Lovely setting but honestly the most disappointing dining experience I have ever had. The oysters were less than a teaspoon size as were the clams but at least they were exorbitantly expensive and the broth tasteless. Had a "special " dinner for my October 2023 birthday. Except it was especially bad. My halibut dinner was served almost raw with no flavor whatsoever. I asked for it to be cooked more and it was returned burned. Needless to say, I had no dinner that night. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful but the food is sorely lacking. Need to step up the service, our waiter was average, never told us his name and wasn't very attentive. My cocktail was flat the waiter took it back and got me another one. Don't order the clam chowder it wasn't a cream base, it was broth and too salty. The lobster meat was terrible over done. Went Saturday night with a dear friend for dinner and wine. We made it in plenty of time for sunset watching too. We started with a bottle of Halter Ranch Cabernet and Duck Bruschetta. It was amazingly good and perfectly cooked. We split this and then split the 14oz Signature Ribeye. I ordered it black & blue. As an original Texan this means charred with grill marks on the outside, which sears in the amazing fired flavor, & is rare to medium rare by the time you cut into it. It too was extremely good. We then completed our meal with the Chocolate Tart. My friend had a dessert glass of Late Harvest Sav. Blanc and I had a local port. What an amazing meal.... We stated "it's ok well just have a glass of wine and be on our way", a young male employee turned our attention to him due to stating "NO WAY MAN (giving the gesture of the kill switch, finger across his neck) we're closing, it's not happening". We turned our attention back to the hostess and thanked her for her kindness and left. Clearly the rude young man is green when it comes etiquette and perhaps needs to pursue a profession that meets his customer service skills, such as a bouncer at a bar? The view is amazing and the wait staff is friendly and welcoming. The prices are the highest of any restaurant in Morro Bay. We were willing to pay those prices as we were celebrating special event. However, the inflexibility of the chef really creates problems. I DESPISE cooked spinach. I realize it is cheap and in season right now but it is the side being offered with most fish dishes. I tried to see if I could have one of the other sides offered on the menu but I was told the chef would not allow that. I wanted to try Sea Bream (a fish served whole) but didn't want it looking at me. The chef refuses to remove the head before serving. My husband had scallops and they did an amazing job cooking them. However, the chili sauce it came in was overpowering and the polenta bland and grainy. The lack of flexibility on the part of the chef likely contributes to the #10 rating on Yelp. I have never before eaten in such a high priced restaurant where the chef was so unwilling to accommodate the patrons. This is THE restaurant to go to if you are looking for a fine dining experience with a view! The restaurant is the embodiment of refinement through simplicity. I love that the decor is so understated here because with almost every seat in the house having some view the windows overlooking the harbor and Morro Rock, you are not going to be looking around inside! The service here is also impeccable! We had reservations and were promptly seated when we arrived. Our drink orders were immediately taken and I liked that they explicitly ask if you want water due to the drought. Their water is fantastic btw, as it has cucumbers in it, giving simple house water a nice little refreshment. The food here is outstanding and the prices definitely reflect the quality. We had the abalone as an appetizer and it was fantastic! I paired this with a half glass of their Moscato D'Asti. I had the rare Fijian Ahi for my entree and it was beyond words! The wasabi glaze and sides it came with were just exquisite! I paired this with a half glass of their Gewurtztraminer. Our waitress was just delightful and she did us a solid as there were four of us collectively celebrating our birthdays in Jan, Feb, and March, so she gave us complimentary bday desserts, which were just outta this world! The lemon mousse was a revelation to my tastebuds! I paired this with a syrah port that was amazing! I absolutely loved that they offered half glasses of some of their wines as this really allows you to experience some extraordinary wines without overwhelming your palate or your wallet. They have an in-house Somm who used to own the local wineshop and he has put together an impressive wine list and offerings on their prix fixe menu. A life long Alaskan, I tend to be a seafood snob. I was predisposed to wan towards some grass fed meal from the hoof. A server suggested the scallops and the halibut as having come in fresh that day. Fresh is good? The halibut was wonderfully NOT overcooked, on a bed of spinach, there was a sprinkling of garnish made of capers, exotic shrooms and olives. It was the tenderness that got me, not the accoutrements. The scallops were the best of the two. Wonderfully tender and as the halibut NOT Overcooked. The asparagus wad both crunchy and tender at the same time. There was a hint of grill? Or smokey? Hint to the flavor. The dice was lightly mixed with ... Parsley? I did did not partake in the bread pudding but the beautiful wife said shed order it again. So. Food 5 stars. Perfect location for a nice dinner while watching the sun set behind Morro Rock! My wife walked in to Windows in the early evening probably a bit under-dressed (we were in comfortable casual/athletic clothes). The hostess warmly greeted us and offered us a choice of tables at the window. The food prices were relatively high, but our meal was delicious. We started with some local caught oysters on the half shell with their sake dressing. Nice different twist to traditional raw oysters. We followed with the Caprese salad (a great combination of flavors). We split a cioppino and a rib eye steak for our main. Despite being totally stuffed, we made space for the Lemon Mousse which was delicious. Windows on the Water is a great spot for a special occasion meal. Went here for my birthday so it's a special occasion kind of place- not a place you would go to every time you want to go out for dinner. It's a little bit on the expensive side but has beautiful views right on the Bay in Morro, and the food was great so definitely worth the splurge. The service was equally up to par. I had my parents there for the dinner and they were treated very well by the servers even though at times their accent may be hard to understand. All of the different dishes we ordered were equally great. The restaurant is very clean and classy. We'll definitely be back for another special occasion. read more

