Usually have great service here so I'll stick with 4/5 stars, but this last time it just took FOREVER to place our order or get any kind of server attention. Woodys Diner is a good place for good ol fashion diner food just like the name says. The staff I encountered was nice and attentive at the location I visited. They are opening a location close to my house which I'm excited about so I can try more things on their menu. I ordered a patty melt and it was pretty good. I'm told by friends of mine that they have really good wings so I'm looking forward to trying those out on my next visit. Just finished our meal, kinda? I am leaving a 2 star review one for each cockroach I killed during our dinner. The first one came from underneath our booth and the second literally came from the seat in the booth onto my wife's side of her body ( yes she jump and screamed! ) they were mature cockroaches well fed. Lynette our waitress and the staff apologized several times. When she ( Lynette ) brought us our bill she informed us she was allowed to give us a 50% discount from the manager. The food is to die for as so is the entertainment. Motown on Sunday's & Monday's is what we look forward to know matter what time we arrive in Palm Springs. The staff is so cool...you just leave there without leaving a tip or something. The other entertainment is great to but we are just Motown babies.... My husband and I recommend Woody's to all. We wood always remind our family to go if they are visting, but now they ask for the address. The host staff was very friendly however, they did take a minute to just take down out name. There only one restroom which may be a inconvenience. Our server was very rude and made unnecessary comments about a person in our party ordering a kid menu item. The food was bland and over cooked. The food took a cool minute to get to us and the girl that was dropping it off was rude as well would ask if we need something and than turn and leave. After posting a Google review they came trying to be nice but the waiter came back and made a sarcastic comment about one in my party sending back food was was not good to them calling it out. Just ok. That was our final take on this location for Woody's Diner. They have multiple locations, all with different menus. My husband ate at the one in Huntington Beach with friends and was very impressed. He kept raving about it, so naturally I had to try it as well. We went to the orange location because it's closer to us. "Big mistake" his words. Upon arrival, the building is old, but nice inside. We were seated right away, drink orders were taken, and greeted by our server. I ordered a Diet Coke, and was given a regular coke. After taking a drink, I realized this was wrong. No big deal for some, but for myself, having an intolerance to high fructose corn syrup....this is a horrible mixup. We had our server correct the mistake, (she didn't make it) no problem. We ordered the same item, chili size with beer battered fries. Order came out promptly. Appearance looked great. I was expecting a lot, due to photos and reviews. Hamburger was bland, chili was lacking flavor. Beer battered fries, were crispy, which I liked, however they had an after taste I couldn't put my finger on why. My husband didn't like them. He also said his burger & chili was bland as well. Service, was ok. We got everything we asked for and drinks were refilled promptly. We did feel it was a little unfriendly though, even a little cold as far as environment. I struggled between 2 and 3 . I decided on 3 for benefit of the doubt. Just Ok. Is all we could say when we left. We will not return to this location. My husband swears the HB location is 10x better, not sure I feel like trying that one either. Ordered the country fried steak and eggs. It was delicious!!! The food servings were pretty big. I couldn't finish my food. Ordered the eggs sunny side up. A bit messy when the yoke was broken but I was able to eat the rest of the hashed browns and toast with the eggs. The service was also great. Really friendly people. I came here with my coworkers for family style lunch and we were so stuffed! Overall, great food and experience! read more

Three of us - grandpa, dad, and son - went here for Father's day breakfast. None of us had been to Woody's before. I spied this place a couple days ago and thought it would be a nice place to have a quiet breakfast. The coffee is very good. No creamer required! The eggs were also good. They know the difference between over easy and over medium :) That is not a universal skill among diners. The waffle was not to my liking though. I prefer a traditional waffle over a Belgian, and it could have cooked a few minutes longer. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it enough to eat it. Parking is tight. A lot of F150s and Silverados in the lot making maneuvering difficult. Overall we had a great time sharing family stories over a delicious breakfast. read more

Unbelievably bad service. Came for lunch. They sat us down quickly and then proceeded to ignore us. I tried to get the attention from numerous waiters to at least get drinks but I struck out. I went in on a Thursday night and ordered a hamburger which was delicious. However the service was very very slow. I went back on Saturday night and ordered fish and chips. Again the service was very very slow even with different servers. The fish was not the light batter that I had had in the past but a grainy, heavy finally packed cruse. The fish was very chewy/rubbery and did not taste good. This restaurant has changed drastically from a good restaurant I had perceived in the past two years to a slow and an acceptable meal. read more

