Top Sirloin and Eggs

The epitome of a diner. We went for breakfast. Our meals were good and excellent friendly service.

Wendy's Place is the best breakfast diner!!! I am normally not a breakfast person, but everything I had here was so delicious. They are located in downtown El Segundo and it is a small establishment. You really can't go wrong with any item you get here. There are many options to choose from and something for everyone. Instagram: @jessgoeat

Great food, pretty good service and full bellies! We were heading to a nearby restaurant when my breakfast date smelled the food from this restaurant. It was so enticing, we changed our plans. This cute diner had our food out relatively fast and everything was so delicious. We enjoyed omelettes, French toast and very tasty potatoes. The coffee was so good!!! We'll definitely be back.

Where do all the locals go? Tooling around El Segundo I find Wendy's place to have myself some breakfast. Located on grand Avenue off Main Street is Wendy's place. A very cute little unassuming restaurant filled with local folk. The menu has got to be a blast from the past. The equipment such as their milkshake machine is vintage My waitress made sure my coffee cup was always filled and delivered the food S soon as the kitchen finished preparing the meal El Segundo is close to LAX so it is a place that's convenient for me to stop in and visit. I will definitely be back to Wendy's.

Best biscuit and gravy EVER!

WE LOVE Wendy's Place! This cozy diner is a feast for the eyes while you wait for your food, with walls adorned with posters and pictures from the '50s and '60s. The whole vibe is old-school, which feels refreshing compared to all the contemporary and chic brunch spots popping up lately. It's comforting to know places like this still exist in the South Bay, and we love visiting on Saturdays for their weekend special--biscuits and gravy! The biscuits are homemade and extra delicious with that rich gravy on the side. I enjoy all the dishes, but biscuits and gravy is definitely my favorite. My second favorite would have to be the chili omelette--just some authentic meat and bean chili smothered in a cheesy omelette. Nothing beats that for a nice morning brunch! The restaurant gets busy around noon, so I recommend arriving a bit early if you want to avoid waiting 30+ minutes. Overall, Wendy's Place is a true gem! PS. Bring cash or be ready to use your Zelle or Venmo. This place does not accept credit cards!

We loved this locally owned family diner. It had great old school character and warm, welcoming charm. The service was very friendly and helpful. Parking can be an issue during busy times. We had breakfast here and tried eggs Benedict and steak n eggs. Everything was very hearty and delicious. Cooked to perfection. We absolutely loved it. This restaurant accepts cash, Venmo or Zelle. No CC which for us was not a problem at all.

Cozy, charming, comfortable cafe/diner that will give you a nostalgic feeling for the 60s & 70s. In the realm of small, family owned diners, the selection is simple and food is good overall. Service is friendly and the patrons are from the immediate community. Seemed like most of the customers knew each other and the servers also knew them by name. Credit cards are not accepted but they will take cash, Venmo , Apple Pay or even a check. Nice to visit such a quaint restaurant.

It's Father's Day and the wait was bad at 9:30 am. Been waiting for over an Hour. Cash "ONLY"! They seat 3 customers at a 5-6 booth, not a good business decision. Customers lingering in dining area on laptops, totally uncalled for on busy days. Despite all the above this restaurant is a classic, Customer Service is great once you get in, food is fantastic, food gets prepared and delivered very quickly. April our Server was super nice, knowledgeable and helpful. As well as being very attentive.

The food here is soooo good! I'm from the Bay Area and am visiting and needed my pancake craving delt with so I decided on this place. And Oh My Gosh! Soooo good! I recommend the homestyle fries and pancakes! My husband loved the eggs Benedict. My sister loved the breakfast sandwich! It was a win for all of us . Service is amazing as well and the ambiance was great! Definitely old school Cafe style! Love it here!

Been going here every weekend for a while now. Best chicken fried steak in town. I really want to try something else there but its hard to switch it up.

A very good local South Bay country diner that is cash only. All diners to me are either the traditional retro diner or a country diner and this definitely counts as a country diner to me. It's fairly small on the inside so at busy times there may be a wait. Being a country diner their menu is more limited compared to some other diners but they have a lot of homey classics. Our server was very polite and everything we ordered came out pretty quickly. They don't have a dedicated parking lot but it's easy to find street parking or there is a parking structure on the same block with free parking, which is where we parked. Their coffee is very good and strong so I would recommend ordering that, I chose to start my meal with it. For our dishes, we ordered the Eggs Benedict and substituted a sausage patty instead of ham and the Pancake Special. The Eggs Benedict was actually very good and the sausage was a great addition. The eggs were cooked perfectly and overall it was a very good dish. The pancakes were also very nice and fluffy, and the bacon was perfectly crispy. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal even though I tend to avoid cash only places. Aside from that everything else was great and the pricing is fair so I would recommend it to anyone searching for a great breakfast or lunch option.

Food is ok, but they only take cash, and that means they not only cheat on taxes, they don't pay at all. Corrupt.

