Any restaurant that has the word "Castle" in it must be of the highest quality and fit mostly for royalty (like Burger King). To see that it is actually designed as a castle made me feel like I was at Buckingham Palace, or perhaps Windsor Castle. The hamburgers were about the same size as the crown jewels, so I knew I was in the right place. I expected more of a manicured garden at this estate, but there was a Walgreens next door and perhaps a multi-acre estate was not available in Hopkins when the castle was constructed. I'm sure they are working on plans for the royal garden. Interior Ambiance: It does seem to be a bit more "rustic" than the palaces of the United Kingdom, but it did contain both booths and tables and a magic soda machine that dispenses different flavors of pop at the touch of a button. There is also a photographic exhibition (a permanent exhibition, I am told) of various other castle locations from the mid part of the last century. Signs that inform you that you can "buy 'em by the sack," are strategically placed on the walls. I'm not sure what "em" are, nor what size is a "sack," but I'm sure it's a good deal. Service: They have a specially-designed counter made from chef-grade stainless steel or perhaps silver, where you place your order. One of the castle-staff is waiting to take your order (assuming they are not taking an order for the drive-through part of the castle). You can pay either by cash or by credit card; I'm not sure if they accept bit coin. I do know they appreciate US Currency over Euros. I was impressed that monetary-taker asked for my name and I assume that it's so that she can send me a personal thank you note after my purchase. I was also impressed that she remembered my name when my order was ready. Food Presentation: I was told to order more than one hamburger at a time, so I ordered six of them and they each came with five hand-stamped holes to allow the onions to permeate throughout the meat. This is an old French technique that I have seen demonstrated by Julia Childs, so I know this restaurant is of the highest caliber. I assume the hamburger was A5 Wagyu beef, but I'm not sure. It contained very finely diced onions (great knife skills!), a slice of dill pickle probably imported from Katz's Deli in New York City, and a bun that was soft as a cloud. I know that quality is a key concern at White Castle because they pack each hamburger in its own little box, as carefully as Dayton's used to wrap Christmas presents. In fact, it was like receiving six presents from the King himself. Food Review: Never have I tasted anything like a White Castle hamburger. The finely chopped onion and the crisp bite of the pickle produce a unique taste. I added a bit of ketchup to enhance the experience and I was surprised that I had finished the first burger without quite realizing that I had eaten it. Fortunately, I had five more presents to unwrap. I should also mention that there are complete novels, well, short novels, printed on every box, such as tales of knights missing their own weddings because they had to buy White Castles first. One must admire such loyalty, even it comes at the expense of the damsel-in-distress bride waiting at the alter. By this time, I was really looking forward to my second hamburger and wondering if it could match the flavor and texture of the first hamburger. I am more than pleased to tell you that they are able to maintain uniform consistency. And so it went until I had finished all of my burgers. Apparently this chain has been around for over 100 years and they are celebrating with a "1921" burger, which was the year the king founded this establishment. Ironically, the 1921 burger contains ingredients that they never used in 1921 (or any of the years after that) such as tomato and lettuce. But if you are the King, I guess you can do whatever you want within your castle. read more

Attempted to go through the drive-thru twice over the span of 2 weeks. Both times I sat for at least 5 minutes at the menu, waiting for an employee to take my order. Nobody took my order or told me to hold, I drove around and looked through the window they serve the food and saw 2 employees just standing there, talking to each other. Both times. Staff weren't very attentive to when I had approached the counter despite there being no other customers at the front. The chicken rings were hot and okay. The dining room had a few chairs with no seats on them. Some cleaning and TLC could do this place some good. Plenty of parking available. I was given a coupon book with my order. Employee taking a break in the dining room was playing their music loudly on their phone with no disregard for customers in the dining room, time to get some earbuds lol! read more

According to the drive through representative this evening June 18th the company no longer returns change on a dollar the cents. I've never heard this policy anywhere else. I also asked for hot food but got cold food. Go to any other location. I'm telling everyone that will listen this White Castle has the worst service. read more

Went to one in Orlando and it was a very get store, service was amazing the food was great. Came to this one and the service sucked. The guy who took my order just asked... what do you want? As I ordered he kept saying what else what else? I finished, ordered a soda and a water and he gave me one cup. I said what about my water cup? He said you never ordered water. Fine I can live with this. I went and asked a guy for a for and he grab one and just threw it on the counter. Didn't say here you go thank you, nothing. Will not be back to this place. read more

