It was probably 1 year of happy membership and 6 months of "please cancel my subscription" Because you don't have the option to cancel online, you either have to call or write an email. All my emails get answered with "well you can just skip another month!" No... I want to CANCEL. I've been falsely charged because they wouldn't cancel my subscription. I'm STILL in the process of trying to cancel. Wines are meh at most. Taste like the $5-$8 bottles you can get at the store. Excellent service and wine from a trustworthy business. Decided to try them out and didn't regret it. They sent very nice wines. I had to cancel the service after my introductory shipment for personal reasons, but cancelling was a breeze. Overall, this is a good way to experience a variety of wines that are pretty much exactly as marketed. For the price, the wine quality is totally solid if slightly better than what you would get for paying $12 in a grocery store. As some other commenters have noted, they do exclusively provide Winc branded wines, but they are pretty up-front about that as you view their selection. Cancelling the subscription took me less than 2 minutes with the online chat feature, and while the support team member did ask if I would prefer to skip a month they were in no way pushy or rude. It was honestly one of the easier cancelling processes for a subscription of this type. I would have left a better review but I canceled the subscription right after I sent my dad his father's day wine ( which they say you can do! It's one of their selling points.) They recieved my cancelation and acknowledged it. I moved on. Then they kept charging my card. When I asked them to refund the money they did not have permission to take they pretty much told me that because I didn't respond to them after they said they would cancel it then it wasn't canceled. They even went as far as making sure to charge my card the day I reached out and said to AGAIN cancel. I am now disputing it with my credit card company. Customer service for me has been great. They were able to stop a delivery which I did not want before it reached my front door. I love getting wine packages and love the option to skip without penalty. I don't do it every month as I feel my diverse taste for wine is not always captured in their selections. I just got off the phone with Pam. She resolved my issue, same call and within minutes. I'm just so happy with her service and the questionnaire that I received from Winc that I wanted to share on yelp review. I initially called to cancel my membership because of the previous representative's mistake. I liked that Pam listened and solved the issue; same call. (I didn't have to repeat myself) after the phone call, I recieved an email to rate Pam's service. It took me to a new window and of course I gave her 5 stars. Joined off the back of Covid and not knowing when or how I could get to a liquor store. I have since cancelled but more so because I wanted greater choice and to support my local community liquor store. Pros: Convenience of getting wine delivered to your door each month, very easy to navigate, great customer service, quick shipping, decent prices, pretty labels. Cons: Not so much variety, some of the wines I enjoyed I wasn't able to purchase when the next month came around which was a bit annoying, the quality of the wine itself is pretty average. I think it's fine for the average person but if you know about wine i'd say you'd be disappointed. I dare say you could get better wines for the same price at the liquor store, and greater choice. Worst experience ever! Customer service needs a total overhaul..they don't know the difference between the purchaser and the recipient, which was beyond irritating for both of us. They first indicated that they could hold my "surprise" gift for pick up in Boston, but I live in Chicago After many confusing emails, and customer service calls, the purchaser (my very thoughtful sister) gave up and canceled the order. Companies that have integrity, respect their customers, and believe in their product don't make it as difficult as possible to unsubscribe. You can click around Winc's website all you want, but you'll never find an unsubscribe button. Eventually you'll google how to unsubscribe and find that they require you to call or chat with a representative during business hours. Then you'll find that the representative gives you the runaround for a while before allowing you to cancel. These are scummy cable company tactics. You can't do much about your cable company because they are a monopoly. But you can, and should, buy wine anywhere else. read more

I do not write many reviews, but was really disappointed with my experience in getting support with Winc. Trying to cancel a monthly subscription has been a challenge and still not sure if it has gone thru. In my latest support interaction, they seem only interested in landing new customers, but supporting existing customers is an afterthought. Interaction was odd, as I mentioned a discount code I received and then customer support had indicated that was only for new customers. I lookin in my emails and had another code they sent and again, support said that was only for new customers. I had placed a couple of orders, but spent a lot of time trying to place an order to use my existing balance and then to cancel. Very disappointed in the process to cancel and have seen many other comments on the challenges to cancel. There should be a 0 star option for situations where customers cannot get the support to stop future charges. read more

I like wine but never really know what I'm getting into so having styles picked out for me was a nice perk. Being able to skip months or pause your membership is only a few clicks and reminder emails came on time before being charged. I liked to rack up my credits and then buy a case at a time to receive the 12 bottle discount which also comes very safely packed. If I could leave a negative 1 star I would. This company will charge you long after you cancel your membership. Go look at the complaints from others on the Better Business Bureau website. There are about 60 other complaints in the past couple years for the same thing. I am one of the few that "caught" that they were charging me. I've been a member now over 6 years. These are good, over-average drinking wines for fair prices compared to local stores. Some are certainly better than others, but most fall into the 3.5-4.2 average rating. Delivery is convenient. Customer service has been exceptional the few times I've needed them. One caveat is that you cannot place your account on hold more than skipping current (next) monthly shipment, so you always need to pay heed to the advance notice emailed out regarding upcoming shipment and log in to skip it each month if you want to pause for a while. It's nice you can swap out or add additional bottles to your monthly selected shipment whereas some other memberships do not allow that. read more

