A friend took me to dinner at Wildflower on Friday at 5. Bear in mind that I have been dining there for years, with multiple family and birthday celebrations being held there, including a hallmark birthday celebration in the parking lot during COVID! This time we sat on the elevated patio, which is gorgeous! On Friday, the food was great, sort of, and our primary server, Bree (I think that was her name) , was great. Kind of. My friend's meal went without a hitch, with a round of Hugo Spritzes for both of us. I ordered the Spinach pappardelle, which was also delicious. But I also ordered the butternut squash & brussel sprouts side. The dish was to have za'tar, tahini and herbs. Instead another server set down a plate of bland mixed vegetables! I asked Bree when she returned, and she said there was a button for mixed vegetables and a button for sprouts and maybe there was a mix up, and she was going to check with the chef. After way too long, a plate of plain, maybe steamed Brussels were presented with absolutely no explanation. So I ate a couple--there was no seasoning to speak of on them. Once Bree returned, I told her that plate was wrong too, and she expressed confusion and then pretty much brushed it off as if the whole thing never happened. At the end of the meal, I asked for a box and said I'd season them and put them in my air fryer and she said "there you go." We were floored to see that the Brussels were still on the check, payment and tip collected, and not one word of apology. I was actually still hungry after the Spinach Papperdelle, and am very glad I ordered dessert!! I would said, as recently as Thursday (I had dinner there Thursday night too), that this kind of thing would never happen in a place like this. But maybe Wildflower is no longer a "place like this". Not minding something is not the same as liking it. I'm indifferent to it. The saving grace is it's pretty and I think that lets them off the hook with most people. This is a great spot for celebrating special occasions--it has a refined, upscale vibe without feeling pretentious or stiff. The updated menu offered more choices for me as a vegetarian who eats salmon and follows a gluten-free diet, which was a pleasant surprise. Our server was kind and professional, though the service didn't stand out as exceptional. That said, the appetizers were excellent--the aioli artichoke and the Brussels sprouts (which they kindly served with the bacon and Parmesan on the side to accommodate my dietary needs). The ahi tuna poke bowl was fantastic. They were out of white rice, but substituted black rice, and it actually worked really well. The salmon entrée, on the other hand, was a bit of a disappointment. While the fish itself was cooked beautifully, the cherry glaze was overly sweet and completely overpowered the dish--it felt like my salmon was "swimming" in it. I even had to ask for a new plate to separate it from the sauce. I'm giving it four stars mainly because of that glaze--I personally prefer my salmon more on the savory side. One more note: when we made our reservation, we were asked if we were celebrating anything, and I indicated it was a birthday. However, no one acknowledged it, which felt like a missed opportunity to add a special touch. Very cute restaurant, we're glad to have dined outdoors on the front patio. The indoors, while nice, felt overwhelmingly loud as we waited for our drinks at the bar. It was hard to hear each other. The drinks were well mixed, and the food was great overall! Some minor wishes to meals like my short rib ravioli could have used a tiny bit more salt and the macaroni could have benefitted from something textural. I loved the scallop dish and thought it was nicely balanced. The yellow tail crudo and smoked salmon hashbrowns were delicious! No notes there. Olive oil cake was also nice, I liked the acidity brought on by the raspberry coulis (would've personally loved more!) The service was also attentive. Would recommend! read more

Jesus is an INCREDIBLE server. We went to Wildflower with my one year old, which if you're a parent -- you know how stressful that can be. Jesus wasn't phased at all. He brought out rice for my son instantly so he had something to eat and keep him preoccupied. He always made sure all of us were food. We really really appreciated his hospitality. 12/10. That's how good his service is. As far as the food goes, incredible. The ingredients were great. The presentation was great. Everything was great. But what changed our lives was that chocolate dessert. I don't know what it was (I think it was seasonal for Valentine's Day), but that is hands-down, the greatest dessert we've ever had at any restaurant ever. I finally got to try this place on a work trip! It was everything I could have hoped for and more. I had a reservation for my coworker friend and I but she was tired at the end of our workday - I called to cancel about 15 min before our reservation time and put in an online order instead. I had the scallops and was not disappointed in the least. One could argue that scallops should not be ordered as takeout but ya gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes! And in this case it was a big 'W!' Their parking lot is adjacent to the lot that Whole Foods uses as well as Frost and a few other businesses so parking was a bit of a challenge. Not a big deal - can't wait to return! read more

