Mediocre bar. The service is horrible. They seat you right away and then you wait. The hostess was very informative and nice. However, she did not offer any drinks or anything even though she knew we had been seated there a while. We tried to catch someone's attention and ask for water only to be told a waitress would be with us. The waitress Trina that did finally help us was snobby and slow. Go here every other weekend with my girls & sometimes even my boys. All together we usually spend around $300. So that could be $600 a month. A pretty good amount of money we put into the bar. Now I'm a fighter so I'M NOT GOING TO DRINK EVERY TIME I GO OUT especially while I'm in camp. So my homie (who also has a fight) we wanted to go there & watch the fights (which we have done before) & there has never been a problem until today. This "man" behind the bar then tells us "if we don't buy a drink then we have to leave". My homie I were confused because this was the first time we've every been told this. So we were like okay we will just go to the bathroom & leave. As I'm in the bathroom I realized I left my bag at the bar. When I went to go get my bag I just felt this "man" staring at me. So I was like whatever proceeds to leave BUT then the other homie wanted to know why we were leaving. So I proceed to tell him & then he was like you can just buy me a drink so you don't have to drink it or waste your money. Then that's when this "man" approaches us AGAIN & reiterate what he already told us AS WE WERE ABOUT TO BUY A DRINK. Meanwhile, the whole time he spoke with us he was looking at me 99% of the conversation. So I told him why are you only looking at me this whole time?? Went here last Saturday night on a date night and caught some live music. Had a blast! Been a local to Redlands for many years but hadn't been attracted to the going out seen for a long time. This place really is a great addition to the downtown Redlands nightlife. Looking forward to going back. Please allow me to offer some constructive criticism/information. My friends and I were there on Sunday. We spent a fair amount of $ on food and drink and had a great time! When the band tried to get paid, we overheard the tall manager tell the drummer that this was "just an audition," after they already played for 3 hours. I believe whomever told you they were paid in full, lied to you. Your own people lied to you. If I were you, I'd contact the band yourself and ask if they were "paid in full." If you find me to be wrong, and I sincerely doubt it, I'll be the first one to apologize and post a retraction. If I could remember the name of the band, I'd call them myself to confirm. When they left, you could see they weren't happy. They brought in a lot of business that day. We've been there on Sundays in the past, and never saw it this packed. I would suggest you look into it, and look at your sales for that day and time as well. I'm a business owner/operator here in Redlands. If I did stuff like this, and word got out, I wouldn't be in business long. Whiskey Republic has the potential to be one of the best places in Redlands. I want it to be our "go to place." We went around three in the afternoon and it was not to busy. We were hesitant to try the food because no one was eating. We thought it was a little strange couldn't really smell food either. We were hungry so we tried the flatbread pizza and asked for it to be extra crispy and a burger. Both were actually really delicious. We were excited to try out a new place, and it started out ok. We got drinks and food, had a small table. More friends arrived and ordered drinks and food. They had a shift change and the new server came and wanted to charge us a $100 deposit or basically we needed to leave because it was crowded. We still had drinks and food! Really?! So, to even order a single drink or food item you have to give a credit card up front. Got the bill and they added a $2 charge to everyone for using a credit card. Wow. Never going back. This place is terrible. Looking at other reviews I can see we weren't the only ones they were shafting for a deposit. I rarely leave bad reviews, but you should avoid this place at all costs. My friend and I went on Saturday and had the most horrible service. Our waitress Ashley was rude, and when we complained about my friends wine glass having soap in it, she got an attitude. The next glass came back again with soap in it! She left it at the bar for 20 minutes. I went to the bartender and she sent the manager Mary to us and we complained about the horrible service and the soap. When we finally got our food, which was good, but due to the complaint, the waitress never came back after we paid the bill. We had some friends join us, and they actually had to go to the bar and got us two more rounds of drinks. Then, all of a sudden, Mary, the manager, came over and told us we had to leave because people were waiting to eat or we would have to pay $100!!! I was done with this place! as I was walking out, I asked the hostess if anyone was waiting to eat? there was no one there, no line, and she said no one was waiting for a table to eat. I will never go back to this place again. I have never been treated so horrible. I can't comment on the food at this place because we just came for drinks, which turned into 1 drink each because the service was absolutely abysmal and the clock was ticking. The other reviews about the bad/slow/lack of service are not exaggerations. We weren't greeted upon arrival, and found ourselves in one of those weird, bumble around, stare at each other, look-for-an-employee situations before we were noticed and taken to a table. Our waitress was too busy shooting the breeze around the corner with other employees to bother checking on us when we were about ready for round 2 of cocktails. No amount of blonde extensions, cropped tops, cutoff jeans, cleavage, or condescending "hon" and/or "sweetie" can make up for *terrible service*. The whiskey drinks were fine, the margarita was disgusting. On the plus side, I loved that they played country music because Redlands has been sorely lacking in that department and the town is full of country music lovers.... So, more of that please. Went to this place for the first time last night with a group of friends for their birthday. We all had a lot of fun and the server was nice. I have nothing bad to say about the environment and staff, but when we were leaving apparently the manager sent one of her workers to let us know we are not welcome back. Nobody in our group was inappropriate or disturbing that I saw. I'm quite confused as to why we are not welcome back but all 30 of us will not be going back sadly. So I take my bestie for a birthday lunch and we love us some whiskey and decided to try this new place. We walk in and it is very rustic, but new rustic. Pool tables and a big area for the band and/or dancing. The place is empty but it is 2:30, not exactly lunch hour. The music is LOUD. I saw a guy turn it down when we came in and it was still LOUD. I couldn't hear her talk. We went with traditional old fashioned. She asked what whiskey we wanted. I asked what the house whiskey was, she didn't know. We waited for our drinks and talked over the loud music. She came back and we ordered food. Still no drink. Remember no one else is in the place. Server comes back a couple of minutes later and apologizes, but the health inspector just showed up and we can cook while they are here. Do you still want the drinks? Yes... really almost 10 minutes for the drink. We both thought it strange the kitchen got closed down, unless they found a problem. I mean, what would happen if there had been a full restaurant? Food already on the grill? We finally get the drink. It's an old fashioned, whiskey, simple syrup, bitters. Should be pretty strong. We both looked at each other and said, kinda weak. Not sure what else she added to the drink, but it was pretty weak for a whiskey drink. Server has disappeared, I did see her walk by another area, on the phone. My friend asks the bartender for the bill. I get the bill, look at it and then put on my glasses and look again. Ask my friend to look at it. It was for .41. What the heck? I gave a tip and we hightailed it out of there. Was that there way of comping the drinks because of the snafu with the food? If so, why didn't they say something? Very strange. I know they are new and it seems strange that the health inspector would be showing up a month or two after opening. Wouldn't one have been there prior to opening? Or maybe someone turned them in? I think we dodged a bullet. I won't be back. I saw other reviews about the service but figured it was because it was new. Even new, the service was horrible as were the drinks. J.
