitutions. When our waitress brought my nephew's combo plate, the food looked freshly cooked and delicious! He ate every bite! If you're ever in Hughson, try the Hughson Asian Kitchen - the friendly staff and tasty food won't disappoint!

I visited Panda Express on December 16th between approximately 7:00 and 7:10 PM and had a very…read moredisappointing experience with an employee named Yaneath. From the beginning of the interaction, her demeanor was rude and unwelcoming. She avoided making eye contact, gave dismissive and unfriendly looks, and appeared visibly irritated while assisting me. When I politely asked for a sample, her response was rude, and she did not engage in any form of basic customer service or courtesy in solving my customer service request. There was no effort to be helpful, friendly, or professional, which made the interaction uncomfortable and unpleasant. Based on her behavior, it appeared that this type of conduct may not have been addressed previously. An employee who interacts with customers in this manner would typically have been corrected or coached. This concerning behavior leads me to think she has gotten away with this in the past. It was concerning to experience such a lack of accountability. Many people need jobs and would love a job at Panda Express and to be wasting a position for someone who does not take her customer service seriously needs to be addressed. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed to ensure better customer experiences in the future.
