So we have been coming here even before COVID and like some comments here the food quality has down. We decided to go back and give the food a second chance and it caused 2 of us to get diarrhea aka chorro. The noodles were bad and smelled really bad. We got the food yesterday and I still have a stomach ache. So sad, but please make sure your noodles have not gone bad before putting them out there for people to eat. Warning: they count rice or chow main as an item and give you very little meat. So a "two item" dish is one. No other Chinese restaurant counts rice as an item. Panda Express gives you two meats AND rice or chow main. Also the meat is very dry and there is a lot of MSG in their dish. Will never come back! read more

Beef over-marinated/tenderized, but it almost always is. Big chunks of broccoli--which was not overcooked, so that's good. 5/10. In the midst of working 10-12 hour shifts this week (Holiday Season at work!) and staring at a computer all day, my company was gracious enough to further spoil the employees by providing lunch and dinner!! An email went out and said dinner would be Wok's On Express and being a loyal Yelper, I Yelped it right away! My critical eye (with great fear of poisoning) saw immediately that almost all of the Asian Yelpers rated this place low while everyone else rated it high. Obviously this place wasn't authentic Chinese food. Some useful tips? The Chow Mein is supposed to be decent. OK, good, I'll go for that. After all, how can you screw up Chow Mein?? When the food came, boy did it smell good. There was SO MUCH food. I don't know what it cost, but I'm sure it wasn't too expensive. Like everyone else, I lined up and got some Chow Mein, sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, veggie medley, some tofu medley... and that's about it. Nothing else looked that appetizing. Chow Mein - decent. Very very bland. Noodles weren't overcooked or undercooked. Cabbage was very bland. Didn't see any discernible meat. Eh... below average. Sweet and Sour dishes - EHHH.... pass. Meat was ok... quite generous. Most people seemed to enjoy it. I didn't get much sweet or sour from it. Just... MEH. Seafood Veggie Medley - I scored some shrimp and snow peas from this. Also quite bland, but the snow peas were cooked correctly and had a nice snap. Shrimp was ok. Overall, nothing memorable. Why the 1 star? 20 minutes after I finished eating, I started to feel sick. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the fatigue of working a long day... I'm pretty sure it was MSG. Now, a lot of Yelpers here claim this place doesn't use it, but I know what MSG sickness feels like and that was it. You'd think with all the blandness of the food, they'd use SALT. My shop orders food from this place ALL the time. We are a busy repair shop and always order ahead so someone can run in and out. Today a different girl than I usually talk to answered the phone and I start telling her what I want. Everything was fine until she realized I was ordering boxes. She then informs me I need to just come in and order. Usually this would be fine, but today the guy that was going to pick up doesn't speak English. Chinese fast food.. It just can't get much better. I found out about this place because it's near my work and it's kind of the place we order lunch/dinner for everyone when we want Chinese. The food isn't too bad, comparable to Panda Express. The difference here is that it's cheaper and their portions are really big... almost too big. Anyhow, for about 6 bucks, you can get a 2 item combo, which comes with white rice/fried rice/ chow mein + 2 items + soup. Not bad at all for the price. One thing that I am surprised at is for the fried rice and chow mein, you can have meat in it if you want. Usually at other chinese fast food places, it's only vegetarian fried rice or chow mein. hmmm... overall, the food isn't bad, but it's not great. it just does the job if you're looking for cheap + fast Chinese food.. which is pretty much what I need when I'm at work. Is it authentic? NOPE Is it good? Oh yeah. Price considered. Is it cheap? Double hell yes with a side of yep. This is one of those places you KNOW existed for a really really long time, you drive by it twice a day to/from work and you didn't bother to stop by just because you saw the food line and you thought it'd be awful. Their orange chicken tastes like orange, you get free soup, a lot of food, and thats ALL I need. 7 bucks gets you more food than you should ideally be eating that day and I probably might be right seeing how greasy and yummy it was haha. What is up with the bad ratings? I honestly think the food here is pretty good for Chinese take out. It's fresh, cheap and they pile high. You