Fun people, great food :) We stopped by for the first time Sunday morning right as they opened. The troop working was fun, a bit sassy and having fun as they got psyched up for the day. All of the house made pastries looked good, but we had to try one of those famous cinnamon rolls, as well as croissant and biscuit sandwiches and coffees to go. The food definitely has that fresh, homemade taste. Both the biscuit and croissant were extremely flakey with fabulous flavor. And they don't skimp on the toppings, as my sandwich had 3 thick slices of bacon inside. The cinnamon roll was great, and so big we snacked a bit on it that day and finished it off on the next for breakfast. Great place, great location, and real food. Yum :) read more

After reviewing the menu and having special dietary needs we decided to come here for lunch. So glad I did the sandwich was delicious with just enough kick. I thought it was because of the pickles but found out from the staff that it was the vinegaette in the sprouts that had the extra spice. So nice to go somewhere and be able to have a gluten and dairy free meal. So delicious will have to try it for breakfast the next time we are in the area. read more

The breakfast sandwiches, smoothie, and fresh squeezed OJ were delicious! Service was also excellent! Got to say that we were disappointed to find out the big patio they had pictured on the website was closed, so we had to try squeezing onto the tiny deck in the back with our two dogs. Got our food to go and went across street to the park. Overall a great spot and will be missing those sandwiches! read more

The food here was amazing! We got the burrito, sunrise sandwich and waffle bites. The burrito was huge and their chipotle aioli made it so good. They put it on the side which allows you to put however much sauce you want on. I would highly recommend this place! read more

We enjoyed the Northwest waffles, these were very tasty. They are served with a delicious custard sauce and small amount of mixed berries and delicious berry whipped cream. My husband had a side of bacon with his, which was tasty but a little overcooked. We enjoyed our breakfast on the small deck on the back of the building, which overlooks the Depoe Bay Harbor. Left Coast Coffee is served here and it's really good coffee. The staff, possibly the owners were very friendly and welcoming. There's inside seating, 2 tables for 2 on the deck and seats at the end of the driveway for harbor view seating. We enjoyed our breakfast on the deck and will definitely return here again next time we're in Depoe Bay. read more

If you want a simple but completely delicious breakfast or lunch option with breakfast vibes, definitely check this place out. Great truly freshly squeezed oj, the bagel with smoked salmon and the scrambled egg with black brand and avocado were delicious!!! We were literally full until dinner. Nice atmosphere - super friendly service who pointed out baby seals in the water and the weather was great so we were able to sit outside watching the whale tours heading in and out. This was our first visit here, on Father's Day so super busy yet the friendly and efficient service made it feel like home. We were immediately greeted kindly by Joshua, he stated they may take a little more time to prepare our lunch , which we thought was respectful of our time. We decided to stay and placed our order. My husband chose the club type sandwich loaded with Ham, turkey and roast beef. A sandwich like he has never had before. Delicious, fresh and had potato chips on it!!! Unique and HUGE! Took half of it home. My mom and I had the small bites burger and added bacon which was the best bacon we have ever had! Melted cheese and a slight hickory flavor to the meat. Definitely will be coming back here. Wished we would have found it sooner than Today! Kudos to the chefs, the delightful young lady who served our food. The time went by so fast , we played cards that were sitting on our table and looked out to the sweet little Depoe Bay harbor. A great non traditional version of the BLT with lots of flavor, a bit of spice and color to top it off. The added herbs topped of the bacon just right. The server was kind and welcoming and the wait for food was minimal. The cost is common to coastal costs. I would go there again for sure. read more

