This is one of my go to spots for happy hour. They have $6 small bites and select $6 drinks. I love the house old fashioned but my favorite drink is the guava gimlet. Delicious food and great service. We have had many celebrations at Whiskey Cake. Food has always been amazing and service has been on par. We did have an awesome issue on a reservation. I'd say whiskey cake is nice place for a weekend date night. Burgers are great, dessert And drinks. I've been avout 5-6 times this past year and have never had a bad experience, from the hosts at the front door, to the waitresses and bartenders. I visited San Antonio recently and enjoyed an impromptu lunch here. The ambiance was great, our server was awesome, and the food did not disappoint. We did all appetizers and dessert. The deviled eggs, brussel sprouts, and bacon were great and super tasty, but the fried green tomatoes were to die for. Made very unique with a nice piece of ham on top, topped with remoulade. The ham was off the bone abd sooo good. Then we finished with the whiskey cake, fluffy and moist and comes with ice cream and their house made whipped cream. Went here with my mom and sister for brunch on Sunday. They have a newish menu and we all decided to step away from our usual chicken and waffles with bloody Mary's and try new things. We ordered the corque madam, farmers breakfast, farmhouse Benedict, and the pesto deviled eggs. We also got the mimosa flight and a bottle for mimosas. The deviled eggs were amazing. Our server was the best EVER (Janice)!! Mom got the corque madam and didn't like it. She said it just wasn't for her. The salad was great that came on the side I got the farmer's breakfast and would recommend getting normal bacon if you're not into sweets and like it crunchy. The grits, potatoes and eggs were great! Next time I'll get normal biscuits and normal bacon. Sister got the Benedict. She likes the sauce - it was kind of tomato-ey and she liked it. She didn't eat much of it because of the same reason as my mom- nothing wrong with it, just not her thing. We will always be back though! Nice to try new things sometimes. read more

Dear Whiskey Cake, please come to my hood. Specifically a pad site at Belterra Village near Dripping Springs just west of Austin. Ya, my twitter war failed a year or so back. Prolly because I had used the tweet thang about 15 seconds before trying. Recently led a car club event all the way down to the shops and La Cantera from Austin so my car club peeps could experience WK. We left early winding thru the backroads towards San Antonio; spent a bit of time in Boerne checking out some exotic cars. That's where my initial contact started with WK SA. I called ahead to let them know I'd be bringing a large party. My advisory was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. Roughly an hour later we were walking in and led to the chef's table near the kitchen. Service was acceptable for our large group even providing separate checks. BTW, new GF along for the ride. We split a couple of things starting with the drop biscuits. Second encounter with this app having tried it at the Katy location. Always good bites. Next, might as well split an entree to save room for dessert! The OMG Burger ordered sans mustard was ridiculous. Nice touch that the kitchen cut the burger in half ahead of time. Then, the signature Whiskey Cake. Swore we would only eat half, yeah, didn't happen. Every diner was equally happy with the experience especially the ones that ordered dessert. Definitely get the Whiskey Cake! It was the highlight of our experience here. We almost didn't get it because we were so full from our meal but the waitress managed to convince us to split one. It comes with a bowl of their house-whipped vanilla cream on the side, which tasted like vanilla ice cream. We were eating every bite with a scoop of cream. Beware of the triple B threat: Buzzed, Bloated & Blessed. Plan on waiting a little while for your food but be prepared to scarf it down in seconds because it's THAT good. We took my son, and his girlfriend, here for their joint birthdays. We had the absolute best waiter, Dan the man. He interacted and "got" our jokes. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. The girls ordered burgers and the guys had the steaks. All fabulous! Appetizers and drinks were great. They are not your traditional appetizers. Whiskey Cake quickly became one of our favorite go-tos whenever we were craving a bite. No matter for lunch or dinner, this place has a welcoming and warm staff, great atmosphere, and the food is always delicious. We've been a number of times now and this evening were looking to get out of the house and enjoy an evening. Baby #2 is due any day, so having a dinner out with my husband and 4 year old was special for us. I made a reservation online using Open Table - such an easy process! We arrived on-time, but had to wait just a little due to how busy it was. We then made our way to our table and was delighted to see that Grayson would be our server (he was our server the first time we dined here). Our son is also