Brought my daughter here for lunch on a Monday about 11:45. we stood at the front for over 5 mins waiting to be acknowledged by any employee. Finally were shown to our table where we waited for 10+ more mins. When the waitress finally came, she asked what we wanted to drink. I told her that we were ready to order food and she said, "I have other things to do, I'll be back to take your food order in a bit". We ordered drinks and waited another 5+ minutes and left. Never in my life I would return to this dinner again. July 7th 2:30pm my family and I visited for the first time , waitress Lori right off the bat was rude asking us if we knew what we want . Brought to her attention it our first visit and suggest what she recommend Lori replied " everything " . Well that wasn't helpful. Got a glass of water for the time being, looking over the menu . We have been coming here more many years. Not sure what's going on, but the customer service has been consistently going down hill. We were met at the door a couple weeks ago with unhappy customers complaining about slow service and , when we walked in, there were at least 20 dishes waiting to be taken to tables..we left Came back to pretty empty lunch hour, requested a Diet Coke, got a water, took another 10 min to correct it, ordered a half sandwich with soup..soup was cold and soup spoon looked like it slipped in the big soup pot...never got the soup or spoon back until sandwich was eaten. I work down the street and never noticed this diner. I came here for lunch today and from the outside, I wasn't sure what to expect. The inside is kind of reminds me of Island's with a little less charm. Tons of seating and the place was pretty busy for a Tuesday afternoon so I'm guessing it's a common lunch spot. Nothing really looked appetizing on the menu and as food passed me I still didn't want to eat it. I opted for breakfast which is served all day! I got the Belgian waffle and a side of hash browns. The hash browns are very seasoned but not salty. I didn't care for the seasoning too much. They were cooked perfectly though. The Belgian waffle was both crispy and soft. I'd recommend this for breakfast or if you're like me, for lunch. The waffle is the only item only served until 2pm. Everyone else seemed pretty satisfied with their order and compared it to a Denny's. So it's not food that will blow you away by any means. The service was decent and we were in and out. Well I use to be a huge fan until today sadly. I went in for breakfast before work and ordered steak and eggs. Wellll my steak was so over cooked I could barely get my fork or knife through it. Scrambled eggs were slimy and undercooked. And hash browned burnt on top but inside freakin raw the ice tea tasted like it was sitting for days. Drove up and got excited to try this new location. I have been to their location in Seal Beach and it's really cute and by the beach. Unfortunately, this location just doesn't have that kind of charm. I would compare this to a Denny's with worse food. We ordered blueberry and chocolate pancakes. The blueberries cost $1.49 extra and looked like little pepper balls. The taste wasn't any better either. They were dropped on top of the pancakes so they were easy to scrape off luckily. The chocolate chips were milk chocolate and the pancakes themselves were very fluffy. Service was fine, I felt bad for them at sometimes since some of the older crowd liked to hit on the girls. We were seated promptly so that was great! It's a weird mix of people here but the older crowd definitely dominates. I expected more Chapman kids. Best onion rings in town? Woody's hands down. Customer service, not so much, as I discovered to my dismay last night. Jambalaya is a rice-based dish, which is apparently news to them; when I told them there was an insufficient amount of rice for the dish, I was offered a side of rice for an upcharge of $3. No, I'm sorry, wrong answer. Not for an $18 entree. The manager could have made me happy with two tablespoons of rice but she gave me the hard-nosed company line, you want something extra, it costs extra. This is not the kind of attitude that's going to get people back into restaurants. I've always had good food and service at Woody's, but I'm less likely to recommend it to anyone now. read more

The wife and I visited at the lunch rush on the third day this location opened. The menu is vast with something for everyone. Breakfast all day, burgers, sandwiches, salads and desserts are highlights. The interior is a friendly beach atmosphere. Table tops are surfboard motif. The bar section towards the rear has televisions. Because they just opened the service was a little slow but I'm sure that will be worked out right away. My wife ordered the Chicken Salad that she described as phenomenal I had the build your own Omelet that was great. The staff was friendly and efficient plus everyone welcomed us repeatedly. Came today for brunch and was greated by a sign on the door saying staff will no longer be wearing masks and they have work hard this year. We looked inside at the two employees standing glaring at us. Obviously the vibe was off and they themselves seemed ready for a confrontation so we left. When you are that defensive about a decision maybe it's worth reconsidering.
