Let me start by saying that it takes really good food and great service for me to give a five star review. I went on a Thursday evening for a happy hour with friends from work. Whiskey Jacksonville has a happy hour that goes from 4 to 7. It's not the best happy hour ($1 off beers) but it's not bad. Trivia also starts at 7 on Thursday and although there was no one in the restaurant when we arrived at 5:30 most of the tables were reserved for people who did not show up until around 7. We had starters. We tried the wings, the avacado fries, the chicken nachos and the fried green tomatoes. Everyone liked their dishes. No one thought they were great. There were only two waitresses so service was average. The portions sizes were good and the appetizer are shareable by two people. The place did fill up around 7:00 with trivia teams. There were only a few tables open after 7:00. There is outdoor seating but no one was sitting outside and it was a great night.

Averting the storm, we sailed into Whiskey Jax. I am so glad we did. Bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary Sundays was on the top of our list. Server was attentive but there was not lot to compete with. The bar was full. For a quaint time and a place to get personable with your peeps, Whiskey Jax is spot on.

First time going to Whiskey Jax. The waitress was very nice and helpful. The drinks are really good. Out of four drinks they all were on point. The food is okay, depending on what you're ordering. Friday nights are their live band, which we were unaware of. This spot is predominantly white mid 30's to 60's. Not a mix crowd at all. Not completely sure why....I did feel a little rushed to leave after paying the bill.

Oh it has been a long time Whiskey Jax. We used to come here back in 2014 when they first opened, back when we used to live on Baymeadows. It has probably been about 2 year since we were here but a friend of ours asked if we wanted to get brunch so of course we were in. We arrived Sunday morning and it was pretty empty. We sat ourselves and our waitress though I'm pretty sure she said she was actually the bartender quickly brought us menus. To drink I ordered the bottomless Mimosas ($10 great price) which were quickly brought back out to us. For my meal or ordered the Eggs Benedict Maryland Style they come with Crab cakes instead of Canadian Bacon ($10.5). As we waited for our food our waitress made sure we never found the bottom of our mimosas and was extremely attentive. Our food then came out pretty quickly. My Crab Cake Benny was pretty good. Not the best I have ever had but still very good especially for the price. All and all we had a great time at brunch thanks to our waitress doing a great job plus the good food. I also noticed there is still a lot on the menu that I plan to try so we will for sure be coming back. Till net time Whiskey Jax see you soon!

I've heard good things about this place. They were all true. They have Happy Hour drink specials. The server and host were very nice and informative. They have live bands that come out which is always a pleasure.$5 Manhattans COUNT ME in! The burgers are amazing and we tried this fried avocado sticks

    Meatloaf and Atlantic Sunrise Burger

Food was fantastic! Also enjoyed the prickly pear margarita. Our waitress Hanna did a great job. My only complaint would be that the live band was too loud. We sat in a booth and couldn't hear each other from across the table. I even moved to the same side of the booth as the other person and we still had to yell in each other's ear.

This was my first visit to Whiskey Jax and I'm so glad my friend invited me to meet her for happy hour. The service and food were top notch. We started off with the avocado fries. I love avocado and this was such a great twist on this yummy fruit. They were served with a delicious dipping sauce that I want to learn how to make. I had the spicy chicken soup of the day which was so flavorful. I loved the hot kick. My entree was the chicken caesar salad which was served with fresh shaved parmesan and homemade rye croutons. I do not eat rye, but they were so light and crispy. The lettuce was fresh and I absolutely loved the red pepper caesar dressing. And I can't forget they gave me lots of chicken. I ended my meal with the pineapple and coconut cake which was so smooth and creamy. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. And our server was very attentive and friendly. Love this spot!

"Boogie nights, ain't no doubt, we are here to party" My wife and went here to watch the Penn State game... WE ARE... (if you don't know, you don't know)! I know that I'm going to date myself by saying this, but this place kinda reminds me of a Bennigan's. It's a sports bar and, unbeknownst to me, a night club. Bennigan's didn't have a night club, but this place turns up. i'll get to the latter later. We initially sat at a high top in the bar area. We ordered a Tito's with Sprite and a lime and Four Roses Yellow on the rocks, which were priced at $10 and $6.50, respectively. Now, that's not too bad, but we didn't get another round. After we placed our orders we were summoned to the patio by one of my energetic alumni to watch the game with other Penn Staters. Our server's name was Olivia and she's definitely on top of her game so luckily she was able to continue to assist us while out there. I've said enough, you're here for the food. I ordered a WJ Classic with no bun and a side salad. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and the pickled onions were a very nice touch. Well played Whiskey Jax. My wife ordered a salad adorned with a heaping of poultry protein. She also had the lobster bisque, which was EVERYTHING. If you have a chance, don't cheat yo'self, treat yo'self. Now, the coup de grace of the night was the unexpected band. I guess that this place has a band every Saturday night and on this night were the Boogie Freaks. This was a truly eclectic band, in appearance, but if you're a 70's funk lover (who isn't?!?) then check them out.

