For my 500th review, I will review Willys Greek diner in Anaheim.. I had heard that this was a great authentic Greek place in OC, and so I decided to do some investigation for my fellow Yelpers. I met the owners who are Greek immigrants from Istanbul. They told me about the history of Willy's eatery and all the different Greek dishes they sell, and special family recipes. The husband and wife couple who run this place are quite funny. The wife said that they do not serve any fries at their restaurant! I ordered the Gyros sandwhich and Avgolemeno soup. The soup was good, with just the right amount of chicken, broth, lemon and not too much egg flavor. The Gyros were quite tasty, but sadly, they weren't the Gyros you cut off of a spit. They were fried in front of me and wrapped in a pita sandwhich with Tzatzaki, onions, tomatoes and spices. The food here is good and its hard to find authentic Greek Diners in the LA area. They were so nice that they even gave me a piece of baklava when I finished my plate, The food here is very authentic and tasty, It feels like you are eating at your Greek Aunt's house in Mykonos. The friendly staff, good food and quaint atmosphere make Willys a great place worth checking out in the Anaheim area. read more

This little restaurant is nestled in a strip mall in Anaheim. Seems like a place where they have a lot of regulars. Guy behind the counter (maybe the owner) was really warm, friendly and welcoming. He made everyone feel like a regular. This is everything you want in a breakfast place. GLOY met up on a lazy weekday before a holiday, so it wasn't crowded. Chel and Gigi opted for the eggs bene. The runny egg on top was cooked perfectly. The hollandaise sauce was generously served over the eggs. This really was some good home cooking. "Those potatoes" were served with onions and peppers. This was highly recommended by the server. Belle had to order something different. Seeing corned beef hash on the menu, that was a must have. I paired this with over easy eggs. I wish I could have had a scoop of rice on the side, but I had to settle for a side of wheat toast. It was good. Nothing too fancy, and the serving sizes were just right. Chel treated us to a sample of the baklava. Sticky sweet with pastry and shaved almonds. Yummy! The prices were reasonable, which was even better! read more

Excellent little hole in the wall breakfast joint. The food was really good, the service was great and the price was fair. I got their famous eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint, However, I will admit I also got their French toast and for me that was the highlight! They were so fluffy, soft and delicious! Everything was great about this place except how packed and tiny it is. You will be eating elbow to elbow with everyone else so if you can just eat outside, unless the son is full blown hitting you in the face then just stay inside. read more

