Honest Review, I genuinely ate here all throughout college and even post collegiate life while I work in Albany. The calzones and other food has been something we use to buy regularly and I couldn't haven't recommended it enough. I really loved this place. Over the place few months every visit I had here the food began to have slightly less size, food, or even quality. The worst part of it was that the orders have begun to not even be correct. A few weeks ago I ordered my usual calzone, got back to my apartment and it was nothing close to mine. 30 minutes later after going back to the store I get my actual calzone no harm no foul. The last two orders I've gotten calzones and had "extra" items put into it with no regard as to why. My calzones began having broccoli/spinach in it when I usually order cheese and meat. Tonight it was again my usual order and contained honestly almost a full raw onion sliced up in it (not ordered). I sadly just can not order here any more because of the repetitive mistakes I've noticed here over and over. It's very sad, I truly loved this place. Maybe one day it'll be back to its usual results. Until then, I won't be having pizza/calzones in the area. read more

Ordered this recently as not many other restaurants deliver past 12am. I got a buffalo chicken calzone and a slice of cheese pizza. Portion size was very large on both which was unexpected. Taste was average. If you are looking for late night food, this is decent option but there are far superior choices out there. read more

I'm normally not a pain in the butt, let me say this, I've always told customers where I work to order from here. I've NEVER been disappointed with my order. But when you order a specialty pizza with an addition of jalapeños, the guy on the phone repeats your order. Not once but twice! You pay extra. Your pizza comes and when you get it inside and it's NOTHING BUT JALAPEÑOS! There's a problem. So now, I attempt to order the same pizza. I explain the mishap, he apologizes and gives me my total. Now I've worked in a restaurant and I work in the service industry. I'm not asking for a free pizza, but ya wanna take $2-3.00 off!? No??? Well learn better customer service. Especially when I order from you 3x's a month or more if I'm at work. I'm not a Karen but I'm extremely disappointed. And working in the service industry I tip well. Quite disappointed with Westgate Pizza Bella. This is unfortunately not the first time our pizza has been delivered in such a way. We've also had issues with orders missing food and/or drinks OR never being delivered at all and then the pizzeria employees getting cranky when asked to re-deliver. They delivered an undercooked pizza and then told me they needed to have the WHOLE pizza back to give me a new fully cooked one. They have lost my business. Now I've ordered from them for 10 years and even my office orders from them on my recommendation. Now I would have just considered this a blip had the staff handled it differently. My issue is more with the handling then the messed up pizza. So I wait the 45 minutes for my pizza and the 3 of us grab slices and dig in only to realize it's not crispy as ordered and it's actually undercooked. So i call them and the guy tells me he can give me a $3 credit. I tell him I dont want a credit, I want another pizza the way I asked for it. So he says did you eat the pizza? I said only a little of it. This dude tells me he cannot give me another pizza because he needs the WHOLE pizza back in order to replace it. So i say to him there are 3 of us and we didnt know it was undercooked until we bit into it. Theres less then one slice missing. He tells me he cannot do anything because we ate some. No apology and sorsnt seem to worried that it was wrong or under cooked. I tell him that's not acceptable. His answer is "I have to speak to my manager I will call you back". "I promise I'll call you back" and hangs up. Now I'm hangry. We wait about 10 minutes with no call back and then get in the car and drive up to return the $20 pizza I cannot eat. It takes about 15 minutes to get there and still no call back. So we get there and the guy who hung up in me is there and SO IS THE MANAGER. With this stupid grin on his face (probably didnt expect to see us) he again tells me nothing can be done. The manager handles it better and offers to replace the pizza (what should have been the answer fron the start) but this original guy has lost his mind. He keeps talking over me, he insists there was nothing he could do and that they need the whole pizza back. He then goes on to tell me this is his dads place and they are trying to make money. Oh really, if that's the case you should have made sure my pizza was cooked before sending it to me. If making money is what's important, then you should make good on what the customer ordered. Good customer service could have fixed this and kept me as a customer but instead this guy chose to make an unrealistic request in order to fix the issue and then proceed to be a complete jerk in person. This should have been a simple fix but instead it became an ordeal. On a side note, I asked for half bacon and they didn't even bother to mention it was turkey bacon. My money will get spent elsewhere! read more