This has become a Mother's Day tradition for us. We have never needed reservations in the past and today we almost weren't so lucky, but the hostess made it happen. I always enjoy coming here because the staff is always friendly and not over attentive or under attentive. The food is always magnificent as well. Today I chose the fried green tomatoes and the chimichurri steak tacos. The fried green tomatoes are a favorite of mine and I enjoy them every time. The tacos were listed at $8.50 and the wording made it seem as though I would only receive one, but it actually came with two! Yesterday I left a review of Blue Pacific Taco about the price for an unmanigable taco and their goto excuse was "We use a 6" tortilla". Well, so does Whiskey Jax and they know how to properly portion the tacos as well. Yesterday I paid $7 for 1 way over-stuffed taco, and today I paid $8.50 for two perfectly portioned tacos. Are you paying attention Blue Pacific?? Ugh! Anyways, we had a party of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meals from the blue chips, banging shrimp tacos, the hash, and the shrimp and grits. I do really wish we had a location in Fleming Island so I could visit more often. Keep up the great work and amazing food!

Ask the Community - Whiskey Jax

Is Whiskey Jax Baymeadows still open? We were there last night about 6:30. Outside TV’s were on, but there no cars around and the doors were locked. Door sign said open Mon 4:00, but we not see any lights on inside. Hope it’s not closed permanently!

Good afternoon. Apparently they have not updated the sign outside. They are closed every Monday. I can only assume some of the maintenance crew had the outside TVs on while cleaning I forgot to turn them off right we are so sorry. I will try to get…

Is this place accommodating to vegans?

Hi, ummm I really don't know. I didn't see any signs but call ahead to make sure.

A new Whiskey Jax has opened in Marsh Landing (near Ponte Vedra) and I heard that it's not as good as the one reviewed here. Anyone have any comments on the Marsh Landing one?…

Hey, Ted. When we first opened, we took some bumps and bruises (quite a few). We opened about a month too early because of some football commitments we had six months prior.…

Even though we had a reservation, it didn't seem to make a difference. We waited about 15 minutes just to find a host or hostess to be seated. During that time, we saw several other groups leave because no one was available to greet or seat them. It wasn't the best first impression and definitely set the tone for the visit. Once we were seated, the food was excellent. You can really tell that everything is made from scratch, and the quality and freshness stood out. The Garlic Parmesan Brussels Sprouts, topped with garlic aioli and Parmesan cheese, were delicious and packed with flavor. I also ordered the Kale Caesar Salad with grilled chicken, which was fresh and well-balanced with house greens, Parmesan cheese, and Caesar vinaigrette. My little ones ordered the Crispy Southern Fried Chicken Fingers with fries, and they both really enjoyed their meals. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight of our visit, but the service and lack of organization upon arrival could use improvement. If they can address the front-of-house experience, it would make for a much better visit.

Reservations can be made via OpenTable, and I saw this suggested on Yelp so I decided to try one evening. Upon arriving, I marveled at the beauty of the interior design of the bottom floor that also serves as a gallery. I ascended the staircase as the restaurant is on the third floor. I dined alone as this trip I didn't have a coworker with me, but I still was seated in a cozy corner to take it all in. Isaac, my waiter, was incredibly friendly, and ensured I had everything I needed. What I Ordered: - Caesar Salad: This salad is as pretty good, but at a price point of $19, I would likely skip if dining here again. Though, it did have the perfect hint of lemon for acidity and the croutons tasted house-made. Perhaps if you added a protein, this could become your main dish and elevate it. - Lobster Roll: $36 for a lobster roll?! I was intrigued as this was noted as a signature dish and a standout for what this location is known for... and boy was I IMPRESSED! The roll was perfectly toasted, and the lobster to roll ratio was absolute perfection. The flavor of the lobster was juicy and tasted fresh. This roll was so good that even the neighboring table as they left asked how I enjoyed it. They were recognized by staff, so I believe they are regulars. We all discussed how delicious it was and I shared my thoughts on the execution of lobster to bread ratio. I dined here a couple weeks ago, and I'm still thinking about where in Arizona I'll ever find a roll as decadent. - Cappuccino: a mark of a truly well-crafted cappuccino is the sugar test. Will the foam withstand the weight of sugar or will it sink to the bottom (poorly frothed)? I had ordered and didn't realize they would put a design on top! Visually stunning, and happy to report they make a beautiful cappuccino with delightful foam. Added pictures to showcase the design they added, and the sugar test. The rooftop has stunning views, and the food is a work of art as well. Though I had a lighter dinner with a salad + lobster roll, I was impressed with the meal and would return to try more of the menu if I visit for business or personal reasons in the future. This area has lots of restaurants, but this one definitely leaves an impression and draws this foodie back in to return. Check it out if you are in the area!

The carpaccio was amazing with the smoked salt, and the briny caviar. My friend ordered the chips and dip, and heaven on earth is combining the two appetizers (a chip topped with avocado and then a dollop of creme fraiche/caviar). The chicken was okay. I should have gone with something else, but I panic-ordered. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't remarkable. I should have gone with a fancy salad or the lobster roll. My second drink, a glass of rose, was okay but wasn't served ice cold, a disappointment. I shared a chocolate chip cookie at the end of the meal, and it was absolutely delicious. I'd happily return with that crew of ladies, and I'd happily recommend this place for a date night.

Without exaggeration, this was a life-changing ramen. The best ramen that I've had in my life!! The torched egg was genius and added a beautiful texture to the rich, and flavorful broth.