Thank goodness for Yelp! Came here to get a quick take out order on my lunch break. I decided to go with a chicken gyro that came with rice, hummus and lettuce of course with my choice of mararoni salad or potato salad. Brought the food back to my hotel and had only 10 minutes to eat! The gyro bread was warm and DELICIOUS and my gyro had the rice and chicken exploding out of it! I quickly ate as much as I could - i thought it was pretty tasty and the potato salad was good as well. I wasn't able to eat all of it so it was my appetizer for lunch the next day! Willy's Eatery is one of my favorite places to go for lunch. The five stars really boil down to the owners, a husband & wife team whose portrait graces the walls and really lets you know that they've been around for a long time. The service is impeccable, and it's always fun to hear the owner ask me, "what would you like today lady?" So sweet. I always order the Greek Gyro combo, which consists of a gyro sandwich and a Greek salad, but I always substitute baklava for the Greek salad because the sandwich is usually filling as it is. Their baklava is flaky and delicious - melts in your mouth and has the right hint of sweetness. Their gyro sandwich isn't served with a side of tzatziki like many of the other places I've been to, but they put a smear of sauce inside the gyro, which is so delicious and chock full of tomatoes, red onions and great slices of beef/lamb goodness. What made this place extra special - we came here for a coworker's birthday, and after letting the owners know this tidbit of information, they politely asked her what her name was - then surprised her with birthday pancakes complete with candle. We went here for lunch the other day and I have been told for months now that I needed to try Willy's. I ordered the vegetarian wrap and it was so delicious and hit the spot. I upgraded to a greek salad and couldn't even finish it. I am very excited to have this place down the street from our house. Great Greek food. Awesome baklava and a serious cute couple. Disappointed in myself for not even noticing this place before since I've been to the Pizza Hut/Wing Street next door several times already, but thank God for my coworker for finding this little gem of a place during one of our lunch runs. One day, coworker Bill came back to work with a couple of gyro sandwiches and after my first bite, I was sold. The next day, I had him take me to the place so I can check out their menu and get a business card. We've been regulars ever since (we've only known about the place for a little more than a week, but we've gotten food there 4-5 times already). Willy, the owner and his wife, Ann are a lovely couple. Very friendly and you can tell they run their restaurant through relationships. The time I came in, Willy spoke to several different customers (including myself), shook hands and chatted with them about how they've been, business and the likes. You can tell they were regulars when they can order by saying "Just get me the usual". The food is awesome. I've had their Gyro Sandwich, Chicken Ceaser Wrap and Willy's Greek Chicken Wrap with the sides of Potato Salad and Basmati Rice with broth. All delicious, made with fresh ingredients and most importantly, prepared with love. "Mom and Pop" as the other yelper's put it are right. Willy and Anne used to live across the street from me as I was growing up and I remember playing basketball with their son Arno, occasionally. I remember when they moved down the block and started this restaurant as they were so happy to have their own restaurant. I went there a few times as a kid and sort of forgot about the place. Time passed and I had to try it again as it was awhile since I have seen this great couple. They have good breakfast, and great chicken caesar wraps. You have the option of greek salad, macaroni salad or rice pilaf. I always switch it up. The rice pilaf is really good and the sauce they give you tops it off. Willy's has no gimmick. No over the top claims.. No smoke and mirrors. Just simple, good food. It's a humble little joint smack dab in the middle of a run down strip mall next to a car wash. It's ran by a Greek couple, Ann & Willy. Super nice folks. Chat up a conversation and let them know it's you're first time here, and she just might give you a taste of their famous Baklava... NO CHARGE. At least that's what happened to me. Super nice! Thanks Ann! And the Baklava is not overrated. Sweet flaky goodness. I've been here a couple times and every time I always get the GYRO. For lunch, the special is the way to go. About $7 bucks and it comes with a medium sized bowl of Greek salad. The salad itself wasn't too bad (olives were a surprise)... but you come here for the GYRO! That's it. It's simply simple.. but simply good. The Gyro can be a little bigger..but it will do for lunch. (More on that later.) But with the salad, this is a good meal for lunch. Make sure you ask for extra Greek Yogurt sauce on the side so you can lather more of this creamy goodness on top of the fresh ingredients. The meat is super fresh and shaved into just the right size strips. Clean and not oily. My gyros always come wrapped in foil and it's still piping hot. I can eat two of these, no problem. Probably the best tasting gyros in the OC. Notable: I've seen the Eggs Benedict and it's on my Food Bucket List.. Next time Willy's! In closing, I would like to direct this request to Willy. Willy's Eatery is a local establishment that has been in Anaheim for more then twenty years, run by Willy and his wife Ann. I've only had a few select items on their menu but everything I've ever eaten there has left me completely satisfied and full. I highly recommend their Gyro's which are absolutely delicious but if Gyro's aren't your cup of tea then I would definitely recommend their "Second Best" Chicken Sandwich! My favorite meal of the day is breakfast and at least two times a week I'll visit this place and order their excellent Ham and Cheese Omelet, with a side of hash browns with onions and sourdough bread. Prices are fair and reasonable especially since the quality of their cooking is top notch. The service is friendly and you'll usually receive a warm welcome when you enter and a sincere goodbye when you leave. If you've never heard of this place and if you've never tried it then do yourself a favor and treat yourself to it, you won't regret it! read more