A good sign I'm going to like a restaurant is how we are greeted when we arrive and this was a friendly welcome. The bartender Christian was a friendly and attentive man who was helpful in answering questions about cocktails. We chose to sit indoors but this place has a nice and inviting outdoor space. Wait staff very friendly- we were waited in by a very capable waitress who was being shadowed by Areisha (?). Food was fun and different- I had the short rib ravioli which was light and flavorful, my husband had fish and chips which he loved. I immediately noticed the warm and welcoming ambience as we entered the restaurant. The location has outdoor seating with misters. It was nice to see an accommodating outdoor seat option for the Tucson heat. I can tell you that I didn't sit outside in 106 degree weather. Wildflower's menu offers an array of menu options. After hearing menu recommendations from our server, I went with the Braised Short Rib. BTW... the server was ridiculously awesome! I don't remember his name but I remember him reminding me of George Michael, who I am a fan of. He was attentive the entire time we were at Wildflower. I haven't received restaurant service that good in a long time. The Braised Short Rib was ahhh! This translates to being so good I couldn't find the words. The beef was tender and the bordelaise added the perfect amount of sauce and flavor to accent the tenderness of the short rib. For dessert, I ordered Banoffee Trifle and ahhhh! Yes, another one! This dessert was absolutely divine. The Dulce de Leche mousse really elevated this dessert. It was smooth and decadent. The main reason I took off a star was for service. Our server felt robotic and lacked any personality. It was altogether a very uncomfortable experience. I don't know if she was new and unsure of herself, but she followed a very monotone script and delivered it with no personality. She was nice enough, but it was to the point of submission where I felt awkward as a customer. We ordered the lemongrass skewered scallops and pan roasted chicken. The scallops were phenomenal and it was the first time I had ever had soy butter. I would definitely order it again. Where the scallops were cooked perfectly and I would recommend, the chicken was dry and lacking anything special. A big selling point of Wildflower is that you can see in to their kitchen. It definitely falls in line with their marketed "new American cuisine" with "European influence". It's a beautiful space that I hope to revisit (and not order the chicken). read more

So we sat inside at the bar cause it was so hot outside. It took a while for the bartender to get to us - I'm sure he was busy attending his tables but it was too long that I had to look around and call for a server / bus boy to get us waters. So important in this hot heat... Eventually the bartender - a sweet and lovely man took care of us! Has been working at this location for a while. Had good recommendations food wise. Here is my sis in laws review and then there will be mine. Hmmm, the Mac and Cheese was immaculate 8/10! The Yellowtail Crudo was probably a 7/10. Yummy but it was a little tough and I wish it absorbed more of the sauce. The cauliflower was so good and healthy too! 9/10 And my dish, the salmon was good. But it didn't really compliment the salad. So I think it was like 7/10. Also, dessert! 9/10! I wish they gave a few more raspberries Mine - The yellowtail was like a 6.5/10... I didn't understand the crunchy and the over did it with the sauce. Like the sauce was too much. Presentation wise I feel like they just cut up pieces of fish and just threw it on the place along with the sauces. The Mediterranean cauliflower was a 9/10. It's always so yummy and even better the next day! Salad was good but the salmon threw it off... your salad was sweet and then the salmon was like warm and salty and I was like hmmm... A group of friends joined me and my husband to celebrate a birthday. Wildflowers a wonderful restaurant to celebrate any special occasion. I've been a customer for many years more recently. I've been coming for Valentine's Day with my husband and mother-in-law for the last three years. Enjoy the special smaller plates they offer for the event. Wildflower has a bar in the front that's open to the dining room, and on occasion I've come with no reservations for dessert and coffee at the bar. Wildflower has a consistent team of excellent staff that are generally dressed very elegantly in provide excellent service . The highlight of wildflower besides their crisp dining room space, is their excellent food. My first occasions dining here were in meeting a friend for lunch. I have such a hard time trying to order because everything looks so appealing. On the menu is a selection of wines, beer, and mixed drinks. I usually order a craft cocktail to start my meal. Last night I ordered the watermelon smash and it was only OK. I've had so many great cocktails