I had the huevos racheros and also tried the french toast. To be blunt: the French toast was not good at all. Come to my house for that. I don't understand the concept of huevos rancheros served as glop--am I uncultured? In Wilmington, CA, I found this hole in the wall Mexican place with huevos rancheros servied with perfect eggs, layered in a beautiful presentation and delicious. I must be from another rancho. Everytime I come into the city I always make it an effort to come to eat at this place. The hours are only up to 2:00pm, it has become a favorite stop whenever I'm in Albuquerque, or Farmington. Everytime I've stopped by I always get great service from the hostess to the waiters/waitresses. My favorite is off of Nanas Value Menu, it's called a 3 egg omelet. It comes with hash browns, toast (however they're more than happy to switch that out with a tortilla, you just need to request it), a drink, and most of all green/red chile, for all under $10. The green chile is my favorite, the red chile has a Smokey taste to it, but it's still great, I always go with Christmas, and tell them to pile the Chile on (with no cheese). I've been ordering it that way since I first discovered Wecks years ago, they serve lunch as well so if you're feeling brunch it'll be a great place to discover different entrees. Like most all Weck's the food is great! Good portions and not to much money. BUT, be prepared to be bombarded many multiple times by constant asking if you need anything and how is your meal? Normally this is not a problem but getting asked 6 or 7 times by different people is just to much! You simply can not enjoy your meal. Like I said the food and atmosphere are all good. But to much of a good thing can ruin a meal. If ts is not a problem for you then I highly recommend this Weck's. read more

I am a big fan of Weck's. I had been there a few times, but started going there a lot when another local favorite started raising their prices. I love the food, atmosphere and prices. I always get some variation of their papas bowl and a cup of their delicious coffee. I highly recommend Weck's and am always happy when I find a great local restaurant to support. My only complaint is that they don't have Free WiFi. I am a web developer and am always meeting with clients at various local restaurants and coffee shops around the city. If Weck's had Free WiFi, I would be there more often. That's just me though. UPDATE: Weck's DOES have Free Wi-Fi. I hope my clients like papas. read more

If I could give wecks a 2.5 I would. I have been in and out of ABQ for 4 years ago and I'm sad to say the green chile is declining. It used to be you could tell the difference between different wecks by how hot their green chile was. Now it seems to have become some kind of bland sauce out of a jar... You can even buy this at the registrar.., perhaps they should go back to making the green chile in house. We've been to this Weck's several times now, and I feel confident in giving it an A-OK rating. I usually stick with the basic breakfast of bacon and eggs, and I've not been disappointed. Hash browns are cooked to perfection! Everything else, good. Very good homemade salsa as well. When I tried having a sandwich, I was disappointed. Too much bread, not enough meat or condiment. Stick with the breakfast. The decor in this place is a little creepy, but the service is extremely attentive. Can be a bit much, but I'd rather than that the opposite. The place is also super clean, which I really appreciate. One last thing, if you like iced tea, it's awesome at Weck's. Can't drink it all? Ask for it to go and they'll hook you up with a sweet plastic cup you can use again and again. Great ice. read more

I wanted to dislike Weck's and I'm not sure why. I'm a somewhat new transplant and always thought of Weck's as a chain in a town with so many great little indy joints and diners. But they're two blocks from my house and I finally broke down and went. Glad I did. The decor is corporate kitsch and if you show up at the wrong time (10 am on a Saturday) you might wait a bit, but the food is excellent diner fair. The coffee is decent for this type of place and they keep your cup filled. The Huevos Rancheros, far as I'm concerned a classic NM breakfast, are done right, with properly cooked pintos, excellent tortillas and a green chili that usually has enough heat to work. Make sure they bring you some butter and use it on the tortillas. If the Huevos are not enough, the Green Chili Chicke Enchaladas, served flat, with two eggs (over easy, if you ask me) and remarkably light roasted chicken, should fill you up nicely. The Carne Adovada is pretty solid stuff, with a good version of red chili. I've had a pretty darn good green chili stew here as well. Service is generally good and fast. So call me a fan, now. The Lomas and San Mateo store is my regular stop, but the others I've tried are as good (that corporate thing, I guess). Worth a visit. read more

I heard this place was the bomb - but not in my opinion. I would rate it 2.5 stars if I could. That said. . . there are things to like. It's essentially diner food in a nicer environment. The wait staff is literally top shelf. I gave a star for that alone. Otherwise it would be a 1.5 star review because the food had good flavor but was greasy and I did in fact get sick later that day. Food is well prepared, portions are 'belly busting'. It is absolutely necessary to to visit this place just for the nostalgic diner feeling it gives you.