I am a college student at poly, and let me tell you: every college student should come here for Oyster Tuesday's! Their oysters were 0.75 cents each, and you had a choice to either have them on the half shell, fried, or shooters. The shooters were a little spicy, so beware of that! As for the fried, they were really small, so we just ended up getting a whole bunch of oysters in the half shell. I came in at 6:30 and luckily, I didn't have to wait. Service was fast too, got the oysters within five minutes. The server said the oyster they use for Tuesday's are normally Kumiai from Baja; my verdict? A little salty finish, but not bad. we tried oysters that were on the regular menu, blue point oysters were really good!! I could probably eat a 100 oysters no problem and still be hungry, so we ordered the mushroom risotto as well. As you would expect from a fancy restaurant, small portion, and ok quality. stick with the cheap oysters on Tuesday! read more

I'm sure the halibut was also good, but I'm glad I had sand dabs. Each filet was lightly breaded, rolled up, and set on top of an amazing potato cake. I have come here before for oyster Tuesday and for dinner and I always loved it but on our recent trip with a group of 10 they really blew me away! We ordered 10 different meals and different drinks and honestly everything was amazing! The duck may have been my favorite but the scallops also melted in your mouth! This is mine and my husband's favorite restaurant in Morro Bay. We live in Huntington Beach, but we try to make up there at least once a year. Everything is incredible and you can't beat the view from the restaurant. It is easy to see how the restaurant got its name. My husband and I usually both get the pork chop because it is the best pork chop we've ever had. It is massive and flavorful and cooked so perfectly. It is usually two meals for us because it is so big. We could probably share one, but we never do because we want our own! We also get oysters which are always amazing. We've both had the clam chowder and the risotto. Nothing disappoints. You really can't go wrong at this place. They also offer wine flights which are fun. I look forward to going to this place every time we are in town. It is in a great location that is walking distance from most of the hotels. read more

This is a difficult review to write. First off, this is a beautiful restaurant with breathtaking views. The food; however, in my opinion, was pretty mediocre. My daughter and I had the pasta with scallops and calamari. Disappointed with the scallops as it was the miniature kind. I had one piece of calamari in my pasta, daughter had three. My mom ordered red snapper and a whole fish came to the table. Didn't look appetizing at all and with the prices you pay here you should not have to put in a bunch of work to eat your meal.