Winc has enjoyable wines across a nice spectrum. Prices were reasonable. Staff is very friendly. My only gripe with the service was only being to skip one month at a time. You're supposed to get emails BEFORE your order is processed, so you can customize your wine selection or choose to skip a month. There were several months where I did not receive an email at all, but since I always received it on the 19th of the month, I made sure to customize my order or skip if needed before this date. This month, I did not receive a "customize your order" email again... and my order shipped early, on the 19th. I live chatted with support and Joanna agreed to refund me the $59 and told me to keep the wine so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping to return the order. 10 days passed and I didn't see the refund in my account, so I emailed support making sure the refund was initiated. They replied saying they could partially refund me since I kept the wine... Um... what?? So, not only had they not even started the refund process, but it was not for the agreed upon amount. I hopped on live chat again to clear things up, thinking it would be no problem since I had the previous chat transcript where I was told I could keep the wine and would get a full refund. Nope. Lance kept saying my "best option" was a partial refund since I kept the wine. I told him several times that Joanna told me to keep the wine, but he just kept saying, "I am sorry for your confusion," to which I kept saying, "Are we looking at the same chat transcript???" I wanted so much to like this company, but after this experience... needless to say, I cancelled my membership. read more

Winc, formerly Club W, is a wine subscription box. Their wine service is offered to those 21+ (remember you will need to sign for your box upon arrival). Essentially, you take their survey and they recommend wines based on your answers. Step 1- Quiz Example quiz questions include: Do you like-black coffee? Do you like earthy flavors? Do you like citrus? Step 2- Recommendations You then get to choose your wine based on their custom recommendations (easy-peasy). You can opt out of their recommendations and pick your own selections. We did a mix of their recommendations and our own selections. This method is helpful when you're in a wine rut and find yourself choosing the same wines every time. Step 3 - Shipping They offer $6 flat shipping for 3 bottles. Or, you can get free shipping if you add a 4th bottle (which is what we did). The wine is then shipped to your house. Again, someone 21+ needs to be there to receive/sign for your box. I ended up shipping mine to the office and everyone enjoyed looking at the wine with me. Step 4 - The Box / Our Experience I'm happy we gave this a shot. We really enjoyed the information cards with recipes that were sent with each bottle (see photos for cards and packaging). Although this is a monthly subscription box, you have the option to skip a month or cancel. Our Winc Box was a nice experience and we enjoyed a few of the bottles (we gave a few away as gifts). Some of the bottles weren't great. None of the bottles we sampled were 'out of this world' good. We ended up ordering two months worth of 'A-Ok' wines. We ended up canceling after 2 boxes. Got involved through emptyfaces, a type of boardgame. Pretty disappointed with my first 4 wines that they picked based on my responses. Canceling is a bit of a hassle as you have to go through an agent to do so. The agent I conversed with offered a deal to keep me aboard, assuring me "they can do better" and thus I divulged my tastes in wine to her in hopes of greener pastures. This was only yesterday, so I have not received the other wines as of yet, but that will determine my continued patronage. I do not know how i got this membership and i do not know how this membership works because out of nowhere i received an email that my shipment was on its way!.. ..no email to pick my wines or an email to say my shipment would be ready soon. No just an email to say the wines were on the way with a charge on my visa . I tried to contact the winc customer service and the emails are sent back to me undeliverable, the phone hours are limited so they are hard to reach, and the site says to text...well those hours are limited too. So now i have a box of wine being delivered, my account closed, and customer service telling me i owe$ 68 for this shipment and no other orders will be shipped..... ..what ever happened to the customer is always right???? Had an issue with a wine shipment that was damaged in transit. I spent at most 5 min on their live chat and the Winc staffer made arrangements to have my order promptly reshipped. Winc is a convenient service and a great gift idea, however they undermine their business model by occasionally shipping undrinkable wine. As the gift giver I am often called over when a bad wine arrives. I'm asked to sample and determine if the wine is indeed undrinkable. If it is, I am the one who pours it down the sink. This is not an issue of taste, rather there are truly low-quality wines shipped. One had the color and taste as if normal wine was cut with water. I had never seen anything like it in years of wine drinking. As a result, the recipient of the gift now jokes that Winc is a scheme to launder undrinkable wine by cutting it into a normal monthly supply. This is not what a gift-giver wants to hear. Conversely, some wines are fantastic. Unfortunately we've found that those have often sold out, meaning a repeat is not possible. Thus, we're forced back into the wine lottery. The solution is to join a local wine club that allows us to taste before buying at the same price. We live in California after all. If that works out we'll transition from Winc. I just started as a customer of this wine club and already love it. I've tried other wine clubs in the past and found the wine to be blah. This wine is terrific thus far. Each "box" or shipment is standard 3 wines per month selected for you based on your palate preferences. This is determined via a simple 5 question survey you take based on your likes and dislikes. From there 3 bottles are sent to you monthly based on your preferences - you can choose 2 white 1 red, 2 red 1 white, all red, all white, whichever. You can even up the number of bottles per box as well. The club will automatically send you a new box every month unless you go into the portal and select "skip this month". It's pretty simple to skip in case you decide you don't need a box or you have the flexibility to also add more wine as needed. I'm looking forward to this monthly treat and at prices around $40 per box (3 bottles at $13 each) it's a good deal and a fun surprise when receiving. UPDATE: My husband and I have had two of the three bottles received - both have been outstanding! I like Alchemist Red Blend the best thus far, though the BeatBox Red was very juicy fruit forward. What a f*cking scam. I ordered wine once, and now I am being charged monthly. Their hope is that consumers will not notice. I wonder what % of people who order wine notice this monthly charge. For sure well below 100% and that's how they make their cash flow. Every month draining $59.95 from "customer" pockets. There was no indication on my original purchase that I am signing up for a monthly membership. I'd never agree to that! I called customer service for a refund and they tried to tell me its nonrefundable. I had to yell at them to get my money back.
