That means past all the lame '9pm closing joints' in this city we call a city, when *really* it acts like a town (due to said '9pm closing joints'). So here I am looking at the list of flavors...there are 9. I narrowed down like this by tasting a sample of some. But I like to try not to be too high maintenance, because tasters who go overboard are about as annoying as the 80 yr old man writing a check in the express lane at Barons Marketplace. Y'know how it is, I didn't want to make him get little cups for all of them but perhaps I should have because I felt somehow robbed at the end of my meal and overly full and couldn't eat it all. I am not sure where to begin. I suppose I will follow the typical format of bad things first, followed by the good things. Bad: This place is small, they seem a little understaffed in the kitchen, and there seems to be a pretty significant wait on food for wings (10-15 minutes per order.) They have two cash registers, but they always only have one employee manning the front counter and the line just starts to extend out the door during lunch hours. I'm not a big fan of this "inefficiency." Good: The pricing is pretty good considering the amount of food you get. The wings are meaty, not just skin and bones. If you are at work in the area you can always hop online and order to-go. This seems to be the best way since the time you would have spent waiting is spent driving/walking to the store. I've yet to not get an order by the time I get there through the lunch traffic on Rosecrans. Hickory Smoked BBQ and the traditional hot are my two favorite flavors, simple, yet hits the spot. I've been to many chicken wing locations. This one is just mediocre. The chicken is fine but they charge for dips. They also take sooooo long to get your order ready. I've waited as long as 30 minutes for basic order. They are in a shopping center located off of Rosecrans and Midway. They have a good variety of sauces and the chicken is fresh. My bf and I always order over the phone and drive 20 minutes to pick up our orders. Wings 'n Things is 2 minutes from us but we haven't been there since we discovered Wingstop! The cashier there is usually Andrew (I think that's his name). He's always friendly and probably knows me by now because I order to-go a lot. My bf and I usually get the Family Pack of 20 wings, or the 35 wings. Yeah, I know we eat A LOT. The Family Pack comes with large fries and carrots, celery and ranch. Some people knock this location for bad or slow service, but I've been here many times and it's always been great for what it is. It's not a fine dining restaurant, just a fast-food chain wing restaurant. Food has always come out in an appropriate time, even when ordering online or by phone for pick-up. The food is great, but I might be biased; I have a major soft spot for wings. Garlic parm and lemon pepper are the way to go! The wings themselves can be sort of on the smaller side for what you pay, and if you're crazy about your sauces you might have to pay for more sauce. I have never been more fucking outraged by a food order. My fiancee and I placed our online order at 9:03 PM for 15 plain boneless wings, 10 hawaiian, and 10 bbq. The confirmation page told me the order would be ready at about 9:26. So far, so good. We arrive to the Rosecrans St. WingStop in San Diego at 9:26, on the dot. I figure there is a decent chance that the wings will be just undergoing the finishing touches--online order timing, after all, is a crapshoot. The girl at the register takes my card and disappears to the back. She is in high school, and seems to have quite the attitude at Daddy having forced her to get a job. The other uniformed employee in the back looks no older than 13, and moves around the kitchen with a look of utter confusion on his face. Right after the girl confirmed that I was there, I notice the two of them--at this point, not any sooner--begin frying up our boneless wings. There was also a large, lumpy growth attached to a folding chair even further back, behind the kitchen. I assume this lump was a manager, as no other adults were in view. Regardless, it continued to sit there and stare at the smartphone in its hands, never looking away once during my entire visit. I'm fairly certain that the building could have been set ablaze and this useless fuck would have continued pressing on after the high score in Angry Birds. Anyways, my wings finally arrive at 9:37 PM, a full eleven minutes after the quoted time. Having worked in the food service industry for over three years, I am quite familiar with how long it takes to completely fry and prepare an order of boneless wings. I ask the girl if her manager should maybe be helping out so that their orders aren't taking for fucking ever, and she responded with "Uhh, I don't know, teehee!" Hiep and I went to a place called Wing Stop. It was in the Sports Arena area. It was after deciding against going to Wings N Things in Kearny Mesa that we decided on that place. I didn't really want burgers or Mexican, but was in the mood for some chicken. Hiep had heard of Wing Stop in Irvine and was hoping that there was a San Diego location. He had called Heather to try and find the location. It took some looking around, but we stumbled on the location after trying a random shopping center within the Sports Arena area. Nice place. Prices are fair for how much food they give. 10 pieces of chicken, either one flavor or two (we chose the Lemon Pepper and Hickory Smoked BBQ), carrots and celery, and fries and a drink. All for about $14. It