Whenever there's an occasion to celebrate, my family likes to go to Wildfire. On this visit, we were celebrating my sister visiting from out of town. The restaurant was very busy for a Tuesday night. The rolls always come out first. I ordered a Stella Artois for a drink. We ordered an appetizer of cornbread for the table. I like how their cornbread has actual pieces of corn in it. For an entrée, I ordered the coconut shrimp with a BBQ rubbed sweet potato as my side. The coconut shrimp was delicious with the ginger sauce they provided. The sweet potato was gigantic. I ate some with dinner and then was able to take the rest of it home. The leftover sweet potato made a meal of its own. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake because we were also celebrating two birthdays. Our server was very nice, although the food did take a while to get to the table. I came here for lunch during restaurant week and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Shrimp and Crab Bisque, which was deliciously watery. For a bisque, I usually think of a creamy soup and this was not it also we did not get any shrimp or crab meat in our portion but the flavor was there. The soup was good but could have been better. Then for our entree, We both ended up getting the Grilled Bison Burger with an onion marmalade, gruyere cheese, arugula on a ciabatta bun and coleslaw on the side. Im sorry the coleslaw was terrible, just throw it away. However, the Bison Burger was something that dreams were made of. It was delicious! my burger was grilled perfectly and all of the flavors seemed to just melt in your mouth. I highly recommend this dish, I don't even like arugula but I ate every single left on that burger. It's super filling without weighing you down, I could only eat half of my burger and saved the other half for later. When reheating it, it heats up well. I paired mines with the fresh broccoli and my friend had the roasted veggies which honestly was the better option. It had more veggies for your buck . We did not do desserts but we did have a drink. I had a good meal at Wildfire in Chicago. It is touted as a steakhouse, but there are plenty of other menu selections besides steak including daily specials. The inside was classy along with the service. I ordered lamb porterhouse off a side menu of specials. The waitress returned with three small thick porterhouse chops. I've never thought of porterhouse coming from a lamb. The meat was juicy with a nice seasoned crust on it. The flavor was that of lamb and wonderful. Well porterhouse is my favorite cut of meat because you get two in one (filet mignon on one side and strip steak on the other). This was the highlight of my meal. The baked potato and the bread were good as well, but couldn't compete with the porterhouse. I would like to come back and try another entree as well as a dessert. read more

We've been here to eat in before and we like the interior atmosphere but for the most part lately we've been ordering their chopped salad to go, which is huge. A "small" is actually enough for two people. We've also gotten the lemon chicken and red skinned potatoes and half-chicken. Both are large portions and delicious. I dine frequently at Wildfire in Glenview and usually have a great experience, so I decided to celebrate my sister's birthday at this location since we were in the area. Unfortunately, this visit was a disappointment in both the service and the food. We arrived on time for our 5:15 p.m. reservation, and the dining area wasn't busy, so we ordered cocktails before dinner. It took nearly 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Our martinis tasted watered down, as if they had been sitting at the bar waiting to be delivered--they weren't chilled and were more like room temperature. Both my sister and I ordered bone-in ribeyes cooked Pittsburgh style. Unfortunately, both steaks were overcooked, so we sent them back. When the steaks were returned, they were cold in the middle. I couldn't understand why this location struggled to get the Pittsburgh-style cooking right, so we asked for the steaks to be put back on the grill to warm them up to an edible temperature. The steaks were brought back for a third time and were somewhat cooked correctly, though still not as warm as they should have been. By this point, our side dishes had been sitting on the table and had gotten cold. The manager came over, apologized for the inconvenience, and offered to comp the room-temperature martinis. Unfortunately, this didn't make up for the ruined birthday celebration. I won't be returning to this Wildfire location again. I do appreciate the efforts of our waitress, who did her best, but she was caught in the middle between poor management and a chef who clearly doesn't know how to cook a Pittsburgh-style ribeye at this location. read more