it won't stop me from ordering something else in the future. Our meals started with two appetizers of hummus and their crispy calamari. After the meal ended, and I was driving home I was thinking the calamari was the best I've ordered all year. At our meal the plating of the dishes seemed to hide the exceptional food( the dishes didn't photograph well this evening). I convinced the birthday girl to order the spinach pappardelle, which I've enjoyed for lunch and dinner many times. It's such a great dish filled with flavor, texture from the tender chicken, pine nuts and the cheese and the green spinach pasta is outstanding. I ordered the Mediterranean cauliflower. You can add chicken or salmon to the dish for additional protein. This dish has quinoa, grilled cauliflower, mushrooms, hints of fruit and puréed sweet potato; a nice dish of flavorful items( that didn't make for an attractive picture this night, but is a tasty dish). A highlight is to get dessert. my favorite dessert here is bars of sin, which is a hazelnut mousse on top of a chocolatey crispy base, cut into bars and covered in a thin crispy chocolate shell, served with vanilla ice cream and raspberries. My top dessert in all of Tucson; I never can finish the whole thing and take half home. If you do decide to order this, I recommend you get a cappuccino to drink with it, because they serve great coffee and it's just a lovely combination. This evening, my husband ordered the freshly prepared cinnamon donuts served with custard and fruit compote. Warm and not overly sweet, the custard is just a perfect pairing. The patio spaces got a permanent cover over it which protects customers from the weather. The seating is padded chairs and is elegant. Our first Valentine's Day meal there it was so romantic, the edges of the patio are filled with plants that provide privacy from the customers at the Casas Adobes shopping Plaza. The inside as men's and women's restrooms. The ladies restroom has two individual roomy stalls, and is always very clean and well maintained. Wildflower is a Fox concepts restaurant and offers a dining Rewards's program, they also have special events to look for with three course meals menus for Mother's Day , Valentines Day, and so on. It was a beautiful night at Wildflower and one I will remember fondly! I was celebrating my 11 year anniversary with my husband and the staff went above and beyond to make our night special. The patio is LOVELY! Warm lighting and blush greenery made it feel intimate. Our serve brought us fresh bread that I had to make myself stop eating. We ordered a bottle of wine, the chicken pasta and short rib. The food came out in a timely manner, and it was divine! The chicken pasta was full of different flavors, the pasta handmade and to our delight wasn't heavy at all. The short rib was luscious; it was seasoned well and fell right off the bone. I enjoyed all the vegetables around the meat as well, they were caramelized to perfection. We had a WONDERFUL night and only wish I had room for dessert. If I had to give the tiniest bit of feedback I would say I wish I had more cushion in my seat. We sat in the long seat on the back wall. We took our time lounging after our meal and I would have wanted a bit more comfort. We will come back! read more

We were staying at the Westward Look for the final Wild Wild West Steampunk Convention and found this jewel of a restaurant. We actually came two of our four nights because it was so good and so easy. Service: amazing. Food: excellent.* Wine list and cocktails: superb. The second time we came, we sat on the patio. I lived in Tucson for a decade, and this is one of my favorite things about the Old Pueblo. It can be as hot as the "surface" of the sun all day, but when the sun sets, the air is like a warm cloud. *They do a really good job with gluten free, but some things aren't quite. They brought one of these meals with the cross-contaminated portion separate, but it would be a lot easier if dishes marked GF actually were. And I feel like it wouldn't be too much work to fry small things separately in a sauté pan rather than the gluten-laden fryer. read more

We had lobster artichoke salad, appetizer... calamari....and the fabulous cinnamon donuts for dessert. I would say it was chilly and asked them to turn up the temp. Best restaurant in Oro Valley! We moved here 3 months ago and have already been back 3 times it is THAT good! Ample parking out in front and back of the restaurant. Beautiful outdoor patio with heaters when it's chillier. We have sat inside and outside and loved both. Our server was Nathan for 2 of the 3 times we have been there and he's spectacular- attentive, funny, knowledgeable about the menu, he's great! Highly recommend the *paper plane* cocktail (off menu item) but it is AMAZING- amaro, Aperol, bourbon, and lemon juice! My favorite dinner item to get is the **SHORT RIB RAVIOLI** - HIIIIIGLY recommend!! It's cheesy and creamy but not over the top heavy. Our other favorite menu item was the **BACON WRAPPED PORK TENDERLOIN** WOWWWW that sauce and the pork tenderloin was cooked PERFECTLY, would definitely get again!! Filet mignon was also great, has