Went here right at open & the vibe was amazing. Staff were friendly & food came out very quickly! We ordered some drinks (old fashioned & I forget the name of other but tequila based) to start and sat closely to the water. The view was amazing while we enjoyed some food as well! The venue was tucked away along the Northlake Avenue and the ship canal. It has a small view of the water from the inside, the outside views of the water and city were better. The service was short staffed but very nice and helpful when they were able to make it to our table. They compensated us by providing us with free chips and a creamy still sauce, which was yummy! The oysters on the menu were the hit (essentially market price was $5/oyster). We got the steamed Manila clams which were tasty but the broth was a little overly salty. The sea wolf bread was great crusty bread and the crushed fried potatoes were tastefully done. I wished they had had a better wine selection by the glass, but it looked like they had a good selection of cocktails. The location is wonderful and the staff gracious but beyond that the menu was very limited unless you love raw oysters, the prices were outrageous. A cocktail cost $19, wine by the small pour is $20-24,there is even a $50 whole chicken for example. We had the clams in a saffron broth which had very little taste, not surprising, it's saffron. They charged us $5 for the "hot sauce" for the raw oysters which tasted like lemon butter with two chili flakes in it. All this to say there is an automatic 22% gratuity added to the bill. So that $50 chicken is more like $65, can you say gouged? Glad we went, and although we live a block away, will never be back. read more

First, let me give it credit for providing reasonably good service, but that's it! We made the mistake of going in for dinner. Tge place was dimly lit. The menu ONLY has chicken fir entrees and oysters for appetizers. Thet are stupidly expensive: $48 for a chicken platter which barely feeds 2 people and it was a scrawny one made very spicy. Oysters were $18 for 6 pieces and quite average, with a little shells from shocking. Wine was $12 for a 6 oz glass with few selections. To top it off, we were charged a mandatory 22% service charges plus sales tax. Our chicken dinner cost a whopping $126. After we drove away from the restaurant, I had to stop by international district to buy some take out items to feed myself later. We noticed a roadside sign from a Mexican restaurant selling chicken dinner with a soda for $10.99. If you buy 2 orders, ut would still be less than $25. Do not go to Westward unless you want to throw money away. Nothing to recommend except its good service. PS its menu said the restaurant keeps ALL of the 22% service charges with zero going to staff. It asks you to tip them in addition. So you are paying way more than $48 for a chicken dinner. No wonder owner can go live in warm Baja while Seattle's u der freezing rains in winter. read more

Our server, Kira, seemed completely disengaged and uninterested in our table. She made no effort to converse with us and made us feel unwelcome. Then you have an unparalleled view of the skyline of Seattle, including the stunning sun as it hits the mirrored buildings when setting. I have heard amazing raves about this place so I went in wanting to like it! First, the parking is limited but just across the street there is a ton of parking in a back-in strip that parallels the road. It might be full in summer, but on a mid-week spring evening there was plenty of space close to the restaurant. The views toward Seattle downtown are gorgeous! Note if you are seated inside you don't see that though. The interior is simple but nice with some ocean theme items. I found it to be quite loud when only partly full which made conversation a little challenging but doable. The food was fine but not amazing and the prices are quite high. I also wished there were a few more choices. I didn't try the oysters or clams so maybe those would make it worth it? I was SO excited to finally try this place as I've heard great things and I love a great view. However, my experience was such a disappointment and we left with such a bad feeling. Let's start with the good... the oysters, drink, and views were great! Now for why I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone...Overpriced sub-par food and horrible service. Initially a host advised it would be an hour wait, but after around 10 min the line grew long and I noticed another host being very accommodating to all in line and were able to seat these parties quickly or provide a short wait (20/30 min). So when it was my turn the host that initially told me it would be an hour was able to seat me immediately. It made me wonder if I didn't stand back in line after observing what was happening with the other host how long we would've actually waited. Now when we got seated we noticed a server cleaning a table that was closer to the water. We asked the server if we could move to that table (we wanted to ask while she was clearing it before they assigned the table to another party). The server sent over the host who very seriously told us that it was against their policy to allow parties to move seats because once they allow this, other parties would want to move as well. She was apologetic and we understood. Towards the end of our meal we witnessed another party request the exact same thing we did. Keep in mind our situations were identical...these tables were close to each other, the ask was immediate, and it was no more busy when they asked vs when we asked. We saw that the server asked this same host if they could move tables and she casually and easily allowed it. The server came over and let them know it was OK to move. Their situation was so easy and casual and allowed whereas our situation was treated in such seriousness of strict "policy" and not allowed. Now the food...just dont do it. The asparagus were wilted and half of it was burnt. It had good flavor but the asparagus was not edible given the texture and that half of it was burnt. Thankfully they didn't charge us for this since we weren't able to eat it. The halibut was tasteless and definitely not worth the price! Also they charge for hot sauce....$4!! It was house made and good but tasted like something you could get from a bottle. We also waited for a while before this hot sauce was delivered to our table. Overall this experience was such a let down and not worth the views. If you want the same view but a better ambiance, better service, and better food, go to Bowriders right next door. And Westward, I suggest you treat all your guests with the same amount of respect. read more

