Stopped in to the new WC Kitchen for Happy Hour yesterday! I was very impressed overall. They have done a great job updating the old Opa space (miss you Opa! ) to feel light and modern. Also loved the music they had playing- so fun! Perfect playlist for a night out. The owner of the restaurant was there and very attentive to everyone there- ensuring everyone had an excellent experience. The menu is very eclectic and at first glance I was not sure about it BUT after seeing dishes come out everything looked amazing! We stuck to the Happy Hour menu. The lavender drop was a very pretty drink but sweet (even when asked to be less sweet). The cauliflower bites were perfectly roasted and in a light sweet and spicy vinegar sauce. The spice balances the sweet well. We debated in the ceviche or the short rib wontons but went Roth wontons. Perfectly crisp exterior and stuffed with tender short rib accompanied by a soy vinegar sauce. I definitely want to come back and try more. read more

Very disappointing experience. I visited on Sunday evening (2/22) and was immediately greeted by a bartender who was visibly rude and unwelcoming. She had an unpleasant expression from the moment we walked in, which set the tone right away. My partner and I sat down and waited over 10 minutes without being acknowledged. The restaurant was not busy at all, there was only one table of patrons and one person at the bar so there was no clear reason for the lack of service. We were ready to order both food and drinks, but since no one came to take our order or even check in with us, we decided to leave. As we were exiting, I let the bartender know we would be leaving. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the situation, she gave me a dirty look and simply said, "Alright, bye." There was no sympathy or apology for the complete lack of service, as if they were entitled to our patronage and we were in the wrong for leaving. It was disappointing because we were genuinely looking forward to spending our evening there. Customer service makes a huge difference, and unfortunately this experience made us feel unwelcome and we question if we should even go back. For the record, our first visit was exceptional and the bartender Arturo provided excellent, attentive service and outstanding drinks. The return visit was very, very disappointing. read more

I ordered take out. Seafood pasta and short rib wontons. Short rib wontons were good and I enjoyed the dipping sauce that comes with it. The seafood pasta was too heavy on the cheese pretty much overpowering the seafood pasta. Prices are high of course and the portions quite small. I'd probably go there for happy hour. read more

Arrived on Saturday, wasn't too busy. We decided to sit at bar rather than take a table. Live music was about to happen so we were excited for that...mostly went downhill from there. Bar service was marginal, they forgot what we ordered and asks us twice before we got our drinks, we ordered an appetizer, the Wontons, yikes, they were terrible...way over fried, a few specks of the steak that was supposed to be in them. We ordered three more plates, the pear salad (best thing we had) the ceviche (totally bland) and the steak curry with basmati rice (tasted okay but again I had to search for the steak and dish was advertised with asparagus which was also MIA). Overall the service was poor and the food was mediocre with very small portion, and finally with the cost $$$ it was definitely NOT worth it! Do better! read more

I came here for the first time this afternoon for happy hour with a friend and we really enjoyed the experience. The cocktails were really good (highly recommend the litchi mocktail with vodka!) and we shared the cauliflower which was delicious and a great portion for the price. Place just opened a week ago and we got the chance to talk with the owners while we tried all the cocktails on the menu (literally), and it was a magical experience. I hate to give a new place a bad review but I really can't help it. Everything was just so bad. Service was slow and there weren't even many people in there. The food was overpriced, very small portions, and tasted bland and/or old and soggy. The salad was not edible because all I could taste was vinegar. What a lovely addition to the WC restaurant scene. My husband and I have visited at least a half dozen times now and get something different each time. So far, the lobster risotto has been a standout, but everything we've tried has been delicious. The bar program is excellent, and the entire staff is particularly welcoming. The interior has been redone in a much brighter way than Opa used to be, and the floor-to-ceiling windows are typically open on nice days to let in the breeze. So glad this spot opened up! read more

