Parking: street parking and the streets around were pretty packed but if you don't mind a 4-5 minute walk, there were plenty of spots in neighboring streets! Ordering: You order at the counter and find your own table in or outdoors. Food: My friends and I ordered the beef noodles, fish cake tofu, chicken wings, pork belly bao, and a bottle of orange wine ($48). This was the perfect amount for the 3 of us! Beef Noodles - yummy chow mein flavor, noodles are so good - cooked al dente with a nice bite and flavorful! Fish Cake Tofu - Good but I'd probably pass on it next time, nothing to memorable for me Chicken Wings - so good, reminds me of my grandma's chicken wings lol. I've been wanting to try Woon for awhile now. Home style Chinese food is one of my favorites but due to my gluten allergy I can only get it when I cook myself or when my mom does. There are three savory dishes that are gluten free - the veggie fried rice, gai lan, and tofu. They're clearly labeled on the menu. Very cute casual neighborhood restaurant for some as the even say comfort food. My gf took me here after picking me up from the airport last night as its only 3-4 blocks from her house. So she's been raving about the beef noodles and the chicken wings here so we had to order those. If I were hungrier i'd have have liked to try their dumplings as they're made in house or the cucumber tofu appetizer, but there is always next so let's break it down. - The beef noodles - Mmmm mmm you can taste the wokee' in this dish and its excellent. The noodles must be home made as they're thick and chewy, also the noodles were red last night maybe from a halloween batch they'd made. - Fried chicken wings - These wings have a light dusting of some kind of starch powder that form a crisp crunch on the outside and are well seasoned with some asian spices. To compliment the items you have a pretty tasty chili crisp and a vinegary chili sauce at the table to add as you'd like. To order you place it at the counter and they'll give you a number, the food did come out pretty fast also. We also tried one of their premade cocktails which was a pineapple juice forward drink, kind of sweet but good. So, my wife and I visited this small but cozy establishment on my birthday a week ago. We dont get to LA that often, living in the IE. So, I ordered 3 dishes off the menu, pork bao, chicken wings and beef noodles. Pork (belly) bao was outstanding! However, the beef noodle didn't look nothing like the photos displayed on your website. What I received was some dry noodles and tiny little pieces of beef. The chicken wings were dry also. I expected more from Woon, based on the rating you have. I had planned to return them both, but you don't open until 5pm and I had a 2hr drive back home so I couldnt hang around. Don't be tricked by the aesthetic interior and late night chinese vibes, this is some of the worst chinese food you'll ever eat. It's really not repulsive or anything, it's just genuinely not tasty. Service is order at the front and seat yourself, and theres a small amount of seating. This place really has no business ever being busy tho, so seating isnt an issue. As for the food, The scallion pancakes are crazy chewy and don't have any flavor, which is a recurring theme here. The pork bao are actually very redeeming, incredibly tender and well portioned, with great pickled cucumbers on top. The beef noodles are HORRIBLE. The noodles are so so chewy, like eating strips cut from a tire. On top of that, theres ZERO flavors despite how dark the noodles are, so just imagine chewing on a diaper or something. Such a good spot!! We went at around 6:30pm before it got busy! The portions are on the smaller side but totally shareable! Or you can get 1-2 things for yourself! We tried a little bit of everything: beef noodles, pork belly over rice, five spice wings, scallion pancake, fish cakes and pork belly bao. I wouldn't get the pork belly bao and the pork belly over the rice because they're exactly the same (my bad) - but they were both so delish!! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful! The packaging is cute and everything was neatly stored. I was expecting delicious spices and flavors, but could only taste salt and scallions in every bite. I mean waaayyy too much salt. Maybe the normal chef is away? The menu states what to expect, but the chicken wings only tasted of salt and bitter scallion and more salt. I couldn't finish one wing it was that bad. I didn't taste any garlic. Also the meat was too fatty. I also ordered the tofu bowl but only got 3 pieces of tofu! What the heck? For this price I expect more tofu. The bowl had about 15 pieces of 2-3" long scallions (the white past) that were inedible. Scallions should not be the main course. They have a hard outer shell and are bitter and slimy. It was supposed to come with sesame seeds but I didn't get any. The mushrooms tasted like bleach. The sauce was too salty. I question the authenticity of the positive reviews here since it was insanely salty and unpleasant. I ended up throwing everything but the rice away. Save your money. read more