It pops up on Yelp as dog friendly, but......is it?

i don't think it is, because there is no outdoor seating area. also, the inside is very small.

The first thing I noticed about Manhattan Beach Post was the plants. Not because there were a few…read moreplants. Lots of restaurants have a few plants. These plants appeared to have union representation. They're everywhere. Hanging from things. Growing out of things. Quietly observing your meal. The whole place feels like someone built a really nice restaurant and then let nature move in as a long term tenant. The room hums. Not loudly. Not aggressively. Just enough. Glasses clink. People lean into conversations. Servers weave through the room carrying plates that look heavy enough to alter their center of gravity. Nobody seems rushed. Everybody seems busy. It's a difficult balance. The biscuits arrived first. Now, I'd heard about the biscuits. People talk about these biscuits the way fishermen talk about the one that got away. Slightly dramatic. A little emotional. Hard to verify. Turns out the stories were true. Warm bacon cheddar biscuits with maple butter. I took one bite and immediately understood why people order a second round. The outside has just enough structure to remind you it's baked. The inside is soft enough to make you wonder whether butter has secretly become a building material. We ordered another. Not because we needed another. Because apparently that's what happens here. The creamy polenta showed up next and felt like the culinary equivalent of a weighted blanket. Comforting. Smooth. Relaxed. The sort of dish that encourages you to slow down and stop checking your phone. The duck was one of my favorites. Lightly fried with crisp skin and tender meat, resting on white Italian beans and rosemary. It felt like something a French chef would cook after spending a weekend in the countryside and becoming briefly inspired by fresh air. At some point you stop evaluating food and simply nod in agreement with it. This was one of those moments. Dessert was equally dangerous. The olive oil cake arrived with strawberries and disappeared much faster than logic suggested it should. The cheesecake somehow managed to be rich and light at the same time, which feels like it should violate a law of physics somewhere. Service deserves its own mention. The whole team operates like a group project where everyone actually did their part. Plates appeared when they should. Water glasses mysteriously refilled themselves. Questions were answered without anyone making you feel like you should already know the answer. The chef's French influence shows up everywhere, but not in a showy way. Nothing feels complicated for the sake of being complicated. Everything feels like somebody spent a lot of time thinking about it so you wouldn't have to. By the end of the meal, I realized Manhattan Beach Post had done something difficult. It felt special without feeling serious. You can dress up. You can come casually. You can celebrate something important or absolutely nothing at all. Just order the biscuits. The plants already know you're going to.

Anyway, when we arrived, it was just after 10PM on a Friday night. Though the area was bustling, we were able to find easy street parking less than a block away. The restaurant was busy, but there were plenty of open tables. The place had a bit of the old diner type of vibe, but it was definitely more upscale and modern. We were greeted and seated right away. As we sat down, I saw some of the food being brought out and everything looked great. The menu was quite vast, so it took some time to decide. We decided to start out with the California Tots. They were a huge plate of crispy tots with cheese sauce, bacon and lots of other toppings. It was probably enough for us to share for dinner. However, I then had my mind set on the Tuna Manhattan, which was sort of a fancy tuna melt. The offered a regular tuna melt (off menu) if I preferred. The Tuna Manhattan was served on a bun with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a huge slice of avocado. It came with a side salad, fries, or soup. They also offered me some other sides I could substitute as well, such as onion rings or sweet potato fries. When I asked about the soup selection, they gave me four I could choose from. I ordered the French Onion. Anyway, the portions were generous and everything was delicious. It was also a great value for the amount and quality of food. The Kettle is open 24 hours. If you ever want late night (or anytime) eats in Manhattan Beach, I highly recommend The Kettle for a good solid meal.

But no worries, we love leftovers! Food is always so creative and wonderful.at Tin Roof. Although we no longer live in Manhattan, still one if our favorite restaurants. Food and service are stellar! We started with cocktails, and of course prepared by our favorite bartender / cocktail specialist extraordinaire, Clark. Off Your Head (Bloody Mary) and Ophella's White Sangria. Both were very tasty! Tin Roof has an excellent cocktail program as does their Simmzy's locations. We started out with Brussel Sprouts. Definitely a hit with the whole table. Tin Roof definitely has the best around, flavorful with a nice crunch, never soggy! We all ordered a variery of starters for our first course. Several had Ceasar Salads. Several had the Watermelon and Feta Salad. One had the Bloddy Mary Deviled Eggs, and another had the Fig; Pistashio, and Cottage Cheese Toast. Everyone loved what they ordered. We were full before our next courses arrived! Our server was Malcolm. He was very attentive even though it was an extremely busy afternoon since it was Father's Day. He was very helpful explaining some of the options only offered on today's menu. They offered a Bistro Burger (five out of six of us ordered!) and I wanted to know how different this burger was from their Simmzy's Burger (my personal favorite). He was spot on, explained it was smokey in flavor and quite different with the pretzel bun. It was so.good, served with fries (best shoestring fries!), onion rings, and piled so high you had to use a fork and knife to eat it! We left beyond full! Definitely we will be back soon!