I am a Seattle native and we try to bring guests to places that represent Seattle . We have been here twice in the last 3 weeks with various house guests and have been disappointed on both occasions. Brunch was haphazard with our drinks taking forever We ordered oysters which came out but no one presented them until after the fact. Tonight we gave it another try with an out of towner. The halibut was overcooked and the short ribs were inedible.. no meat and all gristle and fat. Our bill was $500. Granted we had wine and cocktails but I will not recommend this restaurant ever! Definitely book a reservation here at least a few days to a week in advance - they are popular and only offer outdoor patio seating with heaters. We had been trying to have a meal here since before the holidays and finally found a perfect warm sunny Sunday to have brunch here. It was absolutely ideal! From tasty drinks to uniquely decadent dessert options their menu is well rounded and the food is fresh and delicious. We started with coffee and pomegranate bellinis - I don't know that I've had a more memorable bellini in my history of brunching. The flavors were novel and blended well. The presentation with the flower on top made for a very pretty table accent to start our meal. We ended up sharing the crab roll and the salmon rillette. Both were fresh, delicious, and just right for brunch. The rose I had was also a nice complement to the meal. Lastly we shared the pumpkin panna cotta dessert - you simply cannot go wrong with this dish! I'm a picky panna cotta purveyor and this one was right up there with the best. The Pros: - the steamed clams with sausage were spicy and hearty and delicious. would highly recommend. - the fresh oysters were also great - our server was kind and knowledgeable The Cons: - late night happy hour apparently does not exist, despite the fact that it's plastered all over the website (see photo) - picking bones out of a slightly over cooked piece of salmon wasn't ideal - it wasn't very busy when we ate and two different items were forgotten/not rang in - seemed a bit overpriced. We know it's a nice restaurant and went into the night expecting to pay a lot, but it didn't feel like we got the level of food and experience one expects with prices like that. In the future I will probably just wait for the summer weather to return because the lakeside patio might make it worth it. read more

I came here with two friends for dinner to get some good oysters because one of them really wanted to give oysters a go. I heard good things about Westward so went for this. We split two types of oysters (got 6 total, 3 of each). One was slightly on the sweeter side and the other in the middle of sweet and briny. I was definitely not a fan. Just that raw feeling threw me off. Both my friends liked the oysters though so I think it's just my personal preference on this here. You then shared a plate of baked oysters and it was amazing. That garlic ancho butter went really well with the oyster itself. The perfect amount of spicy and just a good dish overall. I also got a side of seared zucchini and this was so so good! I don't think I've ever had zucchini cooked this way taste this good! The right amount of charring and It went perfectly well with the pistachio salsa verde on the side. The serving size for this was also fairly big and definitely worth the price. My friends also shared the Pacific Octopus and seemed to enjoy it. I would have expected more quantity in this though. Came here for a brunch reservation with a friend after a nearby outdoor barre class and before a tour of my wedding venue at the MV Skansonia. This particular friend and I are seafood OBSESSED, so we've been here before. I was curious how they've adapted during COVID, and in our experience everything was fantastic. Service was friendly and efficient; we were checked on multiple times without it feeling like hovering. We were also seated at a great table outside with a fantastic view of Lake Union. This was my ideal table because it was near the fire pit and also because I'm still opting to eat outdoors when I can given the circumstances. Our table also had a heat lamp overhead so we were warm the whole time. In the way of food, the menu we were given was slightly different than the one posted online. We decided to share the mimosa flight (one grapefruit juice carafe, one orange juice) since my friend is not a huge grapefruit person and I am. I did see lots of people ordering the tangerine Bellini, which seemed to be the drink of the day. It looked beautiful, garnished with some edible flowers they have in their garden. We enjoyed our mimosas and they went down nicely with our food orders: asparagus Benedict for her, halibut rillettes on English muffin for me. We both loved our food but just wished the portion size was a little bigger. We ended up ordering the chips and spicy clam dip plus two oyster shooters, and my friend got the chocolate marshmallow donut from General Porpoise. Everything was delicious and fresh.
