Eel & Avocado Roll $13.50 for 6 pcs 9/10
Marichris P.

First time at this location: Hamachi Good size pieces, sauce was good, doesn't include radish and comes with ginger paste Spicy crab tempura roll $18 Not fair for the price at all - quite surprised this was priced so high, a California roll has more ingredients than this roll. Eel avocado roll $13.50 For the price I felt it was fair - kind of a lot of rice than what I'm used to on a roll Ambiance is dark - has upbeat house music playing which changes the energy and makes it more lively **Happy hour M-F ENDS AT 6PM Service: we walked in and ordered at the front for take out since happy hour had ended earlier than we saw the times posted online *sadface* Someone walked in as we were looking at the menu - seemed to know the workers. We were ready to order and were standing there for awhile. There were 3 people at the desk and it was awkward - they were all engaged with the one guest and kept looking at us then continued talking. One of them was not as engaged and kept looking at us but didn't offer to take our order for like 5 minutes of the back and forth awkward stare lol maybe he was new. But he eventually took our order. Overall it was an awkward situation and probably wouldn't return.

I came into Wokano cause I wanted to take myself out to eat and celebrate a big job. Upon arrival, I could see everyone was focused on watching the FIFA World Cup game. No biggie. The host wasn't super inviting. So I go sit at the one open table at the bar. It's packed and there's only one bartender working I guess. I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for someone, anyone to greet me. Servers and food runners walking past me. Hosts busy watching the game. Then FINALLY after 11 minutes a server who walked past me 4x already asked if the bartender had got my drink order (that's how I know I wasn't in the server's section) I said no but I'm ready to order and I want to close out. The server takes my order and tells me he's gonna let the bartender know cause it's his section.. the bartender delivers my food. Never once introduced himself, never said hello. He did not speak one word to me. I get that maybe he was tied up. But you're never to busy to say a hello. He never checked in my food, Asked me how was anything or if I needed anything. He dropped my check, took payment. Still no word. I am not exaggerating when I say this man didn't even speak to me. Nobody did. I pay, I don't get a thank you have a nice day. Nothing. Now I still tipped because I work in the service industry and I choose kindness. but I do feel it was quite ridiculous that the host were standing around, didn't offer to help out. That nobody came to check on me to see if I needed anything, or if I was satisfied. Like I said I simply wanted to celebrate something big and this experience had ruined said celebration. My food was fine. My sushi coulda used more eel sauce, but the bartender never returned to ask me if I needed anything.. everyone was too focused on watching the game.

The seating is so cozy!!! I love it ! The lights could be a bit brighter tho haha! Our waitress is so kind! Please give her a raise she's an angel ! For the food I ordered crazy fired rice and garlic noodles with parmesan. So good I was literally drooling ! I recommend the crazy fired rice . Food came out fast! But I only ate 2 pieces of orange chicken because it was rock hard and disgusting so we threw it out :(

Came in on a Thursday afternoon for lunch with a couple of coworkers. It was a pleasant experience. Good was good, service was good. We sat ourselves near the bar area. Please note their booths and tables mostly seem to be very tall, I'm sure they had more accessible seating options in the main dining room, but I didnt see from where we were sitting. I ordered the lunch time Mongolian beef with white rice, and my coworkers both ordered the kung pao chicken. It was good and for a sit down restaurant, the prices weren't horrible, keep in mind we did order from the lunch time menu. The food came out fairly quickly, first with the salad starter that comes with the lunch special. Not sure how often I will be back, but I did enjoy my experience.

*Delayed post from Jan '25 Stopped here for a late night bite around 11pm since most restaurants are closed by then in Downtown Burbank. The decor gave me Cheesecake Factory vibes and the quality of food was about the same: consistently okay and satisfies everyone's cravings with a large menu, but not a place I'd take someone to impress them. It's slightly above mediocre. Our server was very cheery and our food came out quickly, with quite large portions. Not sure I'll personally stop by again since there's nothing special about their meals, but I see the appeal for families and large groups. It's affordable and has a decent atmosphere, but don't expect to have the best Chinese food of your life.

Family Dinner Value Meal for 2: Mongolian beef & Walnut shrimp.

Family Dinner Value Meal for 2 was a great combo. We got the Mongolian beef and Walnut shrimp. Egg rolls were light and tasty. Everything is carefully packaged for delivery to avoid spilling or broken bottles. Fresh vegetables with every dish. Will definitely order again.

Beef with Broccoli

First time for me at this location. All my years in Burbank and I have never been to Wokcano. The service was excellent. The staff was on it! The rice was delicious. The orange chicken was not sweet which was different than other orange chicken dishes I have had in the past. The beef and broccoli had lots of meat which was large size portions. The ambiance was nice and quiet which is nice.

Chow Fun (with Raw meat)

Decided to order a late night dinner, which arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. I took a bite and noticed the meat was completely raw - it was literally purple. We had to throw everything away; I also ended up getting sick from it; horrible food. Be aware!

Pad Thai & Volcano Roll

We're from the Central Valley but always make a stop here when we can. We discovered it during COVID and the service was always impeccable. The inside of the restaurant is dimly lit and they always have good music playing. The food is always why I keep coming back. Portions are a good size. The miso has great flavor but could be a little hotter, or warm up the bowl prior to serving to keep it warm. Just a suggestion. ‍

Garlic Noodles with Parmesan Cheese

I've been to this location a couple times now. It's pretty good. They're pretty sufficient with their service, especially when it's not super crowded. They have large tables available, booth seating, high tables, and the bar. Happy hour is available. Their food is good. Their honey walnut shrimp & garlic noodles are the best! We had an issue with one of the drinks at first, but it was resolved and everything was good. A while back a friend of mine had his bday here, and we brought him a cake, and they let us keep it in their refrigerator until we were ready to sing happy bday.

