A Portion of the Dining Area with counter and Sushi Bar
    Steve D.

The food, service, and dining area here were much better than what I have come to expect at fast Chinese restaurants, with just a slightly higher price. My dine-in chicken with mixed vegetables all day combo ($8.95) included choice of rice (white, fried, brown +$1, or plain lo mein +$1), choice of sauce (brown or white), egg roll, and crab rangoon. It was nice to have the options, which are often not available at other places. My meal was served just six minutes after I ordered at the counter. The chicken was the real deal here, instead of the spongy, flat, flavorless chicken served at many other places. The fried rice was first rate - very flavorful, and moist, without being greasy - nice! They also nailed the egg roll and the crab rangoon, which had plenty of creamy goodness - mmm! I liked the clean, nice, and new dining area with plenty of natural light and classy instrumental Asian music, while the service was polite and professional, with an interest in feedback. The menu includes noodles, Chinese, sushi, hibachi, and poke bowls. Very nice overall!

spent $30 and honestly was not good. the tuna tasted extremely old and cheap. the rolls aren't made very well and everything is served on paper plates. wouldn't recommend, sushi haru is down the street and a lot better!

I have ordered takeout here many times and didn't realize I never did a review. Food is consistently good and priced right. Orders usually ready in 15 minutes. Clean restaurant with small dining area. So glad this is close to my house. Highly recommend.

So far so good, clean inside, petite overall, later hours then most competition, open the same hours everyday & not stuck downtown! Fantastic! all positives- currently waiting for the food to review next. Think it was Mom who stepped in & upgraded my two sushi combo soup for no charge, extra thanks. lots of four dash receipts must be good to pay the additional charge! Although I was the only person after 9:30 to transact, they have plenty options to keep any asian cuisine nut guessing what to try next. and I believe in the potential for packed-room-rushes here. After a few bites, I'm amazed. FIRE.

Our party of three each ordered something different and we were all delighted. The only room for improvement would be the fried rice but it was good enough to order again. Chef was happy to make the garlic chicken less spicy and it was perfect. The service was speedy and friendly. Take out or dine in (about 10 tables). Restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Chinese decor and music perfectly appropriate.

By the time I grabbed our food and headed back out, the front spots had already opened up again. We did two lunch specials for around $20 total, which feels like a steal for how much food you get and how good it was. We ordered the Chicken with Cashew and the General Tso's lunch specials, both came with soup and a side. The cashew chicken was seriously incredible. A lot of places overload this dish with veggies until it turns into chaos, but this one was balanced with the right mix of ingredients and is easily one of my new favorites in KC. Only bummer: hardly any cashews. Still delicious, but I wanted a little more cashew love. Crab rangoons were hot and crispy with a solid filling even after a bit of a drive home. The fried rice had great flavor, and the steamed white rice was bouncy and soft, not that kind with crispy dry edges. Both soups were spot on, and THANK YOU for including wonton strips. A lot of places skip them and it really can make or break egg drop soup for me. General Tso's had great flavor, but the chicken pieces were a little big and it wasn't very spicy, even though we didn't order it no spicy. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know if you want that classic kick. Inside is clean and cute with tables for about 8 to 10 small groups, the front desk is toward the back, and everyone was kind and helpful. As an Elite, I also loved seeing their Yelp pride around the restaurant. Overall, super solid lunch specials and I'll absolutely be back!!

It took them a little longer than I was quoted but it wasn't too much longer. The interior was very small with a capacity of 10. They do have a table but that's pretty much it. I would plan on taking it to go just due to space. Everyone was friendly and they made sure my order was correct when it was completed. I went with the beef and broccoli dinner combo. You get either white or fried rice. I went with fried. And it comes with an egg roll and a crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was large and had a sweet flavor to it. FYI: They use imitation crab for my friends with shellfish allergies. I also ordered an additional order of Rangoon and I wasn't disappointed with that decision. I think the egg roll was just a veggie one, they do have a pork and chicken option. It was fine but I preferred the Rangoon. I would try the other egg roll options in the future. I also added on a hot mustard sauce. That's a must. It's spicy. The beef and broccoli was really good. The broccoli was fresh and there were a few carrots. The beef was tender and without that weird fatty, gristly stuff. Definitely good quality. The fried rice was a bit plain. It's literally just fried rice, no veggies or egg. But it's also not at an up charge so I can't really complain. I also ordered egg drop soup. It's delicious and such a good value. I highly recommend it. I definitely plan on returning to try a few other menu options.

