Well I have to start off saying this restaurant got some issues with diversity and if the manager of this place allows it then he shouldn't be running a business second when people have a reservation for a large group why make people wait for a longtime then keep making excuses about the reserved spaces then u get seated after waiting 35-40 min past time then get seated and treat your guest like your high class restaurant is for certain kinds of people waiters have poor serving skills for large parties the food was awful and it was just like someone prepared something and reheated the food for the cost I've been to better places this place need to get rid of the diversity and find some cooks that can prepare food the desert was not homemade I got sick from it but Winston's grille needs to read this and figure what went wrong at the Christmas party on December 14 around 9pm read more

I was looking for a relaxing, classy-yet-unpretentious restaurant with friendly people and delicious comfort food, and that's exactly what I found at Winston's Grille. I had a hard time deciding between different entrees and desserts and our server knocked it out of the park with his suggestions for me (burger, loaded baked potato, and key lime pie). All I can say is disappointed. Of course the food, the service, and the ambience is always excellent. From what my wife tells me do not go into the women's bathroom unless you dare. It is that bad. And from what our bartender is telling us it has been that way for quite a while. Hard to believe that an establishment such as this one would allow that to continue. It is disgusting. read more

I'm updating my review to upgrade Winston's to a 5 star establishment. We've come here several times since our initial visit and have been extremely satisfied each and every time. We came here the weekend that we got engaged for a family celebration and were treated to a delicious bottle of champagne and impeccable service. We got everything from steaks, to the cashew salmon (so good!!!) to pasta and prime rib. We ordered a few appetizers this time around that were all amazing as well. The bleu cheese chips were to die for. As was the crab dip. I'm not a huge fan of calamari but everyone else at the table loved it. It was also a birthday celebration so we got their chocolate peanut butter brownie (I'm salivating right now thinking about it) and a few other desserts. Winston's is great! You will love it. Make sure you get the crab dip. It's the best. Period. The salads are amazing as well as the shrimp and grits. You can't go wrong with a daily special ever. And save room for ice cream. They make their own ice cream. The flavors change. The best I have had is almond joy, nutty butty or pumpkin gingerbread. Too full? Take a pint or quart home. I would give them 5 stars but the service is lacking. Especially with a bigger party. With only one waitress time after time it turns into a 2.5 hour lunch?! And if you get a private room they aren't really private. The sunroom has doors but the wall doesn't meet the ceiling so it is very loud. read more

They were very accommodating for a large group (we had 10) and the service was just right-the server gave us time and privacy to talk and enjoy each other's company as well as enough attention to see to our needs. Well. Today confirmed that folks with reservations get the worse seats. Last year they put us in the bar after a 30 minute wait post reservation time and today we get seated later and in the middle of the room next to a column in high traffic area. Folks without reservations got better tables. No more reservations here for us. read more

I came here with my family for a nice Father's Day dinner. Our waiter was very experienced and make eating out enjoyable for us. The food was amazing. OMG the grits . My husband and I liked this restaurant but not in love with it yet. The entrees we got were the bbq chicken and the chopped streak. My husband liked his chicken but for myself, I thought their bbq sauce was a bit too tangy. He said the macaroni and cheese was really delicious. My entree was pretty good but the mashed potatoes seemed more like instant mashed potatoes mixed with some homemade mashed potatoes. The spinich that came with my entree was delicious. The atmosphere is very nice. It's dark and somewhat upscale. Our waiter was nice but never brought us water like everyone else we saw waited on and he never asked if we wanted dessert. Overall, it was a good restaurant but not nothing out of the ordinary for a restaurant. read more

My friend from Maryland was visiting and wanted steak, I didn't know what I wanted. I showed him the menu. He said oh you guys have shrimp and grits down here. Couldn't decide between that and the baby back ribs, but once we got to the restaurant, ribs it was. He got a bowl of clam chowder and said it was excellent. I got the rib eye, green beans and sweet potato fries. The fries were wonderful. Serve was very fast. Even though the parking lot was packed when we arrived. Excellent meal tonight. I saw a picture of the braised short rib special on social media and suddenly had a craving for short ribs - so off we went!!! My husband and I were seated promptly at a nice private booth, and acknowledged quickly by the wait staff. We started with their signature crab dip, and my husband had a generous sized Cesar Salad served on a chilled plate (as it should be) - both were very good. Of course I had the braised short rib special, with asiago cheese grits and fresh sautéed spinach, and my husband ordered a rib eye. Stopped by for a quick late lunch with my bride. Not busy at all - grab a "dirty" booth at the bar - waitress notices we sat down but seemed inconvenienced to come a wipe up table and reset it. Never was greeted - nor given time to even look for beverages before asked what did we want. After ordering 2 waters & 2 beers we placed order - simple crab dip & sandwich to split. At this point the waitress never waited on us nor checked on us again - stood beside our booth and carries on a 20 minute conversation with 2 ladies about her age & boyfriend in Banner Elk. Mothers Day Disappointment. Was seated in a corner of the bar with 3 people at a 2 person table. If I had walked in off the street, I would have been ok with that, considering the busy day. However, I made reservations weeks ago, so I expected better. They offered to move us because they realized this was not great, but they really had no where to move us to and it was starting to stress my mom out, so I had to let it go. It was physically uncomfortable, just no where near enough space. I still give them three stars because the food really saved the day, it was fabulous as always. So I won't be writing the place off as the food IS REALLY good, but I would never trust them on a holiday. read more