Even by lowered White Castle standards this locations fails to live up to a good experience. Pre Covid this place was good and seemed to be well run and was open 24 hours. Since Covid ended this locations seems to steadily be going downhill. No longer 24 hours, they don't even open the lobby at night any more and only have drive thru. The employees seem to be trying but seems like always short staffed. The problems appear to be at a much higher level with the issues maybe the location manager or area manager or store owner I don't know but the food is still okay (not up to their usual standards honestly). They get orders wrong more than they get them right, the employees are always rushing to catch up from taking your order to serving you to getting the tables cleaned. Because they are understaffed and constantly rushed the errors are constant from forgetting items with orders or long waits to order or pay or long waits to get food. Again not the employees fault, seems like they are trying but the store has only two employees working when they should have three or four working every time I visit. Hopefully this location will get things back on track in the future but for now (and the last year or so) the most I can give them is two stars at this particular location in Hopkins. read more

I was on a business trip in the Hopkins MN area. Being from the Des Moines IA metro the closest WC is hours away. After my time in the military and being stationed in the South and on both coasts WC (or Krystal's) is my guilty pleasure. Lobby hours had been cut back to 500 pm so I hit the drive through for a bag of 10 cheese sliders... I could tell by the smell in the car something wasn't quite right. I'm not sure how to verbalize it other than something was "off". WC's is kind of like sex... None of its bad. Just some is better than others. Except for prison sex. Prison sex is mostly bad...at least that's my guess. Lol Five of my sliders were fresh and good. Five had been sitting under a warmer or something and were various degrees of dried out. I get it. They're cheap. You're probably short staffed. We're lucky you're still open. But c'mon! Steaming those burgers can't take that long. Next time give me a heads up and I'll wait for fresh sliders. This team has been working through thick and thin through Covid and continues to deliver. White Castle has been a generational family-favorite for decades. This team really represents the chain well. Always friendly and get things right through both the drive through and over the counter. My motorcycle broke down today a half mile away. I walked down the highway and got a Number 1 Combo (my go to) and had a side of the road picnic while waiting for the tow. White Castle has a devoted following. For Craver Nation, it is the "Taste You Crave." On the other hand, many people I know express disgust at the mere thought of ordering a Sack o' Sliders. On this love 'em or loath 'em spectrum, I find myself uncharacteristically somewhere near the middle. I can understand and even empathize with the "no way" crowd. Yet, I have to admit that there is a somewhat addictive quality to WC. It's a habit I just can't kick. I can only strive to limit my indulgence to a few times a year. Back in the day, WC was a preferred after hours spot (the Lake Street location especially). Let's say that the assorted characters made for some great people watching. The food was suitably greasy, enough to coat one's stomach after maybe hitting it a bit too hard at the bar. Now-a-days, I don't have the need for pre-hangover food and generally don't stay out very late. However, as indicated I find myself very occasionally in thrall to a powerful urge that can be satisfied only by an order of Double Jalapeno Cheese (Vinyl) Burgers and a box of fries (nails). Those around you may not appreciate the unique White Castle aura that one often radiates after a meal. You may become a social pariah (at least temporarily). But for that brief moment of savoring the hot, spicy, pillows of boxed burgers and a handful of salty crinkle cuts all washed down with an icy cold pop the price will have been worth it. I went through the drive thru today. The burgers weren't steamed, it at a hard, cold bun and cold meat. The fries were cold too. Awful!!!

