First of all, a great thank you to Windowology for building such a great team of staffs! My husband and I were amazed by how their staffs took pride in contributing their role in their company. Every staff we worked with, we had an extremely stress free experience. Phil - the designer was very down to earth honest (like the family man character) on assisting us in picking out the design and the material that shoot our need and our budget. The installers - Ed T., Matt, and Khalid; were very professional and hard working employees. They were polite, respectfully of our home, took great pride of the whole workmanship of the installation (we felt like it was their own house! They ran into a problem where Toll-Brother - the builder did not built a level window sill and it effected the installation of the shutter. Instead of rushing through the job, Ed and his team took their extra effort to get us the best result) and most of all leave us a very "CLEAN" job. We could not find any flaws when we do a walk through at the end. Lastly, with Claire - office administration staff was very courteous and friendly. Our project was pretty large. We did all the windows and doors of our 3,000sq foot home in shutters. Tracy and Alan helped us settle on a style, color, and also an upgraded window sill that looks fantastic! So glad we took their advice and went ahead with the upgraded sill. I was referred to Window-Ology by a friend and boy am I glad she told me about them. I was shopping for window treatments for five windows in my new home that we had just remodeled. Tracy came to the house and was so helpful. I had used a decorator to help me with all other aspects of the home remodel so I really appreciated Tracy's advice. She even suggested we look at the front window from the outside to make sure we liked the way the color looked from that perspective. My window treatments were ready quickly (before I was because I needed touch up painting from where the old miniblinds had been installed). They gladly held my order until I was ready. I told Alan I wanted to write a review of my experience hiring his company to make my shutters. Here it is: My experience with purchasing plantation shutters is probably more than most people because I have now order them four times for different windows and even different homes. Prior to having Alan come out to my current home I took the time and had three other companies come out and give me an estimate. This is the first time I looked into multiple shutter installers as to whom to hire. I am so glad I did because what I quickly learned, it isn't so much about the price even though that can vary drastically, for me it was the approach in making sure the custom shutters were made the best way possible to enchance the windows and living space. Blind cord broke on expensive pleated blinds. We wanted the blinds to remain uniform throughout the house and Window-ology replaced the headrail and internal parts for a fraction of having to replace the set. The blinds work great! We looked at a few different places for vertical blinds for our slider and were very disappointed with the selection and quality of the products we found. We went to Window-ology and were extremely impressed with their customer service and the variety of products that they carry. Alan was wonderful and showed us so many options for covering our sliding glass door. We purchased a beautiful cornice to cover our verticals, that we did not see anywhere else we had looked. We love the color and texture of the new blinds, they look like drapes, but are made of a rugged vinyl. I would never buy window coverings from one of the chain stores after using Window-ology and seeing how much more they have to offer. We just had Window-Ology put in cellular up/down shades in our house. The shades themselves are beautiful in color and texture and great functioning. We worked with Allen and Sabrina and they both were so friendly and helpful. They took a lot of time on the measurements and they couldn't have been more perfect. The shades fit the windows like a glove. We were going to just have one small window done but after talking with Sabrina and going over all our options, we ended up doing the whole house and we're very glad that we did. I can't promise you that window-ology's prices are better than anyone else's. But their service is incredible. We bought electric blinds from them two years ago. To this day whenever we have any issues with the blinds they come out very quickly and resolve all problems. Yesterday, James from Window-ology came to our house to replace a defective motor in one of the blinds. Rather then just stick the new motor in and leave, he spent a great deal of time going around to every window and ensuring that everything was operating properly. This is the company that Costco chooses for their window coverings. I would not recommend this company at all. I had to call to see about the status of my order after more than a month of waiting. They said there was some question about my order and would call back. Later that day, they called to make an installation appointment. On the day of the installation, at the time of the appointment, they called to cancel and tell me that they were not sent the correct items. They needed to re-order and the earliest appointment was another 2 weeks away. So that's a problem with their customer service. They did come to install at the new appointment. However, the installer screwed into drywall without any additional support and it is not holding up. The screws are pulling out of the drywall. My husband is heading out to the hardware store for some drywall anchors. I am very disappointed for the amount of money that was spent on this order and the installation was sub-standard. read more