Absolutely delicious! Came here today with my fiance after walking around downtown Disney for a while (never get lunch at downtown Disney because most likely you'll get ripped off) after searching places to eat around the area on yelp (yay, go yelp!) This place is located in a plaza with a car wash (this place is an easy miss) and with plenty of parking. There are limited chairs and tables inside the small place (and 2 tables outside). Right when we came in, we were immediately greeted by an elderly gentleman with menus laid out for us to look at on the counter. We told the guy that it was our first time here and came because of the reviews on line. He said since it was our first time, we get to have some baklava (very good! And it's their grandmother's recipe) for free. My fiance ordered the gyro and salad combo ($6.89 before tax) and I ordered a small Greek salad (the salad was actually pretty big for a small order and it came with warm pita bread). My fiance thought the gyro was really good because the meat was tender and had a good flavor. He loved the tzatziki sauce that topped the gyro. It wasn't too salty, watery or sour, but just went perfectly well with the meat. My Greek salad was tasty, loved the balsamic vinegar dressing and the sliced mushrooms. However, I think I would ask for the dressing on the side next time (although I don't know if that's possible because I have a feeling that the salad is premade ahead of time... something common most restaurants do). Overall, the pricing was very affordable and the service was very friendly and very quick! As soon as we sat down, after placing our order, we were served our food within minutes. Aww, Willy's. I used to come here every time I got my car washed next door. And the only reason I went to that particular car wash was because my friend worked there, so I got a discount. But I digress... I had the chance to eat at Willy's again this past weekend. It's still as great as I remember it. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap as usual, which is a pita stuffed with shredded chicken, Provolone cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. The wrap comes with a salad and is priced right at $6.49 (the wrap is a good size). The owners are as nice as I remember them also. I walked in and they said, "Welcome back; it's been a while," but I'm not so sure they remembered me as it's been years since I've gone to Willy's. Or perhaps they did remember! Awwww :) Romance aside, lets talk about food. 4.5 star rating? Hmmm, what am I missing? If I were to base this establishment on Customer Service, Heck I would give it a 5 star rating, the owners are sweethearts and did everything right from bringing my water to me, getting me extra sauce, heck even greeting me as I came and left. But, the food was honestly mediocre, or as yelp calls it, Meh. I've experienced better. I ordered the Gyro Plate, came with a salad, gyro and rice with some kind of beef broth on the side. The salad was browned and not very fresh looking, I had a hard time trying to fork my salad to I was basically scooping it to my mouth. The gyro tasted better than it looked but still, the meat, thinly sliced...maybe too thin, very processed looking and dry. I asked for extra sauce and poured it all over my gyro to help in the flavor department. This is as good as it gets for Greek. Owned by the most adorable Greek couple, they really make some good authentic greek dishes. And they seem to remember most of their customers. They welcomed me back the second time I ate here, which I thought was pretty dam cool. The lemon chicken soup was something I decided to tried on my return visit. This traditional dish is made of chicken, rice, and who knows what else. But it's creamy, and a little sour, and way delicious! It almost filled me up to the point where I could barely eat my gyro sandwich :( But I managed to get it all down :) The Gyro is pertty much the best thing on the menu. This beautifully made sandwich has just the right amount of yogurt cream sauce drizzled over the top accompanied by diced tomatoes and cucumbers. The pita bread is so fresh and tastey, it tastes like they make it themselves. But don't quote me on that. I'll have to ask the next time I eat there. But beware, Willy's is a hole in the wall so it gets busy during corporate lunch hour, but you must must must eat here if you like Greek food. read more