can't compare any of these places to an authenticate Chinese restaurant. They cater to a different crowd and that's why it's called "Express". We've been coming here for years...and years. It's a decent place to find quick Chinese food. And I find the spicy items on the menu done right--they're actually spicy! I find the Mongolian beef outstanding and the hot and sour soup is some of the best I've had. In fact, I've never found better hot and sour soup than at this place. This IS the standard for that soup. Once, I picked up a few trays for a party and I have to say, the food quality went down with the increased quantity. I won't use them for party trays anymore. No good. And i will say, I don't like the texture of their beef except in the Mongolian Beef. I haven't been there in a long while. I think we've outgrown them. Every time my family and I visit my grandma (who lives in Sunnyvale), we come up here and order from Wok On. They closed Mr. Chau's so we go here now. They have a wide variety of Chinese dishes that are better than Panda Express. The food is normally fresh, as they have a high turn around. We ordered Chow Mein, Rice, Pepper Salt Chicken Gravy Style, Mongolian Beef, Beef w/Broccoli, Tofu w/black bean sauce and fried rice. They have other dishes that you can order. Some dishes may be spicy so beware if you can't handle spicy. It is not expensive and the dishes come with soup also. They do have a sit down area or you can take it to go. The portions are big and they give you a lot of food. If you want them to zap your food, you can but I usually don't. They have a parking lot but you can't park on El Camino. The lot is pretty small. Not sure why you see so many negative reviews. It is a fairly unremarkable place. Maybe that is actually the answer. Have all the standard chinese american style choices one would expect from a typical divey place that delivers. Delivery is what makes it good to me personally. Food quality is average, this isn't trying to be pf changs or tao taos and the prices are also not comparable, it is cheap food at cheap prices. Portions are above average. Probably a 2.5 star place to be fair. Looked pretty good going in and a lot of entree choices and came with soup. Problem was none of it was very hot everything was lukewarm and just not that tasty. We ate half of it and tossed the rest then neither my wife or I felt that great afterwards. This place has affordable, fast and tasty chinese food. It also doesn't use MSG which I appreciate. One thing I must comment on, first and foremost, is the service. I have always been treated very well and the servers are extremely friendly. The old man at the front who usually is taking the money even allowed me to not pay the 45 cents when I couldn't find change. I feel that this is excellent customer service that needs to be recognized. I ended up finding the change in my car, but it was the thought. My brother called this place after I was having him haul my ass around running errands. I wanted Mr. Chow's but he swore up and down that Wok On was "the place!" to go in this neck of the woods. I didn't want to piss off my only ride back to Downtown San Jose, so I said sure and even offered to buy. The very first thing you notice is the most insane parking lot in the Bay Area. Its like playing Tetris with 4,000+ pound blocks. Absolutely insane. I personally witnessed to near collisions while deciding on orange chicken or sweet and sour pork. The food was "meh" as well. The chicken fried rice was standard, the sweet and sour pork was over cooked and the hot and sour soup was overly peppered to the point it was really "lukewarm pepper soup" To top all this off, they throw your food into the microwave!!! My friend has been coming here for a long time. We have since tried it out and have enjoyed it. We have always gotten togo or delivery. My husband always gets the combo box. Seriously, this is my shiiiit ! I went to Fremont Highschool up the street so this was our lunch time spot for cheap eats. It's $8 something for 4 items including your rice or chow mein. Not bad cause you get enough to feed 3 people, literally. My husband and I shared a 4 items and my brother ate my left overs with some left! Maybe 2 people if you're seriously hungry. Now for the picky people who complain about it being microwaved seriously what's the difference between it being microwaved and food sitting in the hot steam trays? Unless you're going to a formal sit down chinese place come on now, don't complain. What do you really expect for what you're paying? And if you want something fresh then order something that they don't have in the steam trays or just tell them not to microwave it! I haven't had an MSG problem here.