We were looking to replace blinds and shades in our newly bought house. We decided to take quotes from Costco and Window-Ology and found several advantages for going with Window-Ology over Costco. First Window-Ology has the show room where you can check how products look and feel after being installed. When we visited showroom we were greeted by Ryan - nice, friendly and patient young man who gave us the lengthy presentation about what can be done and how much it may cost and then was eager to come to our house the next day to take measurements and give us a quote and what is important - later we were communicating over e-mail. Costco does not have show room - their rep showed us some samples and generic Douglas-Hunter prospects with small size pictures (it was all she were offering). Then with Costco everything was long process and lack of communication - It took couple of weeks for Costco rep to come and even when she came she forgot to bring some samples and then we had to wait several more weeks for another appointment and so on - no e-mail communication (even though I gave her our e-mail address and specifically asked her to provide a detailed quote - Ryan from Window-Ology sent us detailed quote the next day). I felt that with Costco customer service will be terrible and we have to wait weeks to accomplish simple things. And after all Window-Ology had simply had better choice of products not available at Costco. E.g. we liked S-shape horizontal blinds at Window-Ology show-room - style Costco did not offer. Window-Ology also offered the better choice of rolling blinds and shades. The price quote from Window-Ology came up slightly lower than Costco too. Best thing about Window-Ology though is how professional, friendly and quick they are. Everything is done next day. E.g. I found that one of louvers is defective and brought it to their showroom for replacement. It took them about 15 minutes to make the replacement and give it to me. I can imagine with Costco it would take a month or so to replace anything. Several times I called Window-Ology about adjusting installed blinds and shades and every time without questioning they scheduled appointment next day for installer to come and adjust. read more

I had my shutters with window-Ology more than ten years ago with a different owner and loved the quality and fast service! However, I used them again less than a year ago and noticed after one of my living room shutter was installed, it was chipped paint and the single panel looked like it was not done to be installed. I would not have notice it if I had not opened my panels and I was upset that they installed it without noticing it because it is pretty obvious and I think they ignored it! When I called the owner he acted like very surprised and took a while to get back to me and when he did, he ended up ordering me the wrong color! Mine is white and he ordered beige or biscuit color. Anyways, I am very disappointed and will not use their business again. I had shutters from Macys before and never experienced anything like this. I only used them because I was saving money but If I knew I was going through this much trouble, I would have paid the extra bucks to get Macys with much better quality shutters. read more

I had a bad experience and the woman that works in the front whose name is Corrie, I believe, made matters worse. I brought in my blinds to repair. Picked them up and had to take them back because the repair process obviously had been started but never finished. They agreed that the repair was not finished and apologized. They repaired them in house this time and once again when I got them home they were not done. I went back a third time then received a voicemail that they were ready only to find out upon arrival that pick ups are not done on Saturdays. How was I supposed to know? The rude woman, Corrie called on Monday and said she understood that I was upset that I came in on Saturday and couldn't pick up my blinds but it wasn't her fault because she always tells people the hours but she was getting a refrigerator repaired. I explained that I had been there 7 times and that I was unhappy with the customer service and asked if I could have a refund or if they could deliver them. She curtly told me no that they had gone above and beyond for me and they were paying their in house repairmen out of their pockets and not making any money. I replied that didn't benefit me but covering for themselves. If it was my business, I would have requested my money back from the repair company that they mailed them to the first time. I told her that I would make my 8th trip in to get my blinds when I got the chance. A few minutes later she called and said she spoke to the owner and they would deliver my blinds to which they did and they are repaired perfectly. read more

My wife and I bought a brand new home in Pleasanton from a builder. As with all new constructions, none of the windows had any coverings. Our home also had many windows, more than 40! We were really worried about the size of the job and more importantly the cost. We looked on Yelp and called several companies including Window-ology to get quotes and see what they had to offer. This window treatment company has done a great job to my home. We had beautiful shutters installed as well as draperies with tassels which gave our formal living room a very dramatic look. Yvonne helped us out a lot and went beyond the call of duty. I have no experience in picking out what looks good and what the current trends are of today. When friends come by to visit, the first words I hear are "WOW"! Window treatments definitely makes a huge difference to the home. We also had roman shades (the waterfall style) installed in our master bedroom which gave it a very dreamy look as the layers cascades down. We also had top down, bottom up shades in our master bathroom and the overall look is just perfect. These shades made our master bathroom look like you would see it in a vogue interior fashion magazine. For our kids' room, we picked honeycomb shades and they're so easy for kids to operate. The workers who installed our treatments were very nice and if we saw anything that didn't look right, they fixed it with a smile. I did not hesitate at all to tell them if something did not seem right, communication was so easy. They are number 1 in customer service, that's why we chose them. read more

About 9 years ago we used this business to replace all the blinds in our home. We bought the honeycomb soft pull-up blinds. Since our purchase we have had to have many of the blinds restrung and some restrung 3 times. Each re-stringing cost between 55 dollars and 79 dollars. There is something seriously wrong here. Before this we bought blinds from One Day Blinds and Home Depot and they lasted for over 20 years with no need for restringing The staff at Windowology says blinds are like cars and need maintenance. Largely, this is nonsense. There is no way expensive blinds should require so many restringings with ordinary use - meaning raised and lowered once per day. They are either selling an inferior product or there is something wrong with the way they restring blinds. As it turns out, we are far from the first dissatisfied customers with respect to the restringing problem. My advice, stay away. read more