named Greyson, so naturally he was excited to find out Grayson had the same name. I greatly appreciated how much Grayson entertained him since our son is learning social appropriateness (he's on the Autism Spectrum) and basic social skills. Regarding food - I love their non-alcoholic drink called the Hulk. It's a refreshing cucumber drink that makes me feel like I'm enjoying a cocktail. My husband went with his usual martini. Both were wonderful. Tonight we shared a few small plates: the misto (grilled vegetables) is our all-time favorite, and to try something new I ordered the goat cheese fondue and the 3 Little Pigs sliders. Greyson had the mac & cheese from their kids menu and enjoyed it, like usual. The sliders did come out a bit cold, but I had no problem putting them down. They were very good and enough food it could be a main. The veggies are always a hit and I really enjoyed the fondue (keep in mind it is goat cheese, which is a stronger cheese and therefore not for everyone). To cap off the night we got the Whiskey Cake to-go. It's their signature dessert and it took us this long to finally order it. And I have to say, it's a MUST ORDER every single time. So good and without it being overly sweet (despite the sauce and whipped cream). Will definitely make sure to order it from here on out! Overall, it's always a pleasure when we get to enjoy a night out at Whiskey Cake whether it's for lunch or dinner. Best service I've received so far in San Antonio. Me and my girlfriends decided to go to brunch and Whiskey Cake was a restaurant none of us had been to so, we were eager to try it. The vibe is industrial feeling but it was a large restaurant with a lot of seating. We all ordered the mimosa flight which was delicious and the manager told us that it was fresh squeezed juice which made the mimosa that much better. He made great recommendations, very attentive, made us feel really important. I had the OMG 2.0 burger with fries. Very good and filling. A Great Escape and Banana Hammock drink which were delicious and refreshing. We also ordered Duck wings as an appetizer. Let me just tell you, this place has been on my list to try for quite some time. They are always featured on SA Live or Texas Eats and i see why. The experience and food was stellar that i took so many pictures to try and capture the food. The look of the food is nothing compared to how it actually taste so it's so worth going out to try. And during this time of covid19 I will add that I noticed the staff giving a good sanitizing cleanse to the table next us in between customers. Not my first time here, have always really loved the atmosphere and lighting in this place. Always enjoy the food and service however this particular visit left me with some disappointment. On this particular evening I reserved a table for a special occasion (anniversary) and specified that I wanted a table by the windows. I was very disappointed that my request was poorly received. I was seated in the "window" area and for my special occasion with my significant other, was placed right in between 2 large parties and on the smallest table. I asked for a standard table so that my other and I could sit near one another. Instead we had to sit across from each other and talk over all the loudness of the parties. We had to balance all our food on this small table. I realize that whiskey cake is not exactly the most romantic place and the restaurant is always packed, but there's a difference between being around a full seated restaurant and being between two large celebrating parties. Food is consistently good and fresh all the time, but I think it's a little overrated (overpriced) during dinner time. If you cannot make it for brunch, their happy hour is a really good deal. It's Monday-Friday from 4-6:30pm. There's $5 food items and discounted craft beers and cocktails. Service can be a hit or miss sometimes, which is why I have bring the rating down to 3 stars. You cannot leave here without having the famous whiskey cake. Sometimes I will just call it in and take it to-go, because it's that good. Even if desserts are not your thing you must try it! Reservations weren't necessary during my lunch time visit but it did fill up quickly. Everyone was pleasant and cordial and made the visit more pleasant. This is a farm to table concept eatery and the items and flavors reflect a fresh and eclectic menu. My non-alcoholic beverage the Jessica Wabbit was so refreshing and the ginger and carrot were tasty. You can opt for half sandwich and cup of soup if you struggle to finish your food like I often do. The fried green tomatoes were a delicious appetizer and were piping hot when served. The half sandwich of the pickled pastrami was savory and I think they make their own pickles. Served with chips but wasn't listed on the online menu that way. Speaking of menu, you can scan the QR code with your phone. This is more sanitary and environmentally friendly. Great server, clean bathroom and dining area. The open kitchen concept allows you to see the magic happening (depending on where you're seated).