Gotta love mom & pop establishments that focus on just two things: - Food & Service The service was great; the older man behind the counter took our orders, giving us suggestions since he could tell from our long stares at the menu that we were first timers. He was very helpful and more importantly, didn't show any signs of frustrations with us taking over 5 minutes to order (which during lunch time is years). I decided to go with the ever popular Gyro Sandwich combo, which included a small greek salad and a drink. After I ordered, i found a space near the rear of the restaurant to sit, which was sort of like a counter, but facing the wall, not the kitchen. After a few short minutes, this kind speaking older lady handed me my salad and gyro sandwich. I took a few stabs of the salad as my appetizer and then bit into the gyro sandwich..... yum! The meat is very very tender, bursting with flavor. It reminded me of the gyro that I had eaten while in Santorini. The balance of meat with the fresh red onion, crisp cucumber and succulent tomatos made this an awesome lunch (or dinner)! The portions was pretty good too, stuffing my stomach and sustaining me until dinner time. Definitely a place to be considered a regular favorite of all. Overall, the food was pretty average. The soup was a bit bland. The gyros had a generous portion of meat, but the chicken gyro lacked flavor and I couldn't taste the vegetables, the garlic sauce, nothing. The chicken was super tender though. Definitely order the beef gyro if you come here. The meat is seasoned well. A gyro sandwich with salad will set you back about $7. My bf and I were staying at the Holiday Inn and Suites during our trip to Disneyland and I wanted somewhere tasty and convenient to eat for breakfast. I've found this place on yelp and off we went to the Willy's Eatery. I've read so many reviews about their famous egg Benedict and Gyro and that's exactly what we ordered. I hate to admit, but I have never had an egg Benedict in my life, so I don't have any other Benedicts to compare to. But I can admit that the egg Benedict at Willy's is definitely delicious! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was creamy and tasty. Oh, I can't forget "those potatoes" which is hash browns cooked with onions and bell peppers! These are the best hash browns I ever had. The gyro was also delicious, but too bad the meat isn't cut off from the spit like what I'm use to in Vancouver. I found this place on Yelp because my husband was looking to eat an authentic gyro. As you can see by the five-star rating, we got WAY more than we had hoped. Immediately upon walking into the quaint little restaurant my husband and I were greeted by who I assume is the owner's (Willy's) wife. She welcomed us warmly and asked about our daughter's name and age. She was thrilled to find out that our daughter shares the same name as her granddaughter. We took a couple of menus to a table and the owner's wife promptly brought us a high chair for the little one. As we were looking over the menu, Willy himself came over to our table and said hello, making a point to say hi to our same-named baby girl. Then off to cook our food he went. My husband ordered the Gyro Plate-- it came with a deliciously seasoned gyro, rice w/ broth, and a salad. He was beyond satisfied with all components! The moans and groans and smiles as he ate said it all. I ordered Willy's Greek Chicken Wrap. WOW! The warm pita bread perfectly housed the yummy chicken, rice, and hummus. My tummy was quite pleased. Before leaving, my husband stood in the LONG line that had developed while we were eating to buy some baklava. We got two orders with the intent of giving my grandma (a huge fan of the stuff) one of the orders. My husband ended up eating both orders. I was ready to have a great gyro after reading the reviews. I ordered the gyro and it came with a greek salad. The bread was fresh, but it contained a form of gyro meat I have never seen before. It was very thin and uniform, like fake bacon strips. The meat was supposed to be set off with vegetables right? I had about three cubes of tomato and a 1/2 table spoon on tzaziki sauce. I went to the counter and asked for another serving of sauce. After adding it I noticed the sauce had zero zip to it. It was like plain yogurt with some cucumber. I did not detect any spices. I ordered iced tea. When I told the owner the tea was low she said "Yeah hold on." She poured a coffee pot of tea into the tea reservoir. Even after it melted an entire cup of ice, it tasted very bitter and over drawn. My friend was meh over the chicken wrap she ordered. I *created* this Yelp account for the sake of reviewing Willy's. Willy's is a place that my family and I have frequented for over 10 years. And if we could, we'd eat here every day. They have photos up of their grandkids on the wall, making the atmosphere very family-oriented. I love them so much. BUT, staff and setting aside! The food is SO delicious. The chicken plate is delicious. The chicken is never too fatty, never too dry, never under or over cooked. It's always delicious. Same goes for the rice, oh gosh! And the pita. I'm no culinary expert, so it's hard for me to find the words to describe the insurmountable quality of food provided here. It's so flavorful and clean and all around fantastic. And since I went vegetarian, their vegetarian plate is my new fave! Try the baklava, I've never had any baklava so tasty and well prepared! PLEASE, if you get the chance, come here! Orange Coast Magazine gave this place highest praise on there eggs benedict. So of course, I had to cruise into this place & scope it out. It's a little mom & pop spot in a tight little plaza next to a car wash. The owners seem to be an older couple that actually gets down on the grill and show some personal pride in the magic that goes into there tasty bites. The eggs benedict for sure is no joke. I'll agree with the OC mag and let this place claim the best in the county. However, my all time favorite is in San Fran at a place called Sea Breeze Cafe, but thats another story all together. The owners a Lakers fan and even though the Lake Show couldnt make it a win win in 2011, Willy's Eatery did. read more

In an age when people take your order while talking on the phone here is a place run by Grandpa and Grandma who separately takes time to ask you how your meal is! It's a welcomed departure from the standard decline in customer relations. I asked what they recommended for breakfast and without hesitation they recommended the eggs Benedict. The meal itself was great. I've never eaten eggs Benedict and while I'm not a religious convert it was good. I recommend staying away from the plastic bottled orange juice which tasted less than fresh and a little bitter. On the front door they have a poster from the 80's with Brooke Shields modeling a Kronos Gyro. I'm not inspired by this poster because it's basically telling me the stuff is packaged and just being reheated. I've already eaten these at other fast food places and they are not that great and cost quite a bit of money. All in all good food with phenomenal friendly service. read more

But lets focus on what the restaurant has control over. The food is great. But, not everyone will get their food, at the same time. Amazing eggs Benedict, gyros, and baklava. It's a tiny Greek breakfast/lunch place in Anaheim but it's delicious. There's not much seating though, so it can get crowded. The gyros are wrapped in pita bread and they're incredibly flavorful and tender. Meat is well seasoned. All of the flavors complement each other well (I think it comes with a side salad.) Baklava was warm, sweet, and very flaky. The guy working there pulled them straight out of the oven for us. Overall delicious and I think the best breakfast place in OC. read more