For our entree we split the ginger basil chicken (Bite size tender thigh meat sautéed with sesame oil, ginger and fresh basil) which was good but the noodles were a bit undercooked. Had a little issue with communication, partly because as I was trying to tell the man at the front my name, the lady in the way back of the kitchen kept yelling up asking questions, etc. He started out by handing me this HUGE order, then when I told him again who I was, he went back and got my tiny order. Lucky I'm not a fast runner (and I'm honest) or I would have made a get away with someone else's huge order. ;) I had Sesame Chicken that came with fried rice and a couple crab Rangoon. The Sesame Chicken was marked as spicy and it was a little spicier than some, but still quite good. I would have liked a couple more pieces of broccoli, but not a big deal. The crab Rangoon wasn't the best I've ever had, the wontons were a little cakey or thick for my taste and the filling was a bit bland, but still not bad. It's a convenient location for me and the prices weren't too bad. It's definitely probably going to be in my top choices for super-closeby options when I'm craving Chinese carryout.

While we didn't have to wait for a table, almost all of them were full when we arrived. Ika is a smaller space in a strip mall off of 119 in Leewood, so there's not a ton of seating but the restaurant went further back than where we sat so there's probably more room than I could see. The kitchen/sushi bar is right up front when you walk in and takes up a good amount of room toward the front but it's aesthetically pleasing. The decor was very nice and everything was clean. They have a big chalk board near the front door, on the wall with their specials. They have quite a few. The menu is very large and our server came over about 5 minutes after we were seated. We ordered some edamame but asked for some more time to look at the menu. When the edamame came out, we placed our order. We decided to both get a side salad with ginger dressing and share two of their special rolls. We got one of the specials off the board, the Hidden Dragon. It was really good and by far my favorite out of the 2 rolls we got. My friend also really liked this roll and thought it was the better of the two. The other roll we got was the Rainbow which is a California roll topped with various types of fish. Neither of us are big fans of salmon so we asked for it to be left off. I didn't really like this roll. I normally love tuna but I prefer it cut a bit thinner and I'm used to it almost having a butter texture where it melts in your mouth. I'm not sure what was going on but all of the tuna had a very strong flavor and yes, I'll say it was fishy. I realize some people like that but I don't. Maybe it was the Hamachi (yellowtail) but it was not for me. I tried 2 pieces and that was enough. My friend liked it better than me but definitely preferred the Hidden Dragon too. I would probably give them a 3.5 if that was an option because the Hidden Dragon roll was very good. The service was efficient and quick. Not overly friendly. They never even acknowledged my friend's bday even though she was opening gifts and we sat a small birthday pop up paper cake card on the table. Not that we expected anything but maybe just a comment about her birthday. Maybe they were too rushed for anything extra. My disappointment in the tuna on the Rainbow roll is my reason for the lower rating. The rolls are $18 each so getting one I really couldn't eat is unfortunate. They also use the crab salad and not just a piece of crab in their rolls. I prefer the latter because I'm not too fond of all the extra mayo from the crab salad. I missed taking pics of our rolls! The Hidden Dragon looked fantastic and the Rainbow looked better than it tasted, lol. My friend still enjoyed her afternoon birthday lunch! I would possibly try them again to explore something else on the menu since there were so many options but I won't go out of my way to return.

I ordered the spicy beef fried rice, the beef did not taste fresh and gave my rice a weird taste. The vegetable fried rice was dry BUT had an enjoyable blend of vegetables. The vegetable Lo mein was not flavored BUT the vegetables were thoroughly cooked. The "Chinese" doughnuts were still a bit doughy inside BUT they were surprisingly still good and I'd say were my favorite for the night. Also to note, there wasn't any prices on the dine-in menu but included on the takeout menu which I thought was different because no one wants to be surprised with their bill. I usually come here for dim sum, and it is upsetting for me to say that my husband and I should've chose somewhere else to eat for dinner. For dinner, we ordered fried rice and chow fun. Those two main entrées were okay. You can't really mess up those two fillers at an Asian restaurant. We ordered scallion pancakes- they came out soggy and soft. Not even crispy like how they usually are. The flavor wasn't there either. If I wanted microwaved scallion pancakes, then I would've bought them from the store and made them myself. My husband ordered the short ribs- they were bland and tough like rubber. It had a funky taste to it that he couldn't describe and he had to force himself to swallow it because he didn't want food to go to waste. I ordered the chicken feet- this is one of dim sum's signature dishes and I am so upset I didn't even get to enjoy one of the dishes I always order. It was dry and the flavor wasn't there. The service was fantastic. They checked in on us and made sure our water was filled. The timing of the food coming in and out was fine. The ambiance was inviting.