I ordered the fish meal. Instead they gave me the wrong order and gave me the chicken sandwich meal and I dont even meat. Also the chicken sandwich they provided me I wouldnt even feed to my dog. The taste was just horrible. Also customer service is very ghetto and unprofessional. I tried calling white castle number numerous of times to get a refund or credit due to there error. But never once received a phone call back. People work to hard for they money for them to be acting lazy and playing games. So will I recommend anyone to this hopkins location ever again? I hear White Castle, I think of finding Harold & Kumar. I saw that movie ages ago, but have never made it out to the fast food chain, as I never really saw the need to experience this classy joint... until last week. Apparently, for the past 20 years, White Castle has gone all out for Valentine's Day. I heard about it through one of my co-workers who has gone yearly with his wife (and now children and grandparents) for the past handful of years; he loves the novelty of it, as well as being able to treat his family to a fun event for cheap. Since I already dine out at fancy restaurants pretty often, I felt that a typical restaurant reservation for this year's Vday was simply too... mundane. So, for this year, we decided to spice it up! First off, in all seriousness, and in no laughing matter, you HAVE to make a reservation. Chad and I made our reservation two weeks earlier and got the very last table - a table for 2 at 8pm at the Hopkin's location. Serious. Next, dress code: anything goes. I was in business casual as I went from work, but there were folks in sweat pants as well as dresses! We pull up and first thing you notice is that it's dark inside - yup, mood lighting. The drive-through is closed and the restaurant is only open to those with reservations. One day only, White Castle has waitstaff. They have a make shift hostess stand by throwing a heart-decked table cloth over a huge trash can. You're taken to your candle-lite, table-clothed table where there's a special Valentine's Day menu, candies on the table, carnation in plastic vases center pieces and red helium mylar heart-shaped balloons! You're asked for your drink order (soft drinks, ice tea, chocolate shake, milk, or coffee) and then you decide what to get. As this was our first time there, we pretty much tried every item: a white castle hamburger (.65), Jalapeno cheeseburger (1.58), Bacon cheeseburger (1.09), A1 Slyder (1.59), Fish w/Cheese (1.29), Pulled pork slider (.99), and chicken ring w/cheese (1.29). For sides, we also tried the fish nibbler (2.79 small, 6.99 sack), onion chips (1.99 or 3.19), and cheese sticks (1.99-4.99). My favorite side were the onion chips - essentially like onion rings, but less onion and more fried goodness. Favorite sandwich was a toss-up between the bacon or jalapeno. We weren't sure how big these were, so we only got a few at first.. then tried a few more. In the end, our bill came to $18 and we were stuffed. It was definitely the most classy, romantic dinner ever... HAH. Completely out of my style, but very novel, and very much fun. Chad and I probably will not be doing this again next year, but it is definitely a must-do at some point. As we had the last call-times, we were able to take home some of the decorations - so kudos for the free carnations and helium balloons. =D read more

Do not go here and expect to make it through the drive thru fast. I swear this drive thru is so terribly slow and the service is not that great. However, if you go in the service upgrades. The staff doesn't seem as annoyed with you. When you order, it never sounds good. You always do the quick pray that they heard you correct since the screen is broken half the time. It it your traditional white castle. Make sure you order cheese on your sliders. The chicken sliders are great, the fries are boring...the cheese sticks are good but the sauce they come with is disgusting! Their breakfast is actually quite good. The egg often falls out when I try to eat them, but it is a real egg, not a precooked microwaved egg like you get at some of the other places around town. read more

My son went through the drive thru this evening. The person that helped him was NOT wearing gloves. The mask they were wearing was on their chin instead of their nose and mouth. When he got home he was really bothered by this. There are people in our household that are at risk for the virus. My son felt better tossing all the food out instead of bringing in the house. I'm giving two stars because the woman at the drive up window was very pleasant, hustling and doing her best. I got the new 1921 burger that had no flavor of its own. The lettuce included was about 1 inch long half an inch wide and very thin, one small sliced pickle and 3 slivers of grilled onions. The tomato slice covered less than half the patty. For the alcohol consumers, we've all had the experience known as "beer goggles." The amount of alcohol you drink is directly proportional to the attractiveness of the opposite sex. This effect can also be attributed to food selection. At the beginning of the night, the idea of stuffing your food hole with small pieces of slimy meat (unknown origin) sandwiched between processed white bread is unappealing. However, after imbibing copious amounts of liquor, that same unappealing meal looks like a sampling from a Michelin star restaurant and tastes like food from a James Beard award winning chef. Serves the basic White Castle fair, but with terrible customer service. I've had several orders which were wrong when I received them. What takes the cake is the other day I was yelled at by the drive through worker when I was trying to tell him what crave case I wanted. I wrote up a complaint to the corporate site and no one seemed to care. Went to McDonnalds the night I was yelled at and had the most polite drive through worker help me.