We were seated and ordered martinis which took 20 minutes to arrive. I can see why since the bartender was periodically making drinks, serving food, cleaning up tables, and seating people. The martinis arrived in champagne glasses rather than traditional martini glasses even though we had seen martini glasses at the bar. I asked the server why our martinis were served in champagne glasses and she said they had run out of martini glasses. Not sure this was case as we did not see a lot of martinis and the restaurant was not full. The champagne glasses were only half filled which gave the impression of a very samll martini. Need smaller glasses or bigger martinis. After the drinks we ordered a tomato and mozzarella salad whch was fine but lacked seasoning so it was somewhat flavorless. The dinner we ordered took forever to arrive. The waitress apologized for the long wait. I had the salmon which was absolutely excellent as were the accompanying vegetables. Also on the plate were garlic mashed potatoes which were only so so. A very different version and taste. My wife ordered the fried chicken which consisted of one piece of pounded out chicken of an unknown body part. The chicken was burned on the bottom which gave it a funny taste. The dish was served with a gigantic portion of french fries. The plate lacked any type of color as there was no color to offset the brown chicken and fries. A woman who I assume is one of owners sat at a dinner table in the back of the restaurant with two computers open and papers on the table. I found it odd that she would be doing office work at a table inside the restaurant whille dinner was being served. The restaurant has not been open for a long time so maybe things will improve. I hope they make it as the interior and atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. read more

Tried WC Kitchen & Bar for the first and had a great experience! The interior was renovated and looks fantastic, all the windows were open, great music, and most important the service & food! Husband at the orange chicken (new) and I had the chicken Marsala sandwich (out of my comfort zone, but delicious) with fries (cooked & seasoned so well)! There are a few growing pains that should work themselves out with a little more time. The food was very good. We had oysters, the poke bowl, and the niçoise salad. All were fresh and simply prepared. Service was a bit slow but it appeared to be only 1 waitress working. We will give it a few months to work out the kinks but we will be back. We were super excited to go here as the menu looked good with Indian and Asian fusion. . The food is horrible and an insult to Indian cuisine/fusion and the service is non existent. The butter chicken tacos are mini naans from Costco with some dry chicken breast on it (minus the butter chicken sauce lol) , the Seabass was so fishy and not fresh. They have not done any changes to the ambiance except changing the logo and feels dated. Being a "fine dining" spot charging Walnut Creek prices, but using paper table covers, I mean seriously?! Good fusion concept but really poor execution. They need to make serious changes to food quality and service if they want to last. read more

We were excited to try this new spot, but unfortunately, it fell short across the board. Truffle fry basket - these are thick-cut (I personally prefer a thinner, crispier fry) but more importantly they lacked the flavor-they didn't taste like truffle at all. Also the portion was surprisingly small for the price. Cauliflower appetizer - unanimous miss for our party. The texture was soggy and unappetizing, and even if it had been crispy, the seasoning was unbalanced. Each of us took a single bite before setting the plate aside. Chicken tikka sandwich - the best of the three items we ordered, but that's not saying much. We didn't even eat half of it, and it is not an item I would come back for or recommend. The sauce also was yellow and I would describe it as more of curry vs the rich, reddish orange that I expect when ordering Tikka. On top of the underwhelming food, when our server brought the check, he glanced at our nearly untouched plates (full plate of cauliflower, 3/4 of sandwich, half basket of fries) and made no acknowledgment. Instead, he handed us the bill with a cheerful "Glad everything was excellent!" despite there being no indication from us (verbally or visually) that it was. It left the impression that feedback, even nonverbal, wasn't welcomed or noticed. I don't feel good about writing this review for a newly opened local small business, but there wasn't a single part of the experience that felt positive enough to not want others to be aware before dining there. We ordered the chicken tikka flatbread and the butter chicken tacos, but both used the same bland, basic chicken with identical seasoning--neither dish came close to resembling and Indian flavor. I've been meaning to write this review for some time now. But I took my mom and uncle here a few months ago for our first time. We all ordered 3 different entrees and 3 different drinks and shared an appetizer and also couldn't forget about the delish warm cookie dessert. You do have to wait a lil for it but its worth it! And we all loved our dishes and drinks! Everything had such great flavor to it! My uncle was impressed and he's hard to please sometimes lol. And the owners are very engaging with their customers which is really nice to see these days. I was totally digging the vibe there. When I was there a few months ago, only certain things were purple. Which I loved already. Including the bathroom basins, which you should check out both of them lol. They're both really pretty for being a basin. But they were going to add a lot more purple to this restaurant! And the bar was beautiful too! I can't wait to go back there and see what more they've done to the place! read more