I typically go for dinner or happy hour but this time tried lunch at the Burbank location. We had the lunch menu and everything was under $20 and comes with a big bowl of salad with Japanese dressing (my favorite), cup of rice and big bowl of the fish filet and asparagus which I had for dinner as well for the servings were big. My friend had the honey garlic shrimp which she said was delicious also. Not a big lunch crowd - service was solid. I just hope this one doesn't close like the Gordon Biersch across the street for I enjoy Wokcano's dishes - never been disappointed whether I order sushi or cooked dishes in any location. Plenty of 2 hour public parking and also street parking.

The peacock roll was beautiful but looked better than it tasted.

I took my daughter and her friends out to Wokcano to celebrate her birthday. It's a fun place to celebrate, nicely decorated with a chill vibe, and the service was great, but unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. My daughter was disappointed with her spicy tuna roll, I was disappointed with my peacock roll, and the pad thai was almost sickeningly sweet. The one food item that everyone agree was delicious was the orange tofu. It was crispy on the outside and the tofu melted in your mouth when you bit into it. I'm not sure if I would go back again when there are so many other great restaurants in the area.

Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!

- Broken Compass Tiki…read more My girlfriend and I absolutely loved Broken Compass Tiki. I originally found it on TikTok, followed up with a few YouTube videos, and knew I had to check it out the next time we were in Burbank. It completely lived up to the hype. Parking can be a little challenging since it's in Burbank, but we got lucky and found a street parking spot nearby. If you don't get as lucky, driving around the block or into the surrounding neighborhood should eventually turn something up. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened, and there were already several people inside. By the time we left, the place was filling up quickly, so it's definitely a popular spot. I surprised my girlfriend by keeping the destination a secret and just telling her we were going somewhere fun with a unique theme. She loved it. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Both the bartender and our server were incredibly welcoming. Our server asked whether it was our first visit and took the time to ask what kinds of drinks we normally enjoy before making recommendations. I really appreciated that he wasn't just trying to upsell us. Instead, he explained why he thought certain cocktails were better choices based on our preferences, and every recommendation ended up being spot on. As you'd expect from a tiki bar, the cocktail menu is heavily rum-focused, but there are also non-alcoholic drinks, a small beer selection, and wine available if rum isn't your thing. I ordered the Zombie Magic first, which was delicious and definitely packed a punch. After that, I tried the 100 Year Cigar, a Scotch-based cocktail that was perfect for slowly sipping. Both drinks were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the Painkiller and the Navy Grog, and she loved both of them. We started with the Shut It Polly wings, crispy chicken wings tossed in a spicy Thai peanut sauce, and they were outstanding. We also ordered the Aloha Dippers with the Cajun seasoning. I paired mine with the Chipotle Citrus Aioli, while my girlfriend chose the Firecracker sauce. Both dipping sauces were excellent and complemented the fries really well. For our entrées, I ordered the Pub Burger with Irish cheddar, onion strings, and horseradish aioli, cooked to order. It was excellent. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Roll, and we both enjoyed it. The only item that didn't quite meet our expectations was the macaroni salad that came with our meals. We've had some incredible macaroni salad at Hawaiian restaurants, and this one just didn't quite compare. It certainly wasn't bad, but it was the one part of the meal that didn't stand out. One thing that really impressed me was how accommodating the staff was regarding my raw fruit allergy. I explained what I could and couldn't safely eat or drink, and our server took it seriously. He made sure every cocktail recommendation was safe for me without sacrificing flavor or experience. That level of attention made me feel comfortable ordering drinks I otherwise might have avoided. The décor is also worth mentioning. The pirate-themed exterior transitions into a fun pirate-and-tiki atmosphere inside that really adds to the experience without feeling overdone. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. The drinks were strong and creative, the food was excellent, the service was some of the best we've had in a long time, and the atmosphere was a blast. There are still plenty of cocktails on the menu that I'd like to try, so we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Burbank.

This place really made you feel like Captain Jack Sparrow was going to jump out at every corner. It so themed for a tiki bar, but if pirates and mermaids had a place to hang out this would be that place. From the decor to the detailed bathroom sounds and the menu item names. You couldn't escape the theme anyway and I loved it! We were gathering for a friends birthday and there was 30 of us. Couldn't believe we found enough seats for us in the back area but we did. The staff was there to keep drinks flowing and keep food coming. The portion for their poke nachos was unreal. Do i wish they put a bit more poke on the dish? Yes. But it was still one of my favorite dishes of the night. The drinks were all so cute and they had ample non alcoholic mocktails as well which were yummy. If you want a speakeasy feel (you lieterally go through a secret door in the wall) and an under the sea eperience while ctching up with friends, you can totally do it here. For my friends birthday they rang some bell and all sang happy birthday to her which was so cool. Why was the bathroom the coolest part? They literally have ocean sounds and seaguls for you to hear while using the restroom. Theres even a fan in the bathroom to make you feel like you're next to the ocean because I kept fighting that darn toilet seat cover to stay put. Such a fun night and will be back for the vibes. Special s/o to Amanda and all her crew the night we were there. They helped out with photos, drinks, and keeping food going all night. She had such a great team with her that night. Everyone was helping us out even finding us chairs and clearing tables so we could make room for more food.

PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance): I parked in the nearby original Glendale Galleria parking structure and simply walked over first to The Americana then to this place. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A dark cavernous speakeasy-like place with open space, various tables and couches strewn about, and a large long somewhat decorative bar with an impressive whiskey selection displayed behind it. I appreciated the exposed brick walls which gave it that old-time feel with a few framed pictures hung on them. Minimal natural lighting came through the front doors and windows while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in rest. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...
