The restaurant has an upscale dinning feel, overall great ambiance if you'd like to get a little fancy. Now food, amazing appetizers! The burrata was delicious. the bread with dipping oil was actually my favorite part of the dinner, sooo delicious! Sand dabs was good, didn't really get to taste the lemon in it but the fish was good combined with potato cake. We really wanted to enjoy our dinner here, but it disappointed. The whole experience seemed like a throwback to the 1990s. The decor was tired (even the restroom decor had bad seascapes), and the music was an easy-listening pop playlist that would've been more at home in a dentist's office. Maybe because it was 6:00 on a weeknight and the crowd skewed older? But just because you're older doesn't mean you want cheesy music. The service was pleasant though not top-notch professional. But where our dinner really failed was the food. One of us ordered the vegetarian pizza. The crust was decent, but on top were unseasoned slices of barely cooked veggies. No character, no effort. A salad that was supposed to have pear had two minuscule slices, and the whole thing was small and stingy. Worst of all was the fish. The menu makes a big deal about ethical sourcing and freshness. But the salmon was bland, and the daps were meh. And the presentation was that kind of overwrought tower of layers you used to be wowed by back in 1990. All for $40! Sorry, Windows on the Water. This place is a hidden gem. I finally decided to try this place. Reservations are recommended. It's so classy yet still down to earth Morro Bay style. The service was great and food was delicious. Not to mention the view! No matter where you sit, the view is wonderful. Do try to get a window seat. You won't regret it. I had a cesar salad, and a rib eye steak. It was delicious. Party of four went in for the Oyster Tuesday deal that we found here on Yelp. The menu stating their special is actually outdated, as the oysters are now $0.98 (I believe) instead of the picture showing $0.75. I actually meant to take an updated picture to post but it completely slipped my mind. Although more expensive than I originally thought, still an amazing deal. We ordered 20 each of the fried oysters, oysters on the half shell and oyster shooters. Half shell were okay, but I have to say I was pretty disappointed when the first three all had gritty sand in them. They definitely could have offered more than three lemons and maybe a few more condiment options. The fried oysters were decent and everyone at the table enjoyed them. Shooters were also tasty and well-seasoned, yet somehow not very memorable. The thing about our experience that I found odd was when we walked in, the host asked if we were there for dinner or oyster tuesday, with which we replied, "Oyster Tuesday." He preceded to inform us that we could choose to sit up by the bar, or in one of the two tables at the front of the restaurant. We got the oysters, soft shell crab app, chicken fingers for the kiddo, pork chops, and cioppino. The oysters were small. The soft shell crab was not as crispy as I would have like but the bed of salad underneath was a good balance. The chicken fingers came with fries and berries. It was a full portion and Kid approved. The pork chops and Cioppino were delicious, good sized portion, would order both again. They made one of the best Bloody Mary cocktails my husband has had in a long time. I had one of the more expensive items on the menu-cioppino. It is advertised with crab, but the crab consisted of two crab claws which I thought may have been crawdads. One of the four small mussels had not opened so I avoided it fearing it may not have been ready for prime time. Did I mention the clams? Well they weren't worth mentioning. I think there were two of them swimming in the under-seasoned tomato broth. My wife had the sand dabs which were "pretty good" and definitely the better choice. The window view was fantastic. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. We were looking for a special restaurant for our anniversary. Windows on the Water was recommended by our resort. All tables around us were also celebrating a special event, birthdays, and newly weds. The view of the bay was lovely from the second story. However, we expected fine dining. The entree choices are limited to 8 ranging from $31-$55 without a salad or soup. The Sand Dabs were deep fried and not appealing. We barely took a bite. We had a $160 tab and did not enjoy the food. It was not a special experience that I was expecting. Our resort also recommended Dorn's which also has a view...wish we made that choice. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

A good restaurant, not too fancy, right on the water that has a good menu and decent food. I must mention that there is not corkage fee if you bring in a bottle of wine, or two, so long as you bought it from the Morro Bay Wine Seller, right downstairs from Windows. The nice lady there will help you select your wine, even let you taste some and then will stamp a bag with her shop stamp so you can show the wait staff where you got it. A significant savings and a good opportunity to see what unique area wines are available. Nice people in Morro Bay. Menu is great. Special cocktails and appetizers. Remember that you are eating dockside, so seafood that has escaped the seals and sea lions is fresh as can be. They even have Seared Albacore Bruschetta, Ginger Crab Cake and Abalone for appetizers. Very nice and interesting. Had never tried abalone and to me it was OK. And, of course, oysters on the half shell. I think it is Tuesdays that the oysters are only $.99 so check that out. Otherwise they are over $3 each. They have a wood fired oven, so make pizza which looked very good and authentic. My non-seafood-eating wife opted here and liked it alot. The mains have fresh sea-foods, steaks, pasta pork and lamb chops. I tried Sand Dabs, which I had never had and they were excellent. Especially the way they were presented. On a crispy bed of mashed potatoes (really a potato cake) and fresh spinach were three pieces of fish (that you would swear upon looking that they were mini chicken tenders) drizzled with lemon garlic-caper butter and parsley oil. It was so good that I almost ordered a second portion, but wife stopped me. Split a salad which went really well with our choices and splitting was done in the kitchen, so no bother. Only caution is to remember that the sun sets out to the left of Morro Rock. That bright sunlight comes directly into your happy faces sitting at the tables. There are drop-down blinds, but you do want the view. So...BRING YOUR DARK GLASSES. You can take them off once the sun is out of your eyes. A good dinner spot. Good service, good food. read more

We were nervous about bringing our 3 year old to a nicer restaurant, but the waitress made us very comfortable. The food portions are good size for the price point and grade of food.