I recently came with some friends, and it was very busy. We luckily had a reservation, and we waited at the bar until we were seated. Typical steakhouse with sides purchased separately. I shared a bowl of Shrimp and Crab Bisque. For my entree, I opted for the seasonal special, Cornbread-Crusted Fresh Atlantic Cod and Roasted Vegetables as my side. My bf had a bigger appetite and ordered Horseradish-Crusted Filet, Creamed Spinach, and Au Gratin Potatoes. Everything was well prepared and good, but I wanted the vegetables to be crispier/more roasted, and the cod needed more seasoning or cranberry-butter sauce. It was a bit boring. All three were cooked a tad too long but given that the meat was such a high quality - the Wellington was still wonderful. Better than Gordon Ramsay's place in Naperville. The lemon chicken was super moist. The trio were awesome but again - the steak was cooked a bit too long. The mashed potatoes were smooth and silky. The scalloped potatoes had mixed reviews. I thought they were a tad gluey but two companions loved them. The cherry pie was a perfect balance of tart and sweet. The fudge cake was delectable. It was date night for my hubby and I. We made reservations for 7:30p on a Friday night and the restaurant was jammed packed. We were greeted by the host and she confirmed my reservation and we were seated at a round booth. I ordered the 16oz prime rib w mashed red potatoes and a side of creamed spinach. My husband ordered the petit filet with au gratin potatoes. We both really enjoyed our entrees. I also ordered the raspberry cosmo. Wow that cocktail was amazing and I will definitely order it again. For dessert, our waiter said he was honest but did not like the peanut butter milk chocolate pie. So we decided to go safe and ordered the warm chocolate chip cookie skillet. It came warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream and hot fudge. It was delicious! Knocked 1 star because the food took what seemed like forever and our steak came medium rare when we ordered it medium. This was my fourth visit to Wildfire. The first time was a couple of years ago for a birthday. The place is comfortable and the staff has always been pleasant. This trip I opted for their Mushroom-Crusted Fancy Pork chops. It was the same thing I ordered last time, and again it was wonderful. I don't know what they put into that topping, but is rich and tasty. The chops were large and perfectly cooked. My side was a loaded baked potato. I also had lobster bisque soup. My friend had halibut and creamed spinach and he enjoyed it as well. I must also comment on their Door County cherry pie. I'm not even a cherry pie person, but this one is absolutely delicious. This review is for Special Events being held at this location. I have been attending the beer dinners for years now and people need to know how great they are! First off the staff is incredible. Accommodating, friendly and have it together. From the Events team, to the servers, to the chefs, they put together a memorable evening with creative pairings. These items are not on the regular menu, but made just for the event. You always get a few words from a brewery representative that talks about the origin and style of the beers and how they might compliment your food. The latest event was the Metropolitan Brewing Oktoberfest Beer Dinner. It was outstanding! Metropolitan is a local brewery out of the Avondale area in Chicago - check them out, they are fantastic. The Reception appetizers were Homemade Pretzels with cheddar cheese sauce. Fresh and delicious! Also the Beer Bratwurst Bites with caramelized onions and stone ground mustard. Very tasty with the MB Stomhaus Helles beer. First course was a VERY generous portion of Chicken Schnitzel with German fried potatoes (onion and bacon!) with roasted asparagus, paired with the MB Microvolt Table Lager, which was bubbly and refreshing. The Schnitzel was so flavorful, almost spicy, unlike the typical blander versions I have had. I should have only eaten half and took the rest home, but no, I polished it off. Main course was the tender, melt in your mouth Beef Goulash served with spaetzle and a dollop of sour cream. This was paired with the MB Flywheel Pilsner Beer, which was full flavored, just shy of an IPA kind of taste. This was my favorite course and I managed to eat most of it just because it was so tasty. Lastly the dessert was the German Chocolate Cupcake with Toffee Buttercream frosting. It was paired perfectly with the Metropolitan Brewing Afterburner Oktoberfest. This hands down is the best Oktoberfest I ever tasted (maybe it was the cupcake pairing?). Cupcake was huge, moist and the buttercream was sweet with the caramel notes that hit perfect with the beer. I encourage everyone who thinks they know Wildfire, to try the special dinners they put on. It really allows the chef's to shine. read more

The filet mignon was so over cooked that for the first time ever I wanted to return the steak. Problem was that the waitress didn't come check on us for over 25 minutes after serving our food. Another issue with the service was that I wanted to have a glass of red with my steak but the waitress never came by to check on us after ordering until the food was served. $250 wasted on a night out with my wife. Overpriced steak and bad service, I recommend looking somewhere else. Dessert was good but not enjoyed because I was thinking about the giant waste of money I just spent on bad food. read more

Wildfire is part of the giant Lettuce Entertain You restaurant juggernaut. Restaurants that are part of this group include Maggiano's and Shaw's Crab House among others. While there's a corporate formula, the execution is always spot-on and the results predictable and usually excellent. In the case of Wildfire, it has a very "old school" feeling and focuses on steaks and seafood delivered in a comfort food manner. I enjoyed a spot-on medium rare 14 oz NY strip here that was joined by a very traditional creamed spinach. They have a fairly decent list of sides if you want something else such as mac-and-cheese or sweet potato fries. I was pretty pleased with myself until I saw my neighbor's choice, a beautiful slab of prime-rib that looked like it came out of a culinary magazine. I have to admit being a little jealous at that point. The food was outstandingly good and our table had few leftovers for the doggie bag that night. Service was well run, friendly and ready to refresh drinks as they were drained from our glasses. This place just doesn't seem to be what it once was. Growing up in Schaumburg, my parents and I became sort of Wildfire regulars. It being on the pricier side, we frequented here for special occasions like birthdays and graduations. Over the years, that evolved into going more regularly. Last time I was in town, my parents took me here for my birthday and I was real excited about it. The service was unusually slow and not around much. Empty drinks sat on our table throughout the meal and we had to wait for our bill a long amount of time after finishing. We started with a cup of the lobster bisque which is always delicious. I typically order the filet, but wanted to try something new. My mom and I ordered the daily special - beer braised short ribs. Served with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. My dad got a rack of ribs with a sweet potato side. I wish I went with my usual because the short rib was just glorified potroast. The meat was tender but nothing special. My mom had the same meal, yet we had different vegetables on our plate. Weird. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we got the flourless lava cake complimentary. It's different than it once was--and not as good. It used to be sort of a cup shape and warmed. Now it's a cold slice with a fudgier texture. Don't get me wrong, we still enjoyed it, we were just surprised. This used to be the kind of restaurant where there wasn't a bad thing on the menu & everything was prepared correctly. Went on Valentine's Day once and almost every anniversary. I'd say we are loyal customers. This last time we went in early August we were shocked at the high prices of the drinks and meals. On top of that they charged us a restaurant fee of 4%. Prices were just outrageous. We will think twice about returning. We are sad and disappointed. read more

Fantastic place, came here with a group from work. Ambience was very nice the noise level was decent and able to have a conversation and weren't yelling at each other. One person said their steak was a little closer to medium than mid-rare but that could be an individual preference. Everyone commented that seasoning and taste for their order was spot on which was really solid. We were a table of 6 and they nailed all of our orders. I was hoping for a prime rib on the menu but unfortunately that was a no (I honestly enjoyed the Ny strip just fine). I would tell anyone this if you go you need to try the banana pudding pie.