took a little while for the food to come, but luckily it was quiet on a Saturday night so Hiep and I could talk. It's a small place, but the good thing is that the smell of chicken doesn't overwhelm the place like the Wings N Things that was in Kearny Mesa. The food's messy, though, and there aren't any plates to put the food on. Instead, we had to use the paper towels as the plates. The chicken wings were also very hot. Add to that, the fries were very salty, though tasty. The carrots and celery actually helped as a counterpoint to the heat generated by the chicken. Their Spicy Korean wings are TO DIE FOR legit my favorite wing sauce ever! So flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. I've had all kinds of "Asian zing" type flavors at different wing spots and Wingstop does it best for me! I give this place 3 starts because the service is mediocre at best and I swear they are incredibly slow! I highly encourage you to call your order in ahead of time because you could easily be waiting 25-30 minutes for your food. On a positive note, I've always gotten piping hot wings, they've never been cold or like they were sitting out, they are always hot and fresh. I have tried the spicy (regular), Cajun (perfect heat for me) and their hottest (not that much different than Cajun in my opinion) - all were good for "buffalo style" . Their garlic parmesan were gross, so I knocked one star off. The hawaiin and Teriyaki were also very tasty. The fries are skin-on, which i prefer. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because I love Wingstop's food. Really great flavor selection, nice portion sizes, and delicious food. However, I'd never been to this location and I think it's pretty safe to say I won't be back solely because of the customer service. It took around 25 minutes for my food to come out, which is the longest I've waited at a fast casual restaurant, especially considering there was only one other order they had to make for a customer that came in AFTER me. When my food finally came out I realized it was wrong. My sister and I both ordered the ancho honey glaze wings and both of us received PLAIN wings with no sauce or seasoning. When we went to tell the cashier our order was wrong, he acted as though it was an inconvenience to him and that it was our fault they gave us plain wings. He offered to get the right order out for us, but made it seem as though he was doing us a favor by actually giving us what we ordered. He ended up just bringing out the sauce on the side. However, he still said they were making a new batch of wings in the back. Another 20 minutes go by, and the cashier was nowhere to be found. Finally, he comes back out and he has obviously forgotten to even get the wings started because he looked at our table and says "Oh, um I'll still get the wings out for you guys." We waited another 15 minutes for the wings but the cashier never came back out. We ended up leaving without the new wings because we were super over it at the point. This location falsely identifies/ advertises itself as a location that accepts EBT and provides necessary and needed hot meals. Today I experienced an abysmal example of humanity via their manager Arazeli who restated over and over that she had exhausted all possible resoulutions tonight to feed someone who had no other means to pay besides their EBT card. THE MANAGER doubled down on the cruelty, stating that not only for an entire week their EBT machine has been down, but also they will be throwing the food away. Then blaming the customer for not asking before ordering if the machine was working today. This isn't the first time this location has modeled what bad customer service is. Today the weight of that dissappointment is far more heavy. GO TO ANY LOCATION EXCEPT THIS ONE. ALSO REPORT THEM. AS THEY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED TO SERVICE THE COMMUNITY IN THE MOST DIRE OF TIMES. My 2nd fave is garlic parmesan, but the cheesy smell stinks up your car if you're getting takeout. To the management team: Please reevaluate your customer service standards. Let me just begin by saying that you need to thoroughly double and triple check your order before you leave the store. I had placed an online order for my workplace. I specifically requested for the order to be ready for pickup at 11:30. I arrived between 11:30-11:35 and they had not even started my order. The cashier asked me to wait a few minutes, which was fine with me. However, 25 minutes passed by before they even finished our order! In a rush, I hurriedly left the store because I had just spent half of my lunch hour waiting for the food. Arrived at my workplace with the food and realized that they missed an order. I thought, no big deal, I'll just call and ask for a refund on that particular item. The person who answered the phone initially tried to argue with me saying that the order was fulfilled. When he finally realized that it wasn't fulfilled, he asked me to hold but proceeded to hang up on me and then blamed technology when I called back. He then informed me that he couldn't issue a partial refund of any kind because I paid with a credit card. That did not make any sense whatsoever! He then told me that I could come back and pick up the order to which I declined because I was not going to drive back down Rosecrans during the lunch hour. At this point, I was already beyond frustrated so I decided to ask for the manager. Get this, the guy tells me that the manager doesn't come into work until 5 p.m. What kind of restaurant does this?
