Solid food and service. Very convenient. It's my new "go-to" chinese "to-go" restaurant in the Glen Park, Sunnyside, Ingleside, City College, Diamond Heights, Maraloma, Twin Peaks area. I got burned by one restaurant on Monterey Blvd that used to be my family's regular restaurant of loyal choice, but had horrible customer service (they hung up the phone on my 2x upon trying to inquire, and they didn't speak English) so I searched for an alternative, finding Win Garden. Win Garden was a good experience. The only downside is parking might be tough since it's near the Glen Park Bart station and the retail area... but if you're willing to walk, it's worthwhile. read more

Finding good Chinese food in San Francisco is like finding good pizza in New York. Where has Win Garden been all my life? I tried this place on a wim because they had good deals on lunch specials and I have been hooked ever since! The quality and technique is present in all their dishes. My favorites are, Hong Kong style Crispy noodles, sweet and sour pork, mapo tofu and the must have Dry braised pork! Another one of my foods of choice during covid. I really enjoy eating at the Glen Park Recreation Center, and Win Garden is so conveniently close by! I've had the best luck when I come here on the weekends for lunch. Their weekday hours are a little unpredictable, so just come on the weekend to be safe. The coolest thing about ordering your food here is that there is a nice division between you and the cashier. When you pick up your food, there is a drawer that pops out so that you never have to step inside the restaurant. I like getting the lunch special. Either the Kung Pao Tofu or the General Tso's Tofu is good. I switch between the two depending on my mood. read more

In the past I had a rotation of Chinese restaurants that each had one or two items I enjoyed. Win Garden has been a hit on multiple items including, Wor won ton soup -great simple broth full of meat, shrimp and dumplings, pork potstickers, minced chicken w/lettuce cups, kung Pao chicken and kung pao shrimp, crab rangoon, mu shi anything, fried rice and chow mein delicious, and a sweet and sour pork reminiscent of my childhood Chinese restaurants Tao Tao in S.F. and King Wah in Daly City. We love Win Garden! We've been on the hunt for good Chinese food in the Bay Area and we are almost always disappointed. It's difficult to find good quality Chinese food but Win Garden has many good options. I never thought much of wonton soup but there's is incredible! I didn't expect to be so blown away by a simple soup. Some dishes can be a little oily but that's true of any Chinese food I've ever had. I'd prefer less but it's par for the course. The most unprofessional delivery service I've ever experienced. Apparently Eat24 sent a courier from the restaurant to my address, and the worker was under the impression that he was entitled to a cash tip. Tips are optional, and a courier can't demand specific tip payment. He just left my residence with the order, having texted that I wasted his gas and can feel free to pick up the food. Umm, fuck you. Update: I've spoken with Eat24. They will deal with the restaurant, and they are canceling my order as well as providing a $10 credit toward my food purchase from a professional business. -- Update: Restaurant suspended from Eat24. I don't think I was looking for anything special when I got off at the Glen Park BART station, just something for dinner on one of my solo nights when Jamie W. was busy being civic minded. Me, I get busy eating something he probably wouldn't want anyway. I was strolling along Diamond eyeing several places crowded with lingering diners and just happened upon this nondescript Chinese restaurant by accident. We came in for lunch on a Saturday and it was bustling but it wasn't crowded. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but I was quite displeased with the food. We had the mango chicken and the garlic eggplant. The mango was fine but the chicken was, like, not chicken. It was gross (consistency) to chew. The eggplant was hard and not flavorful. These dishes were part of the lunch special, which includes soup (hot and sour when we were there...that was fine), white rice and salad. If you want fried rice or chow mein, you can pay more. I wish I had read more carefully about the salad, because I would have asked for the dressing on the side. I didn't care for it. Came here with my aunties as we were meeting a friend from San Francisco for lunch and this place is a Win-Win situation as it is close to Bart, about 2 blocks or so and it is comfy and the food is delish! We each ordered a dish and so we had crispy chow mein noodles with seafood and vegetables, fried calamari, Westlake beef soup and minced chicken in lettuce wrap! Been going to this location for many years now. It's just unfortunate that they are doing take outs. But at least I can still enjoy their food either by calling in to order ahead or via grubhub if they are busy to pick-up. You know it's a legit place when they are busy even for pick-up. I ordered dinner for delivery from this restaurant and the estimated time is 60-70 minutes. The delivery is about 10-15 minutes later than estimate which is less ideal but the foods were very good so my hungry stomach didn't complain too much. The foods arrived hot which I loved. The portion was good size as expected for a Chinese restaurant and full of flavors. I got their Singapore noodles, basil chicken without spicy, Mongolian beef, and shrimp with snap peas. Located in Glen Park near the Bart station, this Chinese restaurant seems to have the locals coming back. Seeing as it's on the narrow and winding Diamond Street, street parking is sparse, but there is a small lot across Chenery St behind it. Bart really puts this little strip of restaurants on the map, as well as a couple Muni lines. The interior was quaint like many traditional Chinese restaurants. They have quite a few larger tables; I wouldn't be scared to come here with a group of about 8 or less. We went on a Wednesday evening and I'd say it was about 60% full. They have complimentary tea, upon request. We ordered beef chow mein, kung pao chicken (I highly advise), and an eggplant dish. The veggie dish ended up being my favorite. It was pretty oily like most Chinese food, but not overwhelmingly so; and it was very tasty. Our waiter was attentive and did not leave our water glasses empty.
