Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu selection. I ordered the Fried Chicken and Parmesan Grits and it was so good. It had a lot of flavor. My husband had the Houdini Burger and he couldn't get enough of it. The waiter was able to recommend the best way to order it and he enjoyed it thoroughly. We sat at a booth, server came to get our drinks (3 minutes later), 5 minutes later no drinks. A server came asked if we been helped we said yes a while ago and she started making excuses for poor service. She claimed they are short staffed but I seen 5 servers and maybe 10 tables. The good news is that I walked away with plenty of leftovers and my dogs will enjoy the steak more than I did. Frozen butter on my steak? I think even Elsa and Anna wouldn't have approved. I have visited a couple of times on Sunday evenings to see my friends in Mojo Roux. The last time I ordered the fried shrimp dinner, which was decent. Its pub food, but what's wrong with that - you don't expect fine dining. Actually there was a very large portion of fried shrimp, fries, and a little dish of better than average cole slaw. The shrimp were tender, and the tartar sauce was good. The french fries were the only disappointment - too crispy and not enough soft on the inside. Almost as if they had been cooked once and reheated. My wife had the bang bang shrimp, which were delicious but some still had the shell on - sloppy work in the kitchen. We were prepared to be under-whelmed with the food because its really just a bar, but overall it was ok and better than our low expectations. Whiskey Jax is just ok........but Mojo Roux is worth coming out to see. read more

I really like this business because of the live music and good selection of beers. I have to add the service is always so so mainly because they seem to be understaffed. The people who work there are great, just need more. I do not usually order food but last night I went there and tried their hamburger. I smiled a little bit when the server asked how I wanted it cooked because I do not really think you should have to ask how you want a burger,it is not a steak. Anyway I told her I really wanted to see it come out medium rare. When I received the burger the meat was past well done and the pretzel bun seemed like it just came out of the Sysco secret vault which makes everything taste like cardboard. The hand cut fries were warm and limp. There was a very generous portion of blue cheese served with the burger. The server never inquired about my meal and she was busy I hated to bother her. Though I had high hopes for Whiskey Jax, I have to admit dinner here was okay, but nothing too impressive. We tried the avocado fries on the happy hour menu and asked for two orders since we had a larger party. One order would have been enough since they were disappointingly bland. Typically I never want to add salt to restaurant food, but nearly everything we ordered here had us looking for salt and pepper, which was not to be found on the tables. I tried the chicken and pear sandwich on a pretzel bun with a side of coconut rice, which sounded good in theory but both were also lacking flavor. The tacos appeared to be good though and the reuben sandwich got thumbs up. I would not recommend the ribeye steak, though to be fair the individual in our party who ordered this dish asked for it well-done so there was not a chance this would turn out tasting well. read more

The booth we were sat at had crumbs and a ripped seat, and the drink menu was missing from the leather binder, so from the beginning it seemed like they didn't have things together. After waiting for at least 10 minutes, someone finally asked if we'd been helped. She apologized for the wait, grabbed a drink menu, and was overall very nice and accommodating. The food was okay at best. Avocado fries lacking in taste, but the thai chili sauce made them much better. Today, I visited this place and had amazing food. Not just that but the atmosphere was nice. As my wife and I sat at the bar and ate, we saw some of the customers greet one another and talk about their families. This is the first place I've been to that gave off a "cheers" vibe where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came. There were even people who met while we were there and invited one another to their homes. Very cool little gastro pub, with a great menu and wonderful service. We went for the first time with friends from out of town and found the atmosphere to be great for just relaxing and catching up. The whiskey menu is awesome if you like to try things other than the standards you'd find anywhere else. We had several appetizers and they were all really well seasoned full of flavor and portioned to share. All the entrees were great as well, my only draw back was I thought the sauce on the salmon was too sweet, but again that's a personal preference. We have had dinner here before and it was very good but this visit we had breakfast and it was not. My husband ordered chicken and waffles w/o mango salsa on top but it came all over it. Then, he cut into the chicken and it was a huge chunk of fat and, as he cut more, we realized it was dark meat, which neither of us likes. He tried to eat it anyway but the texture was rubbery. The menu does not state what type of meat but every restaurant we've had this dish at serves white meat. I had eggs, home fries and toast w/bacon and the eggs were slimy. When I told the waitress we weren't thrilled she said, "Yes, our dishes are pretty big"...I guess she didn't hear me right but, at that point, we just wanted to pay and leave. Appetizers come - they are chicken wings that are really over-cooked chicken nuggets with syrup (it's suppose to be some fancy sweet bourbon sauce) nope...syrup. Stopped in with a friend on a Saturday night shortly after they opened. It was a very good experience-- waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Menu is great--everything from sandwiches and burgers to salmon and short ribs, all with a slight twist on the traditional. We had the lobster roll appetizer to start-- delicious! I had Red's Rueben-- fantastic and my friend had the short ribs and they were great also. Presentation of the food was very nice. The owner stopped by to chat.... Hope they stay... it's a nice place to have in that location. My friend and I both said we'd go back... maybe have to try brunch or when they have live music.