The BEST Chinese food I tried in the USA. It makes me homesick . We didn't expect to order the "Beef Noodles". But once we saw other tables, we decided definitely need to order that. Without doubt, the beef noodle is the best. It is so GOOD!!! A must try! We also ordered the Chinese pancake and the dumpling. They are also the best I ever tried in the USA. A super duper trendy spot. If you're looking for that, maybe it's for you. But the portions were abysmally small, and the cheapest thing is like, $7 for the tiniest side. We ordered a cucumber + tofu salad which was so bad that we had to send it back and ask for a refund, which I have literally never done before in my entire life. The cucumber was okay, just super bland and the tofu was hard & chalky and had the weirdest flavor to it. We asked to refund all of our food, but they were making a stink about how they "already made it" and my partner felt guilty so we just took it to-go. The other dishes we ordered were fine: beef noodles and the chicken wings. The noodles were very unmemorable, basically a Costco frozen dish. The wings were crispy but ultimately uninspired. My coworker has been raving about this place and "woon" translates to "bowl" in my first language, Cantonese, so I had to try it out. Came for dinner on Saturday and the wait wasn't too long. You order at the counter, grab a number, and food is brought out to you. We started off with the wood ear mushroom and bean curd salad, a flavorful, cold, vinegar-y appetizer. The beef noodle was pretty good, very similar to shanghai fried noodles. We also got their pork belly bao and lemme just say the pork belly was so fatty it disintegrated, slid out of my mouth, and thankfully landed back on my plate. While I loved the vibes & natural wine selection, some items shine a little brighter, in addition to some staff being friendlier than others. What brought me in were the photos I kept seeing of the noodles (I opted for veggie) which were everything I wanted them to be. They were perfectly bouncy and slick with sauce-- well portioned to split with my s.o. Ok yes this spot is worth the hype!! I went with 2 friends so we got a little bit of everything to eat family style. One of my friends is vegetarian so I loved how almost every item had a vegetarian version. We got the veggie noodles, scallion pancakes, tofu and cucumber salad, veggie fried rice, veggie dumplings which are only available on the weekend, and a pork bao bun. Hands down my favorite item were the noodles. They had the perfect chewy texture and so much flavor!! We also got their bottled shochu cocktails which were perfect, not too strong or sweet. This spot is super casual, where you walk in, order at the counter and then grab a table. The staff was friendly and food came out quick. We arrived slightly after opening on a Saturday and they were busy but not too crowded. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and you feel like you're eating a home cooked meal at family members house. We decided to stop by this little spot on a Monday evening around 6 & got lucky with parking on the residential street right out front! They have a takeout window as well and are very friendly. Pretty straightforward menu and vegan/veg options as well! We had the beef noodles, bao bun (pork belly/tofu) , scallion pancake, and tofu on rice. The best thing was probably their pork belly! I wish I had gotten it on rice because the bao was nice. Everything else was okay not very memorable to be honest. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here since there are other homestyle Chinese restaurants in LA and even OC that give you bigger portions & do it the same if not better. Went last night for the 2nd time with a group. This place does not disappoint. Had the veggie fried rice, veggie noodles, pork belly bao, vegan tofu bao, gai lan. Tried a good portion of the menu. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The mushrooms are delicious and the chewy noodles are one of my favorites. Everything was great. No matter what you order you won't go wrong. The only thing they need to improve on is their saki selection. We tried the 2 large bottles which are the only 2 available besides a different small bottle option. The one with the white label was rubbing alcohol. No one in our group liked it. The taller narrow green bottle was better but still not delicious. Their house beer was tasty but a bit too sweet for me. Luckily they have draft Sapporo which is always going to be good. The saliva tofu is supposed to be reminiscent of a Sichuan chicken dish that is savory, spicy, and filled with mala umami goodness...while the version here was weirdly flat, bland, and sweet/sour?! The green onion pancake was incredibly dense and lacking of that fragrant scallion flavor. Sadly, even Trader Joe's has a better frozen scallion pancake.