This place is a real gem...hole in the wall with a very homely feel. The owners have been here for years, and you can tell they put a lot of love into their food. I've eaten here for the last couple days, and I tried a few things from their menu that have me salivating. Yesterday I tried their chicken sandwich with greek salad, and both were excellent! The sandwich had shredded chicken and was seasoned to perfection. The salad is perfect because it has a very light amount of dressing which is typical of proper greek salad. It was a great start, but I wanted to try their gyros.... The next day (today), I went here again for lunch and ordered the Gyro plate. This is not gyros on a plate, but actually a gyro pita sandwich with rice and salad. The salad as I mentioned was great, and the rice comes with a gravy that is incredibly savory! But it was the gyro that blew me away...perfectly warm and soft pita bread with thinly cut meat with excellent seasoning and sauce. What a treat! To finish the meal off, I had to try their homestyle baklava. It was fabulous, because it was sweetened only with honey and had a hint of cinnamon in the almonds. So as most people know, I'm not a big breakfast person, but I had to try Orange Counties number one voted eggs Benedict! When I called to place my order, the lady who answered the phone was very pleasant. She took my order even though it was 10 minutes till they open. When I went to pick up my food she was so nice and gracious and even gave me a taste of their homemade macaroni salad. The interior really makes you feel like you're in the New York deli. When I tried the eggs Benedict I realized why they were voted number one! The eggs were poached beautifully and the hollandaise sauce was perfect! Beware, the portions are very large! This is a "mom & pop" restaurant just like previous reviews mentioned... Very friendly environment and Willy is such a nice man as well as the ladies who work there....Most customers appear to be regulars because they would walk in the restaurant and immediately start a conversation with one of the workers. I had a Gyro Plate, one of the two weekly specials... I wasn't disappointed with my meal... But at the same time, it's not what I was expecting from reading other reviews... Maybe because this is only my 4th times having Greeks food so I didn't really know what to expect... While there, about 10 people came in to eat and 7 of them ordered the Chicken Plate (which was the other Weekly specials)... 2 ordered the Gyro plate... The chicken plate looks really good, so I really wanna try it the next time I'm there cuz I wanna know y so many people order it. I work in Anaheim and hardly ever eat out because I only get a 30 minute lunch and everything walking distance is absolute crap (McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, etc). So whats a girl to do when her Lean Cuisine frozen meal sounds a little less than appealing on a given day??? She Yelps!! Willy's Eatery came up on the first page of results and right away, it caught my eye because I had been craving Greek food for a while. All the reviews sounded fantastic, and there was a link to their website so within 2 seconds I'm checking out their menu. I decide on the gyro and greek salad combo, and call my order in. A woman with a thick Greek accent answers the phone, and right away I get a gut feeling that this is going to be good. She says it will be ready in 10 minutes. I get to the restaurant (cute little cafe located in a mini mall with plenty of parking) and pay for my food that is already waiting for me. I have a seat outside, and take a bite of the gyro. HOLY SHIZZZZZ. Absolutely amazing, neatly stacked with generous portions. The Greek salad was also super fresh and delicious. I was famished by the time I picked up my food but even then I didn't even finish my plate because there was so much food. Seriously, Papa Cristo's in LA is lucky that Willy's Eatery is another county or else they'd be giving them a run for there money. I have definitely found my new favorite place for lunch, and will be coming back here again very soon to try their wraps! read more

I visited Willy's during a family vacation to Disneyland. I was craving a gyro and it didn't disappoint. The food was made to order, nice and hot. The salad that came with the Greek combo was okay; I didn't care too much for it, but I still finished it. As I was scarfing down the gyro, I noticed articles on the wall touting the Eggs Benedict. Seeing that I was still hungry, I decided to give it a go. Though my Paleo diet, heart and body probably regrets it, it was by far one of the best Eggs Benedict I've had. Wolfed it down in minutes and washed it down with a tall glass of orange juice. Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. read more

You miss it if you aren't looking for it. It was beyond delicious. They are well known for their eggs Benedict and serve it with a variety of options. The smoked salmon option is amazing!! The hollandaise is so light you'll eat the whole thing. read more