I have been ordering pizza from this place for 10 years and we had delivery order today, ordered crispy pizza and got saggy one. Called, Spoke to owners son and asked for new pizza since i cant consume this one since is basically raw, his answers were we we give you 3$ gift card for 24$ worth of pizza and then he said if we want new pizza we have to bring the old one back and he said he will have manager call us, so from delivery we ended up driving down, manager was standing right there and he never called in 15 min timeline so when owners son hang up on us they had no intensions of calling us back. Being my first time here, I asked the small hispanic girl at the register if she had any suggestions or if there was a signature dish. She looked at me confused and said no. I took it upon myself to find something that looked good and while I was telling her what I wanted she acted like I was being a major inconvenience to her. No greeting, no politeness, no thank you. She probably needed to get back to her phone. Who let her work the front with such poor customer service skills? The other hispanic gentleman at the front with bushy hair was very polite, and nice. I was going to review this place ages ago but I couldn't figure out what the heck it's name was! Oh yes I used to come here for a nice big slice all the time because I worked next door. Super great value for the money. They reliably have good veggie slices like broccoli cheese. Nothing really to write home about except that it is a quality, consistent pie and a fantastic value. So actually maybe that deserves 4 stars. I originally put 3 stars, but the consistency and value is great, at least for the slices. If they got expensive, I"d bump them down to 3 stars. read more

Pretty decent pizza! I ordered delivery from here when I was staying at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Albany in April. I found this place in a brochure provided at the front desk of the hotel. I had grabbed several restaurant brochures and found Pizza Bella to be preferable to the rest of the pizza restaurant brochures I perused. The delivery was quick and the pizza was really cheap - for a medium pizza (yes, I ate that all by myself; don't judge), I paid just $12! So, so, so good. The pizza itself was decent and I liked the toppings, though it was a little soggy and runny and the pizza was hard to hold up to eat. But I still finished it all and am happy to report that I had no food poisoning or upset stomach. In any case, I liked the delivery efficiency, the cheap price, and the choices. This pizza is the closest I've found to NYC pizza in this area. And so for that reason I will continue to frequent this pizza place. Yes, there is a weird doughy after flavor and yes, the sauce could have a little more flavor. But it is thin, crispy and has a good sauce to cheese ratio. There isn't marinara sauce clumped in the corners. The cheese doesn't separate from the sauce or crust. I don't get the feeling I'm eating a bread bowl pizza. Only redeeming thing about this place is that they deliver until 4 AM. We got a plain cheese delivered to our hotel at 1 AM and we're really excited until we tasted it. There was very little sauce, and the dough was gross. Maybe it was an off night, but I don't recommend ordering from there unless there's nothing else open. They know how to make pizza that is worth the amount that it is worth. The deals are insane and rival even the hugest corporation deals. Also when ordering delivery they are prompt. Westgate Pizza Bella is our go-to proprietor for proper pizza. Mrs. Nefarious and I had a hell of a time finding the right combination of good pizza with good delivery service or a few years. Sometimes, we'd hit on a good pie with unpredictable service, merely passable pies served up fast, or some unpleasant combination of both. However, Pizza Bella solved that problem for us. Their margarita pizza and other speciality pies are really good. This isn't Manhattan thin-crust, spongy upstate junk, or deep-dish style, it's its own thing, and we really dig it. My only advice to the kitchen is to add a pinch more salt to the dough; I find it picks up the flavor of the pies quite a bit, but that may be my own palette. The delivery estimates are usually frighteningly accurate, orders from the simple to big catering orders for our parties have been handled easily, and they've got some sort of online ordering now which has worked well so far. For some reason, whenever I call, i'm "Boss" or "Chief". I'm not sure what I've done to merit this adulation, but I do appreciate it. That and the coupons and menus they provide with every delivery; lots of quality here for a reasonable sum. read more

I ordered 2 calzones for pick up and received fantastic service and food. The calzones were massive and delicious. One calzone can easily be eaten as two meals. When I went in the pizza looked so amazing that I grabbed one. It was really yummy. The cashier was so kind and helpful. I ordered the coupon deal large pizza, 12 wings, soda beverage with Garlic knots for 19.99 and a side of cheese fries 3.99. This time the price on the menu I have it completely different than what's written on this receipt. 19.99 is the deal however I was charged 21.99. Didn't come with garlic knots although it's written in the receipt for 6. The deal says 12 wings but I didn't receive 12, I got 9 delivered. They weren't garlic parm, it was sitting in a pool of oil. They were chewy. Pizza was decent, different than the last time I order though. And the cheese fries was fries with like less than an oz of sprinkled cheese.. I'm really disappointed this time and aside. One bad experience doesn't ruin it for me, but now I'll just have to keep my options opened. The delivery should always be consistent. We ordered the house special, which included a large cheese pizza, with 6 garlic knots a 2 liter soda for the price 10.99! Thats such a deal! So cheap for so much food. Definitely the best Italian takeout in the Albany/University area, however it is not the best pizza takeout option. The staff and delivery guys are actually really nice and I am almost positive the people who deliver the food also make the food which is nice because they never mess up the order since they are familiar with the orders being delivered...something that is hard to come by with Albany delivery services. They have awesome calzones...they come in their own pizza box because they are so big and they do not skimp on cheese or other fillings. They also have awesome salads and the grilled chicken is really tasty. As mentioned, the pizza is not the best but it is definitely not awful. Aside from that the menu is pretty extensive and they have a good variety. I usually turn to Westgate as my go to when I have no preference in take-out because they are consistently yummy. read more
