Tried it twice getting a standard chicken and bbq combo, and both times the food had a weird soapy taste. They are more of a takeout than a dine in so don't expect any ambiance to speak of. The menu is pretty standard like most of the "Hawaiian" fast food chain businesses in the southern California area. But in my experience and opinion one may find an exceptional item on their menu that's so good that the rest of their food isn't up to par with. And I think one must try their macaroni salad. We got two meals here for dinner tonight. A mix Hawaiian bbq and curry chicken katsu. There are rice, macaroni salad and cabbage in both box. The cabbage was tasteless on its own. The ones in my box was a bit raw and the ones in my husband's was soggy. As for the proteins, there were three meats in the mix bbq, short ribs, chicken and some beef. Actually my score is about 3.7, but thought I'd round up to show some love! This place is very straightforward. Relatively cheap, filling, and tasty food. Absolutely, no frills with packaging, food and seasoning combinations, etc. The food tastes like, "Damn, I'm hungry and need a place to eat," food. And for that, I'm thankful. I enjoyed the chicken katsu. I tend to like my katsu buttery and peppery, but this place was generous with the serving size. Everything was decent and relatively fresh. I have deductions for the "no cards under $10" sign and 75 cents for refills. Really, ladies? Step your games up. There's competition out there making wayyy better food and who are less busy who accepts cards for any amount. For my meal, it was conveniently 9.54, so if you're not getting a drink, think again! Their soups are filling and have a flavorful broth, with lots of ingredients in them. Nothing is skimpy about this place. There are many options, salads, barbecue, seafood, soups, and other Hawaiian favorites like moko loco. Their mahi mahi is fried, but tender and not overcooked, the outside is prefectly crunchy. When I asked for more katsu sauce, she rolled her eyes as if my request was so unreasonable and demanded an extra charge for it. It's pretty much a standard Hawaiian fast-food type of place and a really filling meal with plenty of leftovers will run you less than $10. A definite 3 meal plate for me. I was in the area on some errands and I was starving. I have always dodged this place because I have read the Yelp reviews. I admit it! I read and follow you bastards' advice (for good and bad!) I did a spot with the girl behind the counter because it looked like they were cleaning up the grills to close. "What can I still get?" "Anything you want" ".... .... ..." Why did that rend fear in me for some reason? Screw it. I'm already here, and I have to commit to it. I've been really craving spam lately (don't ask) so I decided on getting the spam loco moco. Admittedly, everything on the menu does look like mall food. But its cheap -- why not. The place is really cramped and not much seating. I would hate to be stuck at this place during a lunch hour rush. My order came up with ten minutes to spare. How am I going to assess the meal and take a pic for Yelp and still eat? HAHAHA. I was surprised by the weight of the styrofoam box. They do give a lot of food for the price. The gravy on the loco moco looked a little 'canned' A bit too opaque. But it did taste good with everything. The eggs looked overcooked but they broke open nicely to let the yolks ooze out like a sauce. The spam was cooked nicely too. I like mine a little more well done but everything worked nicely -- one by one they would taste mediocre. It was a lot of food to shovel down in ten minutes. I had to take the rest home. Its not a bad place. But its not one I would venture to just for the food, considering other places are so close by. I do understand the fears people have over the quality. The food is the same as any other Hawaiian bbq spot; katsu, bbq chicken/pork, spam, fried shrimp etc. I wouldn't say the staff is the friendliest in the world, but they're quick and the food is pretty decent. I usually stick with the mini meals, they get you full but not to that point where you're thinking about yacking. Parking in the plaza sucks. All and all, decent food for a decent price. Wikiwiki BBQ serves really solid hawaiin bbq. I come here for lunch when I want a high protein large meal. They are really good about letting you customize your plates if you want extra Mac or cabbage, sub our meats etc. service has always been very friendly and quick. I usually get the hawaiin plate and sometimes sub out the kalbi with katsu since they only give you one slice of short rib. Or the chicken and katsu combo.