a nice char on the outside and served on a bed of mushrooms, onions, and potatoes. The smoky bacon just made this a delicious pair. Scallops were nice too- the salad dressing and scallops paired wonderfully together. Crispy calamari is a nice starter- not too bready and yummy greens on top! Lobster & artichoke salad was delicious, if you like seafood salads. :/Spinach pappardelle was probably my least favorite item we've gotten there, it had roasted chicken, melted tomato, pine nut, grana padano and to me tasted a little bland so I probably wouldn't get it again. Brussels sprouts are also a great option for starters- nice glaze and DELICIOUS!! But, everything else from service to food to cocktails to ambiance, 100/10! The burger was sent back twice: once, for not omitting the cheese removal request, and the second time for it being not medium rare as ordered. The chicken potstickers are way too small for their price. Now the good: The pastas are good the strawberry salad was delicious. I really wanted to love Wildflower. I had a fun meal at the bar once so we tried it a few more times and each time had issues. This one in particular takes the cake. The menu is appealing, the space is charming, and I made a reservation a month in advance to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday -- a particularly important one, as it fell the day before her father's funeral. We were a party of six, and I had hoped for a thoughtful and smooth evening. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but. Despite planning ahead, we were crammed into an uncomfortably tight booth. Our waiter turned out to be the bartender -- a hard-working guy clearly stretched way too thin. He was trying to manage a full bar and our table on a busy Friday night, and it showed. He seemed completely overwhelmed, didn't connect with our table, and gave off nothing but stress. He disappeared for awkwardly long stretches, didn't engage with us at all, and we were left trying to flag down anyone just to ask for basic things -- like bread and drinks, which we had to request multiple times from whoever we could catch eyes with, since we clearly weren't on his radar. Even flagging someone down felt nearly impossible. Most of the staff seemed to be avoiding eye contact altogether. The restaurant was super duper loud -- not the kind of atmosphere where you can have a conversation, let alone celebrate a birthday. Our food took forever. We each had time for two drinks before our meals arrived- and we are not fast drinkers. The appetizers -- grilled artichoke, hummus, and potstickers -- were tasty but still took way too long to come out. When our entrées finally arrived, not all of them were hot, which made it clear the kitchen's timing was off. My chicken dish was completely inedible -- improperly cooked and had to be sent back. I was offered another glass of wine while I waited, which I wrongly assumed would be comped (it wasn't), and by the time my new plate arrived, the rest of the table had already finished their meals. My son's Mediterranean bowl, which we had requested dairy-free, was incorrectly prepared and had to be remade as well. It took nearly an hour for the corrected version to come, and when it did, it still wasn't right but we didn't have time to deal with fixing it. By the time my meal arrived -- nearly an hour later -- the rest of my family had long finished eating. The replacement meal was rushed and meh. Also the Brussels sprouts side were barely cooked and couldn't be eaten while squash was perfect in same dish? The fries were fries- top notch-- but that's about the only highlight. Pasta was good but my family was uncomfortable eating while not everyone was served so did not enjoy. Yes, they comped a few things. No, that didn't come close to making it right; we still paid over $300 for a dinner that was chaotic, mismanaged, and deeply frustrating. What should have been a 90-minute meal dragged on for more than three hours. The energy was off, the service was inconsistent, and the management decision to assign one bartender to a full table and the bar on a Friday night remains baffling. This wasn't just disappointing -- it was a bust. This place may have a solid menu, but it clearly can't handle a full house. It's unfortunate that what should've been a magical evening now feels like a story we're telling for all the wrong reasons. read more

I was checking out Yelp and it asked if I wanted to leave a review for Wildflower and I could not believe I had not done this yet. Let's talk about ambience first, beautiful inside, blue velvet and white, so classic, there's a temperature controlled patio that has so much green, and then there's a sidewalk level patio. I love this place. Everyone here is at the top of the professional scale for a restaurant. The food is outstanding. I have had the calamari (comes with a delicious sauce), all of their pasta dishes (my favorite was the bolognese.) I'll focus on my favorite, the lemongrass skewered scallops - so good! It has this soy butter with it. It's delicious. The short rib, I can't not mention the short rib because that's my second favorite with its delicious potatoes.