Excellent little restaurant. Owners are super friendly. We went inside when it wasn't open but owners were gracious enough to accommodate us. What's unique about this place is that it provides a menu that is healthy , delicious and affordable in a coastal town like depoe bay. Coffee is fantastic. Kids loved their pancake. Update! Have been here multiple times since the previous review with my heart set on the Harborside sub. Since the first review, I went once on back on our way out of town, 11:30am, when it was finally lunch time, but (understandably) the wait time was over an hour so I had to walk away from my dream sandwich a third time. The next time we came back, they had done away with lunch entirely. Honestly, fully understandable, their breakfast is other worldly. TODAY?!?! It was back on the menu with no time constraints. Whales Bites Cafe is a unicorn among all of the places I have eaten at while on vacation, I'm talking about any vacation!  So quit browsing Yelp and go there!  The Smoky Salmon Melt with house smoked salmon and Tillamook cheese on crispy sourdough bread was so freaking delicious I inhaled the first half then had to force myself to slow down and savor the rest. Luckily the portion size was huge. No joke, I would eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day if I could.  The food was so good I stopped by again on my way out of town to grab breakfast to go (including something for the next morning as well). The Wild Salmon Bagel and Coral Reef Smoothie were fantastic, and the Sunrise Breakfast Burrito was ginormous! If I had spent more time in town, I would have tried everything on the menu. The cafe is super cute and spotless inside, and they are the only place in town with an outdoor patio right next to the bridge/water and a small deck up at the cafe to enjoy the harbor view. The owners, Julia and Josh, have a passion for both their food and their customers. Their thoughtfulness and attention to detail shows in every single thing that they do. Whale Bites is an adorable café with two friendly owners who provide great service, drinks, and food. The café is nestled next to Depoe Bay harbor with a gorgeous view of the harbor and bridge from the indoor or outdoor seating. My husband and I stopped in for a drink and ended up having breakfast there the next day. I got an Oregon Chai and my husband got the blue raspberry Italian soda. They were both good, which is surprising because the Italian soda was made with Red Bull, which I don't usually like. The Oregon Chai was perfectly creamy and sweet. Even my toddler son loved the chai! I got the breakfast burrito and my husband tried the biscuits and gravy. They weren't lying when they said the biscuits are whale sized! The biscuits and gravy comes with a hearty serving of gravy. It has a little bit too much herb for our taste, but that is just a preference. My breakfast burrito was made with freshly cooked bacon and sausage and accompanied by a delicious sauce. I would have liked a little more egg in the burrito and a little less meat, but I can't handle too much meat at once, which is just a personal preference. Everything is cooked to order, so it does take a little bit, but that just means that it arrives hot and fresh just for us! We just enjoyed the view and the good company while we waited. We would definitely visit again. Rating from F to A+++, I give it an A++. read more

My familhusband and I enjoy dropping by Whale Bites for breakfast (burrito), lunch (Reuben), and snacks (fresh baked goods). Their coffee is great and view of the harbor relaxing. This little gem is easy to miss because it is the last building SE of the Depoe Bay bridge. You are welcome to park in front of the Whale Museum (Carrie's Whale Watching Tours), which is just south of the cafe. If you drive past Whale Bites, turn around! Do NOT drive by this small blue gem in Depoe Bay and miss some of the tastiest food ever! It was charming and warm and the host made us feel wanted in the packed space. And THEN...the first bite of the special NW BLT was enchanting! The chef is doing some magic in the back and the flavors were exquisite! You guys....THEN we shared a waffle dish that was straight from heaven. Just insanely good! I don't even know how to describe the creme' cloud of goodness the apple waffle was served on...then sprinkled with real flower petals. I could cry right now! A great stop while passing through. I had the BLT and my husband had a breakfast sandwich. Both were amazing! I'd never had an egg on my BLT and it was amazing, especially with the sauce they use. Stopped in for breakfast. Wife and I split the breakfast burrito. We added ham and side order of hash browns. They cut the burrito in half for us and served separately which was nice. Plenty of food. Generous portion of egg, bacon, ham, and potatoes in the burrito. On the downside, burrito was not very hot when served. This was surprising since the menu warned to expect it would take awhile to cook. Biggest disappointments were the hash browns side and burrito had a fish taste. We suspected they cooked the potatoes in used fish oil? The hash brown was also a single frozen portion. We were expecting something more homemade and authentic. read more

I was allowed to get a cup of coffee and wait until the kitchen opened. I sat on the back deck overlooking the marina. Very nice place to set in the morning sun.